Heyo Yukora! I sure do... I'm on LiteratureCrazy most of the time, but sometimes I forget to sign on... I don't really use MSN Msgr all that much these days tho.
How's everybody doing? I'm really glad to hear that you (Starr) got everything (or almost everything) worked out... We just ordered pizza and buffalo wings... i'm starving.. it's gonna be goooood.. Then prob gonna watch either Hunt for Red October or Goldfinger Gotta love Netflix
My hubby's computer is crapping out and we're flat broke so I'm giving him mine to play games on. During the day I can use it for w/e but nights I'm usually doing chores and crap.
Besides my graphics setup on the other comp is so much better than his, it will be like putting on glasses.

Yum pizza and buffalo wings sounds pretty awesome right now actually haha. Also have fun watching the movies.
@starr: sorry to hear about that starr.
I am actualy doing well and I'll be doing even better after I get these finals out of the way this coming week.
Anyway, I gotta get back to studying so I can have sometime tonight to play ff13 and hopefully beat it this time.
... like PurpleD... and who could forget some of the antics under those invisible blankets by the fire...
Hey now, those antics weren't THAT crazy! At least nobody got hurt. Okay... well maybe people did, but they were TOTALLY asking for it.
And geez, when you drop my name like that's it's impossible not to come back! So here I am. As you can probably see, it's been AGES since I've been back. Seeing as my avvy still has a Santa hat and my last post here was on Feb. 9, 2009. Wow.
I saw some pictures of a big Coffeehouse meeting and I have to say that seeing all of you together made me want to come back and say hello. I'm in a new city now, slightly bewildered and totally confused so I need the coffeehouse more than ever. Please say you'll take me back
So I'll put a brief history of my past year away from Sally in a spoiler box, because I'm sure some people have no idea who this vibrating "crayon" dropping in on them is and thus couldn't care less.
So yeah... took a year off of high school in order to focus my goals and save up for University. In that time, I met an amazing girl whom I dated from February of last year until about 2 weeks ago (I can go into more detail, if you're curious) and made lots of money. I moved from Calgary to Edmonton in September of last year to take political science and the University of Alberta. I lived in residence there where I drank more than I knew I was capable of and partied until my voice was gone (on numerous occasions). Despite my reckless ways, I managed to finish my first year of University with a 3.4 GPA (and would have been higher if not for the dreaded Spanish holding me down with a C+) and have just moved into a house with 4 amazing roommates just a few blocks from campus. I'll fill you in on more as I get reintegrated with the Coffeehouse!
If you read that, know that I appreciate your caring and am glad to have you back in my life!
Its amazing the amount of memories we have here, and the things I can imagine happening, even if they never "physically" happened...
This pretty much sums it up right here. I've known some of you for as long as I've known some of my best friends and even though I've been gone for a year, I feel like we're still tighter than ever!
@ Starr: Congrats on getting even closer to my wonderful country! I know I probably knew this at one point, but where are you planning on moving to?
@ Omna:You still have the banner that I made you?! My goodness, it's such a compliment! I noticed that it still has a reference to [Pages] on there though... sorry I dropped the ball on that one!
@ Alacar: Also apologies to you... I know how invested we both were in Disegreth and then I just up and left! I'm actually really interested in rebooting it, but I'm going to take time to plot it out a wee bit more and make sure I can fully commit this time (and avoid previous errors made). I think it's still an amazing idea with a lot of potential. Hopefully Yukora and Nai will be on board!
@ Everyone else: Thanks for listening to my rambling! I didn't have a chance to read all of the thread but it's my hope that I can start being the regular that I once was and can get to know the new members a little bit and the old ones even better! I'm going to try and stay active on Sally again and hopefully I'm still the same ol' PurpleD that you know and love.
Wow! Hi PurpleD! It's great to see you again. I'm glad to see you're moving up and out in your life, though I am sorry to hear about the recent breakup. The Coffeehouse has changed but we all still poke it and keep in touch (especially via facebook) so you're welcome to come back!
As for Disegreth.. I'd nearly forgotten about it. I'd love to either re-do it (cutting out the... questionable content) or pick it back up. I'd also like to re-try Casings; it lost its focus and I'd like to try more freeform role-playing. I've tried it once or twice before with little success (sorry, Charm_Master but I couldn't get into character with Skye).

Yay! Although I'll wait for my official endorsement from Omna before I feel like I'm officially a returned patron! So what's changed about it? I noticed a lot of old faces but I'm also seeing that some pretty big ones are missing too! Any awesome new members?

Yeah, I'm thinking about doing a whole reboot. Same premise but with all new characters, plots and a slightly altered endgame than I originally had for the first one. I think where I faltered last time was that I didn't set enough progress benchmarks so often I was posting just to keep the thread going but not the story going. I've been writing a more detailed script for it now, so now I have a few beginnings, a solid end, and a few progress posts. It's your duty to fill the in-betweens
I'd certainly be down for another Casings thread. My RPing is almost certainly pretty rusty so if you want to start a thread and help me shake off the rust, I would be thrilled!
I'd have to think it over with Shell Casings thread. I need to think of some sort of actual plot. The main sources of inspiration I have for it are Max Payne (1 and 2), Sin City, Reservoir Dogs, Taken, and film noir stuff. Over the top action combined with deep plot. Did you want to play the same kind of character, or try something new? I'd prefer it if you played a guy who actually knew how to shoot a gun, but it would be neat to try and see what I could do to train him
As for the Coffeehouse, it's changed in mostly that we don't post nearly as spastically as we used to. I mean, I forgot to mention to everyone that I now own a car, a white 1994 Pontiac Grand Am. My parents bought it for me for $900 and it runs pretty good. Now I can really start looking for work.
As for Disegreth, I wouldn't mind doing a reboot. I'd still like to play Sylvia. She was a firecracker.
I think I'd like to try a new kind of character... seeing as I don't remember very much about the old one! As for playing with Sylvia, I've already thought of a different character that would mesh well with her. Tight lipped and reserved... perfect for her to try and crack open!
Congrats on the new car! And good luck hunting for a job. I'm currently working 3 part time jobs because it seems as though nowhere is hiring full-time. Thankfully all of my bosses are pretty understanding about having to juggle the schedules.
Feel free to read the old thread if you want, but you're welcome to play a new character. You might see Fox again; I'm still thinking of using her, perhaps.
Thanks about the car. Today I'm going to get a title and tag for it so I can finally drive it. As for work, I'm going to look wherever I can, but I've heard of a job fair being held twice a month where they sign people up for work right there.
And PURPLED!!!!! It's awesome to see you back! Of course you have my eager sponsorship I'm hoping maybe we'll all become a bit more active... things have been busy for me so i haven't popped in as much as I used to, but hopefully with more activity that ought to improve
Well, tonight is the final NBA finals game, Boston Celtics vs. L.A. Lakers.. Personally I'm rooting for the Celtics.. since I love Boston and all. We're going out to get some beer for the game and stuff to mix with for a dip to munch on during the game, plus some salad dressing since I forgot to pick some up yesterday when I went shopping.
Anyway, I need to pee then we're going to the store.. I'll pop my head back in here when i get back
Good night, though if I don't get a chance to say hello again before tomorrow
Feel free to read the old thread if you want, but you're welcome to play a new character. You might see Fox again; I'm still thinking of using her, perhaps.
I just gave it a cursory run through and now I'm thinking about a character along the lines of Watchmen's Rorshach. How does that sound? Start up the thread... I'm getting very excited
Well, tonight is the final NBA finals game, Boston Celtics vs. L.A. Lakers.. Personally I'm rooting for the Celtics.. since I love Boston and all.
I'm pretty torn on who to cheer for, actually. The Celts have a great team and deserve to win it but I feel like the Lakers have played really well and Kobe deserves as many titles as his career can give him. Such a talented player.
Speaking of sports finals, I'm not sure if anyone follows hockey but the NHL finals were unreal. Both teams, the Philly Flyers and the Chicago Blackhawks, featured a lot of young, talented (and mostly Canadian) players. It was a treat to watch and the team I was rooting for won in game 7!
It's good to be back and thanks for allowing me to rejoin the family, Omna! You didn't answer my inquiry regarding Pages... what happened to it? I really miss having great book discussions! I've fallen even more in love with reading (especially graphic novels and comics) and would love to start up that discussion!
Well, not enough people were consistent with it, so Yukora stuck a fork in it and declared it dead
As for the NHL stuff.. I didn't follow it, but my boyfriend certainly knew about it.. I didn't have the channels it was on though..
I made some BBQ chicken last night... Great recipe- put two bottles of bbq sauce, two sticks of melted butter and a dash or two of Honey Brown beer... Damn good sauce if I say so myself... We're bringing some of it with us tonight for the finals game..
Oh.. and I GOT A CONDITIONAL JOB OFFER from the Gov't in Maryland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Alacar: Gratz on the car! Must feel awesome to finally have one.
@Omna: Absolutely gratz on the gov't job! Glad to hear you got it.
As for myself, I've been busy a lot myself getting into a political campaign for the NY state Assembly. That isn't to say I'm running... I'm just doing full-time volunteering for one of my friends (who also happens to be the campaign manager). I don't want to seem pushy with it all but if people would like a link to the campaign's website i'd be glad to post it here... Odds are though I'll be shoving it up through facebook tonight.
Edit: Oh and go Celtics! Not that I hate the Lakers... it's just preference this year...
@ Starr: Congrats on getting even closer to my wonderful country! I know I probably knew this at one point, but where are you planning on moving to?
Been here for two years. Toronto and thereabouts. No cowtowns for me, too expensive to live there now.
Nice to see so many old timers coming back. PurpleD, Shinobi, also (last thread) Photon Eater. And others I've missed too!
Off to FNM soon. I get an early start out the door so I can check out the job boards at the uni before going to grab lunch and buy packs.
edit: one thing I like about Canada so far is that my extra-strength cold tablets are "extra puissant". Just in case you need a powerful wizard on your side to stop a runny nose.

Yay! It looks like I swooped in just at the right time... now where's ma cookie?!
Tomorrow I spend time with Daidream, then Saturday is my nephew's 3rd birthday.
Are you two still dating? How long has that been?! Because I seem to recall you started dating her shortly before I left which was about a year and a half ago.
PurpleD, I'll start Shell Casings soon.. just gotta remind me. I'm usually on Yahoo and Facebook.
Sounds great! I'm hoping to finish storyboarding for Disegreth 2.0 by next weekend.
Been here for two years. Toronto and thereabouts. No cowtowns for me, too expensive to live there now.
Haha, you say it like Toronto is any cheaper! But you reminded me to change my hometown on Sally. I'm now living in Edmonton, 3 hours north of Calgary. The way I compare the two: Calgary is a small city that thinks it's a big one. Edmonton is a smaller city that thinks it's a small town.
So tonight I'm going to see Toy Story 3 with an awesome girl I know! I'm actually super excited... Toy Story was my absolute favourite movie as a kid and so far the reviews have been verypositive
Is anyone else planning on seeing it on opening weekend? Or is anyone else as excited as I am?!
I'm doing well, thanks :). I changed it like, five or six months back and did so to make all my internet handles the same basically :).
Ah, that makes sense. It's a good idea to have the same online screenames... it helps to avoid having an online identity crisis.
@Seph: Oh no, keep it away! I know if I start playing WoW again I'll never get to know anyone in my new city and that would be awful. The only reason I stopped playing is because I wasn't spending enough time with my friends/girlfriend... now there'd be nobody to hold me back! And that's a slippery slope indeed.
Hello again CoffeeHouse! Seems that the place revitalized a bit.
Last days were quite messy for me, Extended Rotation, unlucky results, a lot of stuff to do... I'm here by the way, and today it's my birthday (Happy Birthday to me :D).
Hullo thurr, Frozen Fire! I don't believe we've met. I'm PurpleD and I'm pretty much a big deal. Well, not actually but I am trying to re-take my rightful place in the Coffeehouse (by the fire, in a comfy chair underneath an invisible blanket with several books and just a wee bit of bailey's in my coffee). Happy birthday! Here's a What are your big plans for the day?
I'm really not sure how I feel about the new extended. Granted I haven't played Magic competitively for almost a year, but it really just feels like extended has now become where old standard decks go. The tier 1 standard decks will usually translate into tier 1 extended decks now whereas the old extended certainly offered that option as well as more varied deck choices.
With that said, I'm tempted to remake the Merfolk deck that I t8'd at regionals with for the new extended. It'll really depend on if the format catches on around here.
Heyo Yukora! I sure do... I'm on LiteratureCrazy most of the time, but sometimes I forget to sign on... I don't really use MSN Msgr all that much these days tho.
Ah, that would explain it. I still have you listed as "ArchivingWriter"
Dunno about Teeg. Probably depends on how well he plays with white planeswalkers. Also there's more stuff that can get rid of him for cheap. I don't like his chances outside of a dedicated control deck.
I've always seen Teeg as sideboard material, so I really think it depends on what the metagame shapes up like. It's definitely one of those "deal with it now" cards (like Sower of Temptation) but I'm not sure if that means it'll increase its value.
So for anyone who hasn't seen Toy Story 3, GO SEE IT NOW! Such an incredible movie... and it's a really good date flick if you're in need of one. I went out with a girl I met a few weeks ago and got ice cream, played frisbee in a park and then saw Toy Story. It felt like we were two kids again! Naturally things got less innocent later on, but it was a fun afternoon of being childish
Rainy day today, nice respite from the hot sticky weather we have had last couple days. I worry though, because my sweetie rode his motorbike to work today.
I agree with you two about this extended cut. When the announcement came down I felt like it was more like Standard+ as well. Hell, most of the concept decks are just decks that were popular during those last three/four blocks.
I'm sad to say it but I think this leaves draft as the only truly fun format left to play...

You change your sn a late.

I can see why they did it, it's just too big a cut.
I don't have any confirmation of the "overextended" format. No mention of what happened to that concept, but I don't think it's going to happen.
I'm sad to say it but I think this leaves draft as the only truly fun format left to play...
