R_O, that was the book to which I was referring. I thought it was well written and the plot was interesting. The book is very hard to put down, but I felt it was anticlimatic. The book will leave you wanting more at some points, and bore you at others. It's worth the read, but be warned, it isn't Stephen King's greatest work (at least from what I've heard, I've only read a handful of his books.)
EDIT: It played with my emotions a lot more than the average ho-hum story did. The 400+ pages seems very daunting at first, but you just feel the need to keep reading the book for most of it. I felt connected with the main character during the book, which is also something new for me.
If you do decide to read it, please be in touch, so I can hear the opinion of others.
First post has been update for everyone who joined/friended. I'll be posting in the Council now, we've been open for one day more than 2 weeks.
Submissions for SSC XXVII are being judged. Two submissions are in, so go check them out and give critiques. I'll probably be the sole judge this time.
SSC XXVIII prompt is up! This one's a magic-related one. Get to it folks. This one should be very fun.
Welcome to the neighborhood, World Builders! Then again, you make lotsa neighborhoods, so...
Eh, badjokeisbad.
Anyhow, can you put me down for a "friends of" spot? I appreciate the things I've read glancing through and I've created/manipulated a few universes in my time. I'll probably check in here from time to time anyway to see what you're all talking/dropping knowledge about

I seem to recall reading that The Gunslinger was one of his first novels (written, not published), which would account for that. Have you read the revised edition?
My favorite was Wizard and Glass. Looking forward to The Wind Through The Keyhole.
I didn't even know there was a revised edition? So, not likely! As for The Wind Through The Keyhole, I don't know what that is. Mind you, I haven't been keeping up with Stephen King in recent years.

To everyone in the House Shimia thread...I am still on a boat, and a perfect storm of expensive wi-fi use, and iPhones being a pain to post with makes a perfect storm for why I haven't posted yet. In a couple days I will be home, and capable of catching up. Sorry for everyone who's waiting.
Honestly it seems like if you don't want people discussing illegal activities, logical would dictate you would take down the posts that involved the discussion of illegal activities.
Time to sign up for NSFW poetry so I can read Blip's thread

The Wind Through the Keyhole is a new book he's writing, a new book in the series. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble remembering where in the storyline it takes place (r_0 told me all this, but I've slept since then, and he's lost internet connection at home, so can't be here himself. :() but I think it gives you more storyline with Cuthbert and Jamie.
Though, I suppose I could have just read the wiki page myself, haha.
I have mounds of technical skills and can do a passable GIMP [seriously, what a horrible name. And what a horrible UI. Etc.] impersonation of Photoshop ... and a better job in Photoshop ... but I kind of hate doing it. Which is why I switched my major from CS to writing and is why I will never have money ever ever.
Also I don't care about the photoshop clan contests. So eh. Maybe if there's a really good reason, heh.
Talore, @3/1: eh. When I am angry, I write angsty emo poetry that is awful, and I submit it in the poetry contest and it gets no votes because it is awful. [Different from the times where I get no votes because my style has grown a new head.]
Kindle things from before: I'm considering the cheapest Kindle right now. Nook touch/Kindle touch are both e-ink, they have IR things on the sides of the screen but screens are matte. But both the kindle touch and nook simple touch are kinda ... not dependable I think. The IR of my simple touch died anyways, and I've heard random bugs. $80, cheapness ... it seems wanted.
I just have to justify it somehow.
Am writing a few magic-ish things that could probably fit into the SSC. ... We'll see. I'm also supposed to write a book and stuff, but that hasn't been going swimmingly. So. ... And magic is always fun. Maybe I'll write something tonight.
... Are these ringworld/epic world things RP's in the RP forum part thing?

You've still got about two weeks for the SSC, so don't rush. Have some fun with it.
Ringworld is a story series written by Larry Niven, of Nevinyrral's Disk fame. He's not only a prolific and amazing writer, he helped make MTG what it is.
Epic World is an RP in the Colosseum. A fantasy world based on letting you be what you want.
Cheese is literally my life right now. My parents are on a no carb diet, which means me and my brothers are on it too, even though I weigh like 120 pounds (I'm 15), and as thin as a rail. I've been... experimenting with it.
What decks/formats?
Remind me to never ask you for any cheese if we ever were to meet....
Any good books or such coming up for release soon that people are interested in? I havent read much as of late and was looking for something to get into
I still play Magic...love brewing up casual rogue decks. I have a Tolsimir/Wiltleaf Liege WG Elf deck I'm cooking up at the moment, and a Primalcrux deck that is feared within my playgroup.

I don't really know why that's important to me, but it is :p.

Ringworld's pretty interesting. I'm about halfway through the first.
Epic World needs more players before it needs more content.
And by 'more content', I mean 'another bounty' 'extra quest', things like that.

I still play Magic, but never while eating cheese! See Point A.
