Finally updated Lazav's decklist and added a link to my sig, took longer than hoped. Still have to do Queen. Also, been putting together a Sapling of Colfenor deck in place of a Chainer deck. Since it didn't seem like I was getting the card I wanted for Chainer. I think I might be able to make a decent Dredge style deck with the Sapling.. *shrug* It's a decent draw every turn.
Hey guys. Can I hang out here? I just ordered all the pieces to my Oloro last week and they should be here Monday. I also just recently finished building this Patron of the Orochi and before that this Crovax, Ascendant Hero. I also have a Riku and a Progenitus made up. I just don't currently have anywhere to talk about these things.
Just to get to know you better, some general questions! (There used to be a fun little survey, but I don't know where that is anymore.)
What is your favourite colour to use in decks?
What archetype (aggro, combo, or control) do you find yourself using pay often?
Who is your favourite planeswalker? Why?
That should be enough interrogation for now.
***
Anyways, I'm moving back to the States next month, so I'll once again be playing actively with real cards (not just on 'trice)! Totally excited to be reunited with my decks... I'll have to bring them with me when I move back to Japanlater this year. Siiiigh. Moving is such a hassle.
What is your favourite colour to use in decks?
What archetype (aggro, combo, or control) do you find yourself using pay often?
Who is your favourite planeswalker? Why?
1. Blue. I love the surprise element, and I love turning my opponent's toys against them. Blue can do things no other color can do, like Bribery, Time Stop, and Reins of Power (which, incidentally, is my favorite card).
2. I am a Johnny, Combo Player through and through. I also have a bit of Vorthos in me... I'll complete my All Hallow's Eve deck eventually.
3. I don't really care for planeswalkers that much (I started playing in '94, if that helps explain a little bit), but if I had to pick one it'd be Nicol Bolas, because Nicol Bolas.
I've been around this site for forever. I used to have a graphics/sig shop a few years ago, and had three trophies for winning the weekly contest 20 times back when trophies were a thing. I am a former member of the Coffeehouse, back when that was a thing. I think I'm currently a member of MTGS-Brigade, but that place is deserted these days, I don't know half the people in there, and nobody there really talks about Magic in the thread. I suppose I should submit my resignation there.
I have been quite a few places and done many things, but mostly I'm an English teacher. I have a BA in English and TESOL certification, and I previously lived in Japan for two years doing just that. I've been home in the states (Ohio, specifically) for a while now BUT... I'm going back! I recently got hired by one of the large chain schools, and my paperwork should be done sometime this month, so I'll be moving back to Japan very soon. It's very exciting for me at the moment. Until I get the paperwork finalized I won't actually know where I'll be teaching in Japan... I really don't care too much as long as it's not Tokyo. I actually kinda hope it's Kyoto, because I lived in Kyoto for 6 months, and those were some of the best months of my life thus far. We'll see what happens.
What else... I play almost exclusively EDH any more. My favorite commander is Riku and my favorite non-commander deck is a modified "The Sparkler" Tempest precon based around Reins of Power and Goblin Bombardment. Other hobbies include fantasy & sci-fi literature, and anime (Here's my Hummingbird and MAL, if anyone cares to take a look). I am a fan of Sherlock Holmes, both the original stories and the BBC show. I used to play D&D, and Decipher's Star Wars D6 system back in the day. I'm currently enjoying Game of Thrones and reading The Lies of Locke Lamora.
What is your favourite colour to use in decks?
My favorite color used to be blue but since I nowadays play almost exclusively Commander, green has clearly become my new #1. Even white is more playable in CMD than blue. At the same time, this format has cemented red's position as my least favorite color.
What archetype do you find yourself using pay often?
I'm a crappy aggro player, in every format, and I quite categorically despise combo, so that leaves me with control
Who is your favourite planeswalker? Why?
Venser. He's handsome and he blinks Now that I think about it, he may also be the only PW I have in a CMD deck...
I didn't know you were a member of MTGS Brigade (I'm their friend and stalk the thread). I took a look at your list: Congrats! You are almost a true-fan (>100 days of anime on MAL). I watch anime much less than I read manga.

Yesterday at the shop, I tried playing Iroas, but it took about half a game to start missing Tajic and his curvy blade. Iroas's effect is neat, sure, but still it was only useful about twice, and he only became a creature once.
Of the other new cards, Godsend's only real advantage was increasing devotion. Other than that, I'd have rather had pretty much almost any other three-mana equipment, really.
Next time I go (in two weeks, because next week I'll be in Iceland), I'll try to do some testing and thinking on Kira. As it's presently, the deck is somewhere halfway between Kira and Azami and could go either way, so I may want to experiment with the latter as well, and then decide which way to go.
Yeah, the gods seem to be rather underwhelming from what I hear. Only about 2 or 3 are competitive (not that non-competitive is bad). I reckon, R&D is now being really careful with the legendaries it makes in standard sets because they're trying to be conscious of the EDH meta. That doesn't explain the brokenness of certain C13 legendaries, though... *cough*Derevi*cough*...

Yeah, and not only Derevi. Everytime WotC tries to design commanders for EDH, they end up being a tad broken (and linear) in one way or another.

Find out what your Clans think of the contests. Find out what they want changed about the clan contests. How do we increase enthusiasm? Are they wanted at all? Difficult questions, difficult answers.
We are currently discussing about whether we shall keep on having Clan Contest or completely got rid of them forever, and to figure out what to do, we want each clans opinions. And, not only reps like mine, but opinions of normal clan members. So, I want to hear your opinions.
Do you like them? What do you want to do with them? Do you want to them to be funniness contest, or maybe something more serious?
Please guys, this is VERY IMPORTANT to us. Thank you.

I like the contests. I dont know about that god statement. I main deck the mono red the BR and the RU god in the same deck (young grixis) they serve me well and they have been responsible for more than a few wins.
Hey guys long time no see so I was playing two headed giant. I play vorinclex my teamate copies it then uses timestretches then my opponents concede. But anyways hows everyone doing
Any ideas? It just seems split over trying to do too many things at the moment, and in testing Iv'e discovered I need to add in some board wipes pretty badly.
Clan mafia sounds pretty fun. I think I tried to play Mafia online before but couldn't get the hang of it. Bur, if you think you can handle the rules (or at least explain them in an easy-to-understand manner), then we should be fine.
RE:Variant EDH
We've only played Planechase with EDH, using 1 PC deck and all (or as many as possible) of the planes. Some planes really suck, not just mechanically. I remember getting stuck in Nephalia for about 5 rounds, so practically no one had a library anymore. Everyone plays recursion, don't get me wrong, but getting stuck on a plane which doesn't synergize with anyone's deck is pretty miserable.
RE:Orolo
I wouldn't worry too much about "draining" effects. The lifegain that Orolo naturally provides will 9 times out of 10 be better than anything you could cast. (Exsanguinate would be worth running as a finisher, but people hate getting one-shotted like that... just depends on who you're playing with).
Also, you're running a lot of high-CMC creatures... Depending on how you're planning to win, this could be good or very bad. Personally, when I make a control deck, I try to limit myself to 5-6 "finisher" creatures as back-up to a combo-win. Those creatures almost never exceed 6 CMC (the exception is Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite because she's awesome in control), and they all have an effect that helps maintain the state of control that I've (hopefully) already achieved by the time I drop them.
If your main win-con is the creatures themselves, you still might want to consider reducing the number of 6+ CMC critters. Reason being, even in late-game with a highly developed field position, you can cast more creatures if they cost less. This gains you more bodies on the battlefield per turn. In early- to mid-game, a lower CMC creature can help you keep mana open for counters or removal.
Anyways, that's just my two cents about something I noticed about your deck. Cheers!
Well, I haven't played mafia ever online, but I've played it quite a few times IRL though I am nowhere near pro at it.
Anyways, I'd appreciate if someone else would be in it too (especially if clans play as one), since I'll be somewhat busy with my work at times. (Well, not busy, just without proper internet connection).
Anyways, have you been busy with your studies?

Yeah, I'm giving my final presentation tomorrow. I'm certain it'll put everyone to sleep.
I'm also in the midst of moving. I'm going back to the States in a week and come back about 3 months later for a second helping of research. So, I'm looking for a place to store my stuff in the interrem. It's turning out to be quite a hassle.
Also: Working 12h/day sucks, but the salary is good. I keep going on with thinking of ABURs and Gaea's Cradle.

I'll introduce myself once I get the OK.

Specifically, my EDH decks are:
Riku of Two Reflections (This is horribly outdated; I really should fix this list)
Crovax, Ascendant Hero (current)
Patron of the Orochi (current)
Oloro, Ageless Ascetic (This is only approximate. I just ordered the cards and it will probably change.)
Progenitus (It's a mess of 5 color goodstuff and I don't even have a list up)
I feel like I could write a small novel, but that's enough for now, I suppose.

The next Clan Contest that will be held is the Clan Mafia.
We would like to know if there is enough interest from the clans to set this game up.
Please send me a PM to inform us whether your clan is interested in joining.
Thank you for your attention, I now return you to your regularly scheduled clan conversations.
Also: What's the most interested EDH variation you guys have played? EDH with planechase? EDH-cube?
I'm really struggling to put together my Oloro deck. I can't decide which direction out of several possible I want the deck to go in.
Options so far:
1. Taxing effects: Liability, Patron of the Nezumi, Poisonbelly Ogre
2. Drain effects: Scholar of Athreos, Subversion, Blind Obedience
3. Pillow fort: Propaganda, Circle of Despair, Silent Arbiter, Righteous Aura
4. ETB triggers: Auriok Champion, Living Death, Twilight's Call, Genesis Chamber
5. Finishers: Kokusho, The Evening Star, Death to the Debtless, Exsanguinate
Here's my current list.
Any ideas? It just seems split over trying to do too many things at the moment, and in testing Iv'e discovered I need to add in some board wipes pretty badly.
