I've heard weirder things. Some Vocaloid stuff is just... out there.
I'm on a big Kingdom Hearts trip now: started Birth by Sleep to prep for 3D. I'm playing Proud Mode, not ready for Critical. But... halfway-ish through Terra's story I'm at level 31.

CommanderUR Melek, Izzet Paragon
When asked how much power is required, Izzet mages always answer "more".
I should probably look at the spoilers to see what this new minotaur is....Also we need to play magic again sometime, since I finally have a cockatrice enabled computer again.
Haven't played Magic in months, and I think I uninstalled Cockatrice. But it should be easy enough to reinstall and shake off the rust.
Been watching any good anime as of late? Lately
I've falling in love with Fairytail...it's just amazing and
Air gear.
Read them both, haven't watched either though. I still keep up to date on Fairy Tail weekly, but i've stopped reading Air Gear a while ago. I just didn't really like the direction the series was going, after a while, I forgot completely what the manga was about(other than the awesome rollerblade thingies).
I've been watching Naoki Urasawa's Monster, it was my favorite manga, and the anime follows the manga exactly. The art style and setting are a little odd, but the story is very interesting and addictive. I also just recently finished Eden of the East, which was a very interesting anime. It was kinda odd at times, but it was altogether very light-hearted and enjoyable.
I'd also recommend Darker Than Black, and i'll second Guardbro on Durarara and Baccano, as they were definitely some of my favorites. My avatar is actually a character from Durarara.
Dai-Guard - Dilbert meets Gundam
Wild Arms TV - Spaghetti Sci-Fi Western with a boy looking for his stolen body
The Irresponsible Captain Tylor - Probably my favorite Anime Ever
Book of Bantorra - Alright. Sort of morbid and disjointed plot.
Soul Eater - Because I love anime about Psychopomps in training
Baccano - Depression Era goodness. Probably the best English Voice Acting you'll find
Durarara - Good anime, has a slight Cyberpunk feel
Hellsing - Because I love a good vampire anime
Eyeshield 21 - Because it's anime about football, no not soccer, but football... like you see in the Super Bowl
Baccano and Durarara are great, and Soul Eater was interesting, but never really hooked me. I've heard of the others, but never really looked into them.
I've seen the first few episodes of Hellsing, but I couldn't get into it, and I think i've tried watching Book of Bantorra, though for the life of me I can't remember anything about it other than the name is familiar.
Also, I finally sat down and read One Piece, I enjoyed it thoroughly and keep up with it weekly. I don't think i'll ever watch the anime, as it would probably take me years to get caught up.
I'm on a big Kingdom Hearts trip now: started Birth by Sleep to prep for 3D. I'm playing Proud Mode, not ready for Critical. But... halfway-ish through Terra's story I'm at level 31.
Funny, I have Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, though I don't think i've played either.
Also, speaking of odd music, lately i've been listening to a lot of nightcore remixes of songs. Which is odd for me, since i'm a metalhead.
I've been the same really...Working, and if not working I'm fishing. Got rid of my internet at home for the time being since I rarely ever use it, but now that I have internet on my phone I can be on a lot more.
'tis ok, you nath'ed me in the Dimir thread a little while ago(sorta, I clicked preview post before posting and saw you said something, but it still counts to me.)
Also, speaking of kicks that AI went on, i've recently picked Heroes back up again. I'm just starting the last season right now, definitely glad I picked it back up.

I saw the first few episodes of the former and all of the latter (including the films) and enjoyed them, though I would go beyond your statements and assert that Monster may be more disturbing than Neon Genesis Evangelion. Maybe.

I would certainly say it was more disturbing than NGE, especially if you knew the whole story and ending. Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys was also the same way, in that the story was very intricate and kept you on your toes(Also more disturbing than NGE, though less so than Monster).

Sylar is easily the most interesting character in the show, and, in my opinion, the most likable as well.

I'm currently waiting for my laptop to come back from repair, at which point I will finally be able to play Diablo III. Can you say...SUPEREXCITED!?!?!?
Holy crap I missed the reunion party. AI or Arty you two gotta nudge me on facebook! Geeze!
In other news, my house is going through a total reformation of cleanliness...Screw spring cleaning this is more summer cleaning. I need to purge some of my daughter's toys. How many of you remember when I was pregnant?

I think 20th Century Boys had the best plot i've ever read in a manga. ever.
Looking back on, I can see several similarities from the 2 stories. Several similar characters, exact same art style, and similar plots. At least it's not Adachi Mitsuru bad, everything he writes is essentially the same characters(different names), and the same plot(with some twists). I honestly don't really know why I kept reading them, they were pretty good though. A very dry/sarcastic sense of humor, likable characters and the story never failed to draw you in. I read H2, Touch, and Cross Game, and I recommend them to anyone who likes a lighthearted yet very emotional story. About baseball. All of them. No it's not as boring as it sounds.
I also like Hiro, his incredibly innocent sense of justice is like a breath of fresh air to a story so filled with lies and deceit. I think Peter was meant to fill a similar role, but things got way more personal with him. What I like most about Hiro was that(As far as I can see) he's really the only character who hasn't changed who he is throughout the series.

I think she was born a few months after I had joined the Izzet, jeez how time flies.
Also, I haven't played any of the Diablo series, but my friend has been playing it religiously since it came out. The game certainly looks interesting, it really makes me want to pick up the first few and try them out. From what i've heard, the story is insanely good.

Hiro has had his moments of weakness (re: Charlie), but you're right in that he's been one of the most righteous and selfless characters in the whole series, providing a compelling narrative foil to Season One's Sylar and to villains in general in later seasons. The way I see it, Peter was supposed to be the "Chosen One" or "Red Ranger," but his role morphed as his relationship with his family was fleshed out. When the writers realized that his powers were getting a little out of hand, they used the less than subtle magic eraser known as Arthur to wipe the slate clean. After all, the show is called "Heroes," not "Peter Petrelli: Over 9000."

The story certainly adds a lot to the gameplay experience, but calling it "insanely good" may be overselling it a bit. (This is coming from someone who actually cared about the lore way back in Diablo I.) A few people have told me that DII is superior to DIII, but I want to get into DIII as much for the social aspects as for the gameplay. Additionally, my copy of DII has...issues...As a result, I can't use it to access B.net.

Ugh, Red Ranger. Peter's too self-sacrificing to be the Red Ranger imo, hell, his source of power comes from him always feeling overshadowed by others. Not very Red material. Though I see what you mean about the whole "chosen one" thing, but I don't really like to view the story in such a clear-cut fashion. I like to overcomplicate things. The way I see it, every characters powers have to do with their personalities and the way they lived their lives.
Nathan, the self-important successful older brother, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, naturally feels like the sky is a limit he can conquer.
Hiro lived his life as a disappointment to his father, he felt awkward and weak, and was always making mistakes, but he had large dreams. Power over time and space gave him the means to right the wrongs he has done, gave him the chance to redeem himself in his father's eyes and it gave him courage and self-confidence.
Peter was an empath, constantly overshadowed by his brother, and always the second best in the eyes of his parents. He was always there to feel the pain of others, but never had anyone to feel his own pain. Later in the series, when he can only take on one power at a time, at the same time, his character changed so that his personality isolated himself from his family and friends. Which I think is interconnected with his power retuning in this form, at the time he injected himself with the syringe to give himself power, he was a torn version of himself. I don't think he was necessarily "chosen" but he always felt the need to help people so long as it was in his power to do so. I guess from a base perspective he is the main character, and stupidly overpowered, combine that with his heroic "save the world" view on everything, his actions make him seem like "the chosen one".
What I like about Heroes the most is the in-depth character development that goes on constantly throughout the story.
I could go on, but I feel like i've rambled enough for today.

Yeah, he's probably talking it up a bit right now since he's in the middle of playing it, but the lore certainly does seem pretty interesting.
Also@Psi: I miss those days, though all I really did back then was stupidly spam the hell out of everything. I still remember going back and forth with Duff for like, 3 hours trying to get the extendo to either 10 or 15k posts. I imagine I must've been pretty annoying back in the day, I remember AI yelling at us alot for filling page after page of nothing but emotes
Any Fooly Cooly love here? I have to say that is one of my favorite animes albeit it being so short. Just a really odd anime if you haven't seen it I recommend it, there are only 6 episodes I believe.
I've played diablo 2 for about 8 years now, and my depressing computer can't run D3 because of the graphics chip set is suck :c I'm depressed again </3

I don't ever remember you being annoying, but I do remember a lot of spam though we did have a ton of fun....Like getting 1k posts within 24 hours and stuff like that lol. I can't remember exactly how long the extendo got but it was the longest naturally visible thread at the time.

I've seen a couple episodes of FLCL, I just remember it being really weird lol.
To everyone that asked me how the munchkin is doing: She's doing good! All her major injuries healed up just fine [she was attacked by a dog earlier this year] and she is turning into quite the little girl. She's potty trained and full of energy. I can't believe she's going to be three in a few months.
And I'm a little drowsy, I was up until 5:30 cleaning woke up at 8 from mom banging around too much... Now I get to go to work Yay!

This is a very interesting conversation, so I don't mind continuing it.
You bring up a good point about Peter; I was focusing a little too much on some of the more climactic multi-character fights (generally season-enders) in which Peter took a leading role and not as much on his motivations as a character in general. I agree with you that his power comes from his love for others (as Angela and Charles stated in Season One) and think it's fascinating that the evolution of his character is a dark mirror of the evolution of Sylar's character. Of note is that Peter only regained a power to save Nathan. To go beyond the characters you mentioned, Matt became telepathic because he was constantly afraid of what others thought of him and was stuck in a dead-end traffic cop job, Nikki gained superhuman strength in response to her abusive father and her sister's death, D.L. gained phasing because he needed to get back to his family and uncover the truth about who framed him (not quite as compelling emotionally, but vital to the narrative), Micah's technopathy was a natural consequence of a kid being way too smart for his situation in life, and Isaac pretty much set the stage for the show in general and demonstrated that drugs and evolved abilities interact in nuanced and potentially dangerous ways (painting, or at least predicting, the future is a bit of a trope in sci-fi as-is).

I liked that anime, but it's not one of my favorites. I might appreciate it more if I were to rewatch it. The animation and coloring is certainly some of the best out there.
I've played diablo 2 for about 8 years now, and my depressing computer can't run D3 because of the graphics chip set is suck :c I'm depressed again </3
There, there. Diablo II is probably a better game, anyway. (Or so I'll tell you if it makes you feel better. :halo:)

Yikes, I don't remember hearing about that! I'm glad she seems to be doing better. Keep us updated on her, OK?
I signed up too late to ever experience extendos...and I've never seen anything like them on other forums. The old Testing Grounds, right? Was that linked to it?
Yes, it was a thread of mine in the testing grounds back when it wasn't private. Mainly was used as a place to freely talk without the worry of spam warnings or infractions. There were a core group of us...Daftmouse, AI, Clem, Ed, Duff, Guardman, myself and others that got pretty close or as close as you can over the internet.
Fun times and memories were had .

I assume Claire's powers manifested simply because they needed to, to survive the fire and whatnot. I think her powers are probably the most boring in this regard, though there really isn't any helping that, since she was only a baby at the time.
I see Sylar's powers coming from the fact that he never really found a place that was truly his, he was a simple watchmaker, enjoyed what he did. He liked finding out how things worked, seeing all the small parts that eventually made the whole. All he wanted was for his mother to say she was proud of him the way he was, and that he didn't need to be anything more than he is. But she kept telling him he could be something greater. No matter what he did, it was never enough. When he got the call from Chandra he saw it as a way to finally get his mother's approval, if he had a great power, and a great destiny, surely there couldn't be anything more she'd expect from him? Though Chandra noted no great power from him and Sylar got furious. Later, when he saw someone who had a great power, he coveted it immediately, the man just wanted to get rid of the power and live a normal life, he was broken, and didn't want to be fixed, but Sylar needed to see what made him tick...He finally found a great power, but just taking the power of one man wasn't enough, he needs to be the best, the strongest, because he could be anything he wanted.(Even the president :p)
I could definitely keep talking about Sylar, though I think i'll leave it there for now.
I don't think D.L.'s power manifested out of a need to escape prison. The way I see it, D.L.'s power manifested itself out of the desire to be with his family, to never allow any wall to keep him from his son.
I think Micah's powers probably manifested because he hard a hard time making friends at school, his father was in jail, and his mother was always gone trying to make money for them. All he had was technology to keep him company. He mentions several times that he "talks" to machines, he probably sees them as his friends.
Niki was emotionally insecure, being a jobless mother who couldn't provide the kind of life her genius son desired. Her husband turned to a life of crime to try to support their family, this wasn't the kind of life she wanted for Micah, but she wasn't strong enough to change things for herself. In times of weakness, she remembered her sister Jessica, who was always there for her as a child, Jessica who always protected Niki, Jessica who could always make things right.
I see Matt's powers getting manifested not so much because he was afraid of what people thought of him, but moreso because he felt inadequate. He always wanted to be a cop, to be able to help people, to not be his father. But he kept failing his detective exam because his dislexia caused him to get poor marks on his written exam. What kind of cop can't even read? And now his relationship is suffering and he can't figure out why. He's not going to be a failure like his father, but he didn't know how to fix things, if only he knew what to do, what to say...If only he knew.
Charlie had a limited time left on this planet, so many things she didn't know, and would never get to know about this world. If only there was a way for her to learn enough to last a lifetime before her death.
They never really mentioned much about Isaac's background, but I think it's easy to assume that his powers came from him being afraid of what the future might hold, his paintings weren't selling, if they don't sell he'll have to give up art. If he gives up art, he loses a big connection with Simone, the girl of his dreams. Isaac always seemed to be a weak man, losing his love and his passion was probably too much pain to bear for him, so in a moment of weakness he tried to take the pain away. Finally able to put his worries behind him, his mind became suddenly clear, he could finally paint what he needed to.
This is another thing I really like about Heroes, their powers seem to granted to them, like a gift from god.(As was mentioned several times in the series in an off-hand fashion) All you need to do is spend a little time thinking about a character, put yourself in their shoes and the pieces put themselves together.
duffman ended up attending my university, and we've been hanging out a lot IRL. I think he is a pretty cool guy. Eh has his own catchphrases and doesn't afraid of anything.

Older than me, and i've been called an old fogey.
Haven't played Magic in months, and I think I uninstalled Cockatrice. But it should be easy enough to reinstall and shake off the rust.

I saw the first few episodes of the former and all of the latter (including the films) and enjoyed them, though I would go beyond your statements and assert that Monster may be more disturbing than Neon Genesis Evangelion. Maybe.
A shame it ended after only two seasons.
"All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, you'd better run, better run outrun my gun."
Err...I mean...yeah Sylar!
A shame indeed :(, they could've done sooo much more with the anime but they didn't :(.
I never did ask, what was your favorite episode?.....I have a hunch of what it might be :sneakybread:.
I would certainly say it was more disturbing than NGE, especially if you knew the whole story and ending. Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys was also the same way, in that the story was very intricate and kept you on your toes(Also more disturbing than NGE, though less so than Monster).
That reminds me, the first Eden of the East AMV i've seen(also the best one i've seen)was to that song.
Also, Sylar
Sylar is easily the most interesting character in the show, and, in my opinion, the most likable as well.
S02E02. Bath time!
I heard good things about that one, too.
Small world.
Fo. Sho.
I'm currently waiting for my laptop to come back from repair, at which point I will finally be able to play Diablo III. Can you say...SUPEREXCITED!?!?!?
In other news, my house is going through a total reformation of cleanliness...Screw spring cleaning this is more summer cleaning. I need to purge some of my daughter's toys. How many of you remember when I was pregnant?
I've been on this site too long and too many periods of inactivity!

Sorry for the rant, I like talking about manga.
It's certainly been a while since we've all been around at the same time. How is the little one these days?
The story certainly adds a lot to the gameplay experience, but calling it "insanely good" may be overselling it a bit. (This is coming from someone who actually cared about the lore way back in Diablo I.) A few people have told me that DII is superior to DIII, but I want to get into DIII as much for the social aspects as for the gameplay. Additionally, my copy of DII has...issues...As a result, I can't use it to access B.net.
Yep!! That episode is so hilarious.
* Psi waves to DF.
Hi DF! It's been a while :), how are you and your daughter? And I most certainly remember when you were pregnant :).
Me too :embarrass:.
Yeah :(. Seems like not long ago, we were spamming up my extendo (version 1, pre-testing grounds revamp). Fun times and memories.

-edit-
I've seen a couple episodes of FLCL, I just remember it being really weird lol.

To go beyond the characters you mentioned, Matt became telepathic because he was constantly afraid of what others thought of him and was stuck in a dead-end traffic cop job, Nikki gained superhuman strength in response to her abusive father and her sister's death, D.L. gained phasing because he needed to get back to his family and uncover the truth about who framed him (not quite as compelling emotionally, but vital to the narrative), Micah's technopathy was a natural consequence of a kid being way too smart for his situation in life, and Isaac pretty much set the stage for the show in general and demonstrated that drugs and evolved abilities interact in nuanced and potentially dangerous ways (painting, or at least predicting, the future is a bit of a trope in sci-fi as-is).
duffman ended up attending my university, and we've been hanging out a lot IRL. I think he is a pretty cool guy. Eh has his own catchphrases and doesn't afraid of anything.
I liked that anime, but it's not one of my favorites. I might appreciate it more if I were to rewatch it. The animation and coloring is certainly some of the best out there.
There, there. Diablo II is probably a better game, anyway. (Or so I'll tell you if it makes you feel better. :halo:)
Yikes, I don't remember hearing about that! I'm glad she seems to be doing better. Keep us updated on her, OK?
Yes, it was a thread of mine in the testing grounds back when it wasn't private. Mainly was used as a place to freely talk without the worry of spam warnings or infractions. There were a core group of us...Daftmouse, AI, Clem, Ed, Duff, Guardman, myself and others that got pretty close or as close as you can over the internet.
Fun times and memories were had .
-edit-
I may be wrong...But that looks like what the Speakeasy evolved from (not my thread specificly, but the concept)
I remember watching bits and pieces of it years ago, all I remember about it was that I was insanely confused. I might have to montage it again some day just so I can actually pay attention and remember it.
Yeah, that thread was massive. I'm pretty sure I remember it hitting 25k posts, though i'm not too sure.
That's horrible, though it's good to hear she's doing fine.
Man, I haven't talked to him in a long time, I miss my Duffsy :crying:.
Oh man, that extendo would be 300 pages of red text if they could've infracted us.
I'm pretty sure I had at least 1k infract-able posts in that thread.
Talk about making me feel like a bad parent. Anywho...
Work is going well for the most part but I'm sick and the antibiotic I'm on causes dizziness, and I'm already prone to dizziness due to my low blood pressure and it doesn't take much to get me to drop. hohoho that's fun!

I am very disappointed that I am not on that core list Psi.
I left you out intentionally so you could get mad and punish me?
Yeah that was an accident :embarrass:...
* Psi edits in Guardman right next to Psi.
You were definitely there.....Being ninja before ninja was cool .
-edit-
I miss the old love smiley for that code :(. (It may or may not still be around, but I haven't checked :p. I write these codes from memory.)
As far as I can tell it's gone. They did away with it to punish us for our past relationships. Oh woah is my closet.
Also, holy hell it's hot. 90 degrees. D:
It's 86 in my house.
