I'm actually not to food of the list because it doesn't seem to be use the potential that is inherent in EXT. I do however like the idea of using changing style removal...
Is the Haakon- Inversion engine really needed? From my experience running 2 combos in a deck doesn't work much, specially if the 2 combos try to make completly different things.
After combat damage has resolved, can I use Ninja of the Deep Hours to save a creature in my hand from utter doom caused by an end-of turn trigger?
Thanks
Yes. In fact, Ninjas are so cool, that you can return a first striker after first strike damage is dealt, and have the ninja also deal damage!
Quote from old cranial insertion article (your question is addressed at the end of this) »
Q: Let's say I'm attacking with an unblocked Kitsune Blademaster. With first strike damage on the stack (or resolved), can I Ninjitsu out Ninja of the Deep Hours and he will deal his regular damage, letting me draw a card?
A: This works just fine, further proving that Ninjas are sneaky. Once an opponent does not declare a blocker for an attacking creature, that creature is an “unblocked, attacking creature” until the end of combat. With the Blademaster’s first strike damage on the stack or after it resolves but before normal combat damage is put on the stack, you can have it rip off its disguise and pop, out comes the ninja! Since the Ninja is only in flavor the same creature as the Blademaster, but not by the rules, it says “Hey, I’m a creature without double strike that didn’t deal damage in the first strike combat damage step” and pulls out its sword to poke the opponent again.
* Bonus: You can eat your cake, too! Since the Ninja is still an unblocked attacking creature, you can use another Ninja to return it to your hand after it has dealt its damage. The new Ninja won’t deal damage, but this can save your Higure, the Still Wind if you expect that having him in play during your opponent’s next turn would be hazardous for his health.
Pretty cool! Speaking of ninjas, I was really sad when they had no ninjas in saviors. There aren't enough ninjas!
chaos ... that would be cool. It would take a reeeeally long time to set up, but ... yeah, it would be cool.
I've been thinking of a deck idea, too ... it uses an Alara Reborn card, though, so I'll do it in spoilers [just in case].
Maelstrom Nexus: WUBRG. The first spell you play every turn has Cascade [Cascade being the thing that lets you look through your library for a card with up to CMC 1 less than the card you cast - and then play it for free and shuffle].
Now, there are a couple ways to "break" the Nexus here. Let me just list a few:
-Instants: you can trigger cascade off of a Cryptic Command, for instance, and then trigger Cascade AGAIN during your turn. Note: I am poor. Therefore I am not doing this.
-Spells that have cascade: HAVE DOUBLE CASCADE [:P]
-Err ... play a bunch of large things that are synergetic [which is what you want to do anyways].
So. Looking ahead, I could imagine a 5CC deck after rotation that looks a bit like this:
Weeeeeeee!
God, I love this mechanic. Note that on the second deck you are guaranteed to hit whatever the 2 mana spell is. Well, most of the time.
Second deck remade to use 4 colors instead of 5:
With that you have 9 turn 3 drops, 3 turn 2 drops. 8 turn 4 drops. The best part is that when you get farther into your curve you still drop the same stuff, it just gets ... better.

Now that I think of it, we may be overcomplicating the Scion thing, It would only be needed a Nicol Bolas bash followed by a Dragon Tyrant attack to finish the game, maybe Quicksilver dragonalso to swerve removal and the other slots on the deck should be destined to get the Scion on play earlier (and without disruptions of course).

Very rough deck, and obviously not extended legal, but it's an idea. Mostly going for pitching cards to the Ur-Dragon and then reanimating them if needed. It seems strong, but then again, I don't play extended.
Are we supposed to make a sideboard? Personally, I'm not quite sure what to put in it. I do like the Shoals being there though. The three basics are necessary for Path to Exile, and the fetch lands.
And I can't stress how important Numot, Vorosh, and Oros are to make the deck. In addition to their utility, the fact we can use their abilities because of the five color deck thing, they follow the same vien of epicness Ur Dragon-ness.
Also, can we get a copy of Fist of the Suns? At least 1, prefably 2.
Fist of the Suns doesn't make sense. I mean, Scion costs WUBRG already.

seratonin, Fist of Suns is a 3 mana artifact that says you can pay WUBRG for your spells. In this case, we'd be paying WUBRG for our WUBRG spell. Channel the Suns is what you were thinking of, maybe?
[Yes, I did have a 'Fist of Suns' deck. It was hilarious. SOULSCOUR!!!]

Well, with the sideboard, do we want to use extended staples like pyroclastic pillar (not sure if it would work well in our deck though) or shattering spree, or stick to the theme?
So we have the completed spoiler... any thoughts on the new set? I'm really beginning to like Cascade. Although it won't be combo-worthy.
Well, I was pretty disappointed for Alara Reborn, i know it is the best set in ages, but it didn't had any good WB card, and that's the only 2 color combo I will ever play (O.K and maybe UB), because I have always found that dual lands are too costly and not worth the effort.
About sideboard, we should see what could wreak our strategy if left unchecked, Defense grid agains control maybe? Tormod's crypt against graveyard? What's going to be the metagame anyways? That's almost always what I use to decide my sideboard.:D
... shows me to not to look up the cards. :/
My apologies
CHANNEL the Suns makes more sense than seething song.
And ARB looks pretty good. I too was disapointed by the lack of WB, but a lot of the design made me smile. Though I hope they return to a monocolored foundation at somepoint. My wallet can't handle the duals.
There are a couple good cards in Alara Reborn for WB. In fact there are exactly two. Zealous Persecution and Identity Crisis (only good once lorwyn leaves). Necromancer's Covenant is cool though. Now I'm going to have to build an Esper zombie deck. In fact, I have a decklist laid out already.
Yeah, the next set wont have too many multicolor cards. After two multicolor blocks in a row, multicolor is unlikely in Zendikar. And it would be a first if there is multicolor in M10. Speaking of M10, I'm really glad Black Knight is being reprinted! It allows for mono-black aggro! Although mono is unlikely with shards in standard.
Sigil Captain 1GWW

3/3
Dauntless Escort 1GW
Creature - Rhox Soldier
Sacrifice Dauntless Escort: Creatures you control are indestructible this turn.
3/3
For anyone who hasn't picked up on it yet, there's a cool combo with Persist dudes and Sigil Captain. When they come back after persisting, if they're a 1/1 (as Murderous Redcap, Safeblade Elite, and Glen Elendra Archmage would be) it then gives them two +1/+1 counters, making them a 3/3, which negates the -1/-1 counter, so it can persist again next time.
I don't think that two Sigil Captains would double the effect, as they would check on resolution if said dude was still a 1/1.
The deck can easily be branched into Black, to abuse synergy with Nantuko Husk and Murderous Redcap, giving it combo-win potential, or into Blue, including things such as Glen Elendra Archmage to infinitely counter anything non-creature.
Wich was the deck that played Juniper order Ranger? You may try to take inspiration in that deck.
Ahh, were's Greater Gargadonwhen one needs him?
Yeah, it's kinda like that, but I like this better as it makes all the 1/1's into 3/3's. Which is glorious. The ranger also made himself bigger, and tougher to burn out, true, but *shrug* iunno

Here's an Idea I have for this deck:
4 Channel the suns
1 Dragon Tyrant
1 Intet, the Dreamer
1 Teneb, the harvester
1 Nicol Bolas
4 Goryo's Vengeance
3 Damnation (Is this considered netdecked?)
3 Gifts Ungiven
1 Qucksilver Dragon
1 Kokusho, the evening Star
2 Read the Runes (good for discarding cards you won't use)
4 Smallpox
3 Careful Consideration
3 Pyroclasm
4 City of Brass
4 Godless Shrine
4 Watery Grave
4 Overgrown Tomb
4 Polluted Delta
4 Windswept Heat
Mana base needs work though (too netdecked)
Here is my deck list idea
4 Scion of the Ur-Dragon
2 Kokusho, the Evening Star
2 Bladewing the Risen
2 Quicksilver Dragon
1 Rorix Bladewing
1 Dragon Mage
1 Teneb, the Harvester
1 Keiga, the Tide Star
1 Dragon Tyrant
1 Nicol Bolas
1 Intet, the Dreamer
1 Hellkite Overlord
4 Desperate Ritual
2 Through the Breach
4 Rite of Flame
4 Manamorphose
4 Seething Song
I'm not in the mood for sideboarding or putting in the lands right now, so take it as it is.

Pretty cool! Speaking of ninjas, I was really sad when they had no ninjas in saviors. There aren't enough ninjas!
AWESOME! So, here's the idea that provoked that question.
What if you used Goryo's Vengeance to reanimate Nicol Bolas, had him do his hand-shredding thing, then saved him from the removed-from-game trigger by ninjitsuing with Ninja of the Deep Hours.
I kinda wanna build a u/b deck around this.

So. Looking ahead, I could imagine a 5CC deck after rotation that looks a bit like this:
[Lands that make 5 colors. I'm not picky here. Probably 11 shardlands and 16 of some basics.]
Spells(21)
4 Maelstrom Nexus
4 Bituminous Blast
4 Oblivion Ring
4 Ardent Plea
4 Esper Charm
2 Cruel Ultimatum
4 Sprouting Thrinax
4 Wall of Denial
Thrinax will come back into vogue. I think. If he's playable.
I'll probably be running this, though:
2 Arcane Sanctum
4 Savage Lands
2 Seaside Citadel
4 Crumbling Necropolis
4 Jungle Shrine
2 Forest
2 Swamp
2 Island
2 Plains
3 Mountain
4 Ardent Plea [3]
4 Bituminous Blast [5]
4 Captured Sunlight [4]
4 Enigma Sphinx [7]
4 Bloodbraid Elf [4]
4 Enlisted Wurm [6]
4 Esper Charm [3]
1 Oona's Grace [3]
3 Pyroclasm [2: this card can change]
4 That white spell that removes R/B creatures for 1W
4 Terror? [Unmake?]
3 Volcanic Fallout
Weeeeeeee!

Along with them, we need Dragonspeaker Shaman and Dragonsould Knight for utility and theme.
Those 9 cards are auto includes, and we need to fit them in.

Sideboard staples would be Thoughtsieze, Duress, Damnation, Smother, Shattering Spree, Ancient Grudge, Engineered Explosives, Chalice of the Void, Chrome Mox (we might want to main board this one), Ensnaring Bridge (works well with malfegor). I don't think people use enchantment destruction in extended currently, unless it destroys artifacts too.
