Just recently saw that gooing on sale at the whole foods near my house...what's the secret? Does this work? I mean, why not just use Halls Mentholyptus?
i don't know... but even if just a placebo effect, it's worked for me.
Generally whenever I start to get sick, Zicam quick tablets. They're thick but if you can get over the texture (which wasn't hard for me at least) it's fine. If you don't catch it near the start.
Sleep, eating healthy, warmth, comfort items (for me it's stuffed animals when I don't want to get others sick).
I also tend to take like PM medications too, like over the counter stuff. It helps me sleep and it makes me feel better. Really it all depends on what you and your body are used to since I don't think there is a cure all for say every cold.
Though the soup suggestions work too for the scratchy throats/dry throats.

Thank goodness for having the immune system of a bear. I don't really get colds. On the rare occasion that I do, some sleep (and by some I mean 13+ hours in a row) and a glass or five of ice water works great for me. Oh, and food. Something hearty, like a nice ham and potato soup. Food keeps the body well stocked to fight the infection, and so helps worlds.
i find the best cure for any type of cold is to keep your head warm. i make sure to old my sheets over so they are extra think over my neck when i have a sore throat. it works great. you may also want to consider a scarf. sleep with most of your head under your sheets. it relieves a stuffy nose almost instantly.
drink hot tea and steam your head. *boil hot water and put it in a big bowl, put your head over the bowl so the steam is hitting your face and cover your head with large towel. This works so well for me. hot tea and chicken soup are good times too.
I tried the lemon tea with honey-thing, but.. how much honey should you put in there? I taste it, but it's only faint. Honey is thick too.. does it dissolve well in hot water though?

Getting the last word does not mean that you win the argument.
Sleep, lots of sleep. And water. That's all you need. Cold medicine is nothing but Dextromethorphan to make you feel better, not actually eliminate the cold. Old wives' tales and secret remedies only work if you believe they are working, just like luck and voodoo. And as for drinking alcohol, well, there's nothing wrong with that.
