I like his character on HIMYM and except for a reference in his recent SNL monologue about an ex girlfriend ... pretty sure he's gay right? I mean didn't he come out? I know he had an odd face when he was on Password with Regis and Regis made a comment about how the female contestant better watch out for Neil (insinuating sexual advances). Neil (or do we have to call him Neil Patrick?) looked kind of confused, like "Uh....I'm still gay right?"
Also did anyone see Daniel Radcliff on Conan O'Brien? Huh. I never thought he'd be attractive.
to All. I'm going to visit my sister in D.C. in April and we're going to drive to NY. Any recommendations for musicals/plays (and don't say Phantom of the Opera because I already know I hate that crap.)

Wicked, most definitely. Or Mamma Mia if you don't mind a couple hours of ABBA songs strung together to make a plot.
So, I just finished watching the first season of Veronica Mars last night (which was AWESOME!). So, in commemoration of the event, I decided to pay special tribute to one of it's cast members. Who? Is it Teddy Dunn as the mysterious ex-boyfriend Duncan Kane? Nah. Could it be Jason Dohring, the wise-cracking, but-deep-down-inside-really-sensitive Logan Echolls? Nope. Perhaps it's Percy Daggs as the never-failing sidekick Wallace Fennel. Strike three. No, my friends, it's time for yet another edition of Chicks I'd Totally Do, this time featuring the one and only...
Kristen Bell
Some highlights:
- Kristen has one increadible pair of... lungs. She has a great singing voice, something she's not afraid to demonstrate. She did so in an episode of Veronica Mars once, as well as the musical Reefer Madness (both the off-broadway premiere and film verson). Two such songs are Romeo and Juliet and Little Mary Sunshine. Hard to believe those are both from the same movie, eh?
- She lent her voice and likeness to Ubisoft's 2007 hit Assassin's Creed.
- This girl is tiny! At a mere 5'1", she's almost my hight! (Well, okay, she's got a good 8 inches on me, but still...)
- She has a tendency to get cast considerably younger than he real age, due to her small size and youthful features. Both Veronica Mars and Mary Lane (in Reefer Madness) are supposed to be high-school students, despite the fact she was about 24 at the time of their filmings. Commenting on the situation: "I'm carded for R-rated movies. And I get talked down to a lot. When I try to go rent a car or buy an airplane ticket or other stuff adults do, I get 'Okaaaaaay, honey.' I remember when I was 18, getting crayons in a restaurant."
But, enough talk. More hotness.
Why are you looking for him, Kristen? I'm right here...
Such a tease, you are.
C'mon... do I have to say it?
Oh, Kristen; you nerd is showing.
Umm... where was I?
Anyway, there you have it. I have now payed tribute to the "Three Sexiest People in the World (according to Howler)."
Oh KBell, lovably geeky. Though I'm actually more attracted to her character on VMars than her. I guess that means personality does count for something. Take that people who think I'm shallow!
On a related note, told you that you'd love season one.
Favorite episodes? Characters? Memorable snark from the marshmallow?
Also, catch up while you can. It may be a good idea.

I think Kristen has a great personality; quite different than Veronica's, but still very interesting. I haven't see too much of her stuff, but I'm working on it.
I never knew just how short she was until recently; they've always done a wonderful job of hiding that fact. I first noticed late in the season while she was making out with *secret*, I was thinking, "wow, they are really working hard to reach each other..." I think checked her IMDb page, and noticed the height. Three inches shorter, and I could claim her as one of "us."
On a related note, told you that you'd love season one.
Indeed you did, and I have no qualm with admitting you're right. Don't recall doubting you.
Favorite episodes? Characters? Memorable snark from the marshmallow?
I can't say there's one perticular episode that I loved, I really liked how the whole season worked out. Same with characters, actually. I really enjoyed how well they tied everything together. A character would show up and need V-Mars' help, and they wouldn't just dissappear after that episode, they kept re-appearing (usually with Veronica asking for their help). A glance as the IMDb page shows alot of them stick around for the later seasons as well (which I plan on picking up).
So much good snark. I'd have to re-watch the season and write down the stuff I liked, I never remember stuff the first time through.
I so badly want to ask who was at her door at the end of the season... I have suspisions, and really want to know if thye are right, but don't want anything spoiled before I watch the next season... So for now, don't tell me. But I reserve the right to change my mind.

I like that KBell is dorky and serious without taking herself seriously, but I absolutely loved Veronica's attitude. I think it's because she reminds me of a damaged me.
Oh, and check out Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Great movie. I'd skip her stink on Heroes, the writing for her character was so uneven that it utterly destroyed her.

Ha, just making sure.
I can't say there's one perticular episode that I loved, I really liked how the whole season worked out.
The season as a whole really flowed well as one, but I have so much love for the final run of episodes (the stolen parrot onward). Each one took a very important aspect of her life and really examined it. Best of all was the episode with her crusade to find her rapist. So perfectly satisfying. The biased flashbacks, the great use of so many tertiary characters, loads of red herrings, big development on the Lily arc and the progression of Veronica as a character. More than even the finale, it was the culmination of a season of tension and resentment.

That carries on throughout the series. Most characters don't fade, they become part of the daily chorus of high school life. And even if the background guys aren't focused on, they maintain their own character motivations and continuity. Some, like Mac, Dick, Beaver and Meg actually become even more important as time goes on.
So much good snark. I'd have to re-watch the season and write down the stuff I liked, I never remember stuff the first time through.
The very best, from when she first meets Troy while fixing a tire:
Troy: Flat?
Veronica: As God made me.
Gets me every time.
I so badly want to ask who was at her door at the end of the season... I have suspisions, and really want to know if thye are right, but don't want anything spoiled before I watch the next season... So for now, don't tell me. But I reserve the right to change my mind.
I won't ruin it. Though season two's premiere is action packed with information. It twists around and back on itself, taking your suspicions and assumptions and pushing them down.
I was on the comupter this morning, checking e-mail and whatnot, and my mom came into the room (had the day off work, MLKjr Day), sat down, and the conversation kinda went like this:
Her: "So I looked at our browsing history this morning."
Me: "..."
Her: "And I noticed you've visted some dating websites."
Me: "..."
Her: "And I noticed some of them were geared towards only men."
Me: "..."
Her: "..."
Me: "..."
After that, we had a discussion where I actually said words. I told her that wasn't the way I'd intended them to find out (they were actually the last ones I'd planned to tell). Her main concern was actually that I was being safe on there, the whole "online predators" thing. It was awkward, but it ended with a "we still love you, just want you to be happy, etc." kind of thing.
I'm actually kind of glad it's out there now (though like I said, not the way I wanted them to find out). I'm sure it came as a real shock, since as far as they knew, I was still dating Mary from work (still spend alot of time with her). Maybe my two recent "outings" (haha, pun) will give me the courage to tell my other friends.
I'm actually kind of glad it's out there now (though like I said, not the way I wanted them to find out).
I don't think it ever really happens the way you intend. Life has a way of completely bowling you over and laying to waste all of your plans. I for one never intended to tell my parents at all (odd considering my general outlook of honesty and disclosure, but I had the opinion then that my sex life was none of their business).
Though I'm not sure you could ask for more. You didn't have the anxiety just before telling them, they didn't react badly, they didn't even really make a huge deal out of it. That's awesome. I'm really happy for you.
Well, I'm glad your parents are supportive, Howler. It kind of reminds me of when my father in law stayed with my wife and I for a few weeks after we had surgery. She learned a great deal about her dad's personal life the first time she expanded the browser:o
Howler - I'm glad your parents are being supportive of you. It took awhile for mine to come around. But once you're out to a few people, there really does come a sense of inner strength and repose after you've "survived" the great unveiling. It's that way with all challenges passed, I guess.
*gives you a completely non-online-predator cyber hug*
Ratmage - Do I even want to ask?
In other news, it is midnight on my 27th birthday. I have not changed back into a pumpkin yet, so I guess things are good.

Happy birthday. My dad in law didn't have any tastes that were very exotic. He's a square, straight WASP and he watched square, straight WASP porn. Very disappointing. I thought about sneaking in a few more exotic searches and blaming them on him as a joke, but decided against it.
Though I'm not sure you could ask for more. You didn't have the anxiety just before telling them, they didn't react badly, they didn't even really make a huge deal out of it. That's awesome. I'm really happy for you.
Double word.
I'm thrilled to hear things went so well. And I have to give props to your mom. Not only did she react well, but she had the guts to be straighforward with you and lay it out on the table instead of putting it onto you.
I need a guy to interview...regarding adoptions by homosexuals.
This is for a report paper I'm doing.
Do you just need opinions, or are you looking for someone who has adopted/tried to adopt? Etc.?
Shame on me for not mentioning... Kirsten Bell is definitely a worthy CITD. I have yet to see any Veronica Mars so my only contact with her has (sadly) been Heroes, but I must say those pictures are quite...nice.

Well I've never had personal contact with the adoption process (the closest I've come is my cousing adopted two kids). But I'd be more than happy to talk about my opinions on the subject, if you want to PM me or set up a Yahoo chat time.

Nope. Actually, I haven't sampled a drop of liquor for about 6 months. Last couple times I did go out to the bars with friends I just hung out and sipped Pepsi.

Ew. That's a vile liquid. If it isn't alcohol I stick with water and juice. No other liquids touch these lips. Except for maybe the occasional Tea or Milkshake but those are fewer and farther between than days past.
I have loved that phrase since it was uttered by Bartleby in 1999.
Just get a great wingman.
