Yeah, I guess records have their upsides. I'm kinda pissed off at CDs lately because they don't even last anymore. They're good for a few months and then they start skipping and eventually crap out. So much for music that "lasts forever".
[B][COLOR="DarkOrchid"]I pulled a Figure of DestinyFoil yday. It is cool, but kinda sucks b/c it was also the release card = not gonna be very valuable. I love the foilies but don't care/collect/play promo stuff for some reason. The regular foil should be worth more imo.
The regular foil is worth way more. I wouldn't let it go for under $25 in trades, maybe $20 at worst. The Promo is worth like $9 (less than a non-foil).
Clan contest #4 is go, group photo. I will chop unless someone else wants to, what do we want to do with this thing?
Eeeeesh. Remember..... THIS?!?!?
That was a year ago I think. Another group photo contest already?
Anyway, it's been hot here, and I've been busy with the business as well as having fun with sammy and friends. No cabin trips lately though. I did buy Burning Man tickets.... it'll be both sammy and my first trips. We're going with my friend Rob, who has been a few times already.
Dude...the picture you're spoilering is not showing up. If it;s the last one we did...that was like 3 years ago.

It was a good play - my bird can berserk + trade with the ornithopter, or the 'goyf with his enforcer. If he'd put the counters on the frog, smooth sailing. Otherwise his whole board is instant-speed death.
Of course, plating + shrapnel blast make that moot +_+

The clan forum has changed dramatically from when we did that contest in the beginning of 2007. I think I may push for it to be one of the yearly standard contests, since it creates a snapshot in time of what's going on for the clans. The contest thread links to the entries from last year as well as the one we did in 2005, if anyone is curious.

Poking fun at yourself with that title Yukora? I remember that, back then you were a friend and regular poster of every single clan in existence...with the exception of us if I recall. Funny how things change.
So I went fishing again. It was hot so I built up a shelter. I found an old poncho in the garbage, grabbed two sticks of rebar and broken sticks of a kite and built an awning over a two foot drop in the beach. Not an electronic light mixing phenomenon, but it kept the sun off. I had sand fleas, cut bait, and shrimp and went at it for four hours. After all that I had one fish, but what a fish! I didn't even know I had it until it got close to shore then it started struggling. I ran down to the beach reeling it in when the hook popped out of its mouth just at the edge of the waves. It flopped trying to get back in the water as I frantically scooped at it to get it farther on dry land. 15 and 3/4 inch mullet. It weighed 1lbs and 9 ounces and was a citation fish. I BBQ'd it up whole accompanied by rice and three large portabello mushrooms. Very beautiful.
Drama increased this week but between the park and the marina. Seems they are quite disgruntled about the law enforcement we have and some heavy handed tickets. Truth be told there some stuff I disagree with, but I'd be a bad law enforcer. I'd probably play favortism to the regulars I like. I try to stay relatively neutral, but if push came to shove I'd have to support the park. My job after all.
Cheers,

Poor SP. I wonder what he was even talking about. Though I would say that any chance to dig on Sakura should be taken, that kid needs to be brought sharply back into reality.
@Daggs: Your stories always leave me awestruck, honestly. It is unbelievable to me, being the city kid that I am, that you made a shelter out of that stuff and caught and cooked a whole fish, etc etc. I mean, I know you can do it, having gone camping w/ you, but it's still amazing.
I had a really good day with the boys. Nothing exciting, just trampoline and Blue Planet and Uno and drawing and pasta. But any time with them is good time.
I would say that any chance to dig on Sakura should be taken, that kid needs to be brought sharply back into reality.
She's 33, so probably not 'a kid', and anyone caught "digging on" her or any other member is going to be sadly disappointed.... and possibly unable to post here anymore. Be careful.
That's funny Daggs, I can just picture you running along the beach trying to catch a fish flopping around. LOL
Well what would you do if Dinner was trying to get away? Fish is good eating and I very rarely got fresh fish out west. Course I could always go fishing for trout or catfish, but I've never had much luck. Not much luck out here anyway, but that citation fish was impressive and oh so good. I have high hopes now. I need a Red Drum so I can make blackened red fish. That dish almost single handedly caused the extinction of what was considered a common trash fish. Its not endangered or threatened right now, but Its highly regulated with size restrictions and catch limits. Very good eating, I can't believe it was considered a trash fish.
Poor S_P. We'll just have to wait for him. Theres no doubt he was flaming that person and I guess that wasn't his first infraction. Ah well, he'll be back by the time I'm back from the island.
Who is this Sakura and why is her reality in question?
Thanks Nick. I've made shanty shelters before, not too hard when the only requirement was to keep the sun off of me. Had enough holes so it wasn't waterproof, but not enough that the sun would penetrate it. The corners even had gromets in them, which made my life easier cause I didn't want to make gromets. Their easy to make with a bit of rope, but I've had issues sewing them on synthetic cloth and I didn't want to invest the time. Normally the sun wouldn't bother me too much, but I had shorts on which is rare for me. So my legs are not tanned and can burn quite easily.
Well, I'm heading to Shackleford island. Its one of the larger islands in the park with big sand dunes, a maritime forest, and horses. I've never been there but plan on hiking around a bit. Should be interesting.

Daggs...Sakura is a transgendered transvestite. He/she has proclaimed for years that they are going through sex change procedures and hormone therapies to become a woman. Many people on the site are protective of him/her and take actions when negative attacks are brought for ANY reason.
Honestly....you're not missing anything!
The best place to fish for the drum are in the Intercoastal. They go in there during high tide and feed on the plants that get exposed during low tide.

What's it like to be narrow minded about stupidity? Sounds wild! :p:D:stupid:
We're having "real" summer here on the West coast now, complete with sun, high temperatures, and fairly dry air (for a coastal region). I won't complain, though, as I know the crops need it (we've had a very cool and wet spring/summer so far). I don't have AC in this house, but the way we're facing and the fact that I have a hill behind the house means we only have direct sun on us for a few hours in the afternoon. It stays fairly cool until then, and cools down quickly by dusk. Could be far worse.
You should see the foils I pulled for EVE. A Rugged Prairie, a Stigma Lasher, and a couple dozen crap rares. No, seriously, somehow I only pulled 2 good rares out of a couple dozen foil rares, in a set where over half the rares are good. I was shocked as I looked through them, each one worse than the last. If I was a paranoid man, I'd think something was up.
Bah, ticks...why did it have to be ticks? I hate ticks. The kind of Hateread that spurs violence and carnage though emotional outbursts. Of all the pests I've encountered ticks are what I dispise the most. And shackleford Banks is covered in them. They like the horses you see, and will get to you if your on the island for any extended period of time. Unless you stay on the beach. I didn't stay on the beach. I spent over a half an hour pulling tiny ticks out of my legs. There were so many that I actually stopped caring. Fancy that. I'll probably start caring again when I tick check under my underware. Seriously, some places should just be off limits to parasites.
I had a blast on Shackleford. It reminded me alot of home with certain areas having grassland with sparce juniper vegetation. Even had cactus growing around which aparently can reproduce vegetatively like those in Arizona. Word to the wise, never sit crosslegged on a treetrunk without checking your boots for cactus. Youch, that stung.
The maritime forest was impressive in some spots. Old gnarled oaks and large cedars in dense clusters and liana's hanging from them. Carpenter ants ran up and down trunks while cicadas sang.
Now I don't know how hot a real summer gets in Canada. I figure that far north its probably in the 60's :p, but down here the heat index was probably over 100 degrees. I was shade hoping down the island, taking breaks to avoid the heat. I guess I wasn't careful enough though, I'm guessing the breaze from the beach made me think I was better off than I was. Ah well, sometimes the heat can get the best of us. I'm currently sitting with a bit of a heat induced headache. Not the first time, probably not the last. As long as I don't start hallucinating I will be fine.
Fun hike all around, even if it was a short five mile hike.
Cheers,
Daggertooth

It doesn't get much above 90F here. You only have to go East (inland) a couple hours to find near-desert conditions though, and temps up to 100F. Just because Canada is to the north doesn't mean the summers aren't hot. In fact, some parts of Canada are hotter than some parts of the US, in summer. Temperatures are just more extreme here than there. Kinda like they have NO seasons at the equator. Up here, we have exaggerated seasons.

Brian - glad to hear Nick's stuff came. Happy that nobody has to go to the bad trader pit for whippings
The deer love certain plants sammy's got in the veggie garden. So far all they've really left untouched are the carrots, which aren't ready for eating yet anyway. The peas, broccoli, peppers, all snipped off at ground level. Anyone know how to keep them out of gardens, without shooting them? A fence is impossible because we live on a forested mountainside.

It is happy. I was kind of hoping that the bad feel I got from waaay back when I loaned some cards to him for States (+ then he couldn't go, + the cards took 4 months to get back to me) would be annihilated with awesomeness + the powers of Called-inspired art. . . but nah. It's our Nick, after all

Try this; I saw white pepper + vinegar on some lists as well -
Things You’ll Need:
Cooking Oil
Eggs
Milk
liquid soap
hot chili oil (optional)
small spray bottle
blender
Combine in a blender; one whole egg, one cup of milk (skim or regular), a few tablespoons of cooking oil and one tablespoon of liquid soap with one quart of water. Add one teaspoon of hot chili oil if you have it on hand.
Set the blender on low to mix all the ingredients together.
Pour the mixture into a small spray bottle.
Spray the homemade deer repellent onto susceptible garden plants every five to seven days.
Tips & Warnings
* Keep leftover repellant in the refrigerator for later use.
* The oil is necessary to help the mixture cling to the leaves.
In horticultural terms, this is called a â??surfactant'. <-- probably not accurate
* Rain or irrigation water will wash the repellant from the foliage. Reapply as often as necessary to prevent deer from browsing.
Sound quality, basically, + a more involved music experience. Something about putting down that needle.
