I finally saw Frost/Nixon last night. Fantastic, purely for the script and for Frank Langella. It really felt like the rest could have been much better than they were, but that was a wonderful portrayal of Nixon, and the jokes were spot on, well placed. It's a shame it was up against Penn's Harvey Milk for best actor; the only other leading male role that could stand up to it this decade is Hoffman's Truman Capote.
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind: Pretty good, but still not even remotely close to the pinnacles that were Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. Those are really the lone outliers in Miyazaki's filmography.
I don't think that's fair to My Neighbor Totoro. Otherwise I'd agree, though I haven't seen Ponyo yet.

(about the English language) It's kinda like a raft that was cobbled together from parts of three different boats and since then has been kept barely afloat with crude repairs every time a leak appeared.
Yesterday I was looking after my two cousins and they wanted to watch a movie, so we watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame (The Disney Version). To my surprise I enjoyed it.
I finally saw Milk the other night. It was quite interesting, a nice history lesson in gay rights and all that jazz. All the actors did great jobs.
I also went with the wife to see When In Rome today. It was alright. I enjoyed Kristen Bell as I knew I would, but the plot and script were a bit corny and predictable. I liked it, but we both kinda wish we'd just waited for the DVD.
Just scavenged tons of movies from the dying Hollywood Videos in the area. Last one I watched was Raging Bull. Intense and sad. Characters that are doomed to achieve greatness yet fail at life are always so upsetting.
I saw Leap Year today (Amy Adams, Matthew Goode). It's as cheesy and predictable as you could possibly imagine, but if you have a female in your life (wife, girlfriend) that adores the standard chick-flick recipe, then see it with her and score some bonus points.
I saw True Grit with John Wayne a classic western. John stars as Rooster Cogburn a crotchity old drunk who helps a girl whose father was killed by a villain who works for lucky ned pepper. Also stars a non botoxed Glen Campbell
I saw Time Bandits the other night. I was pretty bored throughout. Yeah, Kenny Baker was entertainign to watch (he was the reason I saw the movie), but beyond that, I had a hard time staying focused. But, I typically have trouble enjoying movies older than I am, so...
Watched the movie The Last Word starring Winona Ryder, Wes Bentley, and Ray Ramano. Its one of those movies I give a chance just from reading the basic plot: a struggling poet (Wes) becomes a freelance suicide note writer for individuals wanting something beautiful to say before shuffling off their mortal coil. It turns into a romance between him and one of his client's sisters (Winona), but it was far from generic. Wes and Winona didn't have dynamic chemistry and some of the intentional awkwardness was overdone, but it was an enjoyable film never-the-less. Ray Ramano is ☺☺☺☺ing hilarious, which was a bit surprising.
Last night, I watched Following, which I hadn't seen in years. It shows so well why Christopher Nolan is a great screenwriter and director. Really original work of art.
Right now, I'm watching Silence of the Lambs. Then I'll be watching 12 Monkeys. Thanks, AMC.
I quite enjoyed it. I've never read the books, but, I know this was just loosely, loosely based on them, so, that probably wouldn't have been a problem.
My girlfriend has read the books, and she said there were some bits in there from them, but, for the most part, wasn't anything like it. But, she still enjoyed it.
The only bad part was that about 2 minutes before the movie started, a party of 8 year olds came to the movie, and sat right behind us. I constantly had to shush them, and at one point, the girl behind me (the birthday girl) was kicking my seat, I turned around and said "Stop it," and she looked like she was about to crap her pants. Is it wrong I took such enjoyment in seeing a little girl so scared?
"If I do go to heaven, I'll smack god across the face and tell him to get me a grilled-cheeses sandwhich and then say 'Yea what now god!? Say some'in! I dare you!' "
Just got done re-watching the brilliance that is Fahrenheit 451. If you have not seen this 1966 adaptation or read the book you owe it to yourself to watch this.
Ray Bradbury has wrote an amazing book that has more profoundness now then it did 40+ years ago.
It was probably the biggest waste of 9 bucks this year.
I saw The Crazies a week ago.
Whilst it wasn't scary (nor should one have expected it to be) or even too suspenseful, I wouldn't say I wasted my money: my friends and I got exactly what we were expecting = mindless entertainment with plenty of MST3K moments.
I guess you had higher expectations for it than we did...

The Rankin/Bass edition of The Last Unicorn. (I insisted that my 5 year old daughter see it.) That is one story that could definitely use a modern day live action/CGI remake. Quick! Hurry! Make it while Christopher Lee is still alive so he can play Haggard! (The rest of the 1982 voice cast is too old save Angela Lansbury--she's immortal.)
The World's Fastest Indian, I thought that Hopkins was played a pretty "cool" role in this movie had splashes of comedy which was relieving to say the least at times.
Another movie to see is Tekkon kinkurîto this movies effects made me trip so hard especially towards the end.
Hopefully after I am done with this paper I will watch Munich tonight.

Pretty stupid... started good, but just fell down from there. I won't be recomending it to people.
MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS
Better than I thought it would be. Had some very funny moments, and even got me to laugh out loud (something The Hangover never accomplished).
Will likely be my go to movie for recomendations the week it comes out (which is the week after next).
BROTHERS
A decent drama, but kinda slow in parts. Not as good as I was hoping it would be, but still a decent flick. Will likely be my non-family recomendation next week.

Wasn't awful, but they definitely tried to hard. Way overproduced.
