Anyone have some clean comic series to recommend? "Golden age"-esque books is what my wife is looking to read. She doesn't like the current trend of uber violent and dark material. She wants to read lighthearted adventure stories where the good guys win (most of the time) and people aren't violently maimed. Anyone have any good suggestions? She's heard about All-Star Superman though she really likes Batman the most. Thanks for any help!
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is the first one that comes to mind. Its among my regular monthly titles and is hilarious. Although, it may be too light-hearted for her taste.

(about the English language) It's kinda like a raft that was cobbled together from parts of three different boats and since then has been kept barely afloat with crude repairs every time a leak appeared.

Astro City might fit your needs. I really liked it and I don't recall it being filthy.
I wish I could offer more help. My tastes run towards the Brubaker/Phillips collaborations (Criminal, Fatale, Incognito, Fade Out, etc) and stuff like Powers and Gotham Central.

The Palmiotti/Conner run of Starfire was pretty clean, I only recall one violent part but it was part of a flashback.
Skull*Kickers is a "buddy-cop movie in a fantasy setting" type book, there is a bit of violence, but it's not overdone.
if she wants a good chuckle with an older series, Giffen/DeMattias 80's run of Justice League International

If you're reading a Fables series which can be described as "lighthearted adventure stories where the good guys win (most of the time) and people aren't violently maimed", then you are reading a very different Fables series than the rest of us.

Not to mention there are couple of rather questionable relationships in it.
