It seems very likely the fields of Spell Manipulation and Psycho-Delusional Wisdom will cease to be supported shortly; that's why Ejd is the Apprentice of Domination.
What do you guys think of my Standard concoction? It's not meant to win a PTQ (I won't rule it out, but it seems unlikely...), just to humiliate people at FNM.
With a 3 color list like that, I think a fourth treetop village might suite you better than one mutavault.
EDIT: Not to mention, your opponent's volcanic fallouts are pretty much a dead card against you, why give them a reason to actually one for one with it.
Ejd: The red splash in my Fae is for Magma Spray and Grixes Charm. Spray being obveous for spot removal. i tend to use charm for all three effects depending on whats needed. ive use to pump from it just to boot the token swarm in to win.
Rocker: Interesting deck you got going there. cant wait to see results.

Like I said, I talked to Weaver and he reaffirmed his wish to leave us.
Then surely he should be moved to the Portal. I may still be able to convince him of his return, but it won't be quick. Even then, we could just reestablish him as a High Mage (or at least an acolyte).
@Cam: What the ****, are you Izzet or just a hang-around?

I for one find it funny that the Izzet lose one of their high mages around the time when meddling mage was announced to be in ARB.
@ Ravus - Havent seen you in a while man, how are the douchewaffles hanging?
@AI - Lavalanche looks like the kind of card that has been needed in the meta since damnation rotated out, maybe now aggro will lose some of it's steam.
@ Psi - How are idea's for deckbuilding going? Any new standard/extended idea's? (now that some of ARB has been spoiled)
@ Auron - If they actually decide to bring back Spirit of the night, I for one would be one of the first kids on the block to own a playet, that card = nostalgia + 1.
It's cool that meddling is back, but when I think of how many low mana spot removal cards are in the meta right now, I'm sadly not too hopeful he'll live too long most times he hits play.

Actually, we'd lost Weaver long ago, it just hasn't been definitive until recently.

But I'm here to say that I will be incredibly busy for the next month or so with tennis season, work, IB exams, whatever, so if you want to bump me down to Apprentice of Spell Manipulation (the preferred option) or into the Erratic Portal (if you must), that'd be fine. I'll try to stop in once a week or so, but I can't make any promises. Who knows? I could be gone for an entire month again.
Whoa...Weaver is gone too? That's rough.

Idk 'bout that Angel. She still dies easily to a whole bunch of stuff. With a 3 butt and no "black can't touch me" clause, I'm sure she's gonna easily get whipped. Even bounce spells can ruin a good mana's worth of counter-investing. Besides, a bunch +1/+1 counters mean nothing if she doesn't have trample. A simple token generator that makes fliers (like that Dragon Broodmother) could easily keep that Angel at bay. All and all, I think Jenara is good (definitely a solid pick in a draft and a stong win condition in sealed), but she's not amazingly great or could even go above the limit in being a game-breaking bomb.
I tend to disagree. People are playing Rhox War Monk in Standard and Extended. While I prefer the Pancake Man to Jenara (partially due to her legendary status and partially due to his fat butt), they're both solid two/three drops.
It's cool that meddling is back, but when I think of how many low mana spot removal cards are in the meta right now, I'm sadly not too hopeful he'll live too long most times he hits play.
He will probably be better in Extended, locking out a lot of controlstrategies.

Yeah, but that's because of other stuff. I mean, c'mon, there's a significant difference between War monk and Jenara. First of all, Jenara doesn't have lifelink. Second of all, War Monk gets an extra +0/+1 unlike Jenara. For Jenara, in order to get itself to have that solid 4-butt that'll save it from these many-nowadays-3-point-burn-spells and also make it a solid linebacker on against those rampaging kird kitties, you're gonna have to spend 2 mana to for it. That's tempo loss right there. With War Monk, he's actually got potential to be a tempo-gain card because of the lifelink mechanic. Being able to provide a 6 lifeswing and also being able to soften the blows of aggro assaults really makes war monk a solid card to play in extended and standard.
Furthermore, because war monk requires no extra investment in power, having him killed by the oh-so-many-removals-there-are isn't so much of a consequence as having Jenara slain. If she is slain, then not only would you lose a power piece, you would also lose any investments in mana that you put into her which could have been spent in playing other spells, like that mana leak that would have countered that kill spell.
And to further add, I want to mention some key significances between the comparisons that some people have with Jenara to Figure of Destiny. Unlike Jenara, Figure of Destiny first comes down into play as useless but cheap. The fact that he is first a useless 1/1 makes him undesirable to kill lest your opponent is upgrading him on the stack. Killing him while he's a 1/1 would seem like a waste of a kill spell.
The fact that he is cheap also makes cases where bounce spells become less costly or severe for an investments on Figure of Destiny. By only spending one mana on Figure of Destiny, you have already made yourself then a good Isamaru, Hound of Konda. With Jenara, however, the cost is just slightly inflexible. If you stockpile a bunch of two mana investments in one turn, you leave yourself out on your defense, especially if you have an odd number of mana. Two mana is severe because, in actuality, it is very hard to make Jenara, in one turn, go from a 3/3 into a 5/5. If you did that, then that meant you tapped out 4 one-mana producing lands in one turn. That's two counter spells right there. That's two kill spells right there. That's 4 one drops right there. That, in of itself, is a lot by subtlety of tempo.
The thing with Figure of Destiny and Jenara is that you can get a lot more for what you play with Figure of Destiny in relationship with the cost that he has provided and suffer minimal consequences, You can't do the same with Jenara though. If you played Jenara as soon as you had 3 mana available and then tried pumping Jenara while she was attacking, and your opponent bounces her, you've thus then wasted 5 mana and roughly about 1.5 turns in tempo, development, and pressure.
Alright, I'm going to step in and give a judge's ruling: Ilvaldi wins solely on the fact that he's willing to type up a novel to tear apart one paragraph from AI. He might even have cited his sources (I wasn't paying such close attention/actually reading it ).
Finally, I prefer War-Monk as my three-drop Bant-duder of choice.
Edit: Oh, Ilvaldi, did I send you a PM that 'Darkness is back up (I've been a bit late with my response-time), sending you to the ZenExtendo over there? If not, yeah. That.
