How'sthis? W = Morality & Order U = Logic & Technology B = Parasitism & Amorality R = Chaos & Impulse G = Instinct & Interdependence
Hence: WU: Judicial Branch WB: Executive Branch (How appropriate, right?) UB: CIA UR: Navy BR: FBI (Not the best fit.) BG: Air Force (A bit of a stretch.) RG: Marine Corps RW: Army GW: Legislative Branch GU: Coast Guard
I agree with all the single colors. However, it should look more like this:
WU: Judicial Branch WB: Executive Branch / IRS (though very corrupt IRS) UB: CIA UR: Outside of politics, mad scientist association. BR: Criminals with no role whatsoever BG: EPA (recycling and compost- it makes sense) RG: That orginization about gun rights. Can't remember name RW: Army GW: Legislative Branch (?) GU: I can't remember the name, but it is the government orginization for food additives and stuff.
Your grouping is more flavorful, but I really just wanted to incorporate the actual highest divisions of government, military, and espionage in this country.

Haha...us Vorthos players will rule the world one day. And force all of you Spike players to look at artwork and read flavour text. And enjoy it.
What about us spike/Vorthoses? I'm both, so I don't consider them to be opposed. There are some flavor junkies who also cards about sheer power, and there are some tourny-jockies who would not be fooled by my first tome.

I love that card!
Most likely, I could also be described as a Spike-Vorthos. I play to win, and try to stay on top of flavor and mechanics. (I like to design cards.)
Johnny/Vorthoses own! My First Tome rules. I wish it wasn't Unhinged, so I could make a deck based on it.
I just played with my Mishra deck and beat my friend twice. He beat me 0 times. I took out Mindless Automaton and added Spellbook (cheap spell to feed to Atog), Herbal Poultice to regenerate Mishra, and Cathodion- 3 mana for 6 mana and +4/+4 to your Atog? That's a good deal.

Herbal Poultice is cheap, sure, but seems like it's taking up space that could be better filled. Even the blue spellbomb is much much better because it does so many other things. You can cycle it, save mishra, or bounce an opposing creature.
Spellbook? Man, you must really be desperate for cheap spells, because that card is awful. ANY other 0 artifact would be better. Artifact lands, the baubles, phyrexian walker, ornithopter, shield sphere.
Cathodian is actually really clever. I likes.
@slaker: Is Mishra's getting tourney play? Also, your siglink is broken.
slaker, I didn't mean you had to take it off. If you want a Sig, and for some reason it's too much of a hassle to make one, just ask for one. You could have a banner and everything, even lists of quotes you like or decks you are playing.
into your sig. In any case it looks a little empty at the moment.
And I think it's cool to live somewhere that has its own meta. I hate to think that all metas are so very alike across the wide areas that Magic is played. But what is the Mishra deck like where you live? Anything like what we have been discussing?
Izzet aren't really capitolists. Scientists do not have time to care about rights, or money. Individual rights is more of a G thing. R just does whatever it wants, and U demands that it be complicated, interesting, and have a good chance of collapsing space and time.
Having 'rights' is an illusion. What you have, are privlages. Any kind of notion saying otherwise is false or non-informed.

I'm back from PTQ Des Moines. I called in sick to work on Friday night and it worked out alright. My friend Ryan and I rented a hotel room that night and it was really nice to actually get some sleep before a tournament. I went 2-2 and had alot of fun. I got better hands than at PTQ Lincoln. I also mulliganed less (never went past 5). I still had the feeling that another mulligan in the matches I lost might have got me a win. You can find my decklist here.
Rd 1: U/G Tron
I lost the first game to Tolaria West tutoring up Tormod's Crypt and Academy Ruins. I won the next two games with quick wins before he could get enough mana on the board to tutor up answers. I boarded in Pithing Needle against Crypt.
Rd 2: Mono Red Burn
I won the first game with a large Golgari Grave-Troll, despite that the only land I had all game was Tarnished Citadel. He won the second by burning me to death. I won the third game with Ancestor's Chosen which gained me 21 life when it came into play. I boarded in Pithing Needle against Tormod's Crypt and Mogg Fanatic.
Rd 3: Affinity
I won the first game. He had mulliganed into a weak hand and conceded to Dread Return. Second game he won with one swing of a double Cranial PlatedMyr Enforcer. In the third game I made a misplay that cost me the match. During my second turn I had a Tireless Tribe on the board, a Cabal Therapy in my graveyard and I knew he had an Arcbound Ravager in hand. I should have flashed my Therapy back, but at the time I thought I needed my discard outlet. I ended up barely losing to the Ravager. I brought in Pithing Needle against Tormod's Crypt and Arcbound Ravager.
Rd 4: TEPS
I mulliganed a few times first game into a hand with a Tireless Tribe and Golgari Grave-Troll. This wasn't fast enough vs. another combo deck and he dealt me lethal with Tendrils of Agony. Second game had him going off with Empty the Warrens, making 12 tokens. I went off the next turn putting out a Golgari Grave-Troll and a few tokens. He ended up winning. He commented afterwards to me that Wonder would have won me that game. I brought in Needle against Crypt.
Some things I learned:
-Golgari Grave-Troll is an awesome reanimation target. In alot of matchups I could board out Cephalid Sage, Akroma, Angel of Wrath, and Flame-Kin Zealot.
-Ichorid should always be kept in against decks you expect to pack Tormod's Crypt. You don't want to Dredge too much and Ichorid allows you to put the pressure on, while putting the pressure on your opponent to blow his Crypt.
-Never pass your second main phase without thinking about flashbacking Cabal Therapy from your graveyard. As I reported above, this gave me a match loss.
-I boarded in Needle every round at this tournament. I'm thinking about adding Chalice of the Void as a redundant copy against Tormod's Crypt on the play. This leaves your Needles open to name Mogg Fanatic or Arcbound Ravager, etc.
I would definetely use Chalice of the Void. I know almost nothing about dredge, but I can imagine your fury when someone removes your entire graveyard from the game for 0 mana
Also, I've been noticing everyone thinks Tarmogoyf is great and I hadn't realized why until I noticed that Changelings are hundreds of creature types.
I took out spellbook and am going to add in Aether Spellbomb into my MIshra deck.
Also, I've been noticing everyone thinks Tarmogoyf is great and I hadn't realized why until I noticed that Changelings are hundreds of creature types.
Sorry, but Tarmogoyf counts card types, not creature types.
Otherwise a single Nameless Inversion would make it the largest creature possible on turn three...
I think Pithing Needle is alright in the SB, it's not really needed until games 2 and 3 when you're opponent brings in Crypt. Some people do play MB Leyline of the Void, which stops Fanatic, Ravager, Sakura Tribe Elder, etc. I've found that that stuff can be played around though.

Don't you mean "Pithing Needle?"
Seems like you wouldn't play it turn one, but maybe later once you know what to name...
I did mean Leyline of the Void. I bet Pithing Needle would be just as effective, though, as it stops everything I named. The main place it would be worse is against the mirror.
thats why its sbed so you know what to call for it to be effective
It's not like you always draw Pithing Needle in your opener. Sometimes it shows up a little down the road.
EDIT: Although with Dredge, especially if you somehow lost the previous game, you may never draw an eighth card if you dredge every turn...

Well, it doesn't stop their abilities, but it stops them from putting themselves in the graveyard since they're removed from the game instead. This is important because it keeps them from being able to remove the Bridges from the game.

Of course. Silly me. I keep forgetting that dredge is "public masturbation with graveyard triggers." No offense to anyone who plays it, yourself included.

I was thinking about that quote at the tournament too. Win or lose, I'm making my opponent sit there and watch me dredge all round long...

It's waaay to random is what I'm trying to say.
It's called a variety of interests, my good man.
And I think the R/ would be the mafia whereas the R/ would be street gangs.

Yours needs to be updated, too, mate.
Also, su-chi is a slightly (/sarcasm) more expensive investment than cathodion.
True...but it's the original, and the better of the two!
Or, just copy this:
