Didn't do much today. Woke up after the PTQ on MTGO started, took a shower and walked to the closest Chinese restaurant for breakfast/lunch. Watching anime/reading a book for work now. I'm sure new years will be more fun.

Yes, I am. I was unfortunately unable to complete the other half of the age-old ritual and go the movies since the theater is on the other side of this "city".

Suck. Then again, I don't envy you when it comes to High Holy days. I'm not Jewish, but I've seen the parking lots at my local Temple during those two days. Just driving by on the main street is a rough and tumble affair with wrecking your car.
In other news, I wouldn't have celebrated the 25th, but I hadn't seen my father's side of the family in a while. It was the usual holiday full of yelling and arguing between my Reformed Jewish aunt, my Non-Religious other aunt, and my Pentecostal father, whilst my going-senile Pentecostal grandmother and my Agnostic self shot the breeze with talk and I cooked and hauled dinner up and down a flight of stairs about 20 times. On the upside, I got plenty of exercise carrying heavy dishes, five chairs, and a medium sized table from one floor of a duplex to another and back. I love Southern family holidays. Full of fun, yelling, and food. (the best part is the food)
In any case, see you all on the 26th or after, after working for 5 hours helps me cool my engines.

Fortunately, I never had to deal with that. I used to live across the street from our synagogue, since my father is the Rabbi there. Though that also meant I never had a viable excuse not to go whenever they wanted me to whether it was snowing or not (and it snows a lot where I'm from).
Gem trees are just little crafts: tiny chips of gemstones tied together with metal cording braided together ans then spread to look like a tree with "leaves", with a stone base.

Is anyone planning on doing anything awesome for New Years? I'm probably going to be hanging out with friends and playing poker for the first time in a long time.
Edit: Finally finished my rubric for the CC. It took me longer than I estimated since I didn't wake up from my nap last night until like, 5 am lol.
And as quick as that my plans for New Year's have changed. My roommate flaked and I can't pay January rent by myself, so I will be spending this weekend figuring that out.

Much thanks for your work on this BTW. Very helpful
We bought a bottle of mead, and may just sit around the house so as to avoid the drunken idiots. It may also snow in my area. News keeps hinting at it.
If not, I'll improvise something. Improvised New Years = no pressure.

Got anything to share on the QT before it gets sent?
Fairly low key new years by the looks of it, going anywhere is gonna involve taxis as buses end at 2000 hours, and they get expeeeensive. Might crash over a friend's though.
And as quick as that my plans for New Year's have changed. My roommate flaked and I can't pay January rent by myself, so I will be spending this weekend figuring that out.
I've had roommate issues this past month as well, it really sucks. Good luck resolving your situation!
I'll probably be pressured into having one drink to celebrate the occasion, but I don't plan on drinking more than that. Not after what happened last time lol.
FNM tonight! It'd be nice to end 2011 with a win, but I kind of doubt it since almost all the good players are back from their trips home for the holidays.
Got my first car for christmas, also getting my laptop fixed, finally. Not sure what's gonna happen for New Years, guess I'll spend it like I do any other sunday.
Sadly, I don't have anything M:tG related going on, just enjoying free M:tG simulators and another card game called Shadow Era. Want to play EDH with some friends, and to spice it up, I think I'll add cards like Eye of the Storm to my deck. It's an Izzet deck with a slight focus on Defenders. Are there any other cards like Eye of the Storm? or cards that compliment it?
(le' sigh) The local ginger around here shall not partake in much partying for New Year's for I have work the very next day at 10am. (facedeskdeskdeskdesk) Yeah. I'll even be at a party with friends, which leaves me vulnerable because I have to pass out early after only a little bit of socializing. May someone please vaporize my workplace for at least one day?

Went X-2 top four split. Kinda wanted to run it back and try to win the last FNM of the year 2 years in a row, but it was 1 am and I was/am way too hungry. Unfortunately Taco Bell stopped serving the only thing I could eat there, so I never got dinner.

Do you keep kosher? If so, isn't one of the rules that the food has to be made with utensils that have never made non-kosher stuff? If you don't keep kosher, why can't you eat at Taco Bell?
Sorry for all of the random questions, but I get interested in other people.

I do keep kosher, but its kind of not on purpose anymore. I'm a vegetarian. I'm not that strict about the utensil thing though since I live in the "city" that KFC was created in and no one actually caters to vegetarians here (not that they should, there aren't many of us). So if I did follow that rule, I'd probably starve to death lol.
That's one of the things I miss most about home too. There is such a huge selection of great vegetarian food in the city I'm from, and its all less than half an hour away from the house I grew up in. Though this place does have fried okra, which is like the only fried food I eat (I'm also kind of a health nut).
And its cool, I'm one of my favourite subjects to discuess, so it works out well.

My dad, while technically Jewish, has never been much for practicing the religion. He takes off work for the holidays but doesn't actually celebrate them lol. And he never kept kosher.
I grew up in a neighborhood that was primarily Asian and Indian, so I've been exposed to a lot of vegetarian cuisine through that. I like meat too much to ever do it full-time, but there's a lot of really cool food out there. And fried okra is amazing

Sounds like my dad, except he's a true Reformed Jew as he will work on the Sabbath without any problem.
Hope everyone had a good holiday season. I sure did as all my folks came down and survived through all the craziness. New Year's is going to be a lot quieter for me which is nice, and once we get into the new year we'll be doing promotions that I know you guys have been waiting for!
