This Dark Princess pokemon is an Enigma. Even those lucky enough to capture one may never fully understand her. Her secondary type seems to differ from subject to subject.
Hello again, Omna! I'm sorry that you're going through all that; I know how it feels to lose love and be distanced from someone you care about. I'm sure we'll all be here with support if you need to talk to someone.
lol, Coffeemon. Very nice.
I'm headed off to class, then to go back home, so I may be back on later this evening.
@Omna: Thanks for the welcome. I don't really know you, but I know you're one of the founders of the CoffeeHouse, so it's good to have you posting here.
I'm really sorry to hear about you and Arguas and as you suggested, hopefully you'll be able to move on. Also, maybe returning to the 'house will help cheer you up a little.
On a different note, I find the entire idea of Coffeemon to be ridiculous, insane, and absolutely hilarious.
May I ask what you plan on doing with the Coffeemon you collect?
You can't catch me, Alacar. I'm legendary with a catch rate of 1. Also, I'm complete pwn because I'm not from Coffeemon. I'm from Coffee Quest Monsters: Ether.
Also, if you put my boy in a fashion show (unless it's a depression-era detective themed one featuring expensive footwear) I'll put you in a cage =P
@Tanth: OMG I was just thinking that a moment ago. You're a joy to DM, and so were a couple of other people, but...yeah.
I do think I'm starting to get the D&D fever back, so to speak. Anyone interested should head on over to obsidianportal.com and look up Bodhisattva Complex. That's my new project, and I'm loving it.
Damn.. that means I'll have to get the old Coffeehouse Quest series of games to get all of the monster references.. oh well, it'll be worth it. After all, I've always wanted to play CoffeeQuest Heroes: Rocket Kraj.
I've been really hoping a campaign would start in the P&PI that I could play in and wouldn't die soon after it started. It's been a while since I really played in a good D&D adventure, and I'm really starting to miss it. My old (real life) group died at the end of last year when two of the five people left. Since then, I've managed to get involved with another group, but most of them are really inexperienced which means I have to DM. I'm both not very good at DMing (probably from lack of practice) and I enjoy playing much more, so it is a little disappointing.
Anyway, the real point of that rant was that I would really like it if someone would start a D&D campaign in the P&PI with active, competent members and not let the game die. Unfortunately, that hasn't seemed to happen yet.
That's a good point, Krash.. I'm sure you would be an active player. Ethersphere? Anyone else?
I've also been considering starting a 2-player d20 Modern (Custom) campaign based on the game Half-Life--the problem is, finding players who haven't played the game. Krash?
Well I'm a very enthusiastic DM, but it seems I got entirely the wrong types of players for both of the campaigns I ran in the Inn. For one thing it seemed like long-term play wasn't really the order of the day at the time. Also, from everything I heard and saw it seems as though people don't like DMs thinking outside the box too much, so to speak. I'm primarily a console RPG lover so I'm about as outside the box as it gets. I try to stay as far away from elves as possible >_>;;
That said, when I do decide to jump back into the Inn I'm making it clear that I expect from players a commitment to the campaign that's on equal standing with my own. It's just a lot more fun and a lot less frustrating that way. If/when you do see a new campaign from me and it looks like your cup of tea, Krashbot, I'd love to have you.
@Alacar: I've actually never played d20 modern or half-life before, but I'm willing to take a crack at d20 modern if you point me to some source material.
@ether: I've actually never been a fan of the generic D&D campaigns either. The campaign that I'm trying to run in real life seems to be turning into one, but I think that's more from my inexperience making campaigns interesting than anything else. I'd love to play an out-of-the box campaign.
Also, a note on my activity around MTGS: you guys seem to think I'm pretty active, and right now I am. My activity around here tends to be either very high (like right now) or very low (like October, and especially last April and May). I would expect my activity to stay high through the end of February, possibly dipping for a few weeks here or there, but nothing serious. After that, it could be anywhere from as high as it is now (highly unlikely) to not logging on at all for almost two months like last year (also quite unlikely).
Well, glad to know I'm not the only one interested in a D&D campaign that doesn't randomly start stagnating after 2 weeks and die 2 weeks later after getting absolutely nowhere.
Yeah.. like my game that Yukora wanted me to start, and he didn't even get to join.. (Stone Cold)
As for d20 Modern--it's essentially D&D with some minor differences besides the settings. I'm looking for 2 active players of moderate and higher experience (you fit the bill) who haven't played the computer game before, so they won't metagame.
@mamelon: Thats okay I don't think i am that cute either which is probably the reason why i dont have a gf.
Also its good to see you again joyd good to see your doing well how are you?
Anyway I am probably going to stay home for thanksgiving pretty boring if you ask me but ah well thats life. Anyway see you all later. Im going to get something to eat.
And some people should totally open a Coffécenter and a Coffémart :xd:
Also, Omna, I sent you a pm some time ago, I guess you noticed or would've noticed anyway, but I'm just curious what you think about the idea^_^
LOL... Coffemart and CoffeCenter...lol... that's a great idea.. And yup, I actually PM'ed you about it after I saw that post..... I don't really like the Winnie-the-Pooh vibe though, unfortunately.... we're not really tree-ish.... We're more.....uh..can anybody help me here??
Hello again, Omna! I'm sorry that you're going through all that; I know how it feels to lose love and be distanced from someone you care about. I'm sure we'll all be here with support if you need to talk to someone.
Thank you... I'm hopeful for the future, and basically trying to keep a positive mindset.

I'm glad to see that you know who I am And I'm not sure if "move on" is the right phraseology....But I am hoping that time flies by and that life will keep me busy until he feels ready to contact me again...
Dunno if you noticed or not, but I was considering doing a starter campaign for d20 Modern in the P&PI. It'd be very simple stuff, considering that I'm pretty much a beginner, but if there are people interested... Of course, I might have to beg someone a bit more experienced to keep an eye on things...
*bats eyelashes at ether in Photon's absence*
I did actually notice that, and you were one of the people I was targeting that towards.... I would be very interested.... It might give me something to do in the meantime while I try to get my mind off of this crap.
Oh, and the most important thing of all following your post:
*Craig offers as big a hug as possible over the internet*
We're always here for you if you need it. Same goes to everyone in the 'House, whether it be regulars or casuals.
Thank you.... so much.... I'll be on MSN a bit more over the next few days if you're going to be around.. I'd love to talk to you a bit, I've missed our conversations
Speaking of people I used to talk to on MSN... whatever happened to Janus??
Nice to see all the old-timers a-creeping back in through the doors - the 'House has definitely been livelier over the last few days.
I definitely agree on that one.... It's nice to come back to so much activity, and so much positivity.. and seriously.. the Coffemon stuff has made me LAUGH so hard.... its awesome... I missed coming on here and just laughing my butt off.... Which brings me to the next quote....:p
You can't catch me, Alacar. I'm legendary with a catch rate of 1. Also, I'm complete pwn because I'm not from Coffeemon. I'm from Coffee Quest Monsters: Ether.
........ LOL!!!!! That was the funniest thing I have read all day.... okay, maybe not 100% but its damn close!! Wow...... lol... I'm so tempted to put that in my sig...
If he takes that one and runs with it, I'm holding you personally responsible.
There's a game you should get for your DS: Rocket Slime. It's not that long but very fun.
I was WONDERING if that game was worthwhile..... I wanted to get it... anything special I should know about it? and where would be a good place to pick it up? The standard mall or somewhere online?
and about the Kraj thing....... <_< >_> ........wow. lol.....
anyway..... My mom suggested i just veg out and watch some back to back episodes of Quantum Leap, (which i haven't done in a loooong time)... which does sound pretty good to me... so yeah, I think that'll be fun...
Stuff, PM me with some good animes that you think I might enjoy... I know you're just going to point me in the direction of AotW, but can you pinpoint any in specific??? I'm not sure I want to dig through them all and try to find the couple that stood out to me... Normally I like romantic, but not at the moment... So if there's anything kinda cool that you think I might enjoy, just point out which one it was, PM me, maybe where I can find it, if possible, or whatever...
Anyway..... I'm going to go veg and watch some episodes of Quantum Leap... Anybody else like that show??
Quantum Leap... ahhh that brings back memories. I was young when it was still in syndication, so I never fully grasped what was truly going on until later when it was dying out on TV, but now I can enjoy it. Scott Bakula is a better actor than he's given credit for.

In that case, I'm definitely in as soon as you can get it started. *Krashbot is eagerly awaiting more information on the campaign (including when we get to make characters).*
Well that's awesome Krash. I just need to find you a partner. Mamelon said she was interested--but I dunno if she'll be active enough.
The game is pretty much almost a giant dungeon-style game with plot points within--no journeys or anything. From moment one to the final scene, it all takes place in nearly one facility.
Since we're talking about it.. anyone else willing to be actively involved?
Re-iterate what it is again?? I might be interested, as I've never played the game, and I don't know much about the system, but maybe i'm TOO new for what you're looking for, Ally
Okay.. I'm gonna spoiler this for non RPG geeks around here..
Half-Life d20 Enter the Black Mesa Research Facility as a top notch scientist thrust into a horrible accident that could threaten the world. Run. Think. Shoot. Live.
The Half-Life campaign I am thinking of starting used a very loose custom version of the d20 Modern rules, which are similar to the d20 system used in D&D with minor differences. The campaign is based on the video game series of the same name, but adjusted for 2 people to play in the role of what would be typically one person, and abridged so there's not so many jumping puzzles and shootouts, though there are bound to be some tough ones!
With a unique armor system and completely personally designed NPCs, I am interested in looking for 2 players who are at least familiar with the d20 system to a degree, but most importantly, I'm looking for active people. People who won't let the game die, even if I slack off. Since I have the game and will be following its plot, it's not easy for me to get lost or stuck with what I need to do--in addition to me being able to provide music, audio, and images when the need strikes.
Also, it goes without saying I'd prefer players who haven't played the game, so they won't play ahead of me or metagame.
if I knew ANYTHING about how to create a character, I'd be willing to try. since I know nothing about the RP mechanisms except for rolling dice, I have to pass.

Ok, now I'm even more interested than I was before.
Just reading that I can definitely see how it would be easier for people already familiar with the d20 system as it sounds like you're using some (possibly significant) custom modifications that could be confusing to newer players.
That said, let's get going <someone who is active and familiar with the d20 system>. This looks really fun.
Good timing though that me and some of her other friends decided to spend the last few nights playing Munchkin and talk about all sorts of stuff as well. Games last a VERY long time like that (3-4 hours or so usually).
I've actually had the opportunity to play Munchkin, and I thought it was a really fun little system. We'd play, if I'm remembering things correctly, with six or so players, and the games would take an hour and a half or so if we were trying hard to finish, which we usually were due to someone leaving for class. If I had a playgroup, it's one of the things I'd like to try again some day.
well, this coming semester of school is going to be hellish, to say the least. I got my final grades back, and passed the classes by the skin of my teeth. of course, my GPA still puts me on academic probation and I lost about $2000 in scholarship money for this term...
to get off probation this term, I need a 2.66 average GPA. to stay in the school for another term, I need a 1.80 average.
this will most likely mean my posting will be severly cut back these coming months, especially since I have to retake a class...frankly, I'll be lucky if I have a home to come back to for Christmas...
I know that feeling. When I changed majors halfway through my college career, it was because I had really lost interest in my first major, and had failed a class and shown lackluster grades in others. I had full tuition and $2500 a year towards room and board at the time, contingent upon me maintaining a 3.0, and though I managed to hang on to it during a probationary period for another year, my final year was footed by my parents. I had to rely on their charity to complete my degree, and if I hadn't completed it in the given four years, the money would've been gone and I would've have been, to put it mildly, up **** creek without a paddle. I ended up taking three 20-hour quarters in a row to finish on time, but I did it, and now I have that degree. Just buckle down and concentrate on classes, and maintain the attitude that anything is possible. Don't give up, no matter what.
Guh...thwarted yet again by the bungling behemoth that is the Final Fantasy series. I took a look at Square Enix's merchandise today and found some very high-quality Dragon Quest memorabilia...but for every one DQ item on the site there are about fifty idiotic FF items. Whatever, really...it's clear that DQ isn't for everyone. By everyone, of course, I mean everyone other than myself. What a way to lose faith in other gamers.
Haha, I know the feeling. There's definitely a parallel there with the way I feel about most Shounen Jump series. I can't look anywhere at an anime convention without seeing Bleach and Naruto every two feet. Try to find something from an obscure series like Mermaid Melody or even a relatively well known but older series like Lain, and you end up searching back corners of the dealers room, checking underneath other displays, and sometimes still not finding anything. It's frustrating, but there's not much to be done about it. "Bandwagoning" sells.
Stuff, PM me with some good animes that you think I might enjoy... I know you're just going to point me in the direction of AotW, but can you pinpoint any in specific??? Mondai de wa arimasen, oujo-san (Sure thing, milady). I know what you're going through has to be tough, and I can tell by your posts that you're feeling down, but don't worry. You'll get through it eventually, and come out smiling again. I'll be definitely be sending a PM your way.
A big "welcome back" goes out to AoK. I'm glad to see you've returned, if even for a little while. And Fox, I'm sorry to hear about your rabbit. I know my brother would be inconsolable if his died, and I'm sorry it happened to you. And Coffeemon, eh? Mr. Stuff sorta has a "Mr. Mime" vibe to it, although I doubt I'd be much good at cooking and cleaning and the like.
I'm glad to see some activity back in the house. Now, to get some AotWs ready... rest assured, they are coming. Eventually.
Alrighty.. looks like I have my players. Omna, don't worry. We'll help you along the way. The most important thing is for you to remain active--I don't want the game to go stagnant.

I ended up taking three 20-hour quarters in a row to finish on time, but I did it, and now I have that degree. Just buckle down and concentrate on classes, and maintain the attitude that anything is possible. Don't give up, no matter what.
Eventually.
I'll post up the creation thread for us
