Questions? I'm confused. We're not allowed to ask/answer questions here? Or is this to do with the CC?
Anyway, hopefully this is okay to ask then, but I've kind of been looking for people to either play Guild Wars 2 (which I bought but have barely touched) or some other f2p MMO with and I was wondering if any of you played, or had recommendations for MMO's with good exploration and good communities.
I was talking about CC-questions. Otherwise, normal talking and asking is okay.

SUPER budget landbase just because I'm trying to get duals for so many other decks at the moment.
Anyway, this is a deck that tries and take even the calmest games and turn them into absolute bloodbaths. Forget about building up mana and resources, Ruric Thar demands that glorious combat happen NOW! Everything's getting haste! Everything is attacking! Tokens are being distributed left and right! People are taking damage left and right from every single thing! Huge beasts are wrestling with each other in titanic brawls to the death! What's that, you're playing one of them control decks? Don't have any creatures. Here, my troll friend can lend you these few. They're tiny things, but they'll do in a pinch. Now get to attacking!
Curse of the Nightly Hunt is in the deck to make sure that the player whose deck pumps out the most creatures can't hold back with them, Curse of Bloodletting is in to slap a big target on the forehead of whoever is making everyone angry. I plan to play Feral Hydra with an extra rule "Whosoever contributes the most to growing the hydra may choose which direction it is pointed in." as an extra incentive to add counters. There's some slight land destruction to reign in things like Maze of Ith, but most of this deck is just go, go, go. It doesn't need to win. A victory here is to have created the bloodiest slaughter.
One thing about this, destroying lands tends to slow the game, not speed it up.
PS: There is also Fault Line for your board wipes and Savage Beating for the one big attack to finish most of the board and win, particularly after everyone has been tenderized so well by your other cards.
PPS: Ruric is one of my favorite generals for my favorite color pairing Good on you for using him.
Hey guys! I want to know whether or not we should participate in the new CC "Crazy quiz night" (or whatever it was, I'm too lazy to check it up at the moment). I'll sign us up, if you are interested in participating in it...
Also, for the questions: I told you not to discuss them on this thread, but we can alternatively use the new feature in PM's, where you can make a group and make posts and everyone in the group should see them.

I'm actually updating the deck right now. The LD isn't really there to slow things down so much as to either prevent some pesky nonbasics (You'll notice most of it just targets a single land.) or evens out the playing field. Just because I have it and it's easier, I'm planning to replace From the Ashes with Ruination.
I'm giving everyone so much mana and land, it shouldn't necessarily slow down the game so much as just even things out.
Yeah, I have a few good ideas for decks actually, just don't have the resources to see them out. Plus, I haven't even PLAYED a game of EDH since I moved. Sigh.
Actually, Riv, I'm not sure if you were a member at the time, but I remember soon after I joined The [Pack] back in 2010, we had built an Akuta, Born of Ash EDH deck for a contest. I'm having problems locating that list. Akuta is a deck I really want to build. I've had Seizan put together for awhile, but I'm really getting very bored with him, and with the suboptimal deck I made for him right now. I really want to build around Akuta, partly because the art is awesome, and partly because I realized I need to expand my horizons by utilizing some faster generals. Currently, out of my nine or so EDH decks, a good 6 or so utilize Commanders who cost 5+ mana.
Cheap generals are always fun, ran Daxos a while back and had a great bit of fun with it. It is in peices at the moment since I am remaking it into a proper voltron deck which should be fun. Let me know if you find your Akuta list, I would be curious to see it.
Couldn't find it, unfortunately. I may decide to go combing through the archives for it one of these days, but for now, meh.
I was going to build a Karador list that was an EDH version of the Splinterfright Deck I loved to play in standard a year ago, but decided I wanted to take a break from Graveyard decks and generals with big mana costs (even if they can be cheapened) for awhile.
So currently, here's what I'm looking for in my next commander.
I want a commander that costs three or less mana. Two mana would actually be really awesome, since I don't have any of those.
I want to use a commander that does things other than attack. So, a utility commander, not just something you throw a million equipment on and swing (I already have one of those, and while she's awesome, it's kind of "been there, done that." I'm not a huge fan of totally Voltron decks, and while Kemba is kind of a weird mix of Voltron and Swarm, she's voltron enough that I really don't want another full Voltron deck, although I suppose I break that kind of by playing Prossh and Mimeoplasm, who are both arguably looking to deal 21 to at least one player, but those decks also do other things and the commanders both fulfill other purposes, Mimeoplasm for his amazing versatility, and Prossh for his phenomenal token production and free sac outlet.)
I want a multicolor commander. Monocolored commanders have smaller card pools, and since I'm on a fairly strict budget, I want a commander that I can pull cards from a bunch of different boxes for.
That commander cannot be Golgari, Gruul, Jund, Esper, Bant, Grixis, BUG, or RUG, since I already have commanders or commanders planned for each of those colors.
So, anyone have any suggestions?
EDIT: found the Akuta deck. Copying it here. The [Pack] (defunct clan I was in before joining this one.) created this for an old contest.
Hey guys! My internet has been spastic for the last few days, so I haven't been able to get online. Anyways, I've pretty much caught up on the CC thing, so I'll be posting to the PM group in a little bit.
I've also been really busy with school. For some reason, the teachers think we students have all the time in the world... I especially don't see a point to making us move all the way to Japan for a year if we're not expected to make friends and socialize with Japanese people, which they (in)conveniently don't give us time to do. D:< Siiigh.
Not mine. Give credit to Seth, although he's not around here anymore.
As for your suggestions, I do like Sygg, River Cutthroat, I've actually thought about making a rogue tribal around him with Prowl and evasive creatures, but I also want to make Wydwen and since the Prismatic Challenge eats up most of my card resources so it'll probably be one or the other, since my cardpool for EDH is already getting fairly exhausted.
Vorel is cool. What would you recommend for a budget-ish build (No doubling season, even though I know it'd be fairly good in the deck. Or really anything expensive.) +1/+1 counters are cool, but we can probably go deeper than that. Charge counters, verse counters, etc. What would you suggest.
I do want to build Teysa at some point. She may wait when I have more money to pump into her though.
Hanna's cool, but I don't really want another artifact deck. Now, an ENCHANTMENT deck with Hanna could be cool. Kind of waiting to see about building Isperia the Inscrutable though, since I like the idea of wacky flying toolbox.
Hi guys. This is kind of abrupt, but I think I'm probably quitting magic, at least for a little while. Don't worry, I plan on staying active in the clan and talking to all of you, and I'm sure I'll still brew from time to time hypothetically. But I think it's gotten a little too demanding for me to play actively anymore.
As people stated in your thread, magic will be around later, no need to feel bad. Keep your major staples aside, sell your standard stuff maybe then take your break. We can still discuss cards, that won't cost a dime
Plus there is always cockatrice if ever you get the itch to play.
Sorry to hear of your troubles, Tsara. Just make an epic return to gameplay when you feel ready!
So, let's talk. How is everyone feeling about the gods from Nyx? Anything general-worthy? Which do you think are better as part of the 99? Anything you're excited to play?

The BW-god (At-[random letters]-s) has piqued my interest in Modern, but otherwise nothing really I want. The red double-striker that "draws" you card seems interesting for legacy/modern-burn, but I don't play burn, so...
Also, I'm not sure yet about whether or not I want Silence the Believers... It's a lot of mana, but my Sisters could use some instant-speed creature removal...

Kruphix and Athreos are both great potential generals I find, they bring some interesting mecanics for sure, even in a non-general role. Iroas is great as well but I see him as mostly a great support card to Aurelia or Gisela, particularly the latter,
I am incredibly disappointed in Pharika, I was looking forward to her reveal and it turns out that she is kind of a worse Withered Wretch in most cases :/. She is handy as a support card I guess but a lot of other cards kind of do her job better.
If only she gave you the snakes no matter who you removed the card from, that would've been so much better.
Well, now that the whole set it spoiled, how do you feel about it?
There's not much anything EDH worthy for me, but it still feels quite nice compared to THS and JOU and makes me want to go and draft it (which itself is an accomplishment, since I don't like drafting that much).
Also: Is it bad, if I've considered putting Word of Command in my Toshiro? Just for the laughs and for most intricate art ever.

For the set, there are quite a few cards I want to look into for EDH. The dictates particularly for my Karona deck but others as well. The gods of course. Quarry Colossus and its sort of cycle of guys having to do with the basic land types are pretty useful.
The rest is mostly smaller utility things like Banishing light as a spare O-ring etc.
As for Word of Command in Toshiro, I think its a great idea, word of command is a really cool and really tricky card.
On JOU: Honestly the set looks great. There are actually a lot of cards I'd want playsets of.
On my quitting: I've decided to stick it out until rotation. If I don't think I can afford it or do not want to play then, I will quit, or at least take a break.
Phenax, because I wouldn't have to change much about my mill deck and he's the only god I really like.
On another note... I rebuilt Niv finally and I play a lot of 1v1 with a friend since my group only gathers every other week. I built Niv within my budget this time, no proxies (one of the main goals and reasons for the decks deconstruction)... and I annihilated my friend turn five. I felt bad and it made me think about building Nekusar again since.. I'd actually have to cast some wheels to win.
It's OK. I destroyed a 5-player game with Nivvy 1.0 on T6 once. Everyone was really mad at me for being "that guy." I'm not gonna say I didn't mean to win, so when you have Long-term Plans, Thousand-Year Elixir, and enough mana in your opening hand, you just have to go for it. Removal is a thing, right? Right? >_>

... well... Few people have gotten angry at me for running instant-speed spot removal. Apparently, it is really stupid and unfun, when their creatures don't stick too long... (This happened at my university, too).

Grand Melee could make a good addition as well as Fumiko the Lowblood and Heartless Hidetsugu.
Acidic Soil, Repercussion, Manabarbs, Furnace of Rath and various table wide punishment cards work wonders as well.

- Sygg Riverguide; merfolk tribal can be rather fun and tricky to pull off.
- Sygg, River Cutthroat; A rather effective general in a very strong color pair. Potential for political shenanigans as well.
- Nin, the Pain Artist; A commander for combos and interesting interactions.
- Hanna, Ship's Navigator; Quite strong utility commander in a strong color pairing as well.
- Lyzolda, the Blood Witch and Tymaret, the Murder King; for Rakdos graveyard play.
- Teysa, Orzhov Scion; token resources deck.
- Vorel of the Hull Clade; a great little general that often gets over shadowed by Zeganna and Momir.
there are so many options but those are some of my favorites that meet your criteria.
PS: I rather like your Akuta deck giving me ideas for my own :D.

+1/+1 counters things.
- Mono green hydras are ideal for him when it comes to getting beat sticks. So Primordial Hydra, Feral Hydra, Mistcutter Hydra, Protean Hydra, Kalonian Hydra and a new favorite of mine Scourge of Skola Vale are all perfect for him without being too expensive.
- Champion of Lambholt is an allstar with Vorel around particularly.
- Cytospawn Shambler gains a lot more utility with this deck. other graft creatures as well of course.(Crowned Ceratok/Bramblewood Paragon also works)
- All evolve cards of course goes without saying.
- Death's Presence is amazing
- Sage of Fables
- Fertilid
- Mycoloth
- Triskelion and his bro Pentavus as well as the bastard born mixes in between.
- Bred for the Hunt is a great and sometimes forgotten card for this kind of deck.
Other counters:
- Orochi Hatchery
- Kinda cheap but meh: Magistrate's Scepter
- Everflowing Chalice/Gemstone Array/Astral Cornucopia/Pentad Prism as manarocks for this deck.
- Green infect and colorless sources of -1/-1 counters
- Lux Cannon
- Vivid lands/Gemstone mine: Now last forever hopefully.
- Hickory Woodlot and similar charge lands.
- Thrummingbird and other proliferate.
- Lighthouse Chronologist/Kazandu Tuskcaller and other level up cards.
- Umezawa's Jitte becomes potentially more broken. (but requires $$$)
- Surrakar Spellblade can be pretty neat and rarely sees play.
- Titan Forge is really cool and works so much better with Vorel.
Other important includes to help him along:
Illusionist's Bracers, Rings of Brighthearth, Thousand-Year Elixir, Seedborn Muse/Prophet of Kruphix or Awakening are definatly a big help.
