Welcome to [The Family]: a clan comprised completely of Mafia players. It's a place to cool off between the cut-throat games, a place to rest and relax with reduced chances of getting stabbed in the back, a place to viciously haunt those that killed you, and a place to complain about long nights.
If you want to join us, just make a post and say hello. You don't even have to play mafia! (Although, that is recommended...) We have a totally open door friend policy, so anyone can pop their head in and try to not have it cut off!

ZDS: Can you ask and find out if us judging excess decks gives those clans bonus points? And what is done about the point imbalance of clans whose deck doesn't get many reviews?
Because it looks like we could easily build a bloc of 4/5 clans and rig the contest. (If we so desired)

You are required to vote/rate for a minimum of 3 decks, if you only vote for 2, you'll get a -1 Point in the end, which counts for the CotY race.
If, you rate/vote for every deck submitted, you'll get a +1 point instead
There's no way to actually rig the voting, unless you can vote/rate every deck AND be voted the best deck by every clan in the contest.
The rubric is in the first post of the CC#5 thread.
-Each deck is judged out of 15.
-Not every clan has to review every deck, meaning that some decks will get more reviews than others.
-Thus, clans with more reviews will get more points.
Is there a normalising system of some kind to balance out some decks getting more reviews than others?
EDIT: oh, right the +1/-1 thing is for the CLoTY race, rather than the deck score. Even so, my main point still stands.

The purpose of the +1/-1 is to build clan contest activity.
So vote for all of them, 9 decks aren't that difficult to break down.
Its meant as a motivator, and to get more effort out of the clans. And the council agreed to it.

Sure, but in the event that not everyone reviews all the decks, some decks have more reviews and therefore will be almost guaranteed to score higher and win. Correct?

Yes thats correct. My rubric was initially designed differently, but we ended up adopting Castle's rubric, and Rin's bonus to more initiative.
If you feel there is an issue with the rubric I would urge you to bring it up with the coucil, especially when we were voting on it.
I think it's time for me to take a break from mafia.
A really, really long break. People just keep inexplicably playing less and less intelligently, to the point that I can't stand it. This site used to have some good players, mostly middle of the road players, and a select few(like less than 5) bad players. Now it has a select few good players, a bit more middle of the road ones, and a ton of people that are completely clueless. And half of those are gimmicks of people that were already bad, but got tired of being called bad, so instead made a new guy for the town to mislynch a few times before figuring out that it's just some gimmick.
I cannot stand it. I miss fadeblue, carrion pigeons, cropcircles, DYH, bateleur, arimnaes(and others that I can't think of their name right now). I hope they read this and feel compelled to come back. And I hope that whatever gimmick joboman, tilde, and DV are posting from read this and get so mad that they reveal themselves and/or quit playing. And take Nakamura(not a gimmick, just one of the most awful players I have ever seen) with them.
If you leave it'll just exacerbate the problem as you perceive it. If the issue is too many of your favorite players leaving and you leave as well, how does that fix anything? Why not make more good players?
I play a fair bit of EDH, and can help you there. Though I'll preface that by saying that my buddy has a Sharuum list that he is constantly trying to make better, and thus far it simply hasn't worked out that well, for whatever reason.
@Zionite: The playerbase as a whole is too soft. Players play poorly/scummily and instead of getting lynched and being forced to improve, they just get a pass on it. Everyone would rather 'have the right read on someone(or not have the wrong read)', than lynch people that act like scum and then just have to play better if that person happened to be town.
@ZDS: That is most likely what is going to happen. But just because I accept this doesn't mean that I'm happy about it. Mafia is one of my few passions(and more or less the only reason I still log on to Salvation), it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth to just walk away from it.
@Eco: Do you want me to go rant in the sticky thread?
I think the point should be raised - under the current system, it'd be really easy to manipulate the scores and deliberately omit potential competitors, and it could certainly happen by accident too.
Each clan could have 3 decks assigned at random to it (which would reduce but not eliminate the problem).

Indeed. I don't think I can technically post in the council, not being the Clan Rep.
commas, are always, nessecarry, because, they, make the world, go round
Yes but your clan rep is capable of speaking your concerns.
And a PM to the clans Mods couldn't hurt either.
If you have issue with something, its generally good to make sure they're heard.
