EDIT: There was another order of business I wanted to discuss today: Our next thread name.
We are rapidly approaching 1,000 posts in this thread, and if I'm correct, it is tradition to archive every 1,000 posts. So, what should our new thread name be once we make a new one?
Remember, the name should be something witty and funny involving [The Spirit of EDH], such as a joke about it not liking MLD, Stax, etc. Whatever ideas you have post them here and we can decide on the best name amongst the Elder Dragons and other members.
Also going to clean out our members list of "Norin's" that haven't done anything here since joining. I might PM them with a notification, if I get around to it.
There's a couple of people that should be upgraded to 'Legendary Member' status, specifically UFOPOLI and Dangit12.
As for the new thread title, we should probably put it up to a vote.
My suggestion: "[The Spirit of EDH]: Our Decks Are Bigger Than Yours"

I'll go work on upgrading them (PM them, change list etc.).
And I like that thread name, it fits in with the other thread names in this forum pretty well. Any other suggestions anyone?
EDIT: UFOPOLI and Dangit12 have been promoted! We also had 6 Norins who were moved to inactive members. I will send them a PM about it to hopefully get them to return (!?!).
I wasn't overly impressed with Theros, to be honest. I didn't find any of the gods except Purphyros to be that interesting. I felt that Triad of Fates was particularly horrible though. I was really hoping for a strong b/w legendary creature and that one fell incredibly short.
(Sorry I've been inactive, I'm bad at this.)

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just pop in and post something, when you can.
As for the Triad, I think they could be ok. Aside from the obvious interaction with Oblivion Stone, they'll be bonkers with Ashen Rider. Just flicker the rider and exile a permanent. I thought it was going to be two, but the second trigger is only when it dies. Oh well.

But it's four mana. All of it's abilities are tapping abilities, and you have to have a fate counter on it in order to use either of it's other abilities. Assuming you don't have a haste enabler and no acceleration it's turn four before you get it out, turn five for a fate counter, and then turn six to use it's other abilities.
It's just slow and bad, I don't know. I think it's junk. Especially when there's a lot more effective blink stuff (for it's white ability) and card draw for it's black ability.

I'm not saying it's going to be a "top-tier" general, by any means. It could lead to some interesting decks. There are plenty of haste enablers (i.e. Thousand-Year Elixir), that you could starting putting out fate counters on turn four. Plus, having a repeatable exile effect is awesome. You hand them a couple of cards, which is nice and political, but you get rid of something (hopefully) worse.

There are few things I dislike more than giving my opponents more cards. Especially players in R/G who tend to run out of gas first. I don't think we're going to see eye to eye on this card because I feel like it has absolutely no redeeming qualities at all.

I don't expect we will. It's all good though. I'm sure your assessment is spot-on. I'm just looking at it from a different angle.

I HATE giving other people cards! The power of potential cards in your opponent's hands is devastating! That's why I always try to shut down my friend's Phyrexian Arena whenever he plays it, because I know he needs those extra cards (I traded for a Phyrexian Arena yesterday BTW, super happy!).
Also, welcome back Lady Valkyrie, you have been moved back to the new members list!
Design (6/10 pts.)
Creativity: Power of Fire that turns the creature colorless. (-3 pt.)
Elegance: No problems.
Potential: Seems like a Limited card, though some are piqued by it turning the creature colorless. (-1 pt.)
Development (8/10 pts.)
Balance: Power of Fire says this should be 1R and at common. (-2 pt.)
Viability: Red is the only color that gets this effect anymore.
Polish (5/5 pts.)
Total: 19/25 pts.
:2mana::symr: and uncommon because I based it off Arcane Teachings and Lightning Prowess. Both of those cards are the same cost because they give the activated ability and something else.
Design (7/10 pts.)
Creativity: Eating a creature alive, making food for Eldrazi babies. Love the flavor. This is a pretty unique effect.
Elegance: What does the last clause even do? I'm not sure. (-2 pt.)
Potential: It's a big effect, but Spike yawns at seven-mana auras. (-1 pt.)
Development (9.5/10 pts.)
Balance: Seems fine, perhaps even overcosted, at 7 mana. (-0.5 pt.)
Viability: Eldrazi-flavored definitely.
Polish (4/5 pts.)
The clause defining what X is should be closer to where the X is. (-1 pt.)
Total: 20.5/25 pts.
"Otherwise, put one of those tokens onto the battlefield." was a mistake. I was trying to take the card in a different direction and didn't proof read it before posting. I was going through some family stuff at the time and was just trying to beat the dead-line.
Design (10/10 pts.)
Creativity: This is how you do a clone in red. Never been done before!
Elegance: Perfect!
Potential: I think all groups like this one. Well done!
Development (9/10 pts.)
Balance: RRR seems like a fine cost to put this at, given clones are usually 4 cmc.
Viability: Did you forget to given the token haste? Other than that, no problems. (-1 pt.)
Polish (4.75/5 pts.)
Missing a comma after the clause stating it copies a creature.
Total: 23.75/25 pts.
I'm actually quite happy with the way this card came out. Haste did slip my mind, but it was meant to be on there.

Yeah, I always love when people play things like Rites of Flourishing and Howling Mine/Font of Mythos; because people play that as their only card draw and it just helps me letting me hold mine own back.
But yeah, I destroy single-person card draw all the time. Set Abominae has recently gotten a Honden of Seeing Winds for his blue decks. And it's like "God damnit".

That's why you always gotta pack a Krosan Grip man (or hull breach, but I've NEVER been able to 2-for-1 in my group yet, they're just too creature heavy).
BTW, who is Set Abominae? I can see that he's looking at the thread, but it seems we haven't met before. If you're reading this, feel free to pop your head in on the clan, we won't mind!

Does anyone else get the feeling that the age of WotC producing "top-tier" generals is over now that they are so aware of EDH as a format? I remember being so excited in RTR block because of how many legends it was boasting, only to be entirely let down. Sure, there's good /very good generals to be had -- but top-tier? I'm not so convinced... Theros feels the same way: the legends are veeeery balanced..
I'm not sure about the upcoming precons. Almost nothing has been made known, but the two generals that have been spoiled don't interest me in the least... :/
Just wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a Secret Santa type thing. I mean, I don't celebrate Christmas, but I like the idea of doing a card swap. Its a bit early, but if we did decide to do it, it would take quite a bit of planning.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a secret santa thing? All we need are a list of participants, each person randomly assigned a person and then we all mail a magic card (value depends on your generosity) to that person. Takes a top loader an envelope and a stamp, I've mailed many magic cards like that and never had a problem. They can take a while to set up and have in the mail and stuff before Grixis day.

The idea seems nice, and I guess that counts as trading so it's no against the site rules... *super good at getting warning for weird things*
But, as you said it takes some time to plan it all AND as we have people in Europe and USA (and Canada?) we should reserve 1 month for the post. At least every time I order something from USA, it takes me 3-4 weeks to arrive (2 if super-fast).
