BTW: why isn't "ghoul" a creature type itself? They seem like some kind of elite-zombie to me, so they could have at least added it as a subtype in their race/class model (zombie, ghoul).
It looks to me like Wizards is deprecating all the undead creature types besides Zombie, Vampire, Shade, and Spirit. I don't blame them because frankly, who wants random Wights, Mummies, and Banshees.
Since synide steped down I don't think we have had a clan rep. I'd like to nominate Black Dawn and beinghumanbean, you two have been with the clan a while and have shown dedication that some before you lacked (and we really should get bean a title).
Got my rewards today and the Cruel Edict art is awsome, kinda a throw back to the original portal art. Also got my 3rd textless pyroclasim, which would be cool if I played with them but the only time I ever needed them was the one time I played vore.
@ tinvision: Have they done mummies? Holy crap I guess they have. Well if they stick to more uniformed creature types then the tribes can fill out a little better, I mean if there is 4 types of undead creature types doing a undead deck becomes hard since they all would need different things to work right.
Also just for kicks I googled boggart, and the wikipedia defenition is this:
Quote from Wikipedia »
For boggarts from the Harry Potter novels, see boggart (Harry Potter). In British folklore, a boggart (or bogart, bogan, bogle or boggle) is a household spirit, sometimes mischievous, sometimes helpful. In Northern England, at least, there was the belief that the boggart should never be named, for when the boggart was given a name, it would not be reasoned with or persuaded and become uncontrollable and destructive.
It is said that the boggart crawls into people's beds at night and puts a clammy hand on their faces. Sometimes he strips the bedsheets off them. Sometimes a boggart will also pull on a person's ears. A horseshoe hung on the door of a house will keep a boggart away.
One of the most common tales told of a boggart is that whenever a family can not put up with its pranks any more and moves to avoid it, it will pack up its bags and move with them -- a trait it shares with the clurichaun. The family may hear him packing, or hear him say that he is moving too. [1]
Everything else pretty much says the same thing, their kinda imp like in appearance (found a couple drawings) and are mostly just trouble makers, when named they become destructive.
What do you think of Thrull Surgeon? Does anyone think that's decent enough to see play? Augur of Skulls hasn't seen much play, and it's not exactly the worst 2 drop in the world...
I beg to differ. Augur of skulls is a 4 of in every Rack deck and is used in block constructed extensively (Korlash, MBC).
Much better than the Surgeon unless we get a way to recur Surgeon each round like in the old days.

Augurs of skulls: Sees play in Korlash control and Rack decks (as mentioned by zombiemachine. It allows turn 3 stupor + augur sac, which almost always clears hand. Can be use as a blockers as late games due to regen.
Thrull surgeon: Requires a mana cost to activate ability. Nearly useless when opponent is down on cards. Distress (which happens to be the same set) is almost always superior due to a more competitive casting cost.
It's still not colorless, and has no color. That's a paradox. So either you're a Zen master or an idiot, I'll assume the Zen master for sake of argument. This card will have no paradoxes because it has a clear paradox. Deep stuff man.
Just passing by to say I will keep playing black, even though black is being this much shafted.
However, my MBC (casual) deck is still doing quite fine. I just love to abuse Temporal Extortion and Dash hopes, followed by a big drain life.

Oh, Singapore. My favorite seller on ebay lives there.
I'm from Germany, Bavaria. I usually go online after school (2 o'clock; GMT+1). Don't know what that would be in the US. But since school is over (for this year), time doesn't matter any more.

QFT means a couple of thing's, depending on the context of what is usually the situation. QFT used as "quiet ****ing/freaking true" is used to agree with some one. Example:
Quote from me »
2+2=4
QFT. A+ for effort.
Or the meaning "quoted for truth", is usually used when the only reply to the quote. Just kinda a quick way to say agree'd.
Kudos is just an old way of saying something like props.

Arizona, crappy south western state where almost every one thinks their a cowboy and unless you live in tucson or pheonix getting a consistant DCI sanctioned tournament is hard. I'm on though out the day depending on what day it is, wendsday and friday I'll be at the cardshop til they close and come home late, the rest of the week whenever I get home from work. My clocks is set to GMT -7.
The basic strategy is to annihilate the opponent as quickly as possible, while mantaining a higher life total than him (Shepherds don't kill me then). The 12 one-drops help get damage through very quickly (especially the Maggot Carriers, which also serve as expendable creatures for the Feeders and the Exhumers). The Crusaders are there for their cheap strength and evasion (though ProWhite isn't bad either). The Skulking Knights, Lords, and Warchiefs help deliver the fatal blow when they hit the table, and the Lords and Cemeteries act as my recycling plan for the Polluters and anything I sac to my creatures or the Exhumers. Grave Pact serves as mass removal when I have the Feeder in play, allowing me to kill pretty much anything in my path.
I ocassionally add a third Exhumer (61 cards) if I feel like it, but that's not the rule.
As for the sideboard, Infest serves as "fast" mass removal of cheap critters, and the Consume Spirits and Sudden Deaths are there to take care of big, bad-ass things I can't kill easily. The Infestations help me against control and/or land destruction decks, as I can get a constant supply of creatures into play without spending mana or spells. Finally, the Muses are there if I need a speed burst in my game.
As a side note, Black did end up a little beat up in Xth... Still, some cards have some good potential. It's always nice to see the Husk and the Consume Spirits back. Grave Pact isn't bad either... and I happen to have a soft spot in my heart for Phage. She was my favorite card when I still a n00b.
All we can really do is try and abuse whatever removal we got in Xth and wait for Lorwyn. Hopefully, we'll see some decent Zombies and Vamps in there.

Really? Nobody plays Rack in my Meta, so I guess that's where my ignorance comes from. Regardless, the Surgeon was always second best.
Then why don't you build it? It's fast, efficient, pretty cheap to build, owns most t2 decks that are not named gruul and most important of all - it's black.

Svogthir: Thank you for considering me to be part of the clan. I would also love any critiques on my deck, as I am always trying to find ways to improve it.
EDIT: What are these Clan Games? If there's any way I can help, I'll be more than glad to do so.
I'm dissapointed to say that I hardly find any competitive mono-black decks in my standard metagame (even if I seldom, if ever, play). Most have a second color in them, and rely on black for its control effects. I've yet to see someone with a mono-black Korlash deck. Hell, I miss the days where you could find competetitive Aggro or Beatdown decks in Black.
The Rack makes ocasional apperances, and generally does very well in tournaments. The only problem around here is getting the right cards to make the deck work.

True... Our time will come though. Just prepare for the day they reprint Dark Ritual or something. Also, Bogart looks like a really nice creature type to me. They'll probably have neat effects on a weak body, or really costly ones with a body and a nice effect, like (I think) black is supposed to have.

All the talk about rack decks makes me miss Nezumi Shortfang, sure it was a 1/1 for 1B, but it was reuseable instant speed discard and after they hit 0 cards in hand it became a 3/3 rack. Still have my playset.
@ RZArecter: If you don't mind a casual idea for :symub:, circu bounce was a fun pet deck for many before guild pact came out. Mostly combos off mark of eviction and come in to play effects like ravenous rats while circu just sat back slowly destroying their deck. The deck could win though attrition and with teferi out now and dely and remand you can really have some fun. Sadly I don't have any lists for it.
@ Uriel Coleridge: Always nice to see a new face around here.
Please consider me a noob, but I've been out of the game for months now, what with exams, travelling etc. Will rotation affect it in any way? If not, I would seriously take up your proposal
Well if I can be of any help, I'm happy to put in my 2 cents. There are several rack options out there. B/w is good but unplayable after rotation. B/r is decent, but imo, not better than monoblack, just different. B/g is probably the best right now, but shelling out 60$ on duals and 60-80$ on Tarmogoyfs is not something I'd recommend with a clear consciousness.
The deck loses Dark confidant after the rotation and that's a big blow, but in my games, I've found than more often than not he gets killed as soon as it enters play, could be replaced by Korlash or Tobstalker for added resiliency. The other loss is Cry of contrition, but I guess it can be replaced by Distress.
Other than that, everything else remains, including Stupor, Augur of skulls, Slaughter pact, Korlash (in some builds), The rack, Small pox, Call to the netherworld, Mindlash sliver, Funeral charm.
You might want to check out the threads in Standard, under "proven competitive".

I personally feel that Korlash is a tad too slow for the deck though. I tried him in my rack build, but with only 22 lands and 3 Phyrexian Totems to accelerate mana, It is pretty hard to cast him with regen mana open.

True, but the meta will slow a bit without Kird ape and Savannah lions. Pulling Korlash is not hard, I never bother with leaving mana open. Right now I use 2xTombstalker and no Korlash, but once Dark confidant leaves, Korlash is in.
Slaughter pact is better right now. You can safely tap out and still kill that nasty turn 3 Spectral force. That said, playing 2 of each is not a bad idea since you want a resolved Teferi dead as soon as possible. Not forgetting to pay the upkeep of the pact is a thing that happens often, so be careful.
Terror and last gasp are both good, but Last gasp will leave in 3 months and the choice will be much simpler.
