Oh, and the bad guy is played by David Tennant, ie, the 10th Doctor.
I am not afraid to admit that I have a man-crush on David Tennant (I know, get in line).
I'm really looking forward to this and hope it's very good. My only concern is that it might end up feeling a bit disappointing even if it is good, just because of how high Daredevil set the bar. But hopefully that's not the case.
I'm excited for David Tennant as the Purple Man. I loved him in Broadchurch and it showed he could really play a much more serious character. That guy is a workhorse, man, looking at his credits.
I don't like Kristen Ritter. Honestly, she was the worst part of Breaking Bad for me, and I've disliked her in Veronica Mars. Maybe it's just the characters she played, I don't know, but her casting is not the high point in this for me. That said, I think she could do a good job here so I'm giving her a chance. Lots of Marvel Actors have surprised me (Chris Evans from Human Torch to Captain America.. damn) so I'll stay cautiously optimistic.
Plus Daredevil was just insanely good, as is a lot of Netflix's original programming. And I like the character and the whole idea behind her (Bendis is at his best doing crime drama).
Anyone watching this? Kristen Ritter does a decent job, although I still think she was miscast. Everything else about this series was pretty great... but what is with
these netflix shows casting great older black actors and then killing them off. I'm also annoyed at how often Killgrave escapes. And why has no one heard of earplugs... or hearing aids! If his ability doesn't work through a speaker, why not wear hearing aids so that you only hear through speakers.

You'll see a few scenes later where his ability does work through a speaker.
I don't think Ritter was miscast, though I'm not intimately familiar with the source material.
But yeah, old black guy dies is now definitely a Netflix Marvel trope.

I think Kristen Ritter nailed it. And David Tennant was wayyy better than D'Onofrio's Kingpin, though I think the main difference is in how the characters were written rather than performed.
I'm not sure you can complain about the old black guy dying when so many other people die too. Even the wholesome blonde Midwestern teenager who never dies.

Was anyone else really disappointed with the last few episodes? I thought it was amazing for the first 10 or so, but then towards the end I thought they introduced a bunch of plot holes/ inconsistencies:
Why can't they use a hazmat suit to counteract Kilgrave's ability? What ever happened to the vaccine they were developing? It just didn't work and they abandonded it? And why is Jessica immune, again?
And also, they introduced several subplots toward the end that I just didn't care about. I don't want to see more of Robyn. I don't care about Nuke's transformation.
Still, though, it was a very entertaining series. Kilgrave is probably Marvel's scariest villain yet.
I liked it. Should be interesting to see how the next shows revolve around each other as I am pretty sure all six Netflix/Marvel series take place in NYC.

I really enjoyed the show up until about episode 8 and 9. The writing in Episode 9 was literally so terrible I stopped watching the series all together. The level of stupidity portrayed by the characters was off the charts. It was really a shame because I thought the show was very unique and well written up until that point.
Details are pretty sparse at the moment, but you can get an idea of what the show is going for with the trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5g8v7szix0

Considering who created the character and how amazing Daredevil was I for one can't wait for November 20th
