Good point. Americans need to do a LOT more politically if they're going to continue to be a first world country. Another reason they need to be more political (I mean actually involved, not just complaining about it) is that they don't even know their rights, and they are being taken away bit by bit. Your people fought hard for your freedom and it's being fairly quickly eroded. Every generation has less rights and freedoms than the last. Bush has done a LOT to advance the rights of the government and little or nothing to help the people.
And yeah, if you're slaughtering innocent children because your military complex wants to make hundreds of billions, you're an evil pawn. Don't volunteer to do evil.
I've become a real hippy lately, but I can't help it. I see peace as an absolutely necessary step in our race's development. We must have peace before we can move forward and accomplish things like stopping the destruction we're doing to the planet, ending needless poverty, discovering future technologies that will revolutionize our medical knowledge, and so on.
Bush isn't really the problem. He's a face, but the body of the beast is far larger. There are dozens of people actually running the country, mostly from the shadows. The president is just a face for people to shake their fist at if they're mad, or throw flowers at if they're happy. It's been 30 years since the government wasn't a puppet of global bankers. A vote for pretty much anyone is a vote for more of the same.
If you're saying that peace talks will only cause terrorism, I disagree. I think we should have a strong defense at home, and diplomats abroad. Bring the troops back to US soil, and try and mend relations with the DOZENS of countries we've attacked, assaulted, threatened, installed puppet dictatorships in, bombed, and/or ruined financially. Let people govern THEMSELVES. If we don't like their style of government, too bad! Communism actually won't be the end of America. Neither will any other style of government in a foreign land. If we have a strong defense, solid borders, and good relationships with other countries, they'll take care of themselves. If they attack us, we'll push them back. If they attack us again, we'll crush them into nothing and kill every last soldier and government official, and take their land and resources and civilians and make a 52nd state. But we can't keep policing 100+ foreign countries and controlling several others with spies and bribed politicians. This is really, really stupid.
War is great for the global bankers. This is when they make a TON of money. Housing slump? It's great for those rich bankers! They just buy up tons of property for pennies on the dollar. High oil prices? Doesn't bother them either. In fact, they're probably all invested in oil. Bottom line: war and recession aren't accidents, they're tools. Someone is getting VERY rich from this. When they're ready, they'll end the war (for a while) and bring the economy back up, and sell some of the property they bought for three times what they paid.
The problem is, where does that leave the other 99.5% of the population? Grieving dead sons, trying to forgive themselves for slaughtering unarmed mothers begging for their lives, bankrupt, depressed, sick without health care, and/or homeless.
But hey, this is America, land of opportunity. They'll recover... for a while.
No Daron..I wasn't saying that peace talks will spawn global terrorism....I was being sacrastic and spewing the right wing outlook on Obama's visits and meetings with muslim leaders.
heh...I was actually going to use something like this title when I had made a new thread, but ended up going with something else.
I hadn't been weighing in on the government conversation simply because I was one of the people that voted for Bush the second time simply because that's what I was told to do. I wasn't a very informed voter at the time, and I wish that if people don't actually know/understand what's going on, that they wouldn't vote. As for military enlistment...My cousin had enlisted a while ago, but now he's wishing that he never would have. He's trying to think of any way that he can get out of his "obligation to his country." He told me that he's seen things that made him regret even thinking about enlisting in the first place, but said he couldn't go into details.
I was wondering if anyone knew where to get cheap textbooks, other than half.com. I'm having trouble finding one or two of the books I need.
I don't really engage in talks about the war/politics/etc. IDKW, I just don't get into it.
I stunk the place up at FNM last night. Went 1-3 = Drop. I think my deck was good, I just had bad luck.
I did however pull a Fetid HeathFoil !! That was kick ass!
IDK of any place to get text books S_P, sorry.

I woke up and cleaned some stuff, did laundry, etc.. Now I'm sitting around being lazy, playing Lego's Indiana Jones on PS3. It's cute and pretty fun! I thought about the Lego's Star Wars game, but I saw this and, truthfully, I am not a huge Star Wars fan. I liked the Indiana Jones movies better. I pulled a Figure of DestinyFoil yday. It is cool, but kinda sucks b/c it was also the release card = not gonna be very valuable. I love the foilies but don't care/collect/play promo stuff for some reason. The regular foil should be worth more imo.
Not much going on here huh? No one seems to post much on the weekends.
.
.
Anybody want to play a game? I haven't thrown down since the Shadowmoor release x_X
I scored the entire Star Trek: the Animated Series, man those are awesome. We watched a few last night + just laughed + laughed. They're good, but there are some classic moments; exploring the derelict spaceship + lights start flashing = Kirk et al @ the Disco. Pure enjoyment.
Cyaaan. . . Cyaaaaaannnn. . . *ghost of our trade, haunting you forever*
When is the next instance of a block rotating out, and just leaving a new block/set + coreset legal in T2? I seem to remember this happening some time, but it could just be my crazy mind.
* CharlieD has a brian related question!
Ever get around to looking into records-4-goyf, b?
Charlie....the next block to rotate out is Time Spiral/Coldsnap block in October. There is also a huge Extended rotation then as well. Everything before Onslaught will rotate out of extended. I think anything before 8th edition as well. It was going to be everything with the old card face rotates out of extended but they left in Onslaught.....mostly so goblins will contend with Affinity as the top deck IMO.

I don't have Please Please Me, With The Beatles, A Hard Day's Night, Revolver, Magical Mystery Tour, White Album, Let it Be. I really want to pick up White Album next.
Eds: BPC is back I'm already tired of seeing a post of his every 5 minutes
I already got an infraction for "flaming" him via PM, even though all I did was take him up on the offer in his sig to PM him about issues with him pre-banning. *shrug*
I've got a copy of the White Album, what do you value it at? It's one of the numbered pressings, records are fine but the cover is fairly worn.
*draw (6)*
*play Savannah*
*tap out for Creeping Mold targetting Arcbound Ravager*
*EoT*
I'd value that at about $45-50? That's how much it is at Egg Records in the city, and the owner there really knows his stuff. Anything else you want to go with the 'goyf??
*response*
Before that resolved i'll sac a chromatic star to the ravager for another counter (draw 1), and then sac the ravager to itself and put two counters on the 'thopter.
*my turn*
*untap*
*draw* (3 in hand)
*play vault of whispers*
*tap furnace + seat for cranial plating*
*tap vault and equip plating to enforcer*
*attack w/ froggy + enforcer for 14*
*untaps*
*upkeep: tap seat of the 'nod to keep the enforcer, lose 'thopter + froggy*
*draw* (2)
*play glimmervoid*
*tap 'void: sac pyrite spellbomb for 2 damage to your head*
*tap furnace + vault; shrapnel blast to dome, sac'ing the vault.*
*gg*??
I'll PM you an old list of my "haves". I have some lor + MT I think, let me check.
Didn't the last photo contest cause a ruckus because of a clan voting for an obviously inferior submission to keep themselves in contention for clan of the year?
Are the Beatles albums really going for that much!?!? My step-dad has original pressings from the 60's in his collection......damn!!

Oh, man, steal them off him and give them to me! Original 60's pressings are worth more than the ones we're talking about. These are like mid/late 70s. But the 60s ones... damn.
* CharlieD wants to get Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" on vinyl!
He has so many albums for era he may actually have an early pressing of that one as well. He has well over 1200 albums in his collection and his father's collection topped 8000. He should get that when his mother knocks off. Me....I only have original pressings of Metallica and slayer and venom!
I have an old pioneer direct drive turntable from the early 80's. It's a wonderful thing. My step dad has an older belt-drive Techniques....maybe mine is Techniques as well....I don't remember. I'll get the model number for you and you tell me if it's good....I'll get it tonight.

I don't know that much about players themselves. Mine is just a plain $99 nameless brand one from JB Hi-Fi. It gets the job done. Once I have a bit more money to splash around in a few years I'll get a decent, if not amazing sound system, when I'm in my own place. Also I'll buy a copy of Bong Load Custom's pressing of Elliott Smith's "XO". they go for $75-$400. There's one on eBay for $75 at the moment I think, too bad I can't buy off eBay.
I reckon by the time I'm 20 I'll have over 400 records. Kind of depressing.
* CharlieD has an original pressing of Abbey Road, a second French pressing of The Smiths' first album, and an original pressing of "Rumours".

Ahh, Saturday!..

Homebrew is creating Magic.
Are you a pilot or a creator??
Love the new title! The old days of the gutter.....and clans I believe.....my memory is fading.....
where was I?
..Yeah, Sunday..

I scored the entire Star Trek: the Animated Series, man those are awesome. We watched a few last night + just laughed + laughed. They're good, but there are some classic moments; exploring the derelict spaceship + lights start flashing = Kirk et al @ the Disco. Pure enjoyment.

* CharlieD has a MTG related question!
When is the next instance of a block rotating out, and just leaving a new block/set + coreset legal in T2? I seem to remember this happening some time, but it could just be my crazy mind.
* CharlieD has a brian related question!
Ever get around to looking into records-4-goyf, b?
eds: *shuffles up his out-of-date extended deck*
Play or draw?
*shuffles up casual Elephant Control*

[obvious]+ can't you get another power cable?[/obv]
I already got an infraction for "flaming" him via PM, even though all I did was take him up on the offer in his sig to PM him about issues with him pre-banning. *shrug*
I'd value that at about $45-50? That's how much it is at Egg Records in the city, and the owner there really knows his stuff. Anything else you want to go with the 'goyf??
*response*
Before that resolved i'll sac a chromatic star to the ravager for another counter (draw 1), and then sac the ravager to itself and put two counters on the 'thopter.
*my turn*
*untap*
*draw* (3 in hand)
*play vault of whispers*
*tap furnace + seat for cranial plating*
*tap vault and equip plating to enforcer*
*attack w/ froggy + enforcer for 14*

*untap, draw (5)*
*tap forest for Crop Rotation. Sac forest, search out the Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, put it into play.
*play Elephant Graveyard*
*tap Savannah, Graveyard for Tarmogoyf (5/6)*
*EoT*
Do you have a list yet? I don't have any of the Eventide shapeshifters, but I can't think of anything else off the top of my head. . .
Clan contest #4 is go, group photo. I will chop unless someone else wants to, what do we want to do with this thing?
*upkeep: tap seat of the 'nod to keep the enforcer, lose 'thopter + froggy*
*draw* (2)
*play glimmervoid*
*tap 'void: sac pyrite spellbomb for 2 damage to your head*
*tap furnace + vault; shrapnel blast to dome, sac'ing the vault.*
*gg*??
I'll PM you an old list of my "haves". I have some lor + MT I think, let me check.
*sideboards Oxidize*
*harvesting old threads for incriminating evidence*
Didn't the last photo contest cause a ruckus because of a clan voting for an obviously inferior submission to keep themselves in contention for clan of the year?
That was a really fast game.

Are the Beatles albums really going for that much!?!? My step-dad has original pressings from the 60's in his collection......damn!!
I have to pee!:D
Oh, man, steal them off him and give them to me! Original 60's pressings are worth more than the ones we're talking about. These are like mid/late 70s. But the 60s ones... damn.
* CharlieD wants to get Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" on vinyl!
I have an old pioneer direct drive turntable from the early 80's. It's a wonderful thing. My step dad has an older belt-drive Techniques....maybe mine is Techniques as well....I don't remember. I'll get the model number for you and you tell me if it's good....I'll get it tonight.
I reckon by the time I'm 20 I'll have over 400 records. Kind of depressing.
* CharlieD has an original pressing of Abbey Road, a second French pressing of The Smiths' first album, and an original pressing of "Rumours".
eds: Want!
