I never modded a mafia game before so I'll need my family members to help with that
But yeh, we will run one, I promise
What CC is it that you want me to run Bur?
A quiz?
Either that, or if you don't like it, something else. It just worries me that we are already in March and haven't had a single CC yet this year. Sadly, me, Kank and Chemtrails all are too busy right now to run it, so I was kind of hoping that someone else could it...

Also modgaming Bur setups is kind of treading down a dark path
I think the Family hasn't even joined one of these apart from the mafia one since I joined.
You'll have to explain me how this works and what i have to do then

Well, you'd be responsible for taking in all the entries and seeing that everyone send them before deadline, making the thread and so. I suggest you to ask Chemtrails, since I neither have run any CC's. Yet.

There has been no planning. It's been you saying "lets do something guys" and then everybody else actually not being here.
Rhand, running a Clan Contest is Super Simple Stuff. A quick and dirty guide for you:
Create a signup thread with the title of your game, a brief introduction, the rules, and signup duration (usually a week). The rules should be decided before the game even begins, so you only need to copy and paste.
Wait for people to sign up!
Change the thread title and make an announcement post when the game officially begins. Explain any further game mechanics if you need to.
Clans will PM their entries to you. It is your job to collate and post these once the game ends.
Clans then have some time (usually a week) to deliberate and PM their votes to you.
You then count the votes, display the results in-thread, and then declare a winner!
Remember, these are just internet forum games. There's no pressure. Feel free to make it as fun as you like.
It's worth noting that running a contest nets your clan bonus clan race points!
Unrelated: I've been at The Bosses re: missing clan rep. titles, but I tend to lose things on the way up there. I'll try again.
Thx. I can run a contest.
A quiz would be fun, but how do you find questions that aren't just a simple google job?
Well, there was a suggestion that the clans themselves would make the questions and other clans would answer them.
Either way, we can either allow the questions to be whatever people want, or restrict them to be related to the clan.
Then, for the scoring, I suggested Dixit-scoring (and Chemtrails fixed it) and that the final scored given to the clans would be (gathered points/maximum points *15). (Though, I thought that if we are allowed clans to make their own questions, part of the score would come from other clans evaluating the questions, so that no clan would make impossible-to-answer questions...)
But, feel free to make it the way you want it.

Well, since I am representing clan Mafia, I can't run contests where people don't die
What about this:
Round 1:
* Each participating clan submits 3 questions.
* I pick 1 question from each clan randomly. All clans answer all questions apart from their own.
* Each clan gives a ranking for the answers to their question.
* Scores are tallied. 1/3rd of the participating clans die. (the ones with the lowest scores ofc)
Round 2:
* I pick another question from each clan randomly. The remaining clans answer all questions apart from their own.
* Each clan (also the dead ones) gives a ranking for the answers to their question.
* Scores are tallied. Half of the remaining clans die.
Round 3:
* I submit all remaining questions from those clans that are dead. The remaining clans answer all those questions.
* The dead clans give a ranking
* We have a winner.
If we don't have enough clans participating, it will be 2 rounds instead of 3.
@Rhand, What type of questions? What is the theme of the contest?
I have been thinking of the improve contest and I think I have something. It is quite the bastardization of ME original idea, though. Is this cool with ME if I bastardize his original idea, Kank?
I was thinking of giving clans total freedom with their questions... It would only require non-googleable open questions where answers can be ranked one way or another, also chosen by the clans.
But that might be too free? I have never seen a clan contest before apart from the mafia games, so I don't know really
Yeah, it interests me too what kind of questions did you think, Rhand. Because, if you are allowed to do any kind of questions and the rankings are based on who gets most questions right, it might drive the competition into that kind of point where everyone chooses questions that are pretty much impossible to answer... (Like: "What is the name of Digi's cat")
That's why I suggested that part of the points come from answering correctly and other half comes from some other criteria (funniness? creativeness?) which is rated by other clans.
Also, if you are going to drop clans off each round, I think you should know that the amount of clans participating in CC's aren't usually high (or I haven't seen them being high). 3-4 clans is usually the amount of clans in...
@Digi: ME = (Megiddo)??? What have you been planning?...?

I was thinking the answers really have to be rankable.
A question like 'what's the name of Digi's cat could be ranked by funnyness or creativity.
If you for example get:
Max
Digi
Mr. Pebbles
Shivan
The guild would rank them from best to worst answer:
1. Digi (funny AND true!)
2. Shivan (he's a real dragon alright)
3. Mr. Pebbles (lame name)
4. Max (even lamer)
Add all rankings together and you get a ranking of which guild gave the best answers.

(Digi means for ME to be Moss_Elemental)
Moss had some sort of scoring plan to involve how many likes people's entries received instead of clans reviewing each other.
I'm sure he's totally up for any alternate options for an improv idea you might have.
Also, I probably can run the next one, since I got an idea for it: "Guess Who? - Clans Edition" (And this was totally not ripped off from my favourite childhood-game).

I don't know, it just feel that only you and I are actually reading this thread.
Anyways, for the next CC, I had an idea. ("Guess Who - Clans Edition")
(Note: All numbers here are just suggestions and are not set in stone)
Each participating clan chooses 4 members from their clan. Then, that clan gives other clans hints for each person, and other clans are to figure out who
is who.
Rating:
Half of the points come from figuring out who is who.
Dixit-scoring:
Clan gets 0 points if everyone or no-one guesses correctly and other get 3 points each
Clan gets 4 points if someone, but not everyone guesses correctly and those who guessed correctly get 2
Other half of the points come from other clan's ratings that are given after the answers are revealed.
These ratings are based on following criteria: Creativity: Were the hints creative? (0-5) Solvability: Was it possible to figure out who is who? (0 for totally impossible hints, 5 for well-done)
(These points do not denote CC-points, but are only to figure out who is the winner.)
Eg.
People: Bur, Chemtrails
Person #1
- is a moderator
- member of Clan Flamingo
Person #2
- plays mainly EDH and legacy
- likes Twelve Kingdoms -novels
Also, if we want to make it a tad more difficult, we could instead choose 5 people and give hints only for 4 (meaning that there would be an extra to serve as red herring) or allow each clan to ask another clan a single yes-or-no -question (and questions and answers would be public in the CC-thread), after the hints are shown but before answers...
EDIT: We could also just mix all the people, so that there is a huge list of hints and list of people, so you'd need also to figure out which clan they do belong...
But yeh, we will run one, I promise

Our censored name is spelled incorrectly on the header, btw.
@Kank, what ever happened to the improv thingy?
Putting the sexy in Science Fiction!

Moss sort of lost interest when we couldn't come up with a way to score it the way he envisioned, and I've been too busy to pick up the pieces.
Lemme mull it over? I can probably figure something out.
