I've noticed it everywhere I'm active, too. My clan has all but flown the coop. [REDACTED] went from easily fifty plus posts per day to barely a handful. It's worrying, since Clans tends to be the haunt of established users.
In related news, you can see through the door without logging in (the subforum no longer seems to be invisible to unregistered users). Do we care about this?
I'm still here, I just have many obligations. Curse has indeed cursed MTGS. [The Crafters] activity levels are way down as well. Some previously active members have all but disappeared.
Well, [Spirit of EDH]'s activity is pretty much the same as earlier, but on the other hand, our clan is still quite young and our activity is nowhere near the other bigger clans'...

I'm not holding my breath. I'd have liked to develop it and gather an actual majority vote, but it's been four months. I just took whatever had the most momentum (it's Rhand's take on the original idea) and ran with it.
Plus the clans that traditionally care about these things being slower than usual. It'll be interesting.
Indeed Rhand, I believe a Clan Mafia contest will need to be fast-tracked lest we not get it started in time. I feel that if we wait until after June to start one, we run the risk of not finishing it before year end.
You're always welcome in our clan thread. Syphon was the only antisocial Crafter and he's been banned since last year some time.
You'd have to check with the management in regards to other clans.
While we're waiting for the lucky last set of contest scores to roll in, I want to have a serious discussion with y'all. I'll keep it short and sweet.
What is our stance on Clan Contests going forward?
Possible responses: Scrap them / Keep them.
This current year has been awfully distressing on this front in particular. We've revamped the scoring system to universal approval, we've had a flurry of ideas suggested, and then ... nothing. We lagged in deciding on a game, we lagged on starting the game, we've lagged on submitting for the game at every step of the process, and now we're lagging in finishing the game. Meanwhile, discussion of the next has stagnated completely. For this I will take partial credit - I should not have ran this thing at such a busy time, and a lot has come up between then and now - but I don't believe we'd have had a game otherwise.
I love these things, much to the Flamingo's chagrin, so it's disheartening to see them fall to the wayside. So let's fix them, or let them die.
Homework: Find out what your Clans think of the contests. Find out what they want changed about the clan contests. How do we increase enthusiasm? Are they wanted at all? Difficult questions, difficult answers.
Ok. Iso wants to host. He asked if I can post in all clan threads to ask if they're interested.
Is it ok if I do it that way?
The stock answer is "if the Clan says it's okay", but I don't see a problem here. Given this is a Clan Contest, I even don't mind if he posts a preliminary signup thread. He is the contest organiser, after all. I can even stick it with my powerful mod magicks.
[The Crafters] all love contests and games, so we'll participate in whatever is put together.
You can always count on [The Crafters] participating, no matter how busy I am per se.
If I'm too busy to actively participate in a contest, I'll find a delegate from the clan to represent us.
I also blame Curse for the general state of apathy in all things MTGS.
I've heard echoes that clan contests should move towards being more objective and more competitive. Jokes, roasts, and mascot creation is nice, but apparently some people want to see more chess and crosswords. Does anybody consider at least a partial move in this direction a negative?
More competitive seems to be [The Family]'s wish indeed.
But after all we are a mafia clan, which is a highly competitive game, so no surprises there.
As far as quitting organising then alltogether: we don't want that
I am a bit confused about the posting a message in other clans about the mafia game... Do I have to ask each clan rep seperately if it's ok to do so?
We can handle whatever you want to throw in. Yes, usually the clan mafia takes a few months to run its course and we can run other clan contests concurrently.
Would it be appropriate to run a contest and Mafia simultaneously?
Have we heard back regarding What People Want? I think running something objective this time would be a nice change regardless.
I'm middle of finding that out, but most of the time, whenever it has anything to do with Clan Council, tops 2 people answer me... >_<
Anyways, if we want something more objective, I can run the "Guess Who - clans edition" I earlier posted here. It still might need some tweaking with scoring, but otherwise it should be ready-to-run.

Should we work on a clan recruitment plan across the board?
Dredging this back up to maybe stir up some discussion.
I'm not particularly interested in aggressive recruitment campaigns, and every clan handles this differently, but the fact remains that users are leaving, and nobody is joining to replace them. In short: we. need. new. attractions. Ideas in dot points:
Revive the contests. This is a priority. It's one of the few things that makes Clans unique.
We've had suggestions for a "Clans testing ground". Ideally, it would aid in the creation of new clans - Band Clan, Space Clan, Summer Clan, etc. - but would in practice probably just end up as a clan "melting pot". That's fine, too!
Extend this idea all the way into a "Clan Foyer": designated neutral ground for dudes to chat in, free of constraints.
Encourage links in signatures. This one's easy!
Relax rules on clan advertisement in certain situations. Perhaps EDH's off topic thread would like to know that The Spirit of EDH is a thing
At this point I'm fine with throwing whatever ideas out there and seeing what sticks, so go crazy. It's new contest time!
Iso is down for Clan Mafia, by my understanding. It's always been a hit so feel free to go right ahead and do what you've gotta do.
We're behind schedule this year, so I strongly recommend we run another contest concurrently. Something fluffy to contrast with Mafia's intensity might be considered, but we've had complaints about non-objective contests in the past. I've heard whispers that a CCC contest might be a good idea. What that would entail, however, is up for discussion, but if that's the route we're going we have a lot of options ready-made.
If we want something objective, we could pester Lasersharp for a new cryptic crossword. Other options I've spied include chess tournaments, poker tournaments, Magic tournaments, etc. All fine ideas - as long as they're supported.
Guess Who: Clans Edition sounds fun, too! I'll have to refresh myself on the proposal and get back to you.
It might have something to do with the Curse. After we migrated here, the activity has dropped quite a lot all across the site, apparently...

Sorry for not giving input. I somehow didn't see that plan you posted for the quiz.
But i approve

What are we doing next? Do we even care? Big mysteries.

He wants me to go post in the clan threads
I'll ask [The Family] about the contests. I really think Curse is mostly to blame for all this.

"Please excuse this interruption for an important announcement on behalf of the MTGSalvation Clan Council..."
Blah blah blah blah...Clan Mafia...
"Thank you for your attention, I now return you to your regularly scheduled clan conversations."
You can use us as guinea pigs if you want.
