Well, we have threads about basketball, football, hockey, even MMA, but I didn't see any about baseball!
Any other baseball fans out there? Fantasy players, got any gripes about your team? Lots of high-ranked players have had slow starts or have been injured for large parts of the season.
Today begins the All-Star break; lots of baseball fans I know aren't huge supporters of the All-Star festivities, but I actually enjoy the Derby, and the All-Star game as well, though I do dislike the World Series home advantage implications. Should be entertaining regardless.

Robinson Cano hit 0 home runs in the home run derby.
Way to go.
Oh yeah, and I'm 13-0 in Fantasy baseball in a league with my friends. My team has survived injuries extremely well. I had to drop some guys like Brian Wilson but luckily snagged some prospects like Aroldis Chapman in return who have paid off extremely well for me. I've made a lot of great moves throughout the year and I'm set to go undefeated. I will probably not be invited back next year.
About Frox: for nearly 10 years, Frox has been helping women look good and feel great in easy-fit, mix-and-match, and work-to-weekend with just a few pieces by helping them make the right choices when it comes to clothing and accessories.
Yeah, definite facepalm from Cano. But I thought it was seriously classless of the KC fans to boo him constantly just because of the Butler snub. Pretty despicable.
Nice performances by Fielder, Bautista, Trumbo, etc. Angels' future with Trumbo and Trout looks very bright.
Looking forward to the main event tomorrow!

Well, the reason why you didn't see a thread is because last years thread is buried a couple pages back. Helpful note: add the "2012 season" to your thread title so we'll know which one to post in so nobody else creates a duplicate, or rez's an older one. That's what we do with the NFL, NHL, etc.
MLB wise; My Tigers are on a 5 game win streak before the break, so I'm happy. Our pitching outside of Verlander is so damn iffy at times. Good to hear that Prince won the HR Derby though think he may be the first Tiger to win it.
I was so damn stoked that we snagged him in the offseason. It was out of friggin nowhere too. His father Cecil was my favorite Tiger growing up. I remember the random media events showing Prince at my age, like 10-12 doing batting practice at the old Tiger stadium. Hell, he knocked them out half the time. Lol.
I'm a Reds fan so obviously I'm biased, but what does everyone else think of Larussa's "snubbing" of Johnny Cueto and/or Brandon Phillips for the N.L. All-Stars?
If not both, I think Cueto should've made it regardless of whether he pitched Sunday or not.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this season though:
- some great, young talent emerging (i.e. Trout, Trumbo, Strasburg, Harper)
- some long-time, dismal teams finally competing for a change (Nationals, Pirates, Orioles...)

They're Kansas City fans, they don't have much else to cheer for or against.
The Angels having Trumbo and Trout is just ridiculous. They're so good.

Please, I hope they do the Indians a favor and pass them up right after the break is over. I am so tired of hearing people in Cleveland think the Indians are going to win the division. They also think the Tigers suck because of their record. They're forgetting all you guys did was add a superstar in the offseason. The people in Cleveland are so stupid...

Brandon Phillips I can see passing on, but Johnny Cueto definitely deserves to be there. He is an ace and is having an awesome year. Not sure if it was because of that Cards/Reds rivalry, but if it was that's awfully stupid.
I don't think Harper deserves to be in the All-Star game, but whatever. I think he's kind of overrated. Very excited to see the Orioles and Pirates doing well.

He's just been rushed. He started 2011 in Class A; he did well there, but after being promoted to Double-A, he strugged. In 147 appearances, he hit .256/.329/.395 with 3 HR and 12 RBI. Still, his potential was high enough that they promoted him to Triple-A to start 2012, which I could still agree with. In 82 appearances before his promotion to the bigs, he was only hitting .250/.333/.375 with just one homer. He's got talent, I don't think that's in doubt; Washington just seems to be in too much of a rush to get him to the majors. He could probably use a full season in the minors. He got off to a hot start, but has faded a little, and has uninspiring power numbers. He probably got into the ASG on name recognition, but once he's developed a little more, I think he will have the talent to make himself a staple there for a long time.

Right, I totally agree. But I think he's definitely there because of name recognition. He is one of the most talked about players this season (mostly because of his stupidity: clown question, has a dog named Swag, etc.) and the media has really blown Bryce Harper out of proportions. That's why he's there.
The All-Star Game itself is kind of stupid, in terms of how lineups are decided. Seriously, how are David Wright and Andrew McCutchen not starting? Popularity wins over talent in the Digital Age...

Yeah, I mean, I agree with you on some level, but there's something to be said for keeping fan participation high, that's pretty important IMO. I think they should balance it out by having a group like the BBWAA also cast votes, and have those votes be weighed equally as a whole with the fan votes.
On a different note, I liked your old avatar better, Frox. It seemed especially appropriate during the whole Ray Allen fiasco, as I found myself facepalming constantly as it developed.

Definitely agree. It's really got to be more than a popularity contest when you've got a guy like David Wright who totally had it locked until the San Franners just flew out of no where and pushed Sandoval into the starting 3B role. David Wright is miles better than him, and an MVP candidate. Granted I and all Mets fans should've voted for him more since that's the case... That's why it's kind of like a double-edged sword. It's easy to complain about snubs during the fan voting process, but when it's because you didn't vote for that guy, it's your own fault.
And yeah, I changed it back. I had different facepalm avatars for a while and I think I'm just going to stick with it. I make changes every so often that usually last less than an hour.
About Frox: for nearly 10 years, Frox has been helping women look good and feel great in easy-fit, mix-and-match, and work-to-weekend with just a few pieces by helping them make the right choices when it comes to clothing and accessories.
On a somewhat related note, Jon Morosi of Fox Sports wrote an interesting column last night espousing his new idea that MLB needs to mandate that at least one "home town" player must be selected for the HR Derby, to avoid the Fielder-Upton/Cano-Butler booing, fiascoes, etc. Anyone have thoughts on this?
EDIT: They're announcing the All-Stars now - how in the world did Bryan LaHair sneak in? Who voted that guy as an All-Star? Haha.
EDIT2: Lance Lynn is there too. This is the most ridiculous part of the ASG in my opinion - the fact that it only takes less than half the season into account!
EDIT3: Everyone booed again when Robinson Cano was announced in the lineup. Ridiculous.
Yeah, in all honesty I'd rather see Rizzo in there over LaHair. How stupid. LaHair had a good week or two then he became a cellar-dwelling 1B in the eyes of critics. Very stupid.
And yeah, Lance Lynn...
I fully agree the booing of Cano is ridiculous. Arizonans were pissed last year for, like, a few minutes after Upton got snubbed. KC fans are not looking very good.
About Frox: for nearly 10 years, Frox has been helping women look good and feel great in easy-fit, mix-and-match, and work-to-weekend with just a few pieces by helping them make the right choices when it comes to clothing and accessories.
Wow, Mike Maddux out to talk to Verlander! He's been a little wild, but certainly not enough to warrant the pitching coach coming out. They'll probably only let him pitch one inning.
EDIT: Yikes, I might be wrong.. he's walked the bases loaded! This could get ugly real quick.
EDIT2: Yup, 3-run triple by Sandoval. 4-0 NL. Wow..
EDIT3: Cano pops out to third in foul territory in his first AB, and everyone cheers again. Sigh.
1. Verlander absolutely sucked last night. What on earth was that?
2. Bryce Harper made a bigger fool out of himself than I expected... The shoes, and the missed ball.
3. KC fans are obnoxious for their treatment of Cano. With nothing going for their team and focusing their energy on cheering against Cano, they look like a bunch of rednecks.
About Frox: for nearly 10 years, Frox has been helping women look good and feel great in easy-fit, mix-and-match, and work-to-weekend with just a few pieces by helping them make the right choices when it comes to clothing and accessories.
1. Verlander was trying to throw as hard as he could in the first inning, which he usually doesn't do - he said he was trying to show off for the fans and have fun.
Trade season heating up a little, we saw two deals today:
- Rockies trade SP Jeremy Guthrie to Royals for SP Jonathan Sanchez in a double "change of scenery" deal
- Blue Jays trade RP Francisco Cordero, OF Ben Francisco, and some minor leagues to the Astros for SP J.A. Happ and RP Brandon Lyon
FanGraphs didn't like the deal much for the Jays, calling it a "panic trade" on the part of Toronto GM Alex Anthopoulos.

Two more big trades yesterday! Detroit acquired SP Anibal Sanchez and 2B Omar Infante from Miami for a package of prospects. But the one I'm more excited about is that my team, the Yankees, absolutely stole franchise icon Ichiro Suzuki from the Mariners. He's basically replacing Brett Gardner, but he's bringing a level of stardom to New York that I'm really excited about.

Yeah, it's been a tough year for them pitching-wise, even the starters who aren't injured haven't been doing that well.
Romero had a good start, then he slumped to mediocrity. That's the only position I see them lacking in is the starting rotation. Drabek is too young, Villanueva is starting to become good and Morrow has been relatively inconsistent.
At least they fixed the closer position with Santos/Janssen. Fransico blowing games in the 9th inning was getting old

Wow, I missed the Pirates trading for Wandy Rodriguez! Loving the trade season finally heating up.
Yup, now theres HanRam to Dodgers. Should really help them, their offense has been beyond dreadful this year and even in a down year HanRam is a major upgrade. Also Phillies signed Hamels to a big deal, not sure I like spending 85 million for 4 players like they will next season (Lee, Halladay, and Howard).
This has ended up being a very exciting trade deadline season, definitely contrasts what many baseball blogging pundits were saying about the new CBA discouraging midseason deals.

Didn't mind the Jay's trade at all, they're absolutely decimated by injuries to their starting rotation
