Psychology is scientific in its approach, however, unlike true sciences, it is purely experimental and has no true laws. Psychology differs greatly from person-to-person, from opinion-to-opinion. This accredits it to the status of pseudo-science.
Your definitions of a "science" don't match. By Wiki's definition, psychology is a science.
Also, string theory, for example, varies even more so from theorist to theorist than psychological observations, which are pretty well-established relative to many scientific hot topics.
W/G was insane. I pulled an oversoul of dusk, and was passed another!!! got 3x shield of oversoul, pulled one finks, passed 3. it was by far, the best goddamn draft ive ever done. no one stood a chance, i aggroed out waaaaaay to fast for anyone to be able to do anything.
I find it funny that they chose U/ for the color rivals instead of something like W/, but I guess that it is still ok (If they had printed Garruk as an include this would probably have sold out EVERYWHERE:rolleyes:).
I just finished check all the cards in my deck I got back (250 cards is a lot to check:sweat:) and noticed all the cards the way I left them, with the exception of one card which had swears and graffiti on it (I have already ordered a replacment for it, which sucks because it was a foil).
BTW which do you think is better Badlands or Taiga? I can only get one along with Scrubland so which one?
Yeah, that Vintage restriction article should be good. I want to know how they justify these... they've already kinda gone over it, but... it doesn't mesh well...
I'm looking forward to reading the article, but seriously, what can they say?
1) We did stand behind our ridiculous decisions.
2) Sorry.
3) Did it for the lulz.
Hmm. I honestly thought it was one of those "Hah! You don't know!"-jokes... my uncle is gay, although he doesn't think we know (how the **** could we not, he's... pretty open... :uhh:), and whenever he's talking about a cute guy he met or some ****, and I walk into the room, he starts bellowing "Oh, and she had the most luscious boobies!" ... and then it gets R-rated...
Heh, and he's got some of the best dirty jokes you'll ever hear...
According to Chris Rock, everyone has a gay uncle. I don't, but maybe one day I will be the gay uncle.
Really? As far as I remember, I only started wondering after you talked about liking men.
People don't sound gay over the Interwebs.
Well, meeting me really wouldn't help either. I really don't give off gay vibes if I'm not doing something specifically gay. I've found that effeminate gay men aren't the majority of gay men - they're just the most visibly gay men.
The reason I say that is because in my psych class we were talking about physical and mental differences between gay and straight men. Apparently there is virtually no research done in the field of lesbians vs. women because they aren't many differences anatomically between them, but the brains of gay men are strikingly different from those of straight men. We watched a 60 Minutes clip in class where Leslie Stahl watched prerecorded videos of men sitting in a chair and talking to an interviewer, and she was saying things like "He doesn't seem gay...but that guy's definitely gay."
(I am going into psych research.)
True - there is a particular gland in the brain that is (on average) notably smaller/larger in straight or gay men. But there's a fair amound of psuedo-science concerning homosexuality. However, with a little looking on youtube, I think I found the video you watched in class. Seems like it was edited to be intentionally confusing.
However I personally don't care for psychology as a discipline. I think it gets me that it's just a pseudo-science, as opposed to an actual science.
Don't confuse the science of a complicated subject matter with one that isn't properly scientific. Just because the brain, culture, and human behavior is vastly more variable and complicated than simpler biological or physical matters does not make psychology a non-science. It makes it a science in which you expect greater disagreement, simple laws, and varying theories to compensate for the difficulties of isolating variables.
Science is in the method and the rigor - not the subject matter.
I intend to look back and see who hasn't posted in forever. How long should we give them?
I haven't looked around at all of the stragglers, but I think you should use a similar standard to what you usually do. Around a month or so... with a PM to give them a chance to find their way back.
Also, there was a suggestion to put some of our information in the first post. I'd like to visit it again, but what info should we include?
I would be content to have the first post not be in black text is all. I bet you can do it easily by copying the text into wordpad, then copying it back from wordpad. Us darkskinnners can't read it right now.

Oh, of course. We also talked about how many gay men are as masculine or more masculine than straight men.

I can't watch any videos on my computer ATM because my computer and YouTube don't get along, and all other sites use YouTube's video format (hooray for erotic Flash games making up for RedTube's incapacitation), so I'll have to take your word on that one.

So...about those storms in the Midwest. Thunderstorm watch all day and not a raincloud in the sky. Should have gone to that open house...there was even free ice cream!
I think Taiga's better, but I have no idea what Badlands is even played in.
Whilst I dont know who the vandal is, it still made me unhappy that someone would search through my deck, find one random card and vandalize it for kicks. Well at least they left my other cards alone, I'll pay for the replacement of the one that got graffiti'd on.
As for the dual land question I think you are right taiga seems better just because I can pull it with land grant. On the better side I found a friend selling some slightly beat duals, he offered me a tundra, savannah, and a tropical island for $56 (All "played" to a degree), should I take the deal?
When you have a name that weird and a character that deformed you really can't help but be called gay from time to time. At the very least he is getting more attention, right?
Hmm. Apparently there was a massive MTGS server issue today... I think I saw a thread, so I'll go read up on it.
Yeah, the storms around here this weekend completely took out the Wisconsin Dells, as well as many other places. Fortunately though, the rest of this week doesn't seem (visually) to be that bad, of course it is on the news...
I think I got AIM back to working now, so... eh.

I'd do it. They're about $20.oo a piece as it is, and if only slightly played, there should be no problem. Just to be me, though, I'd still haggle.

Wow, down south is really getting the crap beaten out of them with these storms..(down south = not canada or alaska lol) I wish it would storm here..it's been ominous clouds for a whole week and about 5 combined minutes of storming. So lame.

Yeah I'll agree with Rav, try and talk them down to 45-50, but it's still a good deal.
So...about those storms in the Midwest. Thunderstorm watch all day and not a raincloud in the sky. Should have gone to that open house...there was even free ice cream!
The original star wars trilogy was notable in my mind for being able to create culture of its own in all of the alien races and worlds without being an obvious borrowing from earth cultures.
Jar Jar aside (whatever he was he was annoying as all hell - and played a very stupid role in the movies all the way through.) I think Lucas borrowed far too heavily from real cultures and accents for the new trilogy. The trade federation might as well have been bucktoothed laundrymen with the accent they had.

So humid... ugh. And everything has been affected by the storms - tons of downed trees and interrupted power/cable/cell service. Blech on all of the industrialists of 1920 who pumped smog into the air while dancing the charlston that caused these global warming storms.
EDIT @ AI: You see what happened to my first quote of this post? Well, you didn't misplace the quote tag - it just seems to happen randomly.

Yes. But also because he (a while back) and Weaver have been trying to get me to. I've finally gotten around to it, and then... **** happens.

Uh... no? It didn't just happen randomly. You had an [/quote] in your AI quote, which triggored the quote to end (hence the tag), you should've put an asterisk or something in it. I thought you would know this, so excuse me for having lol'd as I read this.

Okay, just got owned there. I'm obviously aware of how the tags work - I just didn't think about it.
Besides, how often do you even get a chance to quote "[/quote]?"
Anyway, here's a post explaining why the forums were down earlier and who was responsible.
EDIT @ AI: You see what happened to my first quote of this post? Well, you didn't misplace the quote tag - it just seems to happen randomly.
Hahaha, wamyc and BBCode don't mesh.
I actually did misplace it because I was splicing quotes and filling in [/quote] and
tags as a result.
[quote=Hannes;/comments/8653390]I don't know if you guys think this is funny, but I just spent eight hours trying to figure out why the server kept crashing.
Eventually we figured out it was because some users stacked [mana] tags recursively until everything overloaded.
Not only are you banned but pointless spamming in the Testing Grounds is over too.
Eleven hours of downtime, countless hours spent figuring out what on earth is going on, I hope you're proud. You could have just reported this bug, you know.

I guess now we know not to stack too many tags together...
Tiki stopped playing Magic a while ago and hardly has any Standard-legal cards.
Plus those cards are worth $2, $2.50, and $1.50 respectively, quite a lot for uncommons.
Well, I think it sucks that we can't just spam up the testing grounds any more. Sometimes you have to let loose with a display of smilies. or hundreds of dice rolls.
And the question is - did they fix the bug or what? Not that I would replicate it but I imagine that Binary or some other tech is on the problem if it isn't solved allready. They clearly had to at least delete the offending posts to get mtgs back up.

I didn't think of that... and I also didn't consider that they'd be so expensive. I suppose it makes sense, in retrospect...
But that's alright. If I end up getting just some Mires from Weaver('s slave), that'll be more than enough.
Which reminds me of your first post in this thread, AI: If you want to exploit Weaver's new following, I'd get the order in... but also, I've noticed a lack of... risque references from you in the past two days. Are you sick?
Edit: wamyc: Do you have any updates from the Contest?

The contest... is going to take a while. I was just thinking today that I'm going to impose a concrete deadline for the judging. However, it will be pretty lenient, I imagine - like the end of this month.
A little bit of judging is trickling in, but there's a lot of cards to handle and two of the five judges have had to take the first week off for IRL stuff.
sucks that the testing grounds are going away, i like the first to 50,000 posts wins.
I doubt they are going away - especially given the many people who have extendos. I think what Hannes had in mind was a reenvisioning of the standards for spam in the testing grounds.

So I just thought about it, and if Tiki really wants to send me some stuff that doesn't break his wallet (foil Blood Crypt ~ $25.oo), I do need a playset of each: Tattermunge Maniac, Flame Javelin, Boggart Ram-Gang.
