Glad you guys are interested in the Mafia Contest, we'd like to get 13 clans in, so every entry is important.

Looks like it. The game seems interesting, but I would rather not represent the clan without any experience. If we desperately need someone, I can do it but I would rather do a test run first.

I'm not gonna join the mafia game either, as I've been busy with life lately. Could be getting a new job soon and I'm working on getting my license before the year ends.

How did you afford all that stuff in your loam deck oni?

Umm, It is to me. I've never owned a dual land in my life and all my decks are usually super cheap decks compared to most.

Also, I've only ever had two shocklands and I've never had a fetchland.

I figured I'd get some conversation going again on the Grixis control idea, since its Grixis week at Mtg.com and such.

EDIT: Just got back from class and have been thinking about this list. Agony Warp needs a home in here somewhere. Also, if we want to focus on resolving our Unholy Grail like Toast does, we need more blue for counter magic. The Command is good, but we also need to add Broken Ambitions, Negate?, Remove Soul?, Dream Fracture has seen occasional play in places. Another possibility for sideboard or whatever (depends on how the meta shapes out) is Murderous Redcap. We can also use Bitterblossom + Loxodon Warhammer for some life gain if its needed. Warhammer can get real nice if we go with this evoke theme, we can swarm with that. Beseech the Queen is also an option. One card I didn't include in the original rough draft that NEEDS to be in there is Profane Command

If we want to get real tech with the Mannequin/Evoke/Unearth theme, we can use Turn to Mist to save our evokies after we unearth them, but that seems a tad overkill.

No problem, although if you have time you might want to center the pic as well as Svogthir's name. Nothing wrong with giving our former evincar a little extra attention, but it does look neater.

@ Sir Auron25: Looks really good. I admit, I wasn't too keen on replacing Mono black with an additional two colors, but Cruel Ultimatum alone is a power house. Thank God Nicol Bolas the original ultimatum is also the best one.

Pardon me for saying this, but the opening post looks awful :P. The Necropotence picture is great, perhaps you should centralise it and add some underline/bold/colour to the text.

I still wish to be a part of the clan, but I can't say that I will be active or anything, considering that I have my finals coming up in two weeks time and that I don't really play Magic any more.

So, we are without Oni and Valentine for 1-2 weeks, awesome. This thread is probably going to be pretty boring in that span..

Wow. This is almost rediculous. Two clan members, one being the Evincar, suspended. It really doesn't make us look like the nicest clan.

Well then, onto business. As Vice-Evincar, I'll take over until valentine gets back, not like there is much to do.

As for you, BeingHumanBeing, it seems you have been listed as a pending member. I am assuming this is because you were an old active member gone MIA for a while, and now your back. If that's the case, just keep posting and when valentine gets back, I'll make sure he adds you to the active member list.

And you are right, the first post isnt the most appealing to the eye. I'll mention it to him. I also think I should have a title, since I am the VP, which in this situation, makes me glad we created the position.

And just to spur conversation, how has everyone been? Anyything fun happen in your lives you want to share?

My weekend was terrible. I thought I had scratched my guitar, but it turns out it is actually a nice crack in the body. It turns out that I can save the body, but still, it made me sad. How about you guys?

We're clan Mono-Black, we don't need to be nice. The nice is just a face paint until we can corrupt the world.

My life can be summed up in two words right now: School and girl trouble. Okay, that's three. Whatever. School's alright, though it's sucking most of my attention from more enjoyable activities. I'm not willing to share my personal life online. Sorry, life sucks that way.

My weekend sucked. I was going to win a trip and then some rich jerks bring $1500 to our church event to win "The Edge." I really don't like people who have money to dish out freely like that :/

I've been good otherwise. Working on getting my license, driving is really fun once you get the hang of it. Also, I'm waiting to get a call tomorrow or thursday if I got a job. If I did, that would be amazing because I'm so short on cash right now and I need money for college. Trying to build a bunch of decks without money is a tough thing to do as well.

Driving gets to be overrated. Wait until you have to start driving everywhere, people ask you to drive them places, ect....it gets annoying.

I'm probably just liking it because I've been getting a bit better each time. At first I was really cautious about turning when there is a slight distance between the cars. I would wait until like every car would pass by lol.

I doubt people will ask me to drive them and if they do.. i'll probably say no anyways.

Hello all.

It's been a while since I popped around, but college has been keeping me rather busy. Due to issues with the students at the beginning of the year, my semester was delayed to start recently, meaning I have to complete 6 months worth of work in 10 weeks. Yeah, it's been fun so far.

I can keep up with the once-a-month minimum for posting, so I'd like to remain a member if possible. =)

On magic related news... I'm in conflict with Alara. I hate the idea of tri-color decks being the minimum nowadays, and I hate the fact that building manabases alone is about to get absurdly expensive. I do, however, love some of the black cards in Shards. Fleshbag Marauder is the best removal card I've seen for my 1.X zombie decklist, and Death Baron keeps the love coming for my sweet undead. I like the WB Zombies list that's running around in the forums, but I don't remember where it is ATM.

I've decided to stray from my usual aggro decks in 1.X, and came up with a rather decent MBC list. I don't play much anymore (focused on judging, seeing as we've got a Kyoto PTQ shortly and I want to take my Level 1 exam), but it's been doing well at small extended tournaments in my area. Take a look:

@Uriel: Your deck seems very mana extensive and slow. Maybe you should shift the Totems into mainboard?

I know. Its kind of embarassing. Our new evincar got suspended for accumulating infractions.
