Hey, a free demigod of revenge is a free demigod of revenge. I just wish Daarken could have done the art for the promo like Korlash.
Very true. Thats what happened with my playset of Korlash. I have 2 pre-release ones and 2 regualr ones, though I am not a fan of the Korlash Pre-release promo's art, to be honest.
On a side note, what ever happened to discussion of a new thread. Are we going to get one started or are we going to wait for Shadowmoor. If we do decided to get a new thread going, I really think it should reflect Shadowmoor in someway.

I wanted the 'killing tarmogoyf since 2007' name. Really despise that thing; shriekmaws alone cannot express my outtrage that it wasn't printed in the best color of Magic.
Regarding Shadowmoor, I think we should wait before declaring it Torment 2.0. Remember how everyone was talking about how Loyrwn's happy sunlight would be our downfall? Well, we got shriekmaws, profane commands, oona's prowlers and thoughtseizes out of the it. White got nothing. It would ironic if the opposite were true for Shadowmoor.
I still vote for: Shadowmoor! [Clan Mono-Black].
Anyway, I'll give it until post 1000, then auto make the next thread. Until then, come to a concensus on the thread title.

I thought I'd share a little something with everyone here which I feel epitomizes the plight of a Mono-Black player:
I was actually hoping to see the 4th to give the image some completeness, but as always, I'm left disappointed.
Wow, that's alot of o-rings. I mostly play causal, so I'm not worried with stuff like oblivion stone.
@ Svogthir: Couldn't we have something more complete than the name of the block? The slogan 'Darkness falls on magic' was a good idea (assuming we're not 'gofy hating anymore).
I am, honestly, unimpressed with your deck building skills. The (almost)singleton system of your deck shows no attempt at synergy, and infact is even worse than the Xth precon, an ironically bad accomplishment. Due to the fact that Gathan Raiders is in your deck, it is not even Mono Black! I would not be supprised if you just picked 40 odd random black cards, added in 2 Gathan Raiders, a Spawning Ground, and 18 Swamps and posted it on my Clan's thread. I am truly appaled with your submission and do not wish someone of your skill level tarnishing the name of [Clan Mono-Black]. I here by refuse your entry into my Clan until you have proven your deck building skills have improved. That said, I do wish you to continue in your quest to join us. Also, is in your better intrest to use Magic Workstation, a free computer program that allows you to build and test decks.

The maindeck is pretty standard given the tools we have to work with I think. I've done a lot of switching with Phyrexian Ironfoot and Epochrasite in the Augur of Skulls slot, but right now I'm liking the versatility that the Augur offers. I've been planning on eventually getting Mutavault to run in place of the Deserts to try to give the deck a bit of extra speed in terms of getting people within Profane Command range, because sometimes you just don't draw any pressure and eventually die to some random 2/2's or Beast tokens despite seeing loads of removal throughout the course of the game. Still, Desert has been pretty good recently, particularly in light of opposing Bitterblossoms and the various accompanying Faeries.
The sideboard is where I have a little more trouble trying to come up with an optimal lineup. I'd like to run Pithing Needle to deal with obnoxious Planeswalkers, but I don't like devoting too many slots to both the Needles and Extirpate, both of which can be pretty embarrassing to play against decks that aren't as dependent on single card strategies as mine is to Korlash or Bitterblossom, for example. Bottle Gnomes are for extra lifegain against the increasingly popular stupid red decks, which are all over MTGO at least. Slaughter Pact is something I randomly started running again only recently as a kneejerk reaction to losing to Gargadon and random Griffin Guides one too many times - I'm pretty sure this can be replaced. Deathmark of course is for Doran and company, while Sudden Spoiling can be either for random aggro stalling or a situational means to making Chameleon Colossus manageable.
It's oblivion ring, and ok, if the other guy gets to draw 3 out of 4 what can you do..
You could always thoughtseize some annoying stuff out of the opp's hand.

I got 3 BB Obv Ringed vs Kithkin, its such an annoying card, I didn't lose but it did end up using Damnations to take out 2 Colossus, I hate that card .

Yeah, I like the sounds of that one, its just got a dark feeling to it.
Also, any confirmation on me joining the clan? my deck a few pages back ;).
trife: now that is what I call a deck submission! I like the take on Korlash Control.
Jimbyob: I'd like you (and trife) to continue posting on a trial basis. This is to make sure you aren't just asking to join and never show up again. With time and continued support of the clan you both may become members.

I am playing a similar deck (as you said, the main deck is sort of standard, but I don't have time to test Type 2 since my area is more of a limited/draft friendly kind.
I wanted to ask, how is bitterblossom working for you?
I mean it's almost always worse than your opps bitterblossom, can't deal with chameleon colossus, and a single token doesn't really kill anything at all by blocking it (besides some random goblins).
I know it's annoying when playing against it, but how good is it in this kind of deck, faeries always have either scion of oona, or rendelhaven. and they can use it as spellstutter fodder and clique championee?
And as a 4-of, don't you ever get stuck with a copy or 2 in hand?
How is your deck working in certain matchups?
Mine has a problem with the damn faeries, and non-combo reveillark is sometimes a problem too (tempo decks in general)
More often than not, I'm perfectly content with playing Bitterblossom as a Forcefield, so in that respect it's been absolutely stellar for me. Having a Desert or two out to work with the tokens doesn't hurt either.
As far as facing down opposing Bitterblossoms, I completely agree that ours are almost always worse, since we lack the various pump effects that you mentioned. Still, at this point in time, if you're playing black at all, I think you pretty much have no choice but to engage in the Bitterblossom wars, if only to keep up with theirs.
I did run it as a 3-of (with the 4th in the board) for a while, but I prefer to maximize my chances of getting one down on turn 2 and hopefully having it go unchecked, particularly in game 1. From there I might go back down to 3 after boarding (or just take all of them out, particularly against red), depending on how necessary (or dangerous) my own Bitterblossoms are to my survival against the opposing deck. With regard to getting stuck with multiples in your hand, yeah, sometimes it happens (and sometimes you can afford to play the multiples and just win), but I just consider myself extra-lucky in those situations, since it's much more common for me to be running 4 and to never see a single one until I'm 15+ cards in. If Shadowmoor gives the deck some sort of legitimate draw engine, or at least some tutor/deck manipulation effect that's faster than Liliana, then 3 is probably the right number. So long as we're just living and dying by the shuffler though, I'll be sticking with the full count.
Faeries are easily the worst matchup for this deck, which means that any of us still playing the deck right now are either ridiculously stubborn (me) or just stupid for sticking with it. As much as Bitterblossom helps MBC patch up a few of its many weaknesses, the way the card puts Faeries over the top is simply disgusting. But hey, that's the tribal block for you. I guess you could try Festercreep as a backup Damnation or two. Outside of that, you just have to hope that more people start playing red decks.
Lark has been a relatively unfavorable matchup for me, for exactly the reason you mentioned, tempo. Lately I've been siding out Korlash completely in this matchup (or just leaving a singleton to tutor for or eventually draw in to) because all he does is suck up your mana and then get bounced. I actually like Extirpate here (I usually don't), not really for obvious combo disruption, but just to deny them of their Mulldrifters and make my discard plan a little less embarrassing. I had a few copies of Mind Shatter in the sideboard for a bit; I might give those another try. I'm not a fan of the card, but the way people are right now with the Mulldrifters and Harmonizes, sometimes you just have to go X=5, if only to make yourself feel better.

So there you have it. Thoughts?
I love the idea of the deck, but it needs a bit more focusing. If your meta is mostly aggro, the decklist is great. However, you have mentioned faeries and lark giving you a hard time, for which I'd suggest running some more discard, ala Stupor or Hyppie.
If you want a card-drawing engine, I'd suggest either a singleton or double Graveborn Muse. She's slower than the arena, and has a huge target on her head, but makes up for it if you have a Korlash in play with her.
It's nice to see new faces around here... keep posting!

Not that bad news for me... I got till October to abuse those two... MWAHAHAHAH!!
As for the promo art... it looks like Mr. Wenus indeed, but I find it rather creepy as well. It's not THAT bad, IMO. It's no Clergy en-Vec.
