I didn't mean it's not a big deal, Mamelon. But I think that, in any situation, you should try to play down the bad and play up the good. To me, anything short of terminal cancer or illness is a 'little problem'. Problems like this are temporary, unhappiness that goes away rather quickly in the grand scheme of things. It seems incredibly important, and incredibly hard to get through, now. But in a few years, maybe even just a few months, you'll look back and wonder why you made such a big deal about it.
On an alternate note, I was remembering something someone said to me a few years ago. She told me I look to the future and look to the past at the same time, while most people only do one or the other. It was an interesting comment, and I can't figure out why I think of it now.
Nai.. this isn't just something that's a goal. This has to do with who she is. It's part of her identity. A lot of things short of terminal cancer or illness can be more than a 'little problem.' What about mental and personal health and well-being?
Most health insurance screws over anything remotely resembling mental health treatment, and that's how they'll categorize it. >.<
Sure, I'll air my own problem, but to go into it, I have to tell a bit about myself. I grew up with an alcoholic for stepfather, who wasn't very nice to my mother and me. All of the money went towards his habit, rather than stuff we needed. He abused the crap out of my mom and forbade her to go to social services, so I didn't get a lot of health care as a kid. As a consequence, a combination of genetic predisposition and lack of care has left me with severe dental problems, to the point where I usually don't smile. I have a difficult time eating a lot of stuff, and I am...rather sensitive about it. (understatement) The treatment that I need would cost me well over $20,000 in oral surgery alone, not even thinking of replacement.
I don't work outside the home, not with an indefinite waiting list on child care assistance here. I'd pay more in day care than I could ever make in wages; I'm not unskilled, just without formal education...and apparently that piece of paper is more important than showing the ability to actually learn and work well. My husband has a job, but...I am totally not going into all THAT.
Needless to say, there isn't much I can do about it.
However, I can live with it. I certainly don't LIKE it, but I can live.
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

It is time for legacy of the week!
I will be covering cephalid breakfast for this week since it has shown a very big showing at legacy worlds.
Cephalid breakfast can go off for the win by playing any of the en-kors with cephalid illusionist and you target the illusionist with the en-kors until your able to mill the right cards into the graveyard. Narcomoebas come back into play from the graveyard from the milling so your able to flashback dread return by sacrificing the moebas. Then you bring back sutured ghoul enchanted by dragonbreath(which gives your ghoul haste) and remove all of a great portion of your creatures from the game to have a really big ghoul to swing with.
Many legacy players consider Cephalid Breakfast the best deck in legacy since it can win very fast and has enough tutors and disruption for it to be pretty consistent at what it does as a combo deck.
Card Choices:
Cephalid Illusionist: One of the most important combo pieces for this deck and you can even have some combo tricks up your sleeve with the activated ability of the illuionist which can come in handy versus threshold.
Narcomoeba: An outlet combo piece that lets you flashback dread return from the grave.
Nomad en-kor: With nomad's activated ability you can target Cephalid illusionist a million times which enables illuionist to put a large amount of your cards from your library to your graveyard.
Shaman en-kor: Pretty much the same as nomad except having an different combo piece can give cephalid breakfast an out from an opposing pithing needle.
Stern Proctor: Stern proctor provides some answers against pithing needles, enchantments that can prevent damage and etc.
Sutured Ghoul: The biggest creature on the planet with very little cost of coming straight out from the graveyard.
Tarmogoyf: Goyfs are a great alternative and a supporter for cephalid's breakfast sutured ghoul combo.
Brainstorm: Gives you the ability to dig for the combo pieces and answers/disruption.
eladamri's call: An effective tutor that gives you the ability to search for that one creature combo piece or when necassary or just to win games tarmogoyfs.
Force of will: The best counterspell in legacy I probably don't need to say more about this card.
Worldly Tutor: A less effective version of eladamri's call but nonetheless another decent combo piece fetcher for cephalid breakfast.
Cabal Therapy: Gets rid of most disruption played by opposing aggro-control or control players. So you can freely combo off for the win.
Dread return: Brings back the giant sutured ghoul from the dead for zero mana.
Ponder: Just like brainstorm ponder provides the role of digging for that one combo piece or disruption.
Dragon Breath: Gives your giant sutured ghoul haste so you can swing for the win.
Aether vial: Gives all of your combo creature outlets immunity to countermagic as well as it can speed up cephalid breakfast with great efficiency.
Sideboard Card Choices:
Abeyance: Great against goblins since mogg fanatics can be pretty rough on cephalid breakfast. Also abeyance provides the role of nullifying any and every countermagic distraction so you can freely combo off. But at worst case it can be a counterspell decoy.
crippling fatigue: Removes opposing meddling mages and gaddock teegs that prevent you from flashbacking dread return or hardcasting it.
Dark Confidant: Has the same role as brainstorm and ponder except a 2/1 body can be another supporter and/or alternative to the combo.
Harmonic Sliver: Pretty much the samething as stern proctor.
ray of revelation: See harmonic sliver.
thoughtseize: Perhaps one of the best discard spells we have in the format and this discard spell is very effective against any aggro control deck like threshold since it can take out creatures from opposing hands. Also can give landstill aches.
tormod's crypt: Can be a benefiting card in the mirror as well as against the likes of loam, and ichorid bridge.
Well thats it for this weeks legacy of the week! I hope I will be able to get up a couple of more before I retire at the end of this month.
Wow... AoK.. I have a similar issue, with my teeth.. it doesn't sound nearly as bad as your situation, but I do have issues with grinding my teeth and with my bite, with some TMJ and stuff... Oddly, my whole life, people have told me that my smile is a nice one, so its kind of ironic that the one thing people thought was good turned out to be a problem too
I also have a weakness for wine and other acidic foods, so that of course doesn't help, even though I do use Sensodyne...
Also, I really am glad for you, Mamelon, that things are seeming to look up- I hope that you can go to that therapist.. I bet you would REALLY benefit from even just one session.. I find that going to someone (and this is just lil' ol' me, not you with the gender issues) really helps me to sort things out... I can sense that you get a lot from venting, and i do too, so that's why I think going to a therapist would REALLY help. But of course hormones would too, I'm just trying to consider things in steps, as i'm sure you are too! *hugs* We're all here for you Mamelon
Kevin, I don't think he was really trying to criticize your deck, exactly.. I think he was just stating his own opinion, not trying to personally attack your deck at all.. I know how it can feel though cuz i have that problem too *hug*
Tanthalas, I'm gonna post in the P&PI in a few.. but we're going to need to walk through/brainstorm a character for me cuz i don't know if I've got any ideas lol.. Also I'm pretty new to this (as is everyone else as its a introductory campaign, which is VERY GOOD), so yeah. Just be patient w/ me , and we should talk soon.. I don't have my computer right now so if you get on AIM, we can talk, but this computer doesn't have MSN or Skype or anything like that.
Stuff, I got your PMs, will respond when i get a chance, likely tomorrow.. Thanks for the response though
Soooo... Today (December 10th, okay, yes, I know its no longer 'Today' but still) was 2 full years since I fell in love w/ the game of Magic.... Since the day I kicked Ryan's ass with Lightning Helix in the Boros Precon... I actually took a risk, a jump and PMed him, thanking him for teaching me... I don't think I was over the top... I actually kind of avoided being online all day, because I was freaked out about reading his response if he did respond, etc etc etc... Well, he didn't respond.. I kind of expected that, which was fine... at the same itme i can't help but feel a little like aww.. a tiny little pang that he didn't.... But I know he's simply fulfilling his part of the bargain.. and I think the PM probably put a smile on his face, which is what my goal was in responding to that... It was just a little nervewracking today, so i basically avoided the computer and focused on other things But yea, 2 years that I've been playing Magic!! Wow... can hardly believe it.. I feel really lucky that Ryan did teach me the game, because if he hadn't, I wouldn't have met you wonderful people
In other news, this is my 2,300th post!!
Sooo, what did I do today instead of being online? I made gingerbread cookies!! yep! It was awesome.. I was watching the Food Network (omg I've been watching that channel SO much lately lol) and there were tons of Christmas specials and all that junk so I got all in the mood to bake cookies, so i called Mom up and asked her to pick up the ingredients i needed (after investigating in my Joy of Cooking cookbook!) to make 'em, and when she got home, I made us both grilled cheese sandwiches (also a product of the Food Network's influence.... Unwrapped was showing how this restaurant in NYC made 150 different kinds of grilled cheese) .... and then after we ate the grilled cheese, there was "The History of Gingerbread!" on TV, so that got me in the mood to make 'em, so that was perfect timing!
My dad and I got the tree on Sunday, so likely tomorrow night I will be helping Mom decorate the tree, and then maybe making sugar cookies! Or more gingerbread.. not sure heh.. And I'll be making chicken...
Does anybody have any good recipes for chicken drumsticks??
Lemme know! Anyway, I should probably get to bed, well, first I gotta post on the Half-Life thread, post my "I'm totally in' slot on the P&PI, and then check my e-mail, then head off to read Eragon..
I'm about 180 pages into it so far! Anybody read it??

Yeah I know he probably wasn't trying to personally attack my deck but regardless though I probably shouldn't worry about it since Ive had a pretty compotent landstill player say that my landstill deck looks pretty good and he's had some big tournament experience. But thanks for the support though. *hugs* However a good portion of magic players don't really get it though its the player that matters and not the deck. I mean decks with limited attributes can still do very well at large tournaments if the player is great.
I dont have any good recipes for drumsticks sorry about that. Also it looks like alot has been going on with you and its good to see you post again omna.
It is about 2 AM and I don't feel tired. Odd. Took my math final today, I think I did pretty well, I wasn't sure on one question, but it wasn't worth much. Coming up later today, Graphic Design at 6-8 PM, Psych at 8:30-10:30, and Computer Programming at 8-10 AM the next morning. *Shivers*
Mamelon-- That's great that your goal has become more attainable. Good luck with it!
Foolycooly-- Nice deal. I could swear I have everything for Heezy Red Fever at home except the Knolls.
Omna-- Awesome. I don't remember the day I started playing, or picked it back up. I learned in the summer between 5th grade and 6th grade. I got back in sometime in sophomore year, right around Mirrodin. I don't know any good chicken recipies, but I have a cookie recipe from my Magic playing group of friends. (Sadly, non-Christmas cookies) I can PM it to you when I find it if you'd like, I think it's at home, but I'll be there in a couple of days.
I'm going to try to study for what's left later today. Good night.
hey ceci, what do you think of White Stax winning the legacy? First time I'd ever seen the decklist, and after I stopped laughing uproariously I actually see what a pain in the neck it must be to play against. NOTHING is geting by that deck, NOTHING. Maybe just the right call, eh.
I only got enough knolls to make the deck for myself, and the same goes for most rares, we get enough for ourselves because where I live, even arranging to ship card auctions is difficult. So there's no real profit.
Good morning everyone... i was up until 3am or so, and i was starting to have a little bit of a sore throat when I went to bed, but now its raging
And now I'm talking to Ryan's roommate's ex-girlfriend... they JUST broke up, so yea that's not good.. so i'm just listening and kinda sorta hoping that she might know how Ryan is doing... but mostly i'm just listening and am there for her, because i know how hard it is to lose someone's best friend..
(EDIT: Not that i'm in the best position to be supportive, as i'm still going through quite a bit of pain myself, but I want to help her out, because I know how hard it can be, so I'm just hoping i can help her a little bit..)
so, how is everyone today?? Like i said earlier, I have a sore throat.. I'm going to be making dinner tonight, but that's not for another few hours or something so I have time to kill... probably going to read Eragon and watch TV..
EDIT: Also, good luck and congratulations to Ally for passing his biology test with flying colors! i know he will!!

hehe I am actually not that surprised actually since I have seen angel stax decks get top 8s at alot of tournaments. Also angel stax smashes threshold because of how it is built. Also angel stax can disrupt just about any combo deck as well considering of how fast it can get its resolved lock down components into play. Ive played with angel stax a few times and Ive always liked having exalted angel in a lock down type of deck. Too bad it doesn't have vigilance since I would maybe play stasis again as well.
Anyway I was kind of on a rampage last night with UW landstill I won three rounds straight on mws. I played against ugw threshold, goblins, and ugr threshold and won 2-0 against each of those decks all three matches were in reasonable time frame as well. Alot of people on mws play threshold for some reason. Also in all of those matches I had to deal with krosan grips which was a big pain for the landstill deck I was playing with.
Here is the landstill list i played with last night.
hehe i just realized i didn't board in tivadar's crusade in game 2 against goblins oh well. They would probably also come in handy for empty the warren tokens from Belcher as well.
In the goblin matchup he had aether vials out and also the rishadan port + wasteland lock on me as well in game one I kept on fetching for basic lands though and I used top a bunch of times and it helped with the eternal dragons and fetch lands. I then casted a moat and a dragon then a standstill and pretty much put the game away from there.
In game 2 though it was alot more tricky since he has krosan grips in there and he pretty much had aether vials and the non-basic land lock on me again. I fetched for a circle of protection: red with enlightened tutor and played a standstill so then I could force him to break my standstill by krosan gripping my cop:red even though he had 2 aether vials in play. I then cleared the board with wrath of god and brought back my E. Dragon and proceed to win.
I thought about playing with one or two ghostly prisons though since they can be extremely helpful against ichorid, cephalid breakfast, and threshold. And also maybe adding in another wrath of god as well in the main.
I pretty much did the samething with the threshold matches except I kept the counterbalances in since they are great tech against threshold and they don't really do anything against the likes of goblins because of their aether vials and goblin lackeys.
@alacar: well goodluck to you in your classes alacar and have a good day!
@omna: Yeah... that is terrible news and I hope ryan is doing good and like always I wish you all the best.
Well anyway I think i am going to take off for now ill talk to you all later though have a good day/night everyone.
Hey hey kiddos, I'm alive. That test was EASY! I got done with it in half an hour. Now I'm celebrating with a marathon of Mel Brooks films (The Producers, The Twelve Chairs, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, High Anxiety, History of the World: Part I, Spaceballs, Robin Hood: Men in Tights)
Well.. I don't know my grades yet--the test was easy, but I didn't get a grade. I'll have one when all the finals are done this week.
Well i hope you will do just as well in your other tests and hope you will get straight As. Ive always like biology though even though human anatomy and physiology was a pain in the butt to study on a consistent basis. Also the tests were pretty hard as well since half of the test was fill in the blank blah.
as for your deal mamelon, congratulations on finding a specialist, i'm sure everything will work out

Heh, thanks all, but not so fast. I found out where I could go - which admittedly was a big hurdle for me - but I don't know for sure what this means yet. I still have to find out how to pay for the therapy.
According to the standards of care, one has to attend regular therapy sessions about gender identity issues for three months to even get a recommendation for the prescription for the hormones. Now, the program I found was described as "non-dogmatic," and it's said that though she uses the standards of care, she doesn't stick to the letter of them, especially if she feels that it's better not to for the sake of therapeutic goals or the client's wellbeing.
However, that'd still be a lot of sessions, and I can expect to pay a good bit more that $100 per visit, not to mention the costs for travelling to Columbus. Then there's the cost for an endocrinologist. Aside from that, the other most expensive thing would be all the new clothes (which I really just need, anyway).
It's been very emotionally draining going over all this, but now that I look at it, I think I could manage if I save diligently for a number of months before starting. But I'm not sure yet; there's still a lot to work out.

If it comes to a point where you've got a target (both physical and financial) that you can realistically aim for, it's so much easier to actually think about yourself positively.
Yeah, it helps. Now I have a concrete goal I can work toward instead of just a general idea. That makes a big difference, as I can actually visualize myself in the future, something that's never been easy.
I'm sure that the program in Columbus will be able to give you some estimated figures at the very least. Assuming they charge by the appointment, that should help matters. I guess the only problem is that if you start going, you almost have to keep on going until you reach the point where you've resolved whatever made you go in the first place.
Well, you wouldn't have to make any long-term commitment, at least not financially. Either way, as long as I save up enough, it should be okay.
The difficulty is getting there in the first place.

Aww, Jen. You don't ever have to feel like what you're going through doesn't matter. If that would make some part of your life better, then of course it sucks that it costs so much.

Again, thank you.
Does anybody have any good recipes for chicken drumsticks??
What kind of drumsticks were you thinking of? Fried?
It shouldn't be very difficult if you get the frying down. You could just try a conventional batter, by dipping the legs in egg and dredging them in a flour mixture, then frying in a deep pan. You can play around with the flour mixture to get a specific flavor. You could try different spices and herbs, even different flours.
If you're frying, make sure you use a fat that doesn't burn easily, like shortening or an oil that you know won't start to smoke once it heats up - canola oil, peanut oil, and corn oil work well for that.
Were you wanting to know how to make drumsticks, or just trying to find inventive recipes?

ohhh beer. I personally like corona but i haven't drank any alcohol for more then 5 months but i will drink it on occasion since it can be quite fun especially on a day off or hanging out with friends.
Yay the same german legacy player that almost top 8 at the 2007 legacy championships in germany with UWB landstill told me that my uw landstill is at the very least a solid deck. So looks like I still have it for building control decks in legacy. I play with the UW landstill the best out of the other landstill builds but I enjoy playing with different versions of landstill.
@mamelon: ohhh sorry about that mamelon. *hugs*
anyway I am going to get off for awhile ill be back later though. Have a good one everyone!
well im completely amazed, my beautiful newborn son (5 days old) already got accustomed to the sleeping routine!!!! that by itself is an amazing feat (newborns have an irregular sleep pattern that takes 2-3 weeks to break out of), but to top it all of he is also opening his eyes and trying to look around!!!!!!!!!
GJ Alacar on finals, here's to a long restful break and some good grades coming your way.
If you aren't drinking, just picture that as some nice birch beer or sasp'rilla or soemthing
I'm not 21 yet, but I don't think I'll be into drinking even then. Still, I do like a nice mug o' root beer
Bad news guys--It appears I may have an ear infection in my right ear.. can't hear very well out of it and it hurts like hell. Started when I was showering this morning. Thought it was just water. Gonna see what happens.. going to the doctor's tomorrow. Until then, it's ibuprofin and taking it easy.. whew.
Does anybody have any good recipes for chicken drumsticks??
Okay, so here's what you gotta do, I think. You want to take a part of a chicken, like the legs or something, and then you want to put like, breadcrumbs on them maybe, and like paprika or something, then you want to make them really hot. Maybe you should dip them in oil first so that the breadcrumbs and paprika stick on there, then like toss them in a frying pan or in the oven or something, maybe on a cooking sheet. I feel like you shouldn't microwave them, although it might not hurt to try. Drumsticks, I think, are the leg part of the chicken.
well, I've got my modded card almost done, so that's one less thing I need to take care of, since I've got lots of other classwork (at least I don't have finals since we're on trimesters...)

I certainly don't LIKE it, but I can live.

sweet dreams everyone!
It is time for legacy of the week!
I will be covering cephalid breakfast for this week since it has shown a very big showing at legacy worlds.
I will start out first a deck list:
4 Cephalid Illusionist
3 narcomoeba
4 nomads en-kor
1 shaman en-kor
1 stern proctor
1 sutured ghoul
4 tarmogoyf
Other Spells
4 brainstorm
2 eladamri's call
4 force of will
4 worldly tutor
2 cabal therapy
1 dread return
3 ponder
1 Dragon breath
4 aether vial
4 flooded strand
4 polluted delta
3 tropical island
4 tundra
2 underground sea
3 abeyance
1 crippling fatigue
2 dark confidant
2 harmonic sliver
1 ray of revelation
3 thoughtseize
3 tormod's crypt
How do you play this deck?

Cecilia

Anyway I am off see you all soon.
Love,
Cecilia
Good night.

I only got enough knolls to make the deck for myself, and the same goes for most rares, we get enough for ourselves because where I live, even arranging to ship card auctions is difficult. So there's no real profit.
URW land still went 4-1

1 polluted delta
4 Tundra
3 wasteland
2 plains
4 mishra's factory
4 flooded strand
5 Island
Creatures
2 eternal dragon
Spells
1 engineered explosives
1 moat
4 counterbalance
4 brainstorm
3 counterspell
4 enlightened tutor
4 force of will
4 swords to plowshares
2 wrath of god
1 seal of cleansing
2 standstill
1 crucible of worlds
4 sensei's divining top
2 engineered explosives
1 Moat
1 aura of silence
1 circle of protection: green
1 circle of protection: red
2 hydroblast
2 pulse of the fields
1 rule of law
1 threads of disloyalty
2 tivadar's crusade
1 tormod's crypt
hehe i just realized i didn't board in tivadar's crusade in game 2 against goblins oh well.

Cecilia

Well i hope you will do just as well in your other tests and hope you will get straight As. Ive always like biology though even though human anatomy and physiology was a pain in the butt to study on a consistent basis. Also the tests were pretty hard as well since half of the test was fill in the blank blah.
Love,
cecilia
GJ Alacar on finals, here's to a long restful break and some good grades coming your way.
If you aren't drinking, just picture that as some nice birch beer or sasp'rilla or soemthing
Yeah, it helps. Now I have a concrete goal I can work toward instead of just a general idea. That makes a big difference, as I can actually visualize myself in the future, something that's never been easy.
Is there any chance of some kind of from-home business you could do?
Yes, I hope so, too!
Again, thank you.
That's weird.

Love,
Cecilia
Nice. I wish I have a son of my own.
