It also wouldn't be completely broken anymore! That ability seems like it would be much better to fit the ally tribal theme, since all they like to do is enter the battlefield for profit.
Yes, exactly but i think now it's too late to change the card, so i get along with the one I posted. Missed a good card though
I have a purpose for the after-contest: everyone, posting his decklist, will remember to put the description of the new cards he created. Then, the Cockatrice users who want to can decide via PM an hour for playing with their precons. For example, if i want to play with raikou and he's on Cockatrice, i'll send him a PM asking for a precon duel. If he want to, he'll send me the hour and then we play, keeping mtgs open for looking at the effects of the cards the other one invented
For those who don't know how to "proxy" cards on cockatrice, just searching your decklist card by card, click on load deck from clipboard and write down your decklist. The cards that you invented will have no card type on the decklist and will appear like a grey proxy to all players during the game.
What do you think about it? I think we should at least try!
Theros lands are OK. They're only really playable if Amulet of Vigor is in the deck, so at least there's a chance of coming into play untapped. Scry isn't bad, but I'm a terribly greedy person, so I want to scry and tap for mana
The UG wizard is nuts. So much better than Seedborn Muse... It only requires you to play the two strongest colours of the format. Oh no...
I think the theros lands are pretty good. I'm going to try them in all decks that can use them. I sort of wish they were uncommon, but ah well. Scry is hugely underrated and can be worth it if you're willing to take a small hit to the curve.
And yeah, the wizard is crazy good. Simic did not need another muse.....that gives flash...
Design (7.5/10 pts.)
Creativity: The source of a triggered ability hasn't been changed yet.
Aesthetics: A bit wordy, and the second ablity just looks weird. (-1.5 pt)
Potential: Timmy loves copying big abilities, and Johnny loves copying things in general. Spike says bleh. Vorthos is bored. (-1 pt)
Development (8/10 pts.)
Balance: I like the 4 toughness. Triggering on nontoken is good due to infinite shenanigans.
Viability: I'm actually unsure why this is red. This feels like a GU card to me. I can sorta see it because there are artifacts that copy triggered abilities. (-2 pt)
Polish (3.25/5 pts.)
"enters play" -> "enters the battlefield" (-0.5 pt)
"copy any triggered abilities" -> "copy any abilities that triggered this way" (-0.5 pt)
"Hexproof" -> "hexproof" (-0.25 pt)
"of power 5" -> "with power 5" (-0.5 pt)
Design (6.5/10 pts.)
Creativity: Nothing special--reminds me of a Terastodon that kills only creatures. (-2 pt)
Aesthetics: Nothing problematic at all.
Potential: Timmy loves big flying dudes that trample. Johnny rolls his eyes. Spike loves the potential for a one-hit kill. Vorthos is bored from generic-ness. (-1.5 pt)
Development (10/10 pts.)
Balance: I like the scaling in multiplayer, and that he's removal on a stick. I actually think he could have a base P/T of 1/1 or 2/2 and still be fine.
Viability: No issues at all.
Design (9/10 pts.)
Creativity: I don't think we've seen a Turtle legend yet. We've seen these abilities on other creatures, but never together. (-0.5 pt)
Elegance: A lot of abilities, but they seem fine together. Not penalizing you here.
Potential: Timmy doesn't know what to say about this. Johnny loves weird effects like attacking with walls. Spike is a little bored but doesn't mind. Vorthos screams poetry at how the creature types line up. (-0.5 pt)
Development (10/10 pts.)
Balance: This is at the perfect mana cost. Well done.
Viability: Green shroud, white vigilance/defender attack, blue PT switching. Seems fine to me.
Polish (4.25/5 pts.)
"Shroud" -> "shroud" (-0.25 pt)
"Defender" -> "defender" (-0.25 pt) Not going to penalize multiple instances.
"all attacking creatures" -> "all attacking creatures'" (-0.25 pt)
Design (7/10 pts.)
Creativity: There's been only a few whales in all of Magic. Trample and islandwalk make sense on a giant sea creature. Gobbling up creatures makes sense from a flavor perspective. No flavor text? (-1.5 pt.)
Elegance: Once the templating mistakes are fixed, this is actually an elegant card.
Potential: Timmy likes giant sea creatures. Vorthos likes the abilities that come together to make a whale. Everyone else is bored. (-1.5 pt.)
Development (4/10 pts.)
Balance: A 4/4 for 3 with multiple upside abilities is way over the curve. (-2 pt.)
Viability: The "vampire" ability is black, and there is nothing white about this creature at all. (-4 pt.)
Design (8/10 pts.)
Creativity: Shade Advisor has never been done before. The name doesn't quite match the abilities, though.
Elegance: The second ability can be more concisely worded--maybe be split into two abilities. (-1 pt)
Potential: Timmy screams "EACH upkeep?!" Johnny sees the lifegain drawback as a puzzle. Spike loves the insane amount of card draw you can have with it. Vorthos doesn't see how the abilities and name match. (-1 pt)
Development (9/10 pts.)
Balance: If it's a six-mana 2/2, it BETTER have insane abilities. You hit the nail on the head here I think. Powerful without being broken.
Viability: This card is just barely white, but it fit all three colors. Why is this a shade, though? Shades always have a pumping ability. (-1 pt)
Polish (3.75/5 pts.)
"Adviser" -> "Advisor" (-0.25 pt.)
Second ability should be worded "You draw X cards and you lose X life, where X is the number of creatures that died this turn. Each opponent gains life equal to the life lost this way." (-1 pt.)
Design (7/10 pts.)
Creativity: So it's a one-time-use legendary Magus of the Tabernacle? Been done before. The name makes it feel more like an Un-card, though. (-2 pt.)
Elegance: No issues at all.
Potential: Spike likes it as a pseudo-Wrath, and Vorthos laughs at the flavor. Johnny shrugs, and Timmy is bored. (-1 pt)
Development (6/10 pts.)
Balance: This looks pretty devastating to aggro. Maybe needs to cost four mana and be a 3/3? (-1.5 pt.)
Viability: I don't really see how this is green. WU is the taxing color combination. Other than that, just the name bugs me. Why is this mythic rare? (-2.5 pt.)
Design (7.5/10 pts.)
Creativity: This is the Ally commander everyone wanted in Zendikar block! No other creature types, though? (-2 pt.)
Elegance: No problems here.
Potential: Timmy and Johnny both love tribal synergies, and Spike loves tribal in general. (-0.5 pt.)
Development (9/10 pts.)
Balance: Probably could be a 5/5 or so, since a WUBRG vanilla creature is an 8/8. (-1 pt.)
Viability: No other issues.
Polish (3.5/5 pts.)
"become" -> "becomes" (-0.25 pt.)
"it's" -> "its" (-0.25 pt.)
Flavor text should be italicized. (-1 pt.)
Design (9.5/10 pts.)
Creativity: I like the use of the Snow supertype here.
Elegance: No way to make this more concise, and there's room for flavor text. The only problem I have is the hybrid mana symbol in the cost feels kinda random. (-0.5 pt.)
Potential: Johnny sees a puzzle in making the Defender drawback useless or a benefit. Spike sees great turtling potential but cringes at the 3 toughness. VOrthos loves figuring out where the flavor in the card's name comes from. Timmy likes his invincible walls. Well done.
Development (9/10 pts.)
Balance: THis could have 4 or 5 toughness. You're paying five mana for a creature that does nothing but make your team turtle. (-1 pt.)
Viability: Seems perfect for a control player to hide inside.
Polish (4.5/5 pts.)
You're missing a period on the flavor text and on the second ability. (-0.5 pt.)
Design (7/10 pts.)
Creativity: "the Unseen" has already been used as a title, sorry. (-2 pt.)
Elegance: No issues here.
Potential: Johnny loves things that scale, and Timmy likes getting value out of every spell he casts. Spike says "too expensive". (-1 pt.)
Development (8/10 pts.)
Balance: Kaervek the Merciless says this is about right.
Viability: Is there a reason why this is colorless? This doesn't feel like a mythic rare, either. Certainly not for complexity reasons. (-2 pt.)
Polish (4.5/5 pts.)
Missing some punctuation in spots. (-0.5 pt.)
I guess my general wasn't very "creative" but other than that I did ok! I've never liked creatures that do VERY abstract things, but that's just me. I think you were very fair with your judging Raikou Rider.
What exactly do you mean? People who made it to round 2, or rules for round 2?
I believe the next part are the rules for building a deck around this legendary creature. How many commons, uncommons and rares to be used in addition to new cards (if any). Quite excited.
Also, I won Magic Celebration 2013. Greatest pyromancer this clan has ever seen! /flex

Did your store give you anything? Because I went 2-0 in all 3 of my games and got nothing for it except the one extra pack
They even kept track of our wins on the computer, and then nothing. We also didn't get to choose the color of our starter decks (mine was white) BUT could add any cards to the deck that we wanted, including basic lands, so I made mine Azorious (Domestication+foil Quicken in your pack along with cancel and messenger drake was pretty good...)
Still sad that I didn't really win anything else........ But I bought a cheap copy of Greater Good today too! Exciting stuff for a budget EDH player.

We got the pack to start, then were given the choice of starter decks after open the pack. I was going red no matter what because it was a free tourny. After we cut to top 4, everyone was given a second pack. When all was said and done, it was a free tournament. It is actually quite rare that I even get to play in such an event, generally I have to work. If we didn't get to pick our starter deck, I would have done miserably.
Before the event started, I was buying cards I thought would finish my new Vorel of the Hull Clade deck. . .I've never been so wrong. Also working on a new deck featuring a custom general. Should be fun. =3
Round 2 will require you to design three new cards and feature three reprints:
1) New card #1 must be an uncommon. New card #2 must be a rare. New card #3 can be uncommon, rare, or mythic rare, but if it is mythic rare, it must be a legendary creature in your commander's color identity.
2) None of the reprints can be Reserved List cards. Concerning reprints, try to watch secondary market value. These decks are supposed to MSRP at $29.99. Extremely expensive reprints will be frowned upon.
Round 2 submissions will be due at 12 am CDT on 9/12/13, when Wednesday becomes Thursday.

1) New card #1 must be an uncommon. New card #2 must be a rare. New card #3 can be uncommon, rare, or mythic rare, but if it is mythic rare, it must be a legendary creature in your commander's color identity.
2) None of the reprints can be Reserved List cards, and none of the reprints can have been printed in more than one set. Cards with a printing in only one set and a promo printing are fine. (For instance, Vampire Nighthawk is not okay, but Remand is. The reprints must fit your deck's theme.
Round 2 submissions will be due at 12 am CDT on 9/12/13, when Wednesday becomes Thursday.
Do you want full card renders for these? Or just the text? (I might just do full cards anyways, but finding art is ANNOYING!)
Where can i download this cockatrice programa, i entered in this website http://www.cockatrice.de/, all i see is about Hasbro telling the guy to close his project, and dont see any download button.
Missing apostrophe. I know it's picky, but it's only 0.25 pt. It's my job to be picky.
Didn't noticed it, too small
However, i'll be the first one for the round 2!
New card #1
Mul Daya Spellbreaker3G
Creature - Elf Shaman Ally (U)
Whenever Mul Daya Spellbreaker or another Ally enters the battlefield under your control, you may destroy target enchantment.
If that enchantment is put into a graveyard this way, you gain life equal to the number of Allies you control.
2/2
New card #2
Affa Insurgent2RR
Creature - Human Berserk Ally (R)
Haste
Whenever Affa Insurgent or another Ally enters the battlefield under your control, gain control of target creature an opponent controls until end of turn.
Untap that creature. It gains haste until end of turn.
3/2
New card #3
Jwar Isle Archmage2U
Creature - Merfolk Wizard Ally (R) T: Counter target spell unless its controller pays X, where X is the number of the Allies you control.
1/1
Now that i've edited with one card for each color, it looks way better. Oh, and i decided the name for the precon too! It will be "Strenght in Unity".
More than appropriated, though
(:sym2w: can be paid with any two mana or with :symw:. This card's converted mana cost is 10.)
Other Scarecrow creatures you control get +1/+1.
Sacrifice another non-token creature: Put a token onto the battlefield that is a copy of that creature. It is a Scarecrow in addition to its other types.
She'll fix you, whether you're broken or not.
6/6
The idea was heavily inspired by Beldam/Other Mother from Coraline. What do you guys think?
Ooooh. I've got pretty good idea what I want for my pre-con deck, but now I just need the make the choice. I've got tons of cards I'd like to reprint for my deck.
Also, I today finished my yukata for next weekend's convention (anime AND mtg, the two passions of my life). It turned out pretty well and I like the outcome...

That sounds fun! Did you go for a simple fabric or something patterned? Can we see pics of it?
Speaking of anime, I'm watching Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C 2nd Gig. Again. For the fiftieth time. That number might be exaggerated. So good!
You deemed my general "silver-bordered", so I'll stay true to the flavor

Arcane Labrador :1mana::symg::symu:
Creature — Dog Advisor (U)
Exalted
When Arcane Labrador enters the battlefield, draw a card. Only the dog knows for sure.
2/3
Doggelgänger :3mana::symu::symu:
Creature — Dog Shapeshifter (R) Imprint — When Doggelgänger enters the battlefield, you may reveal a creature card from your hand. If you do, Doggelgänger enters the battlefield as a copy of the revealed card.
2/4
Sow of Temptation :1mana::symw:
Creature — Pig Wizard
Flash
When Sow of Temptation enters the battlefield, gain control of all permanents you own.
:symu:: Sow of Temptation phases out.
All I got for right now. Going through some stuff so I can't focus on this. I'll edit or repost the completed thing later.
Ghostfire Brand :2mana::symr:
Enchantment - Aura [U]
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature is colorless and has "t: This creature deals 1 damage to target creature or player."
Abhorrent Spawning7
Tribal Enchantment - Eldrazi Aura [R]
Enchant creature
At the beginning of your upkeep, enchanted creature's controller sacrifices it and you put X 0/1 colorless Eldrazi Spawn creature tokens onto the battlefield. They have "Sacrifice this creature: Add {1} to your mana pool." Otherwise, put one of those tokens onto the battlefield. X is equal to that creature's converted mana cost.
Spark Reflection :symr::symr::symr:
Creature - Shapeshifter [R]
You may have Spark Reflection enter the battlefield as a copy of any creature on the battlefield except it doesn't copy that creature's color and it gains "At the beginning of the end step, sacrifice Spark Reflection."

Do you want full card renders for these? Or just the text? (I might just do full cards anyways, but finding art is ANNOYING!)
Special thanks to Heroes of the Plane Studios for the avatar and Inkfox Aesthetics for the sig.

Renders have never been required.

That's what text submissions are for.
I wouldn't have penalized 4/4. Just remember, even Child of Alara, a trampling creature that Disks when it dies, is still a 6/6.
Missing apostrophe. I know it's picky, but it's only 0.25 pt. It's my job to be picky.

Card renders are way more classy
Didn't noticed it, too small
However, i'll be the first one for the round 2!
New card #1
Mul Daya Spellbreaker 3G
Creature - Elf Shaman Ally (U)
Whenever Mul Daya Spellbreaker or another Ally enters the battlefield under your control, you may destroy target enchantment.
If that enchantment is put into a graveyard this way, you gain life equal to the number of Allies you control.
2/2
New card #2
Affa Insurgent 2RR
Creature - Human Berserk Ally (R)
Haste
Whenever Affa Insurgent or another Ally enters the battlefield under your control, gain control of target creature an opponent controls until end of turn.
Untap that creature. It gains haste until end of turn.
3/2
New card #3
Jwar Isle Archmage 2U
Creature - Merfolk Wizard Ally (R)
T: Counter target spell unless its controller pays X, where X is the number of the Allies you control.

Harsh Mercy
Aphetto Dredging
Obelisk of Alara
Now that i've edited with one card for each color, it looks way better. Oh, and i decided the name for the precon too! It will be "Strenght in Unity".
More than appropriated, though
I'm so excited for the Minotaur Renaissance. The dawning of a new age has arrived!
Good job guys! I'm excited to see what else people come up with for their precons.
I'm not trying to jump into the competition, but I did come up with a Legendary creature.
Stitcher Queen :sym2w::sym2u::sym2b::sym2r::sym2g:
Legendary Artifact Creature- Scarecrow
(:sym2w: can be paid with any two mana or with :symw:. This card's converted mana cost is 10.)
Other Scarecrow creatures you control get +1/+1.
Sacrifice another non-token creature: Put a token onto the battlefield that is a copy of that creature. It is a Scarecrow in addition to its other types.
She'll fix you, whether you're broken or not.
6/6 The idea was heavily inspired by Beldam/Other Mother from Coraline. What do you guys think?

My avatar is Disappointing!
Also, I today finished my yukata for next weekend's convention (anime AND mtg, the two passions of my life). It turned out pretty well and I like the outcome...
Take a look at the new archon from Theros, he's pretty awesome!
/OFFTOPIC
I saw it, made me want to go through with a black/white deck with flicker effects.

I bet he's tons of fun with a conjurer's closet, or deadeye navigator...

Thanks!
Seems legit. Probably something I'd pick up for a Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter deck.
That sounds fun! Did you go for a simple fabric or something patterned? Can we see pics of it?
Speaking of anime, I'm watching Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C 2nd Gig. Again. For the fiftieth time. That number might be exaggerated. So good!

My avatar is Disappointing!
Technically, it costs four because it also has to pay the tax itself.
I thought it was a rule that the new generals were supposed to be mythic...?
