I've been buying books, lately. Anyone heard of Vampire Hunter D? It's an older anime, if you haven't. I've been reading the light novel series. I'm on book 3 now, Demon Deathchase. The writing is appropriately fantastic enough to inspire anime. The protagonist is nigh-unstoppable and can pull off some pretty outlandish stunts. There's no power-creep, either. He's that badass in the first book. They're an enjoyable, light bit of entertainement.
Any other avid readers here? I'm always looking for suggestions.
I've heard of it, but haven't seen it myself.
Also, for suggestions: What types of series/genres you like? I read, watch etc. quite a lot of things, so if I try to recommend something to you, if you like...

Mostly fantasy, but I also enjoy thrillers, horrors, sci-fi, historical and psychological books. Last serie I finished: Hunger Games, that was good and all, but not amazing... The second one was pretty useless. Now reading: A Song of Fire and Ice, Tome 1. Finally decided to read this awesome serie and I already love it. 5000 pages are a lot, though.

Well, for starters, here are few that you might have not heard of...
For crime-thrillers, I've really enjoyed Leena Lehtolainen's works, for they are rather realistic, told from the perspective of a novice detective, trying to balance her normal life and work.
Oh, and since you said you like fantasy, and judging by the other genre's, I think you might like Fuyumi Ono's novel serie Twelve Kingdoms (I bought it and loved it). For best summary, I'm going to quote you this:
"The Twelve Kingdoms plays an awful lot like a cynical writer watched one too many bad Trapped in Another World series and thought, 'Okay, what would really happen if you threw an insecure teenage girl into a war-torn fantasy world?'"
(And just that you know, my current avatar is one of the main characters from the novels, Enki.)
But before I forget: Are you people interested in having another intra-clan competition?

Yes!
However, thanks a lot for the suggestions! Totally looking for them in some months, when I'll have SoFaI finished
Just made a Scion of the Ur-dragon Artifact deck... it is beautiful... so many combos, slap a curiosity on scion to surprise swing a "niv-mizzet" for game... or even sanguine bond with treva after spawning all those saprolings with rith.
And if anyone is interested check out Myst its a good fantasy book.
I've honestly had worse boxes. At least it wasn't all junk rares. But disappointment is one of the reasons I almost never buy boxes, or packs, anymore. I'm not much for gambling...unless the odds are in my favor.
Sounds like a good buy.

I've heard of Vampire Hunter D. Never seen it, though it is on my "to watch" list.
For book recommendations.... The Artifact Cycle! Especially "Brothers' War." 'Tis truly epic. It made me want to build a clockwork artifact EDH afterwards.. and an old-school suicide Black deck >_>
Here is some food for thought: We're on the eve of a new set (Born of the Gods) and there may be cards put on/leaving the ban list. Anything you guys would like to see added or removed? Personally I just want to see Prophet of Kuphrix get the axe. Its the biggest clone target and is hard to remove in its colors (between counter spells and getting hexproof.).

Depends on what you're looking for. Based on what you said, I recommend Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan. The content and philosophical material give it depth, without lack of over the top violence. If you like cyberpunk at all, this is must-read.
Oooooh. I was checking the general EDH forums, Magic General, and Rumour Mill and didn't find anything. I guess it was just under a more specific section.
Also, for suggestions: What types of series/genres you like? I read, watch etc. quite a lot of things, so if I try to recommend something to you, if you like...
I usually read fantasy, sci-fi, true crime, and thrillers. I'll read anything, as long as it grabs my attention.
I'm going to look into The Twelve Kingdoms. They sound interesting.

They don't get any easier. That's one of my absolute favorite series. Now George R. R. Martin needs to hurry up and finish the next one!

I've already read Altered Carbon. I've been meaning to get the sequels to it. Morgan is an author I enjoy very much. He also wrote a fantasy novel that was really good. It was called The Steel Remains. If you like his stuff, you should check it out.

Good, I will check it out. Currently finishing up The Mountains of Madness by Lovecraft (so cool). Too many books, too little time.
Born of the Gods looks OK. I might buy a few singles. Not sure yet.

Some old classic favorites of mine are The Swiss Family Robinson and Treasure Island.
