I'm not a fan of names like "Dark Naya" for decks. Why don't you just call them what they are, which is "No Blue" or something like that? I mean, Dark Naya means that you're running RGW and a hint of B, which is everything but U. What's with this misleading naming nonsense?
I guess it's just cooler for people who normally spout how amazing blue is to call something "Dark Naya" than to admit that a deck with almost every color has intentionally left their favorite out.
...Also, I have had approximately 2/3 a bottle of win right now, so I may be a bit more free with my opinions than normal. Happy Birthday to me.
Everyone need a bottle of win.
Aside from that, vexing devil is in a feature match in the SCG open. Let the trolling.......................COMMENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If that's your "casual," what on earth is required for "formal," a butler in livery shuffling the decks whilst a pianist plays Brahms in front of a tapestry?
Just tried out my first Legacy DE. Won the first round 2-0 against BUG Shardless before getting destroyed two straight rounds by Counterbalance (the second one having a 'cute' Rest in Peace/Energy Field combo). Now I see why Patrick Sullivan had Vexing Shusher in the side instead of Pyroblast.
I went ahead and grabbed two Silverhearts online for cheap. I've got everything I need for Grull except the gtc dual land.
Same here. I have the Skirsdag High Priest from when I put together your original Tragic Tokens. I was thinking eventually running BRG with them would be good. Just a matter of seeing what would work around it. Those demon tokens would be helpful.
In terms of some meta prophecy - Delver is back into the town.
Agreed, those charms are sick when they play ALL of them. So much versatility is hard to deal with.
Those Gruul decks look pretty strong, can't wait to give that a shot in testing tonight. And there are still 100 goodies to be spoiled!
I did some testing the other night, and just wanted to say that Ghost Council is an absolute bear to play against. Fortunately we have Brimstone Volley, one of the only cards that can interact with it.

Mhm. Yeah, I can see the issue here. Still - the rest of cards looks so damn strong. You might not share my Wolfbitten fetish (yet), but Strangleroot Geists and Wolfir Avengers are doing their job amazingly well.
In terms of some meta prophecy - Delver is back into the town. Just look at this: Dimir Charm, Azorius Charm, Orzhov Charm. SO much tempo, versatility and total ownage. Dimir Charm can smooth out draws/fill GY (or screw with opponent's draws), counter Terminus/Bonfire or kill early aggro drop (Ash Zealot maybe?). Azorius Charm puts creatures on topdeck, draws a card and in desperate situation grants your army lifelink. Orzhov Charm saves Geist of Saint Traft/re-uses Snapcaster Mage, EOT returns Delver of Secrets from GY or just kills a creature (life doesn't matter to this deck that much).
Pyroclasm/Volcanic Fallout - where are thou?
For people interested, that's my decklist of Esper Delver atm:
LP, I'm checking your article out as well. Behind all of your swag is the brain of one of the most intelligent Magic players I've ever known. I guess that's one more thing for you to add to the wall of ego that is your Sally sig.
I can go with that. LK, you are the Mace Windu of red mages...cool, tempered logic in deliberation, but capable of just flat kicking tail when the situation warrants it.
I'd like to do the same. But we ordered two boxes and will split the cards between us. So I guess that whatever combination I'll take, I'll have to do some tradings.
I had wanted to grab a box, but I'm not sure I feel it's worth it anymore. Could I guarantee 4-5 duals, I'd be sold but with a lot of the other rares being not interesting to me/probably gonna fall in price, I can't justify it.
Went a very disappointing 4-4 at the SCG classic in Virginia Beach this weekend.
My losses were: Esper Control, Bant hexproof, UW Flash, G/W Midrange/Aggro stuff.
the UW Flash and G/W midrange aggro matches were 100% winnable. G/W won because he had the faith's shield twice... and UW Flash I drew well below average after mulling to 5 in ALL 3 games in the match. -_-
I'm going to post a fuller tournament report up today in the tourny report thread. But I will say, I'm fully planning on removing the hounds and going to a lower curve aggro list. I felt like every game my turn to kill was the turn it was slipping away for good. (And i feel the need to be faster to race the hexproof deck game 1 if you win the die roll). Anyways, keep an eye out if you care!
If that's your situation, you're choise is fine. My situation is a little different: we are a group of 6 friends. We play very different decks, so apart from some cards (duals) that we'll have to split, the rest of the cards will be useful to everyone of us and we're gonna divide the total cost of the 2 boxes. And the cards that won't be used will be traded to complete our set of duals/whatever else we'll need.
Oh well that's a good set up, if I could do something like that I could see it being worth it for sure.
Decided to take the plunge and play in the Premier Event Standard tourney. Streaming now. Round 1: 2-1 against GB aggro, WIN. Someone said this deck had no bad matchups... won G3 on the draw post sideboard, won Game 2 without ever seeing an Aristocrat or Hellrider.
Streaming now
Edit: Got rolled by my own deck, mull to 6 game 1 netted me 3 lands, Mortars, 2 Aristos. Never draw 4th land. Game 2 Mull to 6 and proceed to draw 4 Aristos. Well, that was fun. Good job Mono R for beating me
Looking at the new cards I think Bant Midrange (GW Midrange + blue) will be mean. Master Biomancer + Thragtusk is rough. All of those 4 toughness bodies.
+ Thragtusk and token producing is nuts. If you don't run wraths and the game gets long, you will likely see a 5/9 Elusive Krasis that is unblockable and swinging every turn while the large body token army sits there blocking.
Cackling Counterpart gives some nice shenanigans at instant speed that allows some really silly tricks. I think the card draw in this deck should be Big Garruk (primal hunter).
Either way if it is working well it is a beast to face as an aggro deck. A turn 2 possible 4 toughness blocker who gets bigger as the later fatties are dropped. Flickering with the angel for huge value. Leaving open anything from 2-4 mana poses difficult to handle threats because of the three charms available andcackling counterpart. It looks nuts

I hate the reserved list.
Mythic rares are fine.

I actually really like this list. This looks like a super fun deck to play.
1 land 4 Stromkirk hand? Sure, don't mind if I win with that.

I did get 4 packs, but only Mizzium Mortars and Slaughter Games were the notable cards.

I think I'm fully prepared for GTC no matter what route I go ~ Mono Red, Boros, Gruul, multi color WTF route....
Kessig Wolf Runs, Flinthoofs, Rancors, Silverhearts, Rootbound Crags? Check.
Strongholds, Thalia, Clifftop Retreats, Silverblades, Restos, Champs? Check.
Just gotta get mah duals.
