well the game is all about summoning your alternate persona, which help you in battle.. they're kind of like a spirit that helps you out when you call them.. and the way you call them is by pointing a gun-shaped device (called an "evoker") at your head and pulling the trigger.....
EDIT: and yes, Allin, the game is very good I am enjoying it quite a bit
I agree with the statement, FMA is definitely one of the better overhyped anime as it not only pertains to the modern world, but does so with a good plot, interesting characters, interesting abilities, and without power creep. But then again, for shows like DBZ, Yuyu Hakusho, Naruto, and Bleach the very reason I like those shows is because of the power creep, and well to see what new and different abilities are gained or shown to have. I love abilities. Yes I am weird like that. At least I didn't like Ninja Scroll for the plot...
Finally @Alacar: You haven't seen anything until you've seen 5 400-500 lbs. guys dress up as the Sailor Scouts, short skirts and all.
FMA had many special abilities without that horrible power creep. Though I loved Yuyu Hakusho and Bleach. Eventually it just becomes too crazy.
And why would you ever want to see that?! No, better question, why the hell would that even exist in the first place
And why would you ever want to see that?! No, better question, why the hell would that even exist in the first place
Yeah FMA has a lot of cool abilities, but I still can't decide if I like the anime and movie better or the manga. Plus I love how all the homunculus are named after one of the deadly sins.
Honestly that is not the worst thing I have seen. And the only reason to see it is so that you can one up your friends in most disturbing image conversations.
Another funny 500 lbs. story:
So me and my friends are at Denny's around midnight and the like 500 lbs. guy comes in and sits at a table next to us. When the waitress comes to take his order, he says in a very high and squeaky voice:
"Yes, I would like a grand slam breakfast, with a side of a grand slam breakfast, a pitcher of chocolate shake, and a diet coke."
What made it so perfect was after all that he ordered a diet coke. It took all we had not to burst out laughing right there in Denny's. Ah, good times.
It is time for another Legacy of the week! Man I can't just stop doing these of course I find them enjoyable to type up for some reason besides the only place I can do these is here the coffeehouse which is like the coolest place on salvation.
I have been successful with Counterbalance threshold with black/white in playtesting. There has been a ton of threshold variants with thoughtseize and they have been strong tournament choices across various metagames. I would even go as far as saying that splashing black just for thoughtseize is a well worth splash in itself. Thoughtseize greatly impoves a ton of matchups and it just makes counterbalance that more relevant.
Historically an aggro-control shell pertaining to counterbalance w/ top has been putting up the best results in many different legacy related environments. Therefore, Counterbalance thresh has probably been something like one of the most consistent decks in the format. However, there is no universally accepted list because obviously different metagames can effect the card choices in these builds.
Here is the deck I would like to review for legacy of the week.
This matchup can be rough preboard but still winnable. It will be a good idea to establish counterbalance and top early. While having a quick beatdown with nimble mongoose and tarmogoyfs should also be efficient as well. Postboard gets better because of your graveyard hate and the ability to counter those game breaking cards such as devastating dreams, countryside crusher, and burning wish with hydroblast/BEB.
ANT and/or similar Tendril Combo:
Should be a highly favored matchup for you. You have thoughtseize, counterbalance, daze, and force of will as well as an actual clock to bring the win to you. Postboard will even be better Gaddock virtually shuts off the primary spells like Ad Nauseam, Tendrils of Agony, and even Empty the warrens if they run it. However if they run burning wish boarding in Blue blasts seems efficient as well.
Ichorid:
This is actually a close to impossible matchup overall both preboard and post. Your better off running something like 4 leyline of the voids and 4 Tormod's crypts if you want a chance to consistently beat Ichorid. However in most environments Ichorid has still been a small portion of metagames so dedicating 8 sideboard slots against it isn't really all that necassary. Ichorid doesn't really care about counterbalance and they can get a much faster start then you with quick outlets such as LED, Breakthrough, and others. Thoughtseize can actually be strong in this matchup assuming your on the play at the start. Postboard can get much easier depending if you draw your graveyard hate. You also have a efficient clock so that always helps as well against any combo deck in legacy.
Threshold Mirror:
Thoughtseize and counterbalance are some of your main outs in the mirror. I prefer establishing a early countertop which will help immensely in this matchup. Postboard gets better with the obvious Krosan Grip and Mystic Enforcer can potentially break classified stalemates.
Tempo thrash:
Obviously counterbalance is the real deal in this matchup as well. You also have several cantrips to help establish an well-rounded manabase even in the face of stifle and wastelands. Swords to plowshares and thoughtseize can also generate virtual card advantage in this matchup too.
Goblins:
This matchup can go either way especially preboard. It should be efficient if you can get an early beatdown with tarmogoyfs and also mongeese. Counterbalance won't be as nearly as good in this matchup either. Postboard obviously gets better since you can board out counterbalance for blue blasts which is sufficient when dealing with multiple warchiefs and lackeys.
Goyf Sligh:
Establishing an early rush of threats while getting an countertop going can help immensely in this matchup. Postboard obviously gets much better with 5 blue blasts basically.
Team America:
Another favorable matchup. You can simply outplay them with an early counterbalance. As well as you run more threats then they do and swords to plowshares and thoughtseize will also be amazing in this matchup. Their land destruction suite is actually not that much of an issue with the many cantrips this deck has to filter unwanted cards as well as making precision land drops when needed.
I hope you all enjoyed this week's legacy of the week stay tuned until next time!
Watch it. Right now. Your life has not yet been fulfilled.
And memorize the dance. That's very important. E's Otherwise...is that the entire name?
I will watch it over my four month break before Japan.
And yes the anime is called E's Otherwise, while the manga is just called E's. It is a pretty good anime about Psychics and an organization that's goal is supposedly to "save" them from normal peaple.
... I've actually been playing Persona 3 FES quite a bit, and its quite enjoyable,...
I LOVE P3! I played it last summer for something like 20 hours and almost beat it before getting completely stuck on one boss that was damned near impossible to beat. I'm not sure if you've reached it, but it's on the 140-something floor of Tartarus and it uses ridiculous ultima attacks that you can't do anything to prevent.
So a few months ago I picked it up again and did some level grinding and FINALLY finished it. The game is amazing with a wicked cast of characters, interesting storyline, cool concepts and one of the best soundtracks I've ever come across.
And congrats about the job! It sounds like a position where you can enjoy yourself as well as learning new things while making money. I'm very happy for you and I hope that all the training/transition goes well for you!
As for me, I'm still looking for a job. It's irritating how difficult it is to find something that's not in the fast food industry and as the deadline for moving out approaches (Jan.1 2009) I'm starting to panic a little bit. Hopefully something comes up soon because I'll need some extra cash for Christmas, too. *sigh*
Naw. Fail is at the other end of the anime spectrum, when you've seen far too much and you're still chewing Pocky and lamenting the roundness of your eyes.
As for me.. I just had the most awesome time at Wal-Mart.. with my new girlfriend. Yeah.. you heard me.
girlfriend!? I knew something was going on, but..... lol
I will echo Psi's statement here and say, more details please sir!
Ok just had the laziest Sunday I've had in a while... Now I've played over 17 hours of Persona 3 (was about 11 or 12 when I woke up this morning lol).. it is getting harder though... And no, PurpleD, I haven't encountered that boss yet... methinks I should levelgrind for a little while first, since I'm starting to have difficulty on the higher levels... I just got past the second full moon..
EDIT: I'm surprised i"m talking about this more here than in N20 but I tried to talk about it there, nobody bit tho..
So yeah, Brad just left around 12:30, and he spent most of the day here....we didn't really do much this weekend, besides play Persona 3 and chill on my futon (which we dragged in front of the TV so we could both lay on it and veg while I played Persona 3 and he browsed SomethingAwful forums lol
But tomorrow I have work, and so does he.. I have work from 3-9:30 and then I'm off Tuesday, but Tuesday is my interview at 4pm... I'm nervous and excited bout that at the same time
Nice and congrats on the gf Alacar I think that's funny how you said you had a wonderful time at Wal-Mart with your girlfriend after saying that you didn't like working there. But there is a big difference between actually working there and just going there for shopping.
I actually never played persona 3 I only played the very first one and I didn't really like it that much. But persona 3 looks promising though at least.
Anyway I am off to play some Lost Oddsessy well maybe and probably going to head to sleep in like an a couple of hours or so. Have a good one everyone.
Hahahahahahahahhahahahahhaahhahahahahahaha... that is sooooooo true, about Alacar's previously working there.. I had totally forgotten about that... hilarious
Ok I'm off to bed, folks.. tomorrow I've got work from 3-9:30....
EDIT: And oooooooh who's gonna get the 1,300th post ?
Nice and congrats on the gf Alacar I think that's funny how you said you had a wonderful time at Wal-Mart with your girlfriend after saying that you didn't like working there. But there is a big difference between actually working there and just going there for shopping.

Gosh. Maybe I should elaborate a little bit. I was invited along on a shopping trip to Wal-Mart by my girlfriend! Initially she was all hyper and I was kinda tame, but then I got all crazy and we had a lot of fun. I'm in love. I don't want to go into a lot of details but she's a total geek and she's only 8 minutes from my house. It's fantastic.
And yes, it's a lot more fun to tag along with nothing to buy at Wal-Mart than it is to shop there or definitely work there.

I used to be one of those fans who thought it was terrible but still liked it and had no idea why....
I still watch it from time to time, I must admit...
But the whole name thing is a non-issue IMO. I don't think it really matters as much as the writing. Which sucks. What's my point again?
Thanks to the [Æther] shop for the sig!
Honestly I just watch Naruto for the jutsu.
Wait, I don't.
How do people feel about harems...?
Yeah, more or less.
Actually.... more.
Thanks to the [Æther] shop for the sig!

Ahhh Anime, Ive gotten into expanding what anime I watch recently...I dont think theres any I dont like, but some favorites are:
Haruhi, Inuyasha, Yu Yu hakusho, and Bleach :).
You know for how much its hyped I've never seen Haruhi... hmm, I guess I know what the next anime I am probably going to get it.
Random Anime you should watch: E's Otherwise
Watch it. Right now. Your life has not yet been fulfilled.

You fail. Haruhi is even more hyped than Naruto, and even worse than Naruto (I've watched both).
Fan service in it's finest, thats it.
Naruto is absolutely horrible. I can't believe you just said that it's better than Haruhi. O...the pain...
My soul just got ripped apart in one statement.
I believe I fail.
