Huh. I loved it. I thought it was very fresh, the dialogue seemed very natural...the characters seemed real...I liked how you started off feeling sympathetic to Michael Cera's character, but towards the end, he's shown to be a lot less saintly than he originally came off as. All in all, an enjoyable movie in my eyes.
Just to clarify, Micheal Cera is Juno's boyfriend, not the husband. That's Jason Bateman. Bateman was good (and I wouldn't mind him as a HGotW), but I wan't a huge fan of Cera. I found him kinda annoying. Sarnath'd. Or however you spell that word.
I loathed Napolean Dynamite, and loved Juno... there was something self-conscious in ND that mocked the characters for being themselves, and that's not present in Juno. They poke fun at a lot of the characters, but even Vanessa, who seems at first to be a classic stereotypical suburban newlywed, has depth I didn't expect. There actually is a large group of trying-too-hard-to-be-indie movies that really annoy me... (Junebug and You Me and Everyone I Know jump to mind) Not that they aren't any good, they just feel hollow to me and don't ring true...
ND had it's moments of just weird humor (though some of the funniest scenes were deleted...). It was quirky and unique. But not a great movie by any stretch.
I just found the characters in Juno to be uninteresting. I found the boyfriend annoying. Some of the scenes between Juno and the adopting husband were good, but beyond that it was just tedious.

I thought Juno was really good. I think it fell into the "something different" category and I generally enjoy those types of movie. Plus Allison Janney was in it and I think everything she does is gold. Did anyone see Drop Dead Gorgeous? Her character in that movie, Loretta, was hilarious.
Yes! Drop Dead Gorgeous! I love that movie. It's one of my favourites, and I'm not quite sure why...
Drop Dead Gorgeous.
One of the best movies ever. Quite a classic.
@"Gay" interests: It's funny to think about it this way, but upon examination I believe some of my interests and behavior could easily be interpreted as "typically gay." I tend to enjoy musicals (at least most of them to enough of a degree that I could get a tune stuck in my head), for example, and I guess some of my other musical tastes are kinda that way. I can imagine people describing my behavior as as effeminately gay.
I don't really see if that way, though. It isn't of a stereotypical quality, anyway.
All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.

That movie just cracks me up every time I watch it.
As far as interests, I have the Chicago Soundtrack on my iPod. I frequently find myself signing alone to most of the songs on it, then looking around to see who is staring at me. Looking back I always enjoyed the movies that mother was drawn to, those romantic tragedies and comedies.
I sing aloud in public places constantly. Usually when walking places. I definitely attract my share of weird looks, because most of the songs I sing are both unfamiliar to anyone not majorly plugged in to Broadway culture (Sunday In The Park With George! The Last 5 Years! Nine! And many other strange Broadway shows), but because I can't sing most songs written for men (stupid ****ing tenors with their stupid high voices), which means I need to sing alto songs moved down an octave, which means a lot of them are romantic songs addressed to men. Which suits me fine, but is considered unusual by most of society.
I dunno if I have many "gay" interests. I like the old Hollywood musicals but don't care about seeing them on stage or their soundtracks at all. I do love electronic music though and alot of people consider that gay.
I am probably the least gay-acting gay person you will ever know. I hate most musicals, I despise pop music, I hate rainbows and the color pink, I don't give a hoot about fashion or clothing, I don't have a lisp (sterotypical, I know)... I think some of my friends will die of shock when I come out of the closet.

Even then, "gay-acting" tends to mean "twink-acting" when I've heard it used... some leather daddies are gay men too (not that all leather daddies necessarily hate all those things, but I imagine they tend to not be their favorite things in the world).
There are alot of gay men that aren't obviously gay. My good friend Justin is a very physical sort of fellow and so he's always holding someone's hand or putting his arm around your shoulder. As a result quite a few people thought he was my boyfriend. It doesn't help that he calls me Hon. He's happily engaged to a man so I'd hope people would have stopped speculating on our relationship.
I don't know how but I'm very psychic when it comes to him. I always know when he's nearby and even when he's about to call. Often I know what he's about to say as well. It used to creep him out but now he just tries harder to trick me. He's only snuck up on me once and that was because I was so stressed out that I'd closed myself off emotionally and probably psychically as well. By psychic I mean turned off my body's natural awareness of the energy of others.

One of my best friends is a lether daddy. He's a printer by trade and looks like he breaks people in half for fun. The first time I heard him talk I did a double take. He doesn't have the lisp, but I still had no doubt. The funny thing is when he gets into confrontations. The look of confusion on people's faces is great:rofl:
I'll jump into the 'not obviously gay' category. I've never been to a musical in my life, the most color in my wardrobe is a blue t-shirt, i'm a power metal ***** and my voice isn't so obviously gay. Still, being in a course where the majority of people are women, things are always wondered
Y'know what? My clothing is trendy, but I don't think it's over the top. My hai looks like I get out of bed, and go (Not far off the mark.) I missed several gay genes (cooking, neatness, decorating...)...aside from my music tastes, and the odd...ah...moment, I don't thing I'd stand out as gay all that much.
People in the past have been able to tell with me, but a lot of things have changed since then... and I certainly haven't heard any comments about it in a long time. But, a lot of that is not being in high school anymore.

I got... two gay genes. One, a love of musicals. Two, a love of men. Everything else of mine is terrible... cooking, fashion, interior design... oh well.
Oh, I guess most of my friends are female, so that is kinda gay.

Level 3 Magic Judge
Do you know any judges who always impress you with their work ethic, knowledge, or attitude? Nominate them to be the next Judge of the Week!
Well, not sure if I'll have a chance to do this in the morning... I'm sure it's the 11th somewhere.
To celebrate today (I'll get to that in a bit), I though I would post a new (though slightly... "unconventional") "Hot Guy of the Week." I proudly present to you...
Peter Dinklage
Some facts:
-Born in Morristown, New Jersey, but raised in Mendham Borough, NJ.
-Has been acting ever since his debut in Tom DiCillo's "Living In Oblivion" in 1995. Since then, he has racked up a filmography of over 2 dozen films, along with several appearances in various TV shows.
-His birthday is June 11th, 1969. He just turned 39 today (Happy Birthday, Pete! :toot:)
-Is a vegitarian.
-Oh, yeah. One more thing...
He's a Dwarf.
After his "breakout" role as Tito in "Living in Oblivion"...
Peter continued doing minor roles in independint films. It wasn't until 2003's "The Station Agent" that he really started getting noticed...
Since then, he's played such roles as Miles Finch, the children's author that beats the living snot out of Will Farrel in "Elf," Rowlie, the travelling showman in (yet another) "Lassie" movie, and Ben Klandis, the lead attorney along side Vin Deisel in "Find Me Guilty."
He also enjoyed a brief stint on the hit show Nip/Tuck...Nothing has ever made me want to be a woman more than that last picture...
-He's even played 2 gay characters! One as the wedding planner Benson Hedges in "The Baxter" (they don't say he's gay, but it's pretty obvious...) and in "Death at a Funeral" as Peter, the deceased's secret gay lover.
-He's currently scheduled to star in a film adaptation of Simon Mawer's novel "Mendel's Dwarf." If done faithfully, it should include at least one sex scene. Haaaaawwwt...
-Links! Here is a link to an interview with The Daily Show's Jon Stewart. It's a great little taste of his "quirky" personality. Here he gives a reading of "Note to Sixth-Grade Self"; it's great just listening to his voice. It's also funny hearing him mispronounce "maracas."
And now for some pictures of Peter as his hottest role: himself!
And there you go. THE hottest guy in the world. You can disagree with me, but you'd be wrong. Hope you enjoyed. I certainly did.
Of all the thing's he's been in, I think I've only seen him on Nip/Tuck and in Death at a Funeral (and DaaF is hilarious in a painful, drawn out, I-can't-believe-the-situation-just-got-worse kind of way :))
Oh, and he's definitely good looking.
