we do hear CCR, so dont feel bad, its just sometimes things get buried, or we start reading a post we want to answer to and then also find like 3 more and the first one we wanted to answer to skips our mind (not everyone here likes to do multi quote :p).
Happens to me a lot so its not really that new, you just gotta keep on talking... anyways its not like we are here to get attention we are here to chat... and like all conversations sometimes some topics get buried over the conversation of others, one just has to flow with the conversation
Quoted for Truthery, my friend......
To Hunter and CCR, you're probably right, not being here for a while does cause it to not quite stand out when you post... Usually when people are around for a while and post true meaningful content, that's when they get noticed... For Mr. Stuff's comments.... I don't think its nearly that bad, that we need to instill a rule or anything like that... I"ve always been a HUGE stickler to the whole idea of being able to talk about whatever, whenever, however we want.... If we start instiling rules and stuff like that, people will just begin to feel constrained and not comfortable expressing themselves.... at least it isn't spam, you have to admit that! Some people will respond to what feels relevant to them... Can't remember who said that, I think it was Alacar. Whenever I post here, I read back however many pages I missed and then if I start to notice a lot of stuff I want to respond to, I will use multi-quote, but if its only one or two things, I"ll shoot 'em out through verbal quoting (example: "Mr. Stuff said a few pages back that he likes museums, I do too, and..." etc) But sometimes there's just nothing really relevant to my interests- For instance, when the only subject for three pages has been Magic and decklists Thats when I will just pop in, say hi, and talk about what's going on with me, cuz I care baout you guys and want you to know what's up with me, plus give you something to respond to, if you don't want to respond to wahtever else is in-thread, cuz if people like me didn't do that, one topic would randomly clog the thread for a few days or weeks What we do here is maintain the real sense of what a conversation is.... a lot of people at once, its almost nearly impossible to hold ONE conversation, there will undoubtedly nearly always be some form of "Side" convos going on... Like Alacar said, its what grabs ones attention when they read back a bit. Some people DON'T read back, and that annoys me a little bit, because people put forth a lot of effort to write their thoughts, feelings and emotions, and then if they don't even get read....? That's been something going on for quite some time here... Back in the early days, Photon, Arguas, a few other people and I would raise holy hell if someone didn't read back Its just... you're a part of our "family" and if you are, you should care enough about everyone else, enough to read back a page or two... Now, if you've been gone for 6 weeks, i totally understand you wouldn't want to read back... I still would (lol) but that's just me, I feel that kind of honor and obligation because I'm the hostess/co-founder/owner of the CoffeeHouse. .......Ok I should probably get off my soapbox now
I cannot be put on an ignore list. EVERYONE has to listen to me.
In all seriousness though, I think its because we all are talking about different things, and respond to the things relevant to our conversation.
Aaah it was Yuanti that said that relevance thing! Thanks, man.. That really helped my argument above, as you undoubtedly just read I am happy, and extraordinarily honored that such elite members of the forums such as you, Kraj, AoK, Krash, SapphireTri, and other moderators have chosen to come here and cool your heels when you're not busy

To those that say they never want fetch: why are you guys so anti fetch? They aren't weren't pricy (I don't follow the prices anymore). I mean look at garuk at tarmogoyf. Those cards are a lot more expensive!
Well garruk is because of the format but tarmogoyf is an all format card which literally made everyone and their grannies who where playing even a single green source auto-include them in their deck. fetches are also all format cards, the only reason their price was dropping was because of the expected rotation, now im expecting it to rise again

Don't risk your only running computer on account of us, I wouldn't want to be suddenly sans-Alacar just cuz you want to get the game moving...
Who's your fave NPC? Alacar (the char, not saying Alacar)?
I'm doing okay Danica -- procrastinating when I should be going school work, but eh... bloody school.
I agree on reading back -- everyone should. I do myself, just to make sure I don't miss anything.
Yeah, I truly agree on that because its so important for everyone to be connected in a community such as this one, that we understand what's happening, and quite a bit of the time, sometimes a convo doesn't make sense two pages later if you haven't read the last two pages
Also, procrastinating is the devil.. I'm doing it right now, posting on here when I should be working on that damn article
Lol...I dont feel bad because of anything like that, I just feel depressed, I have been for a while, but I try to not let it get to me. Sometimes it does, other times it doesnt.

haha... I always like talking to you, its just been busy and a lot of times when I think of you, you're not online or something... I understand that people think their work is more important than talking to friends, and to a degree it is, but oftentimes I will let you know if something's going on that I need to focus on, so..
I'm actually excited about April because at the beginning of April, my friend Diedre who lives in California now, is coming to visit Rochester... We went to high school together then at the end of April, my friends Aaron and Justin (Aaron and Justin both graduated from RIT, different times, Aaron lives in Arizona and graduated with a Bachelors degree in the same ceremony i did in May 2007, Justin graduated with an Associates Degree about 2 years ago, so I haven't seen him in 2 years, he lives in Pittsburgh, PA) will be coming to visit for a concert- Jimmy Eat World, plus to visit... Plus, around the same time, my good friend Luke who also graduated in the same Bachelors Degree ceremony as me, lives in Colorado, will be coming down to visit for the end of April, so I'm very excited to see some old friends of mine this next month.... March will be a little boring though... Oh and also, the 2 year anniversary of the CoffeeHouse will be April 19th!! And coincidentally, that same weekend is the Shadowmoor prerelease, if they haven't changed the date.
Sep, don't worry about being offensive. I'm a big girl and know the difference between in character and out of character. My character Aliiryn is a *****. Everyone knows that. She also would stand in front of a charging giant to protect Orvel because she cares for him as a brother, though that probably annoys him to no end She just rags on him because 1. it's easy to do and 2. that's her personality- she *****ed out Elminster for crying out loud.
Metagaming is taking excessive OOC knowledge in character- it's like having ranks in Knowledge (Monster Manual) and actually using it in game. That, and it can be extended into having preknowledge of the campaign, if it's a published adventure, or if it's based on novels.
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

@CCR: well im not the most savvy cookie when it comes to Extended Market... your best chances where before the B/R notice... but yeah the faster the better i guess... however try to consult with Brandon or some other respected member who is knowledgeable in the field
.....How is it difficult to stay IC, and not be offensive?? O.o And taking it too far...? I would think if someone knows you're just playing a CHARACTER....?
well this is pretty simple... sometimes i adopt a personality which i myself may not be to comfortable with or which is a side effect of a character trait i wanted to include in a character... as such sometimes i have to make sure that i do not cross a line, while at the same time making sure it still looks like the character ideal i had when i created it (im a frustrated thespian :D), it doesnt matter if anyone actually GETS offended, if i do something IC that i would otherwise find to be offensive i would be dissapointed... im weird
And btw, can somebody please explain to me what metagaming is? I've been wondering that for a while now actually.
Metagaiming, i cant find a way to explain it hopefully alacar will. well Jen sarnath'd me here

Intriguing...... Being weird is never a bad thing And looks like AoK beat you/Alacar to the punch
Too many posts to read (but I read them all anyways....what does that say about me?)
I played my EDH deck yesterday, dropped a whole 1 game where my general was returned to my library (that sucked), but otherwise I won.
I'm bored, and need a job, and need to fix my car, and etc. Anyone got an extra 500$ layin around so that I can fix my car? (I promise I'd pay you back)
And honestly, I would lend you the money if I could.. I need to pay my credit card bill, pay rent, buy groceries for the week, and then I'm trying to save up money for flying to Oregon and South Carolina this summer, so I need to watch it a little bit... If I pay all my bills and get on top of it all, I might be able to send you a bit... likely not too much tho, but if you would pay me back, taht would be great.

Elder Dragon Highlander. 100 unique cards, one of which is a unique Legendary Creature ("the general"), all other cards must be entirely within the colors of the "general", and has its own B&R list.
Ok, I think I'm going to get off here and TRY to do some work, and maybe take a walk in this nice warm weather (33 degrees..... oy... I never thought I'd say 33 degrees was warm... :p) before my friend Bob comes over
Good lord there were a lot of posts in the last few hours. Some of this stuff may be redundant and this could be a very long post, so I apologize in advance, but here goes.
Krash thats only true for Orvel i dont think you have any proof of this being the case for Tikki, Clikz and Criva (Active, Dead, Not started, in that order :p)
And Fransisco. So far your 2 for 2 in games I pay attention to.
:o.....O My Goodness.....I just read the B/R list/ announcment...Mainly regarding Extended(you would think I would keep on top of these things:rolleyes:).
Interesting. I don't really like the idea of the new system. Rotating Standard every year made sense because it was so small and you have to keep it moving, but extended should sit stationary for a little while and let people develop things.
You have to rotate it once and a while (obviously, it's not eternal), but I actually thought it would be best if they rotated two blocks and one core set every three years. That way it would grow by one block every rotation. That way it would grow in size as Magic did, but not as fast as the eternal formats (so, as one would expect, it would grow at a speed between vintage/legacy (fast) and Standard (not at all)).
I have had 0 fetches ever since I started playing the game, and I doubt I'll ever pick up any more until it rotates (which I doubt--they're still smexy in Legacy)
I started playing seriously when Mirrodin came out, and I didn't want to spend the kind of money necessary to get fetches while they were in standard, so I don't think I've ever had more than a few of them at any one time. And even then, I just had them as trade material and never actually planned on using them in a deck.
The only situation in which I could see myself going out and getting fetches is if I get into Legacy in a few years (likely after Onslaught block rotates out of Extended). I can honestly say that's a possibility, but I definitely wouldn't say it's likely.
EDIT: w00t! 7 people viewing thread! And does anybody NOT like the new Report Post button? Its annoying me cuz I really don't want to report my post when I mean to edit!
I actually really like the new report button. It can be annoying when you go to edit your post and accidentally hit it, but it should be blatantly obvious very quickly what you did. And, there are two simple ways of getting back to exactly where you were without actually reporting your post. I will direct you to this post.
Regarding Half-Life: No way I'm getting my PC running just yet, so I'm willing to risk trying to play the PC game on this old clunker to get the game running here soon.
Curse of the Azure Bonds just got a lot more interesting, actually, and it's the first time I'll get to use my favorite NPC online.
Take your time on Half-Life. As Omna said, I'd rather you not kill your computer and really disappear for a while just trying to get that running. We can definitely wait until you have a fully functional (and reasonably high quality) system going.
Also, Curse of the Azure Bonds definitely looks to be getting interesting. Elminster is always fun, and the next section already looks like it could be very interesting.
I leave you guys alone for 36 hours and you tack on 2 more pages...typical coffeehouse...:p
well, my parents shot down the reinstatement chance, so now everything is back at home, and since they blame MTG for causing my bad grades, they've taken all my cards. (don't have the extended deck, though, and I'm not planning on telling them )
so I likely won't be at the next PTQ, since getting a job and driver's liscene take a bit more priority. I might be able to get to the GP if I have a car by then, and according to the dean of student affairs, re-admission this fall is a definite possibility for me. so I'm just taking 5 months to work, maybe build up a bit better work ethic, as well as some cash to (hopefully) buy a clunker.
my internet usage is a bit more, but still restricted. I'll be on hopefully at least twice a day.
I'm not really bitter about the situation, just a bit dissapointed. but the wind was calm today, a good sign for me if nothing else.
hope you all have a nice week!

.....How is it difficult to stay IC, and not be offensive?? O.o And taking it too far...? I would think if someone knows you're just playing a CHARACTER....?
And btw, can somebody please explain to me what metagaming is? I've been wondering that for a while now actually.
Don't risk your only running computer on account of us, I wouldn't want to be suddenly sans-Alacar just cuz you want to get the game moving...
Who's your fave NPC? Alacar (the char, not saying Alacar)?
Yeah, I truly agree on that because its so important for everyone to be connected in a community such as this one, that we understand what's happening, and quite a bit of the time, sometimes a convo doesn't make sense two pages later if you haven't read the last two pages
Also, procrastinating is the devil.. I'm doing it right now, posting on here when I should be working on that damn article

@Omna- Maybe we can talk again sometime:p;).
Metagaming is taking excessive OOC knowledge in character- it's like having ranks in Knowledge (Monster Manual) and actually using it in game. That, and it can be extended into having preknowledge of the campaign, if it's a published adventure, or if it's based on novels.

well this is pretty simple... sometimes i adopt a personality which i myself may not be to comfortable with or which is a side effect of a character trait i wanted to include in a character... as such sometimes i have to make sure that i do not cross a line, while at the same time making sure it still looks like the character ideal i had when i created it (im a frustrated thespian :D), it doesnt matter if anyone actually GETS offended, if i do something IC that i would otherwise find to be offensive i would be dissapointed... im weird
Metagaiming, i cant find a way to explain it hopefully alacar will. well Jen sarnath'd me here
I cetainly have no issue with that There IS something called clicking my username and typing a message, y'know
Interesting.... that's pretty cool Thanks for the great explanation
Intriguing...... Being weird is never a bad thing And looks like AoK beat you/Alacar to the punch

EDIT: Whee!! 10 more posts til i hit 2,700!

Elder Dragon Highlander. 100 unique cards, one of which is a unique Legendary Creature ("the general"), all other cards must be entirely within the colors of the "general", and has its own B&R list.

And Fransisco. So far your 2 for 2 in games I pay attention to.
That Naruto one is amazing and hilarious. I'm not a big Naruto fan, but I know enough about it to just be laughing at who's in that.
I actually really like the new report button. It can be annoying when you go to edit your post and accidentally hit it, but it should be blatantly obvious very quickly what you did. And, there are two simple ways of getting back to exactly where you were without actually reporting your post. I will direct you to this post.

I don't care if I was framed for murder if I only got a warning I would let it go.
well, my parents shot down the reinstatement chance, so now everything is back at home, and since they blame MTG for causing my bad grades, they've taken all my cards.

My favorite NPC? Alacar Leoricar, of course. Not the one from Godslayer, though very similar.
