4 books on a camping trip, Mike? You're not exactly packing light, are ya?
Dave, that guy was a real piece of work. People like that always have and always will exist... I guess my personal belief is that if I just stay away from them I'll be happier for it. I don't try and change them or confront them.
So Jonski and I played some AIM Magic early this morning. I played my burn deck and he played a Rock varient. We each won a game. So I guess we need a tie-breaker sometime? Best play I made was a turn 5 Fireblast for the win. Pretty amazing considering he'd already dropped TWO Hierarchs to gain 8 life. He worked me over solidly in the other game with Trinisphere and Root Maze, ouch. GGs man!
We also talked about backbenching Cubers until further notice. What does everyone else think about that?

I dislike people like that as well. No fun to work with. I get a few angry customers on the phones now and then, I've been lucky that I haven't gotten the real jerk yet...but I will. I've just been taught how to do web board at godaddy...thats where I respond to emails about problems. I am so tempted to just tell people off on that. I'm not sure why, I mean I read someone being a jerk or an idiot and I just really want to let them have it.
I'm kind of mad at my computer right now. I always leave it shut down or sleeping when I leave my home. So today I get back after being gone for about three days and find it sitting here on. Some messages from Mike trying to say hi to me sitting on aim. I've had the computer turn on automatically before, a few times the top was even down on it. I think it has something to do with sleep mode and some sort of automated check the computer runs. Really annoys me as I don't need it running 24/7.

Currently playing UT3, anyone want to play too? i'm Diggy56 on the PS3 network thingy
Customers are just retarded here, theres a big factory outside the station where they leave their brains before entering. My favourites is the ones who always complain about prices, yes they are expensive but what can i do? I just say they can go elsewhere if they want.
And I am The_Numberless on the PSN... and the only game of mine I actually play online is UT3, so this is kind of a match made in heaven.
That being said, I'm pretty sure 'customer' comes from the Latin word for 'complete and total windowlicker.' Granted, this title is not always fitting of someone seeking to pay for services, the vast majority of the time it is apropos, and thereby I can see where the use of reference to windowlickers would come from.
And if you need to check me on that fact, I read it. In a book. On the Discovery Channel. Or maybe National Geographic Channel.
Point is. Customers = stupid, for 90% or more of that which we would deem 'customer.'

Charlie man....i dig the Photo Safari! Snap some good animal pelts...get them in their natural environment. Let me know if you see Kanga and Roo anywhere. You know....I got a question...what the hell were two kangaroos doing hanging out with a tiger, a bear, a pig and a donkey? And why didn't they have an accent?? I guess the same reason the tiger didn't sound like he was from India....oh well!
Tomorrow's the big day! Looking foward to getting out there and swaping spit with the common man. The smells...the funny hats...the cool hip lingo that these young gents attempt to spew from their honky blood lips. The comedy of it all...all gathered in one place. And to top it off...it's in Philly. No one in Philly can dress properly. Lots of gold dhains, slicked back hair, chest hair primped and preened. Skin a glisten with oils and scents. There is going to be so much musk oil in the air there.....I may come home a better man. My with think I was at a greek orgy.

Well, Ria whipped my sorry black @ss last night.. I went 0-2. I tried a :symg::symw: Extended and a :symr::symg: Extended Aggro deck. I got shafted for mana though, maybe I should run more than 21 lands. Neither deck was a match for his T1 (powerless) Scepter/Zoo thing he was playing. Lightning Helix was mvp. Maybe next time I'll break out the Scepter/Chant or T&N.

This is a very cool idea. I'm guessing it's actually a bit powerful right now since it can win a game by attacking, + could drop this turn 2 no problem so making it 0/1 (à la BoPs or Xantid Swarm) + cost less, or just making it 0/2, is prolly called for. Glad you liked the Runetail. I agree he might be a little too powerful. I originaly cost him 2WG at 0/3. Then, with Chris' help, decided for flavor reasons he should only be green. I could either go GGG, 2GG or 3G. But then, I figured a 0/3 didn't feel like a little Finch. I changed it to 1/1 and the card had more appeal at 1GG. Anyone else got some thoughts?

Went out for a nice Thai dinner (lots of curry, spice, and coconut milk!) last night, followed by a trip down memory lane. We went downtown Vancouver and to the Blarney Stone, an old Irish bar in gastown. Essentially, 19-23 year old college kids hopping around like they're Irish and/or like they enjoy Irish "music", which is nothing more than a rhythmic undulating of some instruments, especially a high pitched piccolo or something. It hasn't changed a lick since I used to hang out there when I was 21 or 22, except that it now costs TEN BUCKS to get in, they use a metal detector to search you for guns at the door, and everybody on the dance floor has a digitial camera in one of their outstretched hands, filming themselves and the person next to them jumping up and down like they're Irish. The interior of the place is the same, the music is the same (I think it's still the same live band), the beer's the same. I was DD so I got to watch my friends drink a lot, waste money, and hit on girls ineffectively. Yawn!

I should do that. I have the whole seasons on loan from my brother, and I've already seen the first 5 or 6 episodes, but I forget them, it's been too long (I was still living with my ex when I watched them, on TV). So I'll watch the whole season with ya!

I don't really like the finch, but I like the ability of gaining life off mana being drawn. Thats probably a little too much life, though. Especially if drawing mana from 7 lands triggers it 7 times
Well...I'm home. And by the looks of me being home this early, it can onlymean one thing...I suck at Magic. Round 1, Goblins. He's on the draw and plays a fetchland, gets a Blood Crpyt, plays 2x Chrome Mox and plays Goblin Warchief and hits me for 2. Next turn he Ringleaders, and then does it again. I hate Goblins. I lose. Match 2 I play RDW. I win because of Exalted. I'm 1-1 now. Match 3 I play RDW. I lose because he hits me with direct damage evey play. I'm at 1-2 now. I start round 4 and play RDW. He has 4x Magus of the Moon and 4x Blood Moon main deck. I scream with all the force in my body, and drop 1-3.
I suck. I sell a bunch of cards. I'm done.

Damn Jonski, I don't know what to say.. My heart sank as I read your post. It didn't even sound like the Jonski I know. Don't be so down on yourself man. Every Magic player has a bad day now and then.
There were a couple things I was gonna talk about, but..
...I am at a loss..
.
.
Man, jj. How blah. If I had any complaint about competitive constructed formats, it would be facing the same deck round after round.
In related news, it looks like if we had kept tweaking that :symw::symb: Tallowisp deck towards :symg::symw: like we discussed, we'd have stumbled on what appears to be hot + fun Ext tech right now. Who knew?
Well, I got to play some MTG tonight IRL for the first time in a while! It was my best friend, his wife and I. They know how to play but don't own any cards. When we do play, we just play with my decks = that is my meta. ..But anyway, we were able to get in 2x games. Here is how it went.
Game 1:
:symg::symu: Control vs. Mono vs. :symb::symg:
For the first good part of the game I was able to keep all threats off the board. Cancel, Hinder, Cryptic Command, and Voidslime were able to counter anything they attempted to lay out. Plow Under and Temporal Spring bounced their lands to the tops of their libraries, while the typical fetch spells built up my mana base to prepare for Rude Awakening. But there is only so much this deck can do in a 3x player game. Once they were able to sneak a Spirit Monger here and a Kokusho there, I was a sitting duck for the most part. I was able to get off one Rude Awakening but was denied in the form of a Tangle. Ashley played a Damnation witch turned the tables on the rest of us b/c it killed her Kokusho gaining her 10 life. The Damnation also hurt my mana base as I had 2x Dryad Arbor in play. A couple turns later I was dead.. :symb::symg: ended up winning the game thanks to Nettlevine Blight believe it or not.
Game 2:
:symw::symb: SoulBlossom vs. DragonBurn vs. :symb::symg:
I start out with a perfect hand. First turn I play a Caves of Koilos and Chrome Mox(Imprinted w/ Dark Confidant) to play Bitterblossom. Next turn I get out a Soul Warden and my combo was in full effect. Thoughtseize works great to eliminate threats before they become a problem. Before I knew it I had 2x Soul Warden and 2x Bitterblossom out and was gaining momentum pumping out the little 1/1 buggers for free. By the time I had both opponents below 10 life and had 9x 1/1 flyers on my side, I thought I had it made. But then the DragonBurn throws out one of Bitterblossom's most feared cards: Pyroclasm. Now I have no more creatures and am left holding a bill of loss of 2x life per turn. Ashley plays a Zirilan of the Claw and begins pulling dragons out of her butt. That plus a Flamebreak proves fatal and DragonBurn wins.
Well, I hope you enjoyed the read. I hope someone reads it and I didn't just do it for nothing.
Those looked like some fun games. Bummer on not doing well JJ, sometimes that happens. Just need to keep up with that.
I played in a little type 2 tournament with Nick today. He built a fairies deck and gave it to me to play. It had a pretty good sideboard, but I couldn't really make heads or tails of it. Had great cards I thought would have been maindecked and wasn't sure what exact meta needed what card. Ah well, I improvised.
Round 1 I play against a Blue Black deck that was similar to mine except it ran fairies that captured my creatures and Mulldrifter with manikin. I was seeing some rediculous card advantage that later was my undoing.
Round 2 I play against some sort of greenish deck. He really didn't do much more than lose to me. I don't even remember what he played.
Round 3 was against another blue black deck running mulldrifter and manikin. Learning from my past I knew what would happen. He drew alot of cards and with tricks like damnation took out my synergy and left me on the draw.
The last game here I had a perfect hand. Bitterblossom, blackguard, and loxadon. Problem was he had a more perfect hand. a turn one thoughtsieze took out the bitterblossom and a pithing needle left loxodon a dead card in my hand. I lost here quickly.
Round 4 was against a black fairies deck. First game I came out strong and beat him hard. Game 2 we stalled out against each other. he had a bitterblossom and blackguard and I had two bitterblossoms. He'd attack with a 2/2 and I'd double block. ten turns of that and guess what I died to. Game three just sucked. I won, but my opponent drew 11 land out of 13 cards.
So 2/2 for me. Nick unfortunatly didn't do too hot, but I think he got unlucky. He doesn't seem to care to talk much about his matches. Either that or I just talk to much in general.
Cheers,
Daggertooth

Dave, I read your "tourny" report and actually that's pretty cool. I liked the play by play! thanks for sharing.
Curtis and I have been playtesting decks lately.
He's tuning his U/G madess deck for Legacy (I think he should put in Intuitions) and I'm still working on my burn deck.
My burn deck won the first game really quickly, as he build up to his Arrogant Wurm off a Mongrel turn 3, I was burning him for 22 by turn 4.
His U/G deck won game two buy countering a couple spells that woulda done 6 damage. My deck has to rely on topdecks after turn 4 or 5 if it hasn't won. I was a few damage short and even my Barbarian Ring couldn't win it for me.
Next, my burn deck cleaned him out down to 3 and he couldn't even flash back his Deep Anal. He got a Roar of the Wurm token going, and followed that up by Aquamoeba, Mongel, and Rootwalla. I knew he had a counter in hand, and all I had left was a Fireblast. I drew into....... Flame Rift. Hmmmm! As he'd been building his army, he'd got me down to 4. So Flame Rift woulda been for the tie. BUT, I knew he had the counter. So I cast Flame Rift, and not wanting to end in a tie, he countered it. I responded by sacking 2 mountains ftw.
That's funnier and funnier the more I think about it. It's not like he's really paying for it. He's just an unhappy camper and nothing will make him better. Not even a long slow professional bj could make that prick smile!!

Especially if drawing mana from 7 lands triggers it 7 times
.
I suck. I sell a bunch of cards. I'm done.
talk to you tomorrow.
jj the sucky suck store!
There were a couple things I was gonna talk about, but..
...I am at a loss..

In related news, it looks like if we had kept tweaking that :symw::symb: Tallowisp deck towards :symg::symw: like we discussed, we'd have stumbled on what appears to be hot + fun Ext tech right now. Who knew?
Bed Time...

Cheers,
Daggertooth
For my heart had not denied me and I have somewhere to go.
