Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, all that seems like just so much more work. I already have Carpal Tunnel from IRC. And Skype did something to my memory swap file that I had to undo with a clean windows install.
Counting down until the next round of coffees on the 'House...
Meanwhile I'm studying for finals. I had a practical final today that seemed *crosses all fingers multiple times, so they're like, braided* to go well.
Friday is another big exam, and then Monday.
Last weekend, I was giving my cat some medicine, and she bit me. Apparently she doesn't like medicine. Who would have guessed? The finger she bit bled and bled. I cleaned it as best I could with soap, water, and then peroxide. But now it's lookin a little puffy and red, not so much I can't type (obv) but there is a huge infection risk with animal bites. I've been putting it off, since the finger isn't falling off (yet) but I may go into the doctors office tomorrow first thing. I have no insurance and have ot pay for everything out of my dwindling savings. I suppose a finger is worth saving even if it costs me a couple benjamins. (I honestly don't know who it is on the Canadian $100 bill, but I know it's not Franklin)
That sucks snoop I hope it feels better soon. *hugs*
Good to see you again VSA and hope everything is going well for you.
On other news, I just got back from another exhausting and long day at school. Probably going to take a shower here soon and then probably do a bit more of studying before bed time. Kinda nervous about my two tests next week but oh well I'll do some major studying this weekend so then I won't be as nervous about them. Have a good night everyone. Later all.
Good luck with that, Snoop! Hope the finger is okay..
Here I am at work, just relaxing and ready to get my day started... got work to do before my 9am meeting and then another meeting at 10:30, then lunchish, then working on miscellaneous stuff until 4:30, when there's another evening meeting that lasts until 7:30... normally this meeting lasts until 6:30, but they added an extra hour to give them more time to discuss... so yeah.. anyway i haven't had anything caffeinated yet today, so I'm going to go get some hot tea, and nibble on my clif bar while I check my work email and get things settled for the day
Kraj , i remember seeing that somewhere but I can't remember where for the life of me.. can you link to me again? Sorry!
Hahaha to Snoop and Alacar, so true... I'm doing some things over here, just got done with my two morning meetings, and now going to do some work on the evaluation chart, and edit this month's newsletter, plus work on the discussion topics for Friday's meeting...
Today during lunch, Brad is running over to RIT's campus to pick up tickets for Marlee Matlin's presentation on Sunday night.. I just bought her book, so I'm going to be getting it signed after the presentation, so I'm super-excited about it Brad has also now read her book, as have I, so we're both excited about the presentation
Facebook is still pretty cool, and I like it... you should get back on Facebook, Psi
How's everyone doing? I cannot wait for this day to be over... trying to decide whether I want to go to Buffalo Wild Wings tonight or something entirely different.....We were going to go straight back to Brad's place and help him organize his books, which we still want to do, but a bunch of his friends are going to BW3 tonight, so... I just don't know if I feel like going out for wings.... I feel like going out, but wings? Not sure.. lol.. I don't know.
And I'm also just trying to stay focused.. which isn't working too well.. .lol..
I am doing fine here just been studying here and there.
Buffalo Wild wings sounds awesome right now I always love eating spicy food. Wait you mean you actually have a place called Buffalo Wild wings over there!? That's some awesome tech right there and I don't mean magic the gathering. I love their bleu cheese bacon cheeseburger and of course they have like 20 flavor wild wing hot sauces assuming if we are talking about the same place.

Goodluck with your exams and I hope you do well on them.
I beat both Mono White Stax(which supposely should be a hard matchup for any control deck) 2-0 and white weenie with aether vials 2-1 with the deck. Mulldrifter is awesome against everything except humility. Back to basics is still broken since everyone still plays 4 color countertop decks and ancestral vision is like awesome. Considering playing ancestral vision on turn 1 is actually kinda close to playing standstill on turn 2. Cunning wish can be rediculously hard to play in legacy but it still has its utility in the format. Overall, the deck is a blast to play. Of course, since the environment has gotten pretty enchantment/artifact heavy cunning wish for dismantling blow is one of my most favorite plays for the deck. Especially when you can draw two cards off of dismantling blow.
Interesting ASL video channel.. I've seen better ones though... and yep, Kevin, the Buffalo Wild Wings they have here is the same one they seem to have there, that you've been to, its a great place to eat!

is a favorite, and they're clearly all Deaf, whereas the guy from the channel you showed me (though hot) was definitely hearing. Nothing wrong with that, but being Deaf myself, I can easily identify if someone's hearing or deaf and the smoothness of their signs oftentimes gives that away.
That's actually Ryan, Arguas2617, the co-founder of this overclan if you didn't know You may have seen that one before.
There's others, but I need to watch them to find out which are the best ones.. some really stink... some are good quality.. need to find the good ones..
Thank you much ^_^, and yes they are yummy indeed :D.
I will be going again here in a few hours, hopefully today has the same or better results ;).
Looks oddly familiar ;).
Nice decklist Cecilia :).
Yep fish tastes awesome. I am a seafood lover for sure.
Hehe, yeah I remember your landstill cunning build that deck took alot of skill to pilot correctly but it seemed like a pretty good decklist. I always felt that if it's in the hands of a compotent control player the player should be able to get to the top tables and shread those top tables with relative ease. Besides I was able to beat threshold and goblins when I played with your list. I had to play extremely tightly to win those matchups but I never had a problem with that.
Also, glad you like the decklist Psi.
In other news I have been working on another Threshold deck for Legacy which has a good game against the mirror and other decks that have been popular as of late. So overall yeah it has been testing pretty well. However, I have been thinking of using at least 2 gaddock teegs in the sideboard against Landstill since it shuts off their humility, wrath of gods, and engineered explosives. They also can be fairly good against AD Nauseam Tendrils.
Looks like the Coffeehouse is 3 years old today, unless I'm mistaken (not uncommon).
Anyway, seems like as good a time as any to stop in and chat. I'm out of work right now, so I've got too much free time to spend and nowhere to go.
So I'm Lex Icon, at least online. Been playing Magic since the tail end of Urza's block, though I really got going in Odyssey. Dropped out for Mirrodin thru Future Sight, and now I'm back and very in to catching up with all the cool stuff I've missed.
I'm also a huge coffee snob, having worked in coffee for a few years prior. Grind all my own beans, buy only fresh organic, ect.
Just to stay on topic: Cecilia, what's the gameplan vs. Aether vial Goblins/Folk with that Threshold deck? I'm pretty inexperienced with Legacy, so sometimes the tactics fly under my radar.
Reflecting Pool: You know, technically, I *CAN* make any color of mana.
Exotic Orchard: Prove it. Do it right now.
Reflecting Pool: Well, not right now. I need some condi....
Exotic Orchard: LIES. GO DIE IN A FIRE.

First off welcome to the coffeehouse.
It's cool LexIcon. I tend to like to educate anyone that's interested in learning more about Legacy. Also, your welcome to talk about anything in here.
Goblins is a fairly winnable matchup for white threshold especially with vedalken shackles and hydroblasts. Although it's still not cake walk for white threshold by any means. However, yeah getting rid of vial as soon as possible would be a good idea. Merfolks can actually be signficantly harder because they run 8 lords and islandwalk along with vials hurts alot. Again shackles would probably be your best bet there but its a rough matchup for threshold. That's why one of my tournament choices right now is red threshold because of pyroclasm and red elemental blasts. Of course you can also throw in hydroblasts in the sideboard too. I actually resorted back to mostly red threshold and stopped playing landstill for awhile because of the large increase in goblins and merfolks lately and by far Red threshold has an much better matchup against those two decks then any landstill deck. I also had some success with landstill in the past so it pains me to say that landstill isn't as good as it used to be.
For reference here is what I have been testing as far as Red threshold goes its been testing well against other counterbalance decks while still have a fairly good game against storm combo and of course tribal decks. I am still trying to figure out some of the tweeks for the deck since I feel it can still be adjusted.
Awwwwww, man. That means in the morning for me. Seeing as how it is now *checks* 1:48 in the morning, chances of me being awake in anything less than ten hours are slim to none.
Oh well. I got to be one of the first ones on the special occasions thread.
Speaking of the occasion, I would like to propose a trip down memory lane, of sorts. I think, if we can still find them, we should go back and re-copy-paste-quote-whatever our first posts here, the very first thing we all posted in the C-House, and all reminisce and feel groovy and what have you. Maybe that's just me being silly, but it seems fun. Personally, things have changed quite a lot for me since I first joined. I've had adventures I never dreamed of at the time, and learned much more than I ever thought I'd learn about life. As do so many occasions, it reminds me of a song.
This time I'll be reviewing over one of my friend's decks that he just threw together before the tournament and that I helped him test. When I first started to test the build I thought it was a pretty good build and it was alot of fun too.
It was quite impressive that he was one game win short of making top 8 at this mox sapphire Legacy tournament. With a few adjustments like having an diabolic edict in the sideboard my friend would of beaten Dave Caplan(the co-creator of Canadian Threshold) before the cut to the top 8. My friend won the first game on the back of back to basics and he ended up echoing truth both of his goyfs in play. It was pure sweetness. But yeah my friend was one game win away from making top 8 out of 46 players just yesterday.
Now to go over some card choices.
Ancestral Visions: Really good card drawer in the late game and can be handy in the mid game as well.
Fact or fiction: Still a card draw spell to be reckoned with in Legacy and it quickly turns the tables in favor of the caster once it has resolved.
Cunning Wish: One of the deck's main focal points. When the game is on the line Cunning Wish usually saves the day if you play it right.
Vedalken Shackles: With all of those tribal decks running rampant these days shackles is one of your best friends in this format.
Back to basics: This card steals games on it's own and most people won't expect this card when it hits. Back to basics takes alot of skill to play correctly though especially with everyone running Krosan Grip these days.
Engineered explosives: Great card in the format as always.
Mulldrifter: People seem to underestimate Mulldrifter alot in the format but drifter's role can be immeasurable alot of the time. I find mulldrifter to be quite good in testing and my friend in the past took an UW control with mulldrifters to a top 8 finish out of 47 player legacy tournament as well.
Morphling: Superman is always good in here no doubt about it.
Call the Skybreaker: A decree of justice like card on it's own in the late game.
Some Matchup Analysis:
Canadian Threshold: A good matchup for MUC /cunning wish. Shackles becomes huge here and so is back to basics. In games 2 and 3 though Cunning Wish becomes one of the prime examples of greatness because of it's versatility of fetching for any instant you want at the time. With all of the power draw in this deck the deck can actually win against aggro-control decks.
Goblins: A pretty hard matchup for mono blue control but as long as you play tightly and have shackles readily out this matchup can be winnable. Still a rough matchup for you though but having a few blue blasts in the board does help drastically. Usually the more skilled/more prepared player wins this matchup.
Merfolks: Another rough matchup for you but again vedalken shackles helps you win majority of your matchups. Also don't forget about the power of Engineered explosives in this matchup. Cunning wish for Tsabo's decree also helps as well. Even if it's a tough matchup it's still a possible matchup where you can get into a good position to win.
Against other counterspell type decks: Your generally favored because of cunning wish and additional countermagic in this deck.
Against general aggro: You should be able to win against aggro most of the time on the back of shackles but that still can be hard especially if you don't draw much counterspells to begin with.
Against storm combo: Seems like another hard matchup for you but it's definitely another winnable matchup. Your countermagic becomes prime here but an additional creatures for a clock would be nice in this matchup. Ah well can't win them all.
I think that's it for now. I would type more but I don't have that much time today. However, stay tuned until next time for another Legacy of the week!
No real news here, doing homework and studing for two midterms this week. Planning to take the Friday off, hang out with friends, then hit up the prerelease. I am loving the new set. The mythics really seem powerful, and there's a lot of fun stuff, like Mayel's Aria and cascade.
Hey everyone I'm about 26 minutes too late, but I figured I would stop in and say happy 3 years to the coffeehouse I apologize for showing up a bit late to the party.
I see Omna is still spreading around my signing :-p That video wasn't the best translation of the song, and I got better at it shortly after that recording. It wasn't actually taped, though, so I wasn't able to update it or anything.
LexIcon seems to have picked a good time to come in and say hi to everyone, based on the timing and the meaningfulness to the house
I have to ask, Mr. Stuff, have you ever heard of a game called Billy vs. Snakeman? Actually, any anime fans here in particular heard of it?
Wow, Cecilia, you're still doing legacy of the week? It's back again, and that is actually really kind of cool I'm glad you're still doing what you enjoy most I find the Call the Skybreaker to be an interesting alternative win cond... it's not quite as quick as Decree though in an equivalent deck, but it is a win condition that is hard to deal with. Granted, I don't play legacy myself, but I've been researching it a bit recently, simply because of the fact that the convention I'm running is likely going to be having a legacy tournament, and at the very least, I need to make sure decent prizes are available. At this point, it's looking like a set of duals, forces, and Tarmogoyfs.
Although... the turnout seems a little less than I expected? Oh well, still good to drop by again

Hey Ryan good to see you! Also yes its good to see you drop by here as well. Yep I am still doing legacy of the weeks although not as nearly as often as I did when I wanted the Legacy strategist award.
Yeah agreed there about skybreaker I still think decree is faster so your right.
Dfiltrator: Good to see you drop by as well.
Anyway, I need to head to bed here soon have a goodnight everyone. Later all.

Love,
Cecilia
Hello and welcome, LexIcon!
No real news here, doing homework and studing for two midterms this week. Planning to take the Friday off, hang out with friends, then hit up the prerelease. I am loving the new set. The mythics really seem powerful, and there's a lot of fun stuff, like Mayel's Aria and cascade.
