One of the zombies I killed was an accident, I jumped over a pit and fell over the zombie, I killed it with my weight..lol
I also power attack everything, and my AC is like jumbo.^_^
LOL, yes as you go on you level up a lot, so expect your fighter to be seeing a lot of combat.
My group has a lot of random things that happen in it, one time, we had an adventure where we all were in a bag of holding with a little town/doll house dungeon with rats. Our DM bent the rules a little bit, but that's why they're there. Either way, it was fun.

Anyone here play Advance Wars for the DS?
At least until the wizard learns polymorph.
I haven't played it more than a few minutes before on a ROM. I couldn't really get into it, personally.
Meanwhile, new avatar and banner in honor of my PnP Inn campaign. What do you think?

[16:23] Alacar Leoricar: maybe if you do it'll make the porn more meaningful
I'm pretty much just posting because I haven't for a while. Sorry for the chaff.
Spider-Man 3 was pretty good. (Venom was pretty good, he wasn't as bad as I feared he would be}
Pirates of the Carribean (did I spell that right?) was also pretty good. Better than the second but not as good as the first.
School's finally over (hurrah for graduation and the end of high school). So I should be able to post more actively (when I actually have something to say, which will probably be mostly in the P&PI.
@Photon Eater: as I said in the Broken Mandala, pretty creepy. Of course, I think you're going for the dark gothic type look.
Oh my God, that actually sounds really damn awesome. Sounds like a neat sort of "Wild Arms" setting. That would be really interesting, I think.
I'll have to look into it. I mean, God knows I can't really afford to squeeze ANOTHER game into my roster now, but God if I don't love inventive settings.
Incidentally, speaking of strange d20 system games, they have a game called Testament, which is a d20 game meant to emulate Biblical era fiction. It is basically a literal Judeo-Christian game, which I thought could be an interesting read.
Yes, I was enjoying the interaction. I'm glad that some people are getting fairly involved with the RP, and I'm hoping it encourages others to do so. I felt the encounter with the sisters was fairly tame, myself, but it will get worse. Running into them is never supposed to be a comfortable experience.
Another strange D20 game that I found and my group just loves is called "The End." It is a Judeo-Christian post-apocalyptic rpg. The premise is that the line in the Bible, "the meek shall inherit the Earth" was not a promise, but a warning. All those that didn't choose a side, be it good or evil, were left on Earth after the rapture. Those that were worthy went to heaven, those that were truly sinful went to hell, and the rest were stuck on Earth with no chance for an after life. There is only one class in the game, the meek, but after a few levels there are prestige classes that you can level into. The game I ran I had all of my friends make themselves, which was a blast to play in. I also found that when playing yourself, lots of annoying meta-gaming problems seem to fix themselves (I know this, but my character shouldn't/doesn't). Anywho, if you can find it anywhere, it is a fun game.
Phantom, do you happen to have the liber mechanika?
I am just getting into the game, and it has a pretty high learning curve, so I'm still at the basics.
@Photon - If that little lady in your banner is in our game... Hatcha!
Sounds like a pretty complicated game.
Well i just wanted to stop by and say hello to everyone. Just come home From my D&D. Yey my Human fighter leveled up to 2. I have now 22 HP and 19 AC. New Cleave feat and some bonus stats. Well more effort to go^_^
Hi guys.. Sorry I really haven't been active much lately.... *fearing the wrath of Photon and Ether for this* But I came here of my own accord... Unfortunately I haven't done a whole lot, gaming wise, but I'm helping Arguas with some of his Open Gaming System designing stuff...... on that note, can anyone think of a weapon that does cleaving?
I also have been playing New Super Mario Bros. and Cookin' Mama on my DS Lite, which have been fun, but I'm getting a little bored of them..... Castlevania, I've heard is a good game to look through.. I played a little bit of Portrait of Ruin.... Kinda cool how the girl is bookish and yea, nerdy all that book knowledge stuff..its awesome.... What's your general opinion of Castlevania.. I know overall its supposed to be a good game... but what are the better elements of it, and which DS version is the best to get for a beginning Castlevania player??
EDIT: Oh... you guys will probably think I'm lame for this, but I finished FF1 on the DS! :D:D:D So happy... I finished it awhile back, just never got around to telling you guys... That was my first ever completed game.. Granted, I didn't do all the bonus dungeons, but still.. I maxed out my characters' HP, MP and gil ! Anyway, I'm also in the phase of trying my damn hardest to beat Hercules in the Hercules Cup in the Coliseum in Kingdom Hearts 1.. I'm in the phase where I'm revisiting old worlds, to get all the extra stuff before I go to Hollow Bastion...
@photon: Love the new ava and banner. It looks very Ravenloft.
I just got ahold of some stuff from ebberon for the first time a couple days ago and have been absorbing the knowledge like a sponge. I love the theme behind the campaign. It's amazing. My DM-sense is tingling with this one.
@shah: Sorry, I don't have that one. Sounds like it'd be good though, if it has the same wonderous content as libris mortis(If you can't tell by my avatar, I love using undead).

@Phantom - It's cool man. Liber Mechanica is pretty cool. It's the ultimate book for mechanica in Iron Kingdoms, and has a very interesting PRC called Ironhead, who specialize in wearing steam powered armor.
I'm pretty deep into Iron Kingdoms, and I have one problem with it. It's a little self indulgent. The writers went overboard with some of the flavor fluff. It could have been interesting, but they just overdid certain aspects and it's annoying, and thanks to a poorly finished index, it's very tricky to find specific entries (The flavor fluff makes it feel like finding a needle in a haystack).
The mechanics for Mechanika are crazy complex as well, and while I'm sure it's cool once you figure it out, it makes the games learning curve a little high. I'm hoping that the Liber Mechanika fixes this. (Mechanika is a method of simulating magic items through technology.)

Alright.. inspired recently by Order of the Stick, I've been wondering.. for all you roleplayers out there..
Have you ever played/played with/DMed for a Fallen character? A character that has fallen from their class's grace, be it a Ranger, Paladin, Samurai, or what have you? If so, why did they fall, and how did they act before/afterward?
I played with someone who had a fallen monk. Basically, the DM decided that he wasn't being very lawful in his role-playing. Basically, nothing big, he just started leveling as a fighter that was chaotic...We turned it into a funny story on how the character had 2 personalities, and THAT really messed things up rules-wise.
Haha! Hey second editon FR wasn't like that! So there!
@Alacar - Yeah, I hate to beat a dead horse, but my Paladin Roland "fell from grace". When his wife died, he went against the wishes of his God, and lost his paladin status. He didn't become evil, but he did revert to his old ways. Before he became a paladin, he was a good but vengeful ranger and could be ruthless in battle, and when Pendalia died, he completly gave himself over to his old ways, sortof as a way to deal with the pain and in defiance of his God. He waged war against the bandit lords and demons that had contributed to her death (and he was powerful enough, both politically and personally, for this war to have substantial meaning).
This eventually gave way to sorrow, and after a good while he found his path as a Paladin again. At this point, he was much more focused and convicted as a champion of Enki, and so the whole process helped him to mature and grow. I felt it was really well done.
Pendalia was later reincarnated by Enky (rolands god), and this added to the depth of the roleplaying, as she was slightly altered by the reincarnation and didn't remember their life together. And so this was a little tortourous for Roland, who really just wanted to embrace her, but she really wasn't the same person anymore.
Eventually all this resolved and they are back together, but it was a very cool progression all around.

Okay, I've probably more than explained how we tend to veer away from alignment-oriented gameplay, but I have played a fallen character of sorts.
He was a rilkan nomad, and the backstory is a bit complicated- and I'm not going to explain because part of his backstory actually ties into Waltz Araneae (although only as something of an Easter Egg for Mamelon and Josh, and not as a major plot point. Even still, spoilers is spoilers).

[16:23] Alacar Leoricar: maybe if you do it'll make the porn more meaningful
@alacar: I haven't played a Fallen character or dm-ed for one yet, but I would really like to one of these days. Especially since reading the stuff on Ebberon recently has lead me to what may now be one of my most favorite prestige classes ever, the Bone Knight. The Bone Knight is almost like a Blackguard, but without the alignment restiction and with more control over undead(and bone armor and weapons!). I think it would add much more character to a paladin to become a Bone Knight or a Blackguard or even a Grayguard(from Complete Scoundrel).

So, I've been working on my Iron kingdoms character, and realized it's been a while since I made a true badass.
Imagine an orc, standing 8'3'' tall with a battered and abused leather greatcoat and brimmed hat. He's walking into a desert town, chewing on a half smoked cigar and notices a scorpion crawl by. He spits on it. The scorpion dies.
He fights with two large, serrated kuriki. He likes to keep things personal. But he keeps a fully loaded, double barreled hand cannon on his belt for those special occasions.
He is a specialist. A bounty hunter. But will also be a merc when he feels like it. He does however have his querks. Even though he's rottin to the core, he has this tendency to protect children, and has an almost fatherly soft spot for them. Also, due to his race, he is bound to any agreement he makes, so he has a high reputation in the underground as a man who keeps his word.
Mechanic wise. He's a level 10 Warblade, level 2 Bloodclaw master. He has every two weapon feat I could squeeze onto his sheet, improved crit, specialization and such on kuriki, and quickdraw. His race is Ogrun, which is pretty much an oversized orc.
He has a 28 strength.
Lastly, he specializes in tiger claw. The highlight of this guy, at least in my eyes, is the fact that he can get his jump up to 35, and any jump he makes (thanks to his stance) is considered a running jump no matter what. I also maxed Gather information and search as cross class skills to reflect his trade.
I haven't decided on a name yet, but I'm strongly leaning towards:
Brom "the butcher" Ironside.
He is also known in the underground simply as "the specialist".
I'm considering giving him the Leadership feat so that he can have an old fashoned posse. All I really want is a little goblin sharpshooter that follows him around who serves as his yes-man, and his sniper for special jobs. But I figured it would be cool if his leadership feat played out as instead of having a gang that followed him around, he had one follower in every major city so no matter where they went, he would have a new npc to introduce to the game, and it would really reflect this badass bountyhunter who has connections all over the place.
I don't know much about the party he's joining, just that they don't have a true tank. They have a Gunmage and a Rifleman for ranged attacks, then a Mecka Mage who does his thing, a crazy little lurk and a Warcaster who has a slew of Steamjacks he controls.
hehe i am going to try to make a big push to finish dragon quest 7 by this sunday. Ill probably play for most of the day today after i get back from my lunch since i dont have work today. I have one or two more landshard pedestials to finish and then ill fight orgodemir the lord of darkness pretty exciting if you ask me but he won't be one to be taken lightly though. Anyhow see you all soon.

Does anyone have any tips for me on how to confront an extremely oppositional mother who is set on the idea that "games are a waste of time"? Just curious...
And, nobody answered my question about the Castlevania games????
Also, do I need to revisit all the old worlds in Kingdom Hearts before I visit Hollow Bastion or?? What do you think??
Also, just picked up DQ8 again, for the first time in awhile.. I must say some of the enemies are .....very interesting.....
I would've replied earlier, Danica, but my activities in the Inn have kind of ruled my time on MTGS lately. Now lessee here...
I'm not sure what to tell your mother, really. For the most part, her opinion honestly doesn't matter so long as you enjoy your hobbies and gain fulfillment from them yourself, y'know? If she thinks it's a waste of time, then remind her that nobody's making her "waste" that time playing games. Just make sure that she knows her judgment isn't welcome.
@Castlevania: An exceptional series, of course. Portrait of Ruin is one of the best in the whole series, so starting there can't be a bad thing. I have a pretty high opinion of most of the Castlevania games. The only one I'd really tell you to avoid is Lament of Innocence because compared to other entries in the series...it just plain sucks. Curse of Darkness for Ps2 is very good, though, as is Aria of Sorrow for the Gameboy Advance. I personally like Portrait of Ruin and Rondo of Blood the best - I don't think it gets better than that =)
@Kingdom Hearts: I don't think you need to do anymore world-hopping before you hit Hollow Bastion. I would recommend stocking up on healing items, though. If it's your first time going there, you'll need them. Just take your time and it should be fine.
Does anyone have any tips for me on how to confront an extremely oppositional mother who is set on the idea that "games are a waste of time"? Just curious...
I guess I'd suggest you not confront her since you noted she "is set on the idea." If she's set, she's set. Resist the temptation to convince her and simply find other ways to do what you like while still taking the good part of the advice I'm sure she's giving.
And I finally caved and got FFIV and FFVI for GBA. I don't really want to replay them right now since I've gone through both of them within the last couple of years, but they will be waiting for me - and portable, too, the next time I get the itch to play one of these games.
Finished Twilight Princess and was kind of dissapointed in how easy the game was. It wasn't cake easy, but it was extremely forgiving. Still, it's the inverse of the NES games, where they had to make the games super hard becase they had such limited amounts of program space. Well, I logged 80+ hours on Twilight Princess and even though the game was pretty easy, I enjoyed every minute of it. It was very well designed and superbly scipted, with spot on visuals. In some places, the easiness actually helped me enjoy the game.
I recently picked up a FireEmblem GC title. Does anyone have any experience with the series?
Fire Emblem is a great series, although I'll say that it's kind of gone stale lately. FE9 for the Gamecube doesn't succumb to that as much as the GBA entries do, and it's a worthy entry to the series.
Basically, Fire Emblem invented the TRPG genre. It's pretty cut and dry - not as much depth as a game like Tactics Ogre or Disgaea - but that's a strangth rather than a weakness for it.
I've enjoyed pretty much all the FE games; my personal fvaorite is FE4, which unfortunately never came to America ~_~;;
I think the N64 Castlevania games were pretty good. The biggest issue was with controls and responsiveness, though. Oh LORD the jumping puzzles in the first one make me wanna puke >_<;;
I also power attack everything, and my AC is like jumbo.^_^

Basically, Fire Emblem invented the TRPG genre. It's pretty cut and dry - not as much depth as a game like Tactics Ogre or Disgaea - but that's a strangth rather than a weakness for it.
I've enjoyed pretty much all the FE games; my personal fvaorite is FE4, which unfortunately never came to America ~_~;;
