MIIIB was much better than the first two, IMO. (The second one was so unspectacular, I even forgot what it was about.) But at the end, right before the last jump, it gets you right in the feels, even if you predict what's coming. I certainly recommend it!

The plan was to go for Automaton, but as I mentioned, someone's got that name registered here for only 6 months with only one post under his/her belt. I'm not really inclined to battle for it, and I'm pretty sure the site staff don't want to alienate a user who only posted once and, well, could be back in the future to discuss things like M2013 and RTR. Since, you know, those things're gonna be popular pretty soon.
I used to have that name for the North American Square Enix Members, but with the launch of the new version of the site this week (now including forums!) I was inclined to change it to something I felt more appropriately thematic.

I did look, and I sadly don't know enough to keep up. This is where I show my age. Anime was fringe when I was growning up. Now it is pretty mainstream, but I'm soooooo far behind on the culture. Hell, playing in NGE Mafia was the first I had heard of the anime.
Keep it up, though. I envy you not only your talent in creating such a thing, but also your ambition in maintaining it. And you might just teach an old dog a few things.
First off thanks for the compliments. But second off this is actually really good feedback. If you wouldn't mind telling me (the answers don't have to be long):
1. Did you feel it was written not for you (i.e. a person with limited anime experience)? And if so why?
2. What parts could you follow and understand?
3. Which parts did you feel alienated you?
4. Which parts did you like and which did you not?
5. Did you feel the review was well written and organized?
6. Did the review make you feel something. Either this is something I might be interested in watching or this series doesn't sound interesting to me, etc.?
This would really help me out a lot, especially since I feel people without a lot of anime experience would be a good demographic to try and grad due to the glut of anime blogs for people who watch anime.
Also anyone else feel free to answer as well, just give me you experience with anime and manga as well.
And two if something like anime does interest you, watch it. It doesn't matter if you don't know the culture as long as you enjoy it. Hell my mom recently feel in love with watching Superhero movies, but she has no idea about the Superhero culture and is older than you (though don't tell her I said that :sneaky:). Plus with the ease you can find anime nowadays it has never been easier to start watching.
That was MaRo's favorite draft strategy during the design process, which apparently resulted in the creation of Goldnight Commander. Nice deck.
I've only drafted the format once, and my table seemed to grossly undervalue blue. I had 2x Wingcrafter, 2x Tandem Lookout, 2x Mist Raven, Wolfir Silverheart, and a plethora of cheap tricks and cantrips to easily scoop up a 3-0 finish, dropping only one game due to being unable to cast the big bad Wolf (it turns out that Alchemist's Refuge isn't very good in Limited).
According to this, a ten-player game featuring Planechase can use a shared deck of 20 Plane cards and 20 Phenomena; This means that a 19-player game could use a deck of 2 Plane cards and 38 Phenomena. Sounds...like a good time?
Maybe after Planechase (2024 Edition), when we actually have 40 Phenomena.
Point being, is anyone interested in Planechase? I've only played one game ever, and it was decent fun. (I believe we used the decks that came with the product.) I like the idea of playing it with a Cube for the main reason that streamlined Constructed decks don't generally have tons of extra mana sitting around with which to roll the planar die.
I actually drafted WR on Tuesday before I went out. I 2-0'd the 2 matches of the six-man team draft very easily and then left since I beat my first opponent so badly he just left which made it an easy win for my team. I'll have to dig out my draft deck later and see what I had. What happened after that draft makes it difficult to recall a lot from Tuesday.
Planechase is pretty fun, as long as you don't mind how much more variance it adds. I've played several games where I've won and lost solely based on the die rolls. Two time walks in the first two turns of the game is pretty strong. And one time I lost due to walking to a power boosting plane giving my opponent exactly lethal.
I thought Origins was usually Late June, not late May. Oh well.
And my ex has my daughter during that time. Clem if you're in town you should maybe see about catching up with me...if you want to that is...
It usually is late June, but they bumped it up this year for some reason. A little disappointed we missed the crazy festival this year. And I totally woulda been up for that if I'd seen this post before getting back to Kentucky. I lost my phone and only had internet at the booth.

I've easily read over 200 different mangas in my life, and watched around 40 different animes(possibly more, possibly less, I don't really feel like making a list), so I don't really think my answering any of these would be too helpful. However, I would like to say that I found that your review of Captain Tylor was very interesting. I thought it was easy to understand and follow, and that you gave a perfect amount of information to make the reader want to watch it, without getting too much into the story as to potentially ruin anything. It seems like a very interesting story, and your entusiasm towards it definitely showed. I'm very certain that i'm going to be checking this series out, and i'm definitely going to be reading more of your reviews.
Speaking of more reviews, I saw you put up a new one for Gin no Saji, I haven't read it atm but i'll make sure to check it out later.

First off thanks for the compliments. But second off this is actually really good feedback. If you wouldn't mind telling me (the answers don't have to be long):
1. Did you feel it was written not for you (i.e. a person with limited anime experience)? And if so why?
I don't know that it felt as thought it was written for me, but it was very clear and readable. As someone who legitimately chalks up his lack of anime/manga enthusiasm to being a part his generation, I think this review is more aproachable by those that know more about the genre. The language of your Conclusions
"This is a great anime for those who want a deeper, more intriguing comedy rather than the thin and superficial gag comedies that seem to populate the anime universe right now." "Due to the subject matter and the fact that the problems faced are very much ground in real life this manga isn't for everybody, but for those that are either looking for a good coming of age manga to follow or are fans of Fullmetal Alchemist I strongly recommend reading Gin no Saji."
...probably has more punch for someone who understands the contrast. That being said, there's actually nothing wrong with this in my opinion. You aren't writing a persuasive piece for people that don't watch/read much eastern cultural content (for lack of a better name for the overarching genre); you're writing is effectively a guide to those with some experience in what you're talking about by being about what you are talking about (to say "about" a lot, which I will).
2. What parts could you follow and understand?
All of your introductions, descriptions, and reviews so far have been crystal clear. As stated above, the contrasts between things that I am unfamiliar with are partially lost on me.
3. Which parts did you feel alienated you?
Unintentionally, the conclusions. (Also, I like the F graded Star Wars Christmas Special, if you are refering to Nevermind. I Googled and (re?)learned something. I think I had heard of such a thing. I also thought you were refering to the charming tale set on Endor and featuring Wilford Brimley. Doh!).
4. Which parts did you like and which did you not?
I love the layout and the color scheme. I find very little to dislike. If I were to offer a suggestion, it might be to give an idea/guess to someone who is unfamiliar with the genre as to how tough of a plunge any particular piece would be for them to dive into. Is a piece more for insiders, or is it newb friendly?
5. Did you feel the review was well written and organized?
Yes, and yes.
6. Did the review make you feel something. Either this is something I might be interested in watching or this series doesn't sound interesting to me, etc.?
Actually, yes. The anime does pique my curiosity.
This would really help me out a lot, especially since I feel people without a lot of anime experience would be a good demographic to try and grad due to the glut of anime blogs for people who watch anime.
Also anyone else feel free to answer as well, just give me you experience with anime and manga as well.

"Older than me"
Bah!
Actually, I've watched a few things. I love the Vampire Hunter D movies. I was forcedcajoled to watch a series called Elfen Lied, which disturbed my dreams for a while. And I've become passingly familiar with NGE due to AsianI's Mafia game. I watched Akira when I was a kid, but it has faded from memory.
By no means am I "hip" to the genre, but I'm curious. My kids have tried to talk me into watching the mainstream made-for-kids films, and I've just never gotten around to it (e.g. Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, etc.). Funny, though, even as I name those off the top of my head, I don't know enough about them to judge their worth.

Watch him have the most broken life gaining ability in the game.
In other news after studying game design a bit and trying to make my own game I have to say I really admire MTG in this one respect: Gaining life has never been broken. Sure you an opponent can gain a million, billion life, but you can still win through other means. With designing a game life gain and healing are usually the most degenerate and problematic of any game, but in magic it isn't. Kudos Dr. Garfield, Kudos.

Damn Art, you really ARE old. ;p
But yeah, NGE is great, and I enjoyed Elfen Lied when I watched it when I was about 15, as well.
Speaking of NGE, here's a totally NSFW pick-up line I made up for it. ;D

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Git off muh lawn!
I watched The original G1 Transformers while eating my breakfast cereal in my PJ's, too. And begged my parents to let me sit through the original animated film in the theaters. I'd say that year defined a lot of my cultural references.
Johnny, born and raised. Always lookin' for the Next Level Combo. Thanks to Bornover of FHLS for the banner!
