Not much new here; sold-off a good bit of my collection to ABU, they've been easy, fast & fair. I have kept some things; 6-7 Decks & some non-decked singles I think may contunie to grow in $, like 8x Snapcaster MageFoil & 4x ThoughtseizeFoil, an Alpha Berserk and a Beta Fork. I sold 4x of my 8x MutavaultFoil because I don't see them growing in $ much more than they have.

Netdecking is piloting Magic.
Homebrew is creating Magic.
Are you a pilot or a creator??
I'll take the liberty to say that if you're here to be helpful (either to us, MTGS, MTGSWiki or any realted thing), you're welcome
I made those edits. I was scaveging the info on Project Mayhem (my previous clan) on the Wiki, then I found it linked to me but didn't say I was Called, so I added that. Since I did, I decided to check the Called page and noticed it was out of date.
I presume that the Portuguese editor was you but it could've been someone else, eh.
Although I was on the Wiki's initial team, I know very little of wiki (I was mostly the staff's rep on the team back then), so if you can explain what that user page is, I might give you a hand
I know that you were. To speak earnestly and I mean no offence by it, I'm rather surprised.
What do you mean by "Clear cruft?" are you deleting dead clans or something?
Cruft isn't a word that is clear to me; apparently it's a tamer version of cuss words.
Most articles on MTGS clans are not only crap but they fall under the purview of the MTGS Wiki. Something like that. I'm mildly inebriated (er, not with love), so excuse me if things aren't explicit or coming out right.
I also do not know what this user page is of which you speak.
The Gutter has some history on Sakura. That was interesting/pleasant/unpleasant.
Although a quorum is impossible to meet with most administrators being gone or not ever really being administrators, the administrators of MTGS Wiki have come to the decision to delete these pages too. Understandable, for legal reasons is set of reasons.
Ria hasn't posted since before his meet w/ the NYC Clan, he just might be "sleeping with the fishes". As they say..
Haven't I? Fell off the end of the world. Back home now, it is raining.
Hanging out with NYCDK crew was a blast, they have a pretty laid back FNM scene & the T4 games afterward make me want to build a stack. 1-spell-a-turn kept the game moving so even with six of us, there wasn't a lot of sitting around, & because of the nature of the format it was just constant hijinks
It's so quiet around here! I don't miss the 1/2/3am car alarm/stereo booming. . . Definitely missing the neighborhood though. Leaving Brooklyn? Fuhgeddaboutit
I went to a cool convention these past two days in Toronto. It's called Fan Expo (basically the Canadian version of Comic-Con)
Bought some useless but awesome **** that I really don't need, but I met a ton of cool people including the guys that do the Cyanide and Happiness web comic series, and Stan Lee. I got a picture with him and I got my Amazing Spider-Man 36 signed by him too. During the Q&A, I got the final question in as well. It was unreal.
Ria: Are you still in New York? My understanding was that it was a vacation, maybe a long one at that?
9909....you are welcome to say hi when you have something relevant to say, but please don't post like you just did. Making a series of Quotes of a sentence or two then inserting an "er." then repeating. It's needlessly cumbersome and distracting and I'd rather not see it.
Votan, if I remember right, has a long standing reputation in outside magic as a person who is overly aggressive, intentionally misrepresents others, and trolls. I don't know how true that is, but I have encountered her on one occasion and in that one instance those allegations seemed accurate. I had no idea she was a mod and I have no idea how well she is performing. Might be great for all I know.
Luck, awesome that you met stan lee. We need to see that picture. I'm also a fan of cyanide and happiness. There are some gems in that comic.
Congrats on your job Charlie. Glad things are going well for you.
Good to see you back Dux! Thought maybe you got lost somewhere under your cats.
I'll make sure to get a picture of that next time. I'll even wear my black field shirt.
My horse riding lesson was...well a very informative lesson. First I had to learn about this particular horse, her quirks, and her behavior. I was told that horses have very few neurons connecting between the left side and right side of the brain, so if they have a behavioral quirk on the left side of the body, often times that could be compensated by going to the right side of the body. I then learned a little about asserting my dominance whenever the horse tried to encroach upon my space. After that it was learning the parts of the saddle, what goes where and how to put it on. Finally, after all that I was able to get on the horse, and with some prodding get her to go in a somewhat forward direction.
....that was a two hour lesson. Never leaving a small pen and me being on the horse for maybe 10 minutes. ...I asked if I needed more lessons or if I could now go all man from snowy river... ....my instructor has me at another lesson next Tuesday. Then I'll be an expert.
Cheers,

I had something that I inevitably saw coming happen to me today. I got hit on by a dude. Why: because I wear a thumbring on my right-thumb. Do you know about this CharD? Apparently some "brilliant" person decided, in the last year or so, that gay men would wear a thumbring on their left-thumb if they are in a committed relationship or one the right-thumb if they are not. Kinda/Sorta like the earing thing in the late 80’s. I have no problem with gay people. But I do have a problem with being hit on by a dude just b/c I wear a thumbring my mom gave me on my right-thumb. I mean, WTF is that?!!
It really made me uncomfortable and ticked me off.
I’m not gonna stop wearing it, I have been for about 3 years now. I decided that whenI heard about this new trend. But if this happens again I am gonna school some ignorant ****er and will likely be called a homophobe for it. [/Vent]

I'm sorry.
I suppose it is not only that, I'm skirting posts (and, I suppose, potential problems); how lily-livered too.
To properly address the quoted content and rectify my wrongs, here:
Its been on the back of my mind now and then to edit the wiki. We have a very long history,
True that; but, a history, however long, is not necessarily grounds to retention. MTGS Wiki truly tries to be inclusive; but, if you have the standard too low, everything is let in.
The idiom isn't "when the levee breaks", but it's to do with some structure and I'm not an engineer, haha.
and over that history we have had a lot of members come and go.
This merely makes it difficult for the Called clan to document. If I may make a suggestion, dates and durations would make the information more detailed and worthwhile; whereas, a list is too plain and meaningless.
Would be good to remember some of them.
Yes; it would. Similarly, it would be good if they remembered you, collectively speaking, and the clan.
Alex/Teia (for it avoids the matter of he or she, though I'd be more inclined to use she) seems interesting enough, and her gender identity (let's not pussyfoot, shall we) is of very little consequence to her role as a representative of those that Hannes has trusted to oversee the site in his stead.

As for the Wiki post, I didn't understand half of it either.
Please explain, votan. I don't understand what you understood or what you didn't; I'll end up having to explain all of it and I fear I'll simply restate what I've said in but a different way.
Just that the pages were edited (because I did it).
I re-read this, just to be sure, and I completely get you.
Quote from sXe »
I know I'm a bit late to the party, but Teia as a mod? Wouldn't that be that the equivalent of making shindash a mod while he was still around?
I don't know; but, this site has more than its fair share of contentious matters such as gender issues, culture matters, gun regulation issues, and so on, and this wisdom would suggest one eschew if possible.
No, this isn't at all tantamount to making Sakura a moderator when he or she was about. Although Teia might be in some way, shape, or form, to use the cliché, disagreeable (not that I find Teia so), Sakura, a cause célèbre, was by and large so and there wasn't much to Sakura's posts or activity... if I may speak frankly, that is.
Should I stick around with the site and not be an absentee user, what would it take to fit in with this crowd, eh?

As for the wiki-content discussion, kind of glad to have it here (my response seemed to be taken out of context in the other thread). My only real question is, why the need for such stringent content guidelines? I get why wikipedia does it, but with so little interest in our wiki anyway? Seems weird to me – the people who are interested in using the thing are the people who are putting the thing in there, after all
Hi, Brian.
I don't know, to be honest. I think the most important thing apropos content is to have some sort of set of guidelines at the moment. The elegant solution to killing content is to merge it into one page; (article namespace) "Clans". Currently, the 4.x k number of articles is inflated, eh.
User-related articles, be they staff/former staff or regs (for regulars, though I've yet to coin something elegant), should probably be hidden/deleted. Truly too many problems with that, even if they do it themselves.
I remember users requesting that their pages be deleted or redacted due to real matters and/or potential ones. I think I complied with some or all of them.
Should I stick around with the site and not be an absentee user, what would it take to fit in with this crowd, eh?
More of the same, I reckon

Oh come now Ria, are you not going to tell us how things went? Did you beat God of Cyanide?
Heh. True story, we have a joke in the group I take to FNM that often one of us manages to get unlucky and has to "play the car," and Ria ran into that in rounds 2 (vs. mikey k) and 3 (vs. me). He lost to the car, including some incredible games against me, but beat the rest of his opponents.

Hanging with you was a blast as well, brother. It was great times.
Definitely, build a stack! Though I wouldn't blame you if you left out the Mind Cage...
More true story: When I was writing the Chinese order in your notebook, I saw you wrote down that sign. That sign is part of a series that Brooklyn's borough president (a rather useless job otherwise) set up. The "Entering" signs all have different phrases on them, but ALL the "Leaving Brooklyn" signs say the same thing.
Edit: On a total side note, I agree with Ria's question regarding getting nuts about the content of a largely-unknown wiki.

Sword of Feast and Famine would have served me well, 3 of my 4 opponents running or . . . I didn't mind losing to the guys who provided my deck, though I think I made up for that during the stack games
I watched Glengarry Glen Ross last night, it ended too soon! I was ready for another hour of ranting If you have any more films you'd recommend, please do
Edit: On a total side note, I agree with Ria's question regarding getting nuts about the content of a largely-unknown wiki.
Second Edit: Don't delete my wiki page
The wiki is literally occult unless MaRo starts to reference it in his articles or on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and whatever else he may use.
For those that explicitly state that they'd rather their user pages kept, I'll comply with those requests. A former moderator requested that I delete details or his or her page due to considerations such as, or similar to, safety; comfort; and potential effect on employment.
I can’t tell if this 9’er person is trying to talk to us or troll us or ..why this person cares about our wiki page?
I sure as hell don't..
There's a list of things that I'd rather do than troll ladies and gentlemen on Web fora, thanks. To be honest with you, I only give a damn about your article (by no overestimation, the wiki doesn't have an Alexa rank of anything) because users gave a damn and users give a damn about it.
I also don't have a you-and/v.-me mentality; but, this feels a bit like broadcasting, so I'll stuff off and shut up for some time.
Edit: If it's not clear yet, I'm formerly known as Magic Mage and an absentee sysop of MTGS Wiki. I had a signature detailing these trivial facts as well as links that one could click to add users to one's ignore list and to add me to your ignore list.
Alex/Teia (for it avoids the matter of he or she, though I'd be more inclined to use she) seems interesting enough, and her gender identity (let's not pussyfoot, shall we) is of very little consequence to her role as a representative of those that Hannes has trusted to oversee the site in his stead.
Wait...Teia is actually a guy? Huh, this whole time I thought she was a girl. Though from your posts it seems I probably auta keep calling her a she. Gender identity is of little consequence on the web.

@Dux. Never heard of the thumb ring thing. I think instead of getting rialed up you just tell the guy "no". I had a guy ask me to dance once, no harm in him asking and no harm in me turning him down. Though it was at a range meeting....dangerous for him going there in a range meeting.
@Cyanide, what is this car thing that ria lost to? Sounds like some real funky games went on. Really makes me want to dig up my EDH deck and have some fun with it. Haven't touched magic since last January.
Little frustrated with work right now. I mentioned that I had only 80 hours to work with at the university. Well thats down to 38 hours and I'm realizing that I'm starting a lot of little balls rolling and wont be there to catch them. So I need to try to wrap things up, but thats not really going to happen cause I still need to finish continent specific maps. Not to mention I just started emailing a few dozen professors across the planet for collaboration...once they start responding I'll be gone.
Tsk, ah well. Best to do what I can. I have a cousin heading to vegas from holland on September 12th. I better hitch up the tucker bag and get ready to hit that road.

Well, I guess I've just kinda seen this coming.. Can't remember when, where or how I learned about the thumb ring thing. And he didn't ask me out. It was just obvious that he was hitting on me and when he gave me my change back from my purchase, he said, "I love your ring!" It really wasn't until then & as I was walking out (with him still trying to strike up a conversation from across the counter) that I realized what had happened. I'm over it now. Hey, Dux.... when that happens, have a bit of humility, I mean, getting angry about it is going to make people think you are homophobic. If you tell the guy you're not interested and leave it at that, you'll be fine - if you make a big deal he is gonna be just as embarrassed. Imagine how awkward it is for us when girls hit on us. Just be flattered Also I dont think thumb rings are a gay thing.

Yeah, a lot of people went to mono-black recently too. The stack games were awesome, and you certainly acquitted yourself well.

MM, aka ye-of-9909-names... Thanks for the heads up on all things wiki.
Daggertooth, I often take multiple people with me in my car to FNM. As case in point, last week I had Ria and mikey k159 in my car. So, when Ria had to face both of us during FNM, he "played the car." This happened more frequently when I drove a minivan and often had 4-5 other people with me, but it still happens; it's generally not a good thing to have happen, as we're all good players, and it's possible that we wind up screwing our chances of having at least one of us prize.

@Cyanide. Ah, that makes sense. Especially if you guys are the most powerful players around. Rough beats. I've been to FNM and been paired up with friends. Always hate eliminating them...or being eliminated by them...unless its the finals.
I just think stereotyping legitimate attire is stupid.
What you wear can really influence how people view you. One of the most damning thing I wear are chacos. Pure hippie wear, but I wear them everywhere and even in the snow because I'm too lazy to put on my socks and boots.
Bought a new hat over the summer because I knew I was going to do a lot more interacting with people. Range folks for the most part. If a land owner approaches you they are most likely going to view you differently if you have a baseball cap with a bandana tucked behind to keep off the sun (making you look all arabish) vs if you are wearing a solid cowboy hat. One of our guys was even harassed a little and called a china man because he was wearing a pointy straw hat. He was bout as white as could be too...and I wasn't around. I got a lot of compliments for my hat.
Clothing instantly stereotypes a person just as much as symbols and jewelry. I don't know nuthin bout thumb rings...but I guess thats just something you'll have to deal with. Like folks thinking I'm a hippie with my chacos. We'll both have to resist violence.

But after he buys you a drink or two. That's still okay right?
You know...now that I think of it...I don't remember thumb rings really being a "thing." I'm vaguely recalling something about old men from some old movie. Don't think I've ever seen one in real life.
I emailed New Zealand. I think the emeritus professor was either bored or feeling super helpful. Emailed me back 5 times, each with a different article and such. Great guy, really. His name started with a "Sir" they knight people over there or is it customary to call them that instead of Dr.? Ozian folks know that?
Also, is there a feud between Oz and New Zealand? My Ozian contact crossed out New Zealand from the map when I asked for vegetation information.
China emailed back pretty fast too. I wrote back but just used his last name instead of the whole Dr so and so...because that's how he signed his response. My initial letter, of course, starts with the whole Dr. so and so. Hope I haven't been insulting anyone.

You best ask Teia herself. It's complicated and I don't want to be (caught) saying things behind their backs. I don't know how you read "Teia is a guy" or a he.
Magic Mage eh...that sound familiar. Should I know you more than in passing?
Nah. I was a stupid spammer then and I am a stupid spammer now; but, I suppose that could be said of many a user.
take a Dux... Like Charlie said, you shouldn't make the person feel embarrased. Just smile and nicely say you're flattered, but you're not gay. I promise the guy won't hump your leg unless you let him
I am sorry. I am not interested; or, I am interested in someone else. I'm frigid. votan's approach on rejecting advances can be tactful. The flattered thing may be mixed signals. It can be so for ladies, at least.
I've been talking to Teia (talked to her on Friday). Teia is a She that was unfortunate enough to be born on a male body. Fortunatelly, she's fixing the mistake (isn't it just sad when God messes up the paperwork?)
I'd appreciate if no one calls her a he. She finds it offensive, and I think it's logical. I wouldn't like if people started addressing me as She.....would you? We are Called Respectfull :).
Come on. It's can't be that bad being born whichever sex you were born; of course, you could have a preference for the other... I should know better (and more tactful towards psychological issues), but I'd like to think things through and still be happeh?
First of all, 9909, don't delete my wiki page. That's what makes me famous Well, not really, but still, I like it there.
You can always restore it; or, I'll take this as the first request. Not all that many members enjoy having things about them on the Web as I've mentioned. Add something to spruik yourself.
Okay. I'm off to cook dinner. It's been pleasant talking to you all.
I don't know how you read "Teia is a guy" or a he.
You called her Alex and mentioned Gender Identity. You kind of spelled it out quite clearly. votan clarified it later. I have no idea why you chose to bring up gender identity since that wasn't even the topic. The topic was her past behavior possibly being somewhat volatile. I've no idea how true any of that was though....or how it may compare with other folks such as Manders and her well known...passion...for certain topics.

And, I'm sad again. It's not fair that Daggs keeps living his dream and I'm stuck here... I'm happy for you Daggs, but why can't I have some fun?
You misunderstand me. I'm not traveling to those areas, just making contacts from around the world and trying to get them to help me with a map I've been making. So far the best contact was from New Zealand. We bounced back about 5 emails between us and really hammered out the vegetation of New Zealand. If I can get my Tasmania contact to reply I'll have the entire Australia area completely vetted.
Africa is going slower than I want, South America might have too many people as I feel a bit overwhelmed there, and I need more middle eastern contacts. I think I have one in Pakistan, maybe I should check Tehran.
Votan, do you know of any ecology professors in Portugal? My Portugal contact, who was on my masters committee, hasn't responded.
Cheers,
Daggertooth
Edit: Oh cool. The University of Tehran has a department of Range and Watershed Management with at least two professors who are focused on Range. Emailed them. Fingers Crossed that I can perfect the vegetation in Iran and the surrounding areas.

User pages are more or less vanity pages and I don't think at any stage the administrators of the wiki will have anything, much less rules, about such pages.
Er.
Uhm.
I guess so.
Maybe.
In one of those Batman films, one learns that you fall so that you may learn to pick yourself up.
Well...
Oh.
I think I have.
Errr...
Shindash, Shin, Shin', etc. was ...
Ah, screw it.

Not much to report on my end. I finally got a job!
Cheers,
Daggertooth

[/Vent]

I suppose it is not only that, I'm skirting posts (and, I suppose, potential problems); how lily-livered too.
To properly address the quoted content and rectify my wrongs, here:
True that; but, a history, however long, is not necessarily grounds to retention. MTGS Wiki truly tries to be inclusive; but, if you have the standard too low, everything is let in.
The idiom isn't "when the levee breaks", but it's to do with some structure and I'm not an engineer, haha.
This merely makes it difficult for the Called clan to document. If I may make a suggestion, dates and durations would make the information more detailed and worthwhile; whereas, a list is too plain and meaningless.
Yes; it would. Similarly, it would be good if they remembered you, collectively speaking, and the clan.
Alex/Teia (for it avoids the matter of he or she, though I'd be more inclined to use she) seems interesting enough, and her gender identity (let's not pussyfoot, shall we) is of very little consequence to her role as a representative of those that Hannes has trusted to oversee the site in his stead.
Please explain, votan. I don't understand what you understood or what you didn't; I'll end up having to explain all of it and I fear I'll simply restate what I've said in but a different way.
I re-read this, just to be sure, and I completely get you.
ETA: Hi, Brian.
More of the same, I reckon
As for the wiki-content discussion, kind of glad to have it here (my response seemed to be taken out of context in the other thread). My only real question is, why the need for such stringent content guidelines? I get why wikipedia does it, but with so little interest in our wiki anyway? Seems weird to me – the people who are interested in using the thing are the people who are putting the thing in there, after all
DUX, homo sex rules. Just sayin'.
Second Edit: Don't delete my wiki page

I can’t tell if this 9’er person is trying to talk to us or troll us or ..why this person cares about our wiki page?
I sure as hell don't..

Sword of Feast and Famine would have served me well, 3 of my 4 opponents running or . . . I didn't mind losing to the guys who provided my deck, though I think I made up for that during the stack games
I watched Glengarry Glen Ross last night, it ended too soon! I was ready for another hour of ranting If you have any more films you'd recommend, please do
For those that explicitly state that they'd rather their user pages kept, I'll comply with those requests. A former moderator requested that I delete details or his or her page due to considerations such as, or similar to, safety; comfort; and potential effect on employment.

Wait...Teia is actually a guy? Huh, this whole time I thought she was a girl. Though from your posts it seems I probably auta keep calling her a she. Gender identity is of little consequence on the web.
Magic Mage eh...that sound familiar. Should I know you more than in passing?
Cheers,
Daggertooth

Dang Dagg, I may be the only clanmate who can honestly say I don't envy your way of life. I don't mean that in a demeaning or offensive way at all. I just mean with my OCD, being a creature of habit/routine & an indoors man; your life would drive me nuts. Whereas, I bet you get antsy staying in one place too long.
Different strokes.

I am going to an artist talk by Richard Billingham tonight, so exciting @_______@
I need to edit my wiki page. it comes up no. 10 when you google my name, and it's full of ridiculous teenage egotism.
If I think of any more, I will. It's late, though. I'm glad you enjoyed GGR; as I told you, it's one of my favorite movies, and it's just... intense.

And if I've offended you, I'm sorry, but maybe you need to be offended. But here's my apology and one more thing...
Is that why you didn't want to go to the Smokey Mountains or Mammoth cave while I was around? Mammoth cave was awesome too. And the diner I visited on the way over there. Royal Crown Cola paraphernalia everywhere, and I ate hominy for the first time.
Cheers,
Daggertooth

You best ask Teia herself. It's complicated and I don't want to be (caught) saying things behind their backs. I don't know how you read "Teia is a guy" or a he.
Nah. I was a stupid spammer then and I am a stupid spammer now; but, I suppose that could be said of many a user.
Hi. Likewise. How's the Brisvegas? For your benefit, I can hide awkward things by purging historical edits from view.
I am sorry. I am not interested; or, I am interested in someone else. I'm frigid. votan's approach on rejecting advances can be tactful. The flattered thing may be mixed signals. It can be so for ladies, at least.
Come on. It's can't be that bad being born whichever sex you were born; of course, you could have a preference for the other... I should know better (and more tactful towards psychological issues), but I'd like to think things through and still be happeh?
You can always restore it; or, I'll take this as the first request. Not all that many members enjoy having things about them on the Web as I've mentioned. Add something to spruik yourself.
Okay. I'm off to cook dinner. It's been pleasant talking to you all.

I don't like Queensland as it's home to scary folk with strange opinions. I'm New South Welsh/Victorian, so maybe a scary person with strange opinions to those people, eh.
