And I just slept in. Whew. Still, Halloween was long and exhausting and I didn't have much to eat yesterday. Today is a day off, completely, and I am taking full advantage of that fact.
So....I've more or less vanished. I've found that there is a lot more to do in college than I expected. I haven't even touched a card since I've been here. I guess I just wanted to check in and see how everyone was doing.
Yeah, that's pretty much the experience I had when I got to actual college instead of community college. It was also tough for me to go to FNM when I didn't have a car. Good luck with it, though.
I would love to be the Joker for Halloween sometime! The problem is 1. I'm poor. 2. He's way too in style for my tastes. Maybe in the future, cause I can pull off a mean joker impression even without the facepaint.

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
I had an awesome Halloween this year. I got to walk around town for a bit and scare the Japanese folks who don't celebrate it, and then later went with one of our students and sang karaoke in costume.
Also its kinda funny you tell me some folk dont celebrate halloween when they already practice it like 24/7 with all the insane amount of cosplay they do :p.
But you should have dressed as Stein or Spirit

I actually didn't dress up for Halloween this year. I never came up with a good costume idea until like the 28th and by then, all of the stores were out of the materials I needed in order to make the costume proper. But as Chicago Cubs fans always say, "There's always next year."
So basically, I'm loving college life. There are some downsides, like I still miss my mom and dad and sister, and one of my suitemates is a total jackass, but aside from that I really love being here in Boston. The city itself is so great. Filled with great little restaurants and stores all of which are right next to national historical landmarks, its so weird. The other day I saw a marker for where Samuel Adams' house used to be, and it happened to be right in front of a Crate and Barrel, so yeah.

Sounds like some pretty awesome site scening in boston Evan. Also glad your doing well and yeah I miss my old highschool buddies as well too especially when I had to fly out to here(Las Vegas) from washington state so I know how that feels.
I have been doing well I just got up like 45 minutes ago from sleeping about 10 hours thanks to the day light savings time. I have been a closing 11pm to 11:30pm checker at the grocery store and then turning around and working 9:30am to 6pm yesterday. I have work off today and for the next two days so I am pretty happy about that.
Also awesome halloween pics and Mr. Stuff you look awesome.
Anyway I am off take care and have a good sunday everyone. Later all.
I had to go with what I had to work with... and all I found at the store was a grim reaper costume. I would have loved to go as Stein, though. Even though it'd take a lot of work to get the "giant screw through the head" thing right, it'd look awesome. Bonus points if you could actually turn it.
So, uh... I don't blog very often. When I do, it's usually because something really interesting or really important has happened. The last time I blogged, it was when I was really feeling down in the dumps, IIRC. This time, I'm happy to report, is different. Very different. Here it is, if you'd like to read it. Please leave me a comment, onegaishimasu~~!
@Evan: That's great! I remember my days at college very fondly. The only time in my life which I have enjoyed more is the time I'm spending in Japan right now. College is a great place to meet people and make connections which last for a very long time. All of my college friends still get together, even the ones that have graduated, and we treat each other like one big, admittedly very odd family. I wish you luck in finding a group of people that share some or all of your interests.
At least tell me you randomly karate chopped people while screaming Shinigami Chop!
Maybe when my kids get bigger and start going to those chaperoned halloween parties ill start dressing up again maybe ill try for Stein then just for the "old foggy" vibe that would give me with the kids
As for the blog entry i noticed you blogging earlier actually, but i didnt see the post yet, ill check it out now
Offtopic: I was about to say goodevening in japanese, but the term just pooffed out of my head and got replaced by "Paya Paya" because i just spent the whole day catching up on R+V Capu2.... which by the way has the best Opening for an ecchi anime

Ugh, Boston.... But seriously, that's cool that you're doing well. Where are you going again? I have a friend at Tufts and a friend at Wellesley (which I think is all girls actually).
I'm feeling the same way. College life is so fun. My floor is so close, it's awesome. We pretty much do everything together, and all of them are so cool. The other night we spent like 3 hours just talking about really deep stuff in our lives, something that I've never really done before. It was such a cool experience, and probably one of my best nights so far this year. I feel like I already have better friends in college after 7 weeks than I did in high school after 4 years.
So for Halloween, I dressed up as Stuart from MadTV. If you don't know who he is, just look up "Stuart MadTV" on YouTube and he'll show up. It's the funniest skit ever. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures, but it was a pretty good costume.
Well i already commented on it in your blog but I'll say it here too! Congrats my friend! That's great that you got that stuff taken care of enough to feel that immense sense of accomplishment
Now I just really need to do my laundry really badly lol.
Things are really pretty stressful right now.. i don't have any money since my job doesn't pay me enough... and i'm upset with my dad since he didn't call me on my birthday, which wasn't so bad since when i called him, he said he didn't forget just thought that I'd get the card in time (which I didn't, until a week later) and THEN the very next day, he calls my mom and says HE'S upset with ME since the only time i ever call him is to ask for money and that I didn't go about doing unemployment like he had asked me to (I did try for the record and it wouldn'twork since i'm somewhat employed at B&N) and what makes me mad is that he called my MOM to tell her to talk to me about it...... yes, my mom and I talk more often, BECAUSE SHE CALLS ME. I don't practically ever call her! So, when my dad NEVER calls me, what do you think? I'm not going to call him since I never call anybody.. I always use that phone for talkign to my family and talking to Brad, that's IT. So now, its like.. I really need money since I'm overdrafting my bank account... Fortunately i have a line of credit attached to it, which is good, but still..... so now that I got mad that he got my mom involved instead of just freaking calling me himself, now I feel like what do I do? I need money, but his chief complaint is that I'm not trying etc etc and that I only call him when i need money, but its like.... gah.. I need money, but I"m also upset with him for making such a big dael of it ... Why would he involve my mom in it? They're not even married anymore! Cuz she would get the message to me? Well, not if you don't even try to call me yourself! The DAY after he "forgets" my birthday............ *steaming*
YOU'RE steaming... my LCD monitor just died. It comes on for a split second, then blacks out. Means the backlight is shot or there's some overheated wiring or whatnot. Means I have to borrow money from my parents to buy a new one, and that won't be for 10 days. I'm posting from my parents' computer which they only use half of the time.
Plus I'm broke enough as is. I'm gonna HAVE to sell my Ravnica dual lands at this rate.
edit: Here it is. If you guys wanna be generous, you should buy them. You might get an added bonus.

Let me know if you don't get any bites at those prices, Alacar. It'd be kinda painful to drop that kind of cash on Magic right now, but I might be able to help you out.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
Well, ya gotta cut the price back a bit for the bulk rate. I would've preferred the full $290 but I think I'll manage. I should be able to nab a $150 19" flatscreen at Best Buy.
Heck, I might even send that Kraj your way just for giggles
Now that I've got that out of the way, here's my $0.02.
About the job thing: The first order of business is stressing to your management how crucial it is that you get more hours. Let them know that expenses are quickly adding up to more than your income and that you will have no choice but to leave them if they can't provide you with what you need. If they are understanding, then hopefully you can get the necessary money. If not, then it shows you how little they value you as an employee and thus will free you to go searching for a new job.
As someone who is also searching for a new job, you should start to check out some employment agencies. Sometimes they can fit you in with some temp work that may even lead to some long-term career options. Just make sure to have your resume updated and bring it everywhere you go (in your book bag :glee:) and drop it off wherever you see a 'help wanted' sign. Oh, and dress well for the interview
As for the issues with the father, you really need to stop beating yourself up about it. if you want to mend the relationship for more reasons than just to borrow money from him, then do your best to open lines of communication with him once more.
There's nothing worse than having your parents arguing about you without actually asking you for input. Dial up a 3-way call and talk to both your mother and your father. Trust me, no matter how heated it gets, one person will always be able to act as a mediator.
And again... * PurpleD huggles
@ Alacar; it's good to hear that you're able to get a monitor again! I don't want to sound like your mother, but maybe it's time to start looking for employment? Even if it's just a single evening/weekend shift, $80/week is better than nothing.
On the topic of my own life, things have been rather nuts. My mother has told me that I have to move out by January 1 2009. Honestly, I'm happy to be getting away but not happy at how much it'll cost me. The entire purpose of me taking a year off after graduating high school was so that I could save money for university. Living on my own will make it so that I can save at most $500/month, making me feel as though I've wasted my entire year. Truthfully, I can't ****ing stand my mother.
Oh well... at least I have LittleBigPlanet to cheer me up.
Don't worry that much. That's life, its bound to stink at one point or another. Best thing to do is straighten out stuff with your papa.
And in other news...does anyone know where I can get a good old Photoshop tutorial? Unless someone out there is willing enough to train a noob like me.
Wasn't it Orson Welles who broadcast and interpretation of H.G. Wells' novel?
I don't know why I'm asking, I checked the Wikipedia article you linked to to make sure that was the case.
Yeah, that's pretty much the experience I had when I got to actual college instead of community college. It was also tough for me to go to FNM when I didn't have a car. Good luck with it, though.
