Glistening black oil that is central to the aliens and their technology. Biomechanical modifications with little care if the subject lives or dies. Massive smokestacks pouring corruptive, terraforming chemicals and invasive DNA into the air, water and soil. Cruel, inhumane experiments using meat, bone and metal.
I saw all of this and thought, "This is a great way to handle Phyrexia in film form!'
I recently marathoned several of the films, as well as some of the Crypt.tv shorts. RAKKA just stood out to me because I had JUST played Magic with my nephew, and he is working with an infect deck so I had Phyrexia on the brain. Lol
I think it is awesome that Blomkamp will take the time and spend then money to make something like this. I hope he can get the funding to make the full feature. I would love to see this fully realized.
On the phrexia note, I think he could direct and awesome movie focused on that story line. I think Wizards of the coast has a long way to go educating the general public on the storylines of MTG before they could make a full feature on that one though. Its pretty complex and dense to fit into one movie.
