Ponder is in fact strictly better then portent. I think its even better with predict then portent is obviously plus you can draw a card sooner which makes ponder a useful utility in threshold. Although im not entirely sure if i would take out portents for ponders entirely I could see thresh players running both just for the sake of having some hard card draw with predict. Actually i wouldn't be too surprised if ponder replaced serum visions instead since having ponder and portent makes predict more consisent.
Additionally, what ever happened to the idea of having like, a House skype chat? Did anything ever develop from that, or was that just one of those ideas that got shot out into the air and died?
Ironically, soon after you posted this, my future employer contacted me about using Skype. Apparently, he uses it to talk to his son in California and would also like to use it to talk to me. Hence, I need to get it set up on my computer. First, though, I'll need a webcam and a microphone.
@Alacar:
Wow, that is terrible. The fact that she didn't go to the authorities is frustrating, I'm sure. I hope it all works out eventually for her, and she finds the courage to have something done about the situation.
@DOA:
Shallow, shallow movie. The only redeeming value at all is that they actually got a couple of the characters right, namely Tina and Bass. Everyone else either didn't show up in the movie for longer than two seconds, or was cast and portrayed terribly. They did manage to have a beach volleyball scene for no other reason than as a reference to DOA: Beach Volleyball, though. That was good for a laugh - just like the rest of the movie.
My future employer (check out their website for more info: www.timelife-y.jp ) just called me again a few minutes ago, and gave me two dates they are considering having me start: October 9th and November 20th. October 9th is, well, ridiculously close, and I'd be running around like a madman trying to prepare, so I sincerely hope they decide on the latter date. They'll contact me within a few days to let me know for certain.
@Llorwyn:
I've really liked what I've seen of it so far. I like how they've broken the colors up into groups, much like in Ravnica. Planeswalkers opened a lot of new design space, and if the 0/5 treefolk is any indication, they're opening new design space with more than just Planeswalkers. I was thinking about skipping the prerelease, but I've decided that I'll probably go now.
Hey all. I've been meaning to make a post, but for some reason, I haven't been able to.
Work and WoW has taken up alot of my time, but I have been keeping up on things around the coffeehouse.
I'm terribly sorry to hear what happened to Heather, Alacar. I can't even begin to imagine what going through that must feel like physically and mentally. I hope that he gets what's coming to him!
However, I am totally happy and envious of your news, Mr. Stuff! Glad to hear that things are falling into place for you. As well and you, Sakura! Getting promoted must be nice.
And speaking of Scrubs, it reminds me of the line from one episode: "Good news for one person can usually mean bad news for another" or something like that. I hate how things work that way.
In gaming news, I hear that the FFT remake for the PSP will have some new things added. I can always emulate it, so I'm not worried. Also, I heard that the new Fire Emblem (YAY!) game comes out in November. So I'll have to get that on top of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros., which has Ike as a character! *Lovingly shakes a fist at Nintendo*
im realy angry, my 100 dollar coupon i got for winning an article contest @ strikezone isnt working, and the tcgplayer people are telling me that i have to deal with those people directly

and to compound matters

I can't wait myself, but pit and pokemon trainer will be my reason. The fact they are using the first pokemon only serve to further make me believe that the pokemon of melee, and poke floats was just a way to showcase second generation pokemon.
As I am sure you are all eager to get posting again, here is a quick-fix to get it going.
(Be warned that you are stuck with the hideous "Username and avatar above post" layout).
So that's why I haven't be affected! I've already had this setup since joining these forums. Just keeps everything more streamlined I think.
I saw the thread in Speak Your Mind, and came over here once I could post again. That... is annoying.
@FLCL7777:
Yeah, Lucky Star's ending, but hey, there's so much more to watch! Bokurano, Gurren-Lagann, DtB, Claymore, Seirei... Plus, we have all of the new fall anime to get excited about, including Ghost Hound, and a new one from the creator of FMA. Worry not.
I'm still waiting to hear back on the exact date Shiratsuchi (my future employer) wants me to come over. I picked up a webcam and microphone last night, and I will be learning how to use Skype this afternoon.
*Kraj staggers in after being gone on vacation for a week. Clearly there is no way he can catch up on everything in the House he has missed, but one thing catches his eye... and he does a little dance for KoolKoal. Awesome!
And he then sees Alacar's posts... He does his best to look solemn as he sinks into a beanbag chair.*
That's... just awful. Obviously for her, but also for you; not just because you care deeply for her but also because this is happening at a time where your relationship is already at a challenging stage. Good for you for encouraging her to get the police involved. I don't really know what else to say.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
Did you catch the gist of Sakura's big promotion and my new job in Japan? It's just a little further back. Anyway, welcome back, Kraj. How was the vacation?
I'm about to crack open this webcam and see if I can't get Skype up and running. I'm on dialup, and I don't know how much bandwidth it takes, so it may be workable on this computer and it may not. I still haven't heard anything back from Time-Life about which date they decided or from my former proffessors, whom I asked for advice.
Let's see, what else... Lunar, for the first time in almost a year, released several new episodes of Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch. Yay! I am a happy, happy mermaid fanboy. Or well, I guess I would be, if I hadn't just found out that Robert Jordan died. Ugh. That kinda put a damper on my day.

Indeed. She said she might talk to the police while at school--the thing she's afraid of the most is being caught and punished (especially by her stepdad), but she knows (by my urging) that it's best if she tells the police.
Whew.. I'm glad the layout's fixed.
We need to get a Coffeehouse Conference Call/Skypecast set up some time soon. The only issue is, Danica's a little deaf, ya know?
So first day actually doing my new job. they are giving us a limited workload at first. We are in the process of having our logging tools all changed so it is a double learning process for us. This new tool is not very easy to learn. The layout and options generally does not make sense, and it tends to add extra steps. Also, we are getting calls where the logging is crossed between the old and new tool, and it makes digging the info awkward.
Last week my work computer had died. I come in today and it was supposedly fixed. They had forgot to connect it to the network. So I wait for them to do that, then set up my software. I go to log into the actual case logging software and it crashes. They are going to have to completely replace the computer it seems. I am working on a dif comp for now.
Turns out not all my permissions are enabled either. I cannot access some important features. And for some reason my email stopped working part way through the day.
Otherwise, I am having a blast. Actually feel underworked. Once I feel comfortable with the new tools and get my system and permissions issues resolved I cannot wait to get a full workload.
Nifty card. I can't help thinking it might look a little better without the transparent face, though. Other than that, cool.
I got my webcam working, and took a quick picture just as a test with it. The installer for Skype is 22mb, and there is no way I'm downloading that on dial-up, so I'm going to head in town where I can use broadband. Back in a few.
This time i will be going over in details about UGR threshold which is the most consistent deck in Legacy. This is my personal take on the deck type though with a cool name.
Threshold Mirror: Preboard this matchup can be about even. I think this matchup highly depends on who has superior playskill in playing this deck against the other. Postboard gets better for you since you can sideboard in gilded drakes to take control of their werebears, fledgling dragons, mystic enforcers, and of course tarmogoyf. Also EE(engineered explosives) can turn the tables into your favor as well depending on if your going to play more of the control approach which I normally do or just beat down.
Cephalid Breakfast: This matchup is definetly in your favor even preboard. You have stifles to ruin their 4 color manabase since they probably play with alot of fetch lands. Also you can remove and also counter their cephalids and just go aggressive as soon as possible. Postboard gets even better since you can board in pyroclasms, engineered explosives, and tormod's crypts to ruin their engine to comboing off via en-cors, dread return, and more.
Ichrorid Bridge: This match can go either way preboard all depends on if you can get a fast enough clock or not to bring them to a halt. Postboard gets much better though since of tormod's crypts and pyroclasms as well as stifles for their flame-zealots and zombies.
Landstill: Preboard this matchup can go either way as well depending how fast you can put a clock on them and also if you have the right disruption to take care of their fetchlands and also standstills. Postboard probably gets better for you since you can bolt and fire/ice their factories and you can counter their standstills via force of wills, red elemental blasts, and spell snare. You also have pithing needles to hold their clock at bay as well.
CRET Belcher: This matchup is favorable for you but of course that depends on if you can draw the appropiate disruption at the right time like having a opening force of will on the draw can be significant at countering their first turn belcher. Postboard probably will be much better for you since you will have pithing needles on belcher, pyroclasms and also EEs to take care of their Empty of the warren tokens as well as EEs to take care of belcher when necassary.
Iggy Pop: This matchup can be even or unfavorable for you preboard since you have stifles to take their storm combo out of commision as well as having plenty of first turn countermagic. Also there leyline of the void could be a problem though so thats why I have Burning shaman in there since it's not crippled by the effects of leyline. Postboard gets even better since you can sideboard in tormod's crypts to prevent them from doing the nasty ill-gotten gains loop. You also can bring in pyroclasms and EEs to take care of their empty of the warren tokens as well.
Goblins: You have a favorable matchup preboard since you can literally outrace them with plenty of direct damage spells as well as tarmogoyf of course. Postboard gets better since you can board in pithing needles to stop their aether vials from going to town as well as pyroclasms to sweep their goblin hordes.
Card Choices:
Forest, Island, Mountain: I put these basic lands in so wastelands won't totally own me. Also the fact that these basic lands dodges back to basics and bloodmoon which can show up anyday now.
Burning Tree-Shaman: I put this in solely because to make this deck more resilient to grave-yard in the form of crypts, jotun grunts, and phyxerian furnace. Also this card can be nasty in the mirror because having them take 2-3 extra damage from the fetchlands can cost them the game if they can't gain life. Although I would be careful not to cast it if you still have a bunch of duals or basics still to fetch. Otherwise Shaman has been working out pretty well.
Portent: This card mainly is to fill the graveyard and also it has great synergy with predict which can be a strong card in the mid to late game.
Temporal Spring: Alacar suggested this card by the way. I was impressed with having one in here since you can bounce back any threat and also it works really well with gilded drake.
Stifle: Probably the all-around and best blue counterspell in legacy in tense of utility. Countering fetchlands is always nice since it makes you have a bit of a better tempo then your opponent which is always important especially in the first 3 turns of any match. Also countering ringleaders from facing goblins can often win you games. Also it helps protect your dual lands from wastelands. Not to mention its a techy card against storm combo decks.
Ponder: awesome card in this deck and works really well to have more spells like portent to make your predicts more efficient.
Gilded Drake: This card single-handly can win you games against the mirror since it can take control just about anything except mongooses. Also packed with lightning bolts and red elemental blasts gilded drake can act like a permanent Control magic which is pretty nice.
Well that is it for now for this week legacy of the week stay tuned until next time! Enjoy everyone.
Alright, I have Skype up and running in here on the work computer, the one with broadband. I'm going to take it home soon and see if I can get it to work on dialup. I've added all of you that I could find to my contact list, but if you have Skype and haven't gotten a new contact message from me, just click the icon under my avatar over there. Feel free to contact me, anybody, if you see that I'm on while you are - I'd love to hear from one of you guys.
Edit:
Thanks for helping me test it, Photon. It works fairly well, and seems like a nifty thing to have. I haven't seen someone call me with video yet, and I'm not sure if the video gets any bigger than the small little square beside the contact info during the call, but hey, at least it works. I also discovered the "live" feature, which lets you listen in to large group chats other people are having, pretty much like a voice-based forum, or a giant voice-chatroom. Neat stuff.
A friendly service reminder to those of you on Skype who have listed their names publicly on these forums: I've added you. I'm Michael Perry (crimsonsanx) for those of you who get notices or anything like that. Skype's not on often because I don't exactly have a strong voice not to mention my headset doesn't seem to be the greatest. Just thought I'd toss that bit of information out there. And for those of you who are unlisted on the forums feel free to add me - just lemme know you add me so I know who's who...
I've registered with Skype, yes? If you have as well, drop me an AIM so I can add you. (My AIM name is FreakOut559 or PlagueOfPuppets). Is there a compiled list somewhere?
Wow, I'm glad that whole thing was cleared up! I was starting to worry since there were no posts yesterday.
Nothing new since my last post, other than I started reading a new webcomic called Misfile. You may or may not have seen a thread about it in the water cooler, I think it was. I read the first few pages and I sucked right in. I love the humor, and the concept is unique and makes for a good time. Its definitely worth a look.
Well im busy trying to get my car permits in order so i cant post much lately ;p plus i got thesis to worry about and that DFD aint gonna draw itself up... so basically i've been busy.
Lorwyn: I must say lorwyn is a pendulum set for me...some things i like others i detest...others i love....other just make me puke...i am kinda waiting for the green command to see how much i want to make a UG control/aggro-control deck... either that or i go WG plowing
