[22:38] alex schaub: as of 2:34, hes dead. 16 1/2, just bought a new hood for his convertible and he decided to lift 245 on the bench alone at our house
[22:42] alex schaub: my dad found him and threw the weights off his neck onto the floor, but it was all for nothing
Wow. What an awkward way to die... 245 pounds! for a 16 year old. I can't bench press 75 and I'm 17. I grieve for your loss. Still, I find your situation strange. I'm glad I'm not obsessed with weight lifting.
My sympathies. Usually when we do really stupid things, it just ends up being a good story to laugh about later. Unfortunately, sometimes it's permanent. I actually had one scarily close call with that type of thing myself when I was in High School.
Not much else to say. Life is really ****ing unfortunate sometimes.
Terrible news. Sorry to hear it. I've done similar stupid things, but have had the good fortune to be lifting just enough to strain badly and still get it back on the rack.
Man, that's a tragic and unfortunate loss for your friend and his family, and you of course. Sadly, accidents like that do happen and there's nothing we can do about it.
