The new piece sounds a bit strange, but it keeps me listening. It's quite interesting.
I'm probably changing the snare sample on it to a better one, and amplifying the bass sounds during chorus (Layering multiple bass sounds: Just increasing the bass frequencies on this one gives headache to anyone listening.). I'm also reducing the volume on the pad (The one that's panned left and right.), as it's a bit too dominant.

Anyways, is there anyone else here who actually writes music? I've seen Amadi's music, and I'm interested in hearing things that have been written by us music-people around here.
I still need to ask here: Has anyone on here looked at my quiz (in my signature)? People who like music should be able to handle it. If you have a strong interest in music, you should be able to bring the average up.
Has anyone else taken the quiz recently? Play-counts don't seem to be registering on my page anymore, but I'm still wondering. I figured that the music-based clan would have the most interest in this quiz...

I write up loops and things, but its nothing like people who write songs!

Ah. If you want to hear a real piece I wrote for listening, there's Eclipse.
(The entire first section repeats (ABA form), but that section in the middle is probably the best thing I've written.)
I just spent *exactly* an hour creating a new song in FL Studio. You know, Here's a post that explains the story of why I did it, and what you are to expect.
Of course, if you just want to facecheck it, go on ahead.
@Aurora: That's really cool. You could play the lower register chords louder, though. That would give much more energy to the performance. That's mostly about the performance and not the composition, though.

My summer break ends a few days into September, so this last month will consist of me scrambling to finish my summer reading work haha
To get back on the topic about metal on this thread, I have found something absolutely awesome. It's..
Swedish Avant-Garde Swing Jazz Metal.
And it's totally awesome.

Actually, that wasn't a performance; just an MP3 rendition of a midi I wrote.
Your new piece is quite interesting, in what seems to be a 9/8 time signature at the beginning (though it goes to 4/4 later).
CLT: Amadi's new piece.
Anyways, just wondering... when someone posts a CLT statement, does anyone else take a listen to it? I usually do, but I'm wondering if many others do or not.

I gotta admit, I've got no bloody idea about the time signature. I just made an intro that sounded decent, and I didn't really even have time to go back to it to fix things up.
I'll probably revisit at a later date and make it all good and proper. I know I gotta look at the rhytm of the thing at times, add accent percussions, get a proper mastering done, etc. I've got some other projects I'm working on currently, though. This was mostly a break from them, and I figured I might learn something new trying to limit myself in this way.

This is a silly sketch I made some time ago, based on trying to find a "solution" on how to follow the instructions given by the chorus of this song. The song is metaphorical, about staying positive, but I decided to make a silly sketch about trying to follow it literally.

I do depending on the musical tastes (genre) of the person who posts it, whether or not I've heard of it, and if I'm busy at the time.

Ah. I guess you're not looking at mine that much as I've already said I'm not a metalhead. Most of the pieces I look at are either classic rock, or recent pop music. The '90s, for some reason, seem to get left out of this.
There are a gazillion things that you can do on a date. It's pretty hard to give any specific advice not knowing either of you very well, and not even knowing where you are located. (I.E: Is it a huge city, or are there forests nearby, or what.)
One thing that works quite decently: Private dance lessons for two cost somewhere in the region of $50-$75 for an hour, and it's a very personal and surprising option. You don't even have to be a great dancer: "I am not a good dancer, but if there's someone I'd like to learn with, it's you.", or so.
Picnic is another fairly generic option. It all depends on the setting: Beautiful, peaceful natural environments work best. Movies, another "failsafe", but pretty boring. You should aim for something where you are focusing your attention on each other, instead of something else entirely.

The intro cymbal tapping? I'm pretty sure lots of pieces have it. It's a simple swing rhythm.
In other news... I practiced a 15-second excerpt of a song in order for a future quiz. Wow, that took a lot longer than expected to get down. (It's a fairly well-known song from 1987... the right hand (lead guitar) and left hand (bass guitar) are fairly easy individually, but combining the two was extremely difficult due to the weird left-hand rhythms. Not to mention that there's a lot of stretching in the right hand, and it's in the key of Db major.
(A cookie to anyone who can guess what song this is... I'm not sure if it's enough information or not.)

Yeah, the weather is nice and there are many beautiful parks, and a picnic is also cheap!

CLT? I can't really tell you... because I'm only listening to a certain section repeatedly in order to figure out how to play it on piano.

Sort of explains why it felt the playing lacked feeling. Still, it's getting crafty telling apart real performances from computer-generated ones.
Or then I'm just bad. Could be.
