Afternoon, Coffeebeans. I've had a full day already. Full day of MWF classes, with some work actually on the horizon. Work I have to do at home. Ewww. But I am loving acting class.
Seeya later Buzz. Good to know you're still checking in on us.
urza's toilet: Wow, that is a wild school system. But I guess being on the southern hemisphere changes things for you guys.
Well, round 1 of the FCC will be done tonight. Here's hoping my entry makes it in. Not that I'm asking any of you to go to my blog and look at my entry.
When I did my interview today it was with the department lead. He said he would be getting out the "offers" either at end of day today or by tomorrow. Offers meaning he would tell us if we had the job or not.
So I just go an email from him. It was an email saying he will be out of office for five days. Only reason I should get an email like that is if I have been added to his team mailing list. I assume anyways.
EDIT : Just got a second email
Thank-you for taking the time to meet with me and showing an interest in becoming a TCO Case Manager.
The response to the posted positions was overwhelming and we are still reviewing the results of the interviews.
Final decisions will be made over the next 2 days, and if selected you will receive an offer letter and a schedule on Monday Sept. 10th with an effective start date of Tues. Sept. 11th.
@alacar: thanks very much! I hope your day went well too. *hugs*
Well Anyway I made another deck for legacy yes its another control deck and no its not landstill. I am planning on playing it at the mana leak open 3 this coming november.
Damnation, wrath of god, and engineered explosives: All of these spells are to hit any aggro deck in the format hard.
vindicate: This is probably one of the best utility cards in this deck since it can remove anything from counterbalance in thresh or fish to cards like pithing needle.
Daze: Just adds an unexpected first turn counter to the deck.
Decree of justice: A card that can single handly win you games in this deck you can probably pull off a big decree more then half of the time with all of the disruption in this deck.
Engineered plague: This card can be sideboarded in against goblins and even against cephalid breakfast where their important combo piece in cephalid illusionist by naming wizard.
Stifle: Probably the best blue utility spell as far as all-around usefulness goes.
Extirpate: This card singlehandly gives you an upperhand against landstill, also can cripple alot of good combo decks in the format.
Spellsnare: tarmogoyf mostly and possibly some black suicide decks that are sometimes run in big size tournaments.
Meddling Mage: Another card that can disable combo if you use the card right but of course mage won't totally stop combo in its tracks.
Any particular reason. I say drop at least one for Mirri of the Sith.
Well i just wanted to add some classic beatings to the deck so no particular good reason. Although I don't know what mirri of the sith does is that a lorewyn card? So far the deck has been testing well against Cephalid Breakfast, goblins, and UGR threshold although i haven't tested against the white splash version yet. I really like the feel for the deck and I think it can put it good results since people won't be expecting this particular control build.
To any of you all starting out college: seriously, take good notes if there's any chance at all you'll need them again. I'm trying to study for the CS GRE, and my notes are spotty as hell. Half of them are just sentence fragments, and they're interspersed with tons of doodles and things that frankly baffle me. (The page that I'm looking at now has "Murnsday Bonday" written on it, as well as "rare magic ore" further down. This is supposed to be notes about programming languages.)
Darth Mirri She has haste and eats Goblins and most Threshold creatures.
In the other slot I would suggest Plague Sliver. Its a good cheap Juzzam, and is random tech for counter-sliver, or any other sliver based deck some noob will bring along. You know someone will.
Btw Ive just woke up. Now im into the Chapter 3 of my thesis..*sigh*
@Joyd: I also suggest to always save their projects and files for future use. Its very useful by the time they need it again.
Oh crap, Im havin a hard time saving the fund for my new dream CPU. Just the Core 2 Duo processor makes my wallet empty and Im planning to buy two..I can wait for Quad but that will be much more expensive..*sigh* And what comes next? Dual-processor supported Motherboard, 2 Gb rams, atleast 256 Video Card, A DVD writer, a Lan card, Auxiliary funs, Casing, Power supply, 200 Gb hard drive, ETC..WAAAA!!! Im losing fat nowadays and I miss eating like I used to be..Maybe if I sell my Magic cards? NOOOOO!!!!
Well, best of luck Sakura to getting the job you applied for!
Also, Cecilia, thanks for another Legacy deck. I really need to go and get the cards for the format again (as I said before, my biggest regret was selling off my Legacy binder last year).
I had my first full day of the school year today, nothing that really exciting, a few people I've bet before, wasn't able to talk to/introduce myself to many new people. Classes have started off with a bunch of random work to go and do, and now I'm trying to debate and figure out which will be the class this semester that I blow off and just skim by in. Aside from that, not sure how regular my net will be, this does look like a nicely sized workload for these next few weeks at least.
And to top it off, I still need to bother finding a job somewhere.
If you've ever seen a little show called Sabrina: The Teenage Witch, congratulations! You already have a firm grasp on the premise of this anime. Feel free to skip forward to the review.
For everyone else - this is a fun little combination of the magical girl and high school comedy genres. The premise runs something like this: a regular highschool girl (Ayu) finds out her best friend is really a witch. Not the old-fashioned ugly kind of witch with a broom, though; Nina is much more sophisticated. She uses her palmtop to cast spells (because computers are much more fashionable, honestly), and she has a talking cat named Rio for a pet. Somehow, Nina's spells seem to always end up getting Ayu into more trouble than they do good, though, even when Nina means well. What's an apprentice witch to do? Ayu can hardly muster the courage to ask Kaji out as it is, let alone with Nina there to complicate things.
The plot stays relatively light and fun throughout, while still maintaining an over-arching thread (Nina and her rival's quest for 5 missing holy stones) that links the whole thing together. Like any high school comedy, it has a good dose of lighthearted romance, each of the main characters paired with a guy she can never quite find the courage to ask out at first. The story, to make things short, is a good one, with enough cute moments (and genuinely funny moments) throughout to make it worth the watch. The magical girl elements of the show could use some fine tuning, but if you don't take it too seriously and question the logistics of computer-aided spellcasting, everything else is fine. It's certainly on par with its American counterpart, Sabrina - if you enjoy one, you'll probably enjoy the other, assuming you like anime.
Hey Coffee addicts, I'm back from my short break. I was gone in Vancouver for a week, then I left my laptop at my Brother's, but now I've returned.
My trip went very very well. My bro and I planned my life, I met a girl out there and we saw Stardust. Excellent movie, btw. It's based on the book by Neil Gaiman, and while it can be cliche and predictable at times, it's still very very cute and has it's moments of humour. The movie is much funnier and romantic, but the book does a better job of going into characters.
Also, I'd like to thank Mr. Stuff for suggesting the coldfire trilogy. Great set of books! I love the characters and their various moral dilemmas.
GOod choice on the anime of the week, I 've seen the first 3 episodes of Ultra Maniac, and enjoyed them all. On a related note, I picked up the entire box set of comic party and thought it was wonderful.
Oh, and I bought a new TV for my room. 26" samsung LCD
Anyways, I'm running low on time, but I just thought I'd drop in and say a quick salutation. Seeya 'round!
gah.. I got a cramp in my knee and my foot.. luckily I only have one class tomorrow morning, and that's not a big problem. I'll just get my reading done for it. I still need to keep tabs on my class schedules.. I hate it when work starts to build onto itself and I can't keep up.

A new TV you say? That sounds great! I wish I had a decent sized one.
On another note... Holy cow, somebody finally read the Coldfire Trilogy! It's great, isn't it? One of the back covers has a quote comparing it to something like "a rich red wine", and I think that metaphor fits nicely. The characters exhibit such a great intermixture of light and dark. There are no real "squeaky clean" good guys to be found - all of the "heroes" are fighting for their own very personal reasons, and I love how they struggle constantly with their hatred for one another versus their reasons for seeking one another's aid. And that's just the characters; the concept for the world is a whole 'nother amazing fish entirely. I'm glad you liked it, PurpleD.
As for the AotW - it's cute, it's funny, and it's a good story. That's about all there is to it. It doesn't try to be especially deep or go out of its way to avoid cliches, but it's good for what it is. Romantic Comedy is one of my favorite genres, and Ultra Maniac was one of my first, so I have fond memories of it.
Sigh... I keep saying I'm going to go back and catch up with actual conversations and things, but I keep putting it off. Right now, I'm in the middle of watching Texhnolyze, and it's getting really good, so... I guess I'm putting it off again. Ah well.
Hey PurpleD, haven't seen you for a while. *waves*
I'm lovin' my new school schedule, even though I have 2 classes for college credit this semester and another next semester, one is psychology which I love, the other two are Calc. I & II which always ends two weeks early at the end of the year and has a great teacher. My last class is Creative Writing which has given me more homework than the two others combined O.o (Completely because of the teacher, who is actually one of my favorites even though he likes homework so much.) But it's really fun just having a whole block set aside to writing, and the teacher's not afraid to really dig into your work and tell you to scrap the stuff that doesn't work. (although today I was one of the few people who he didn't want to change the sentence he had us write at all :D.)

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
hello all , im new here to the coffee house and to the MTGsalvation Forums. MTG is THE best card game ever, and ive played just about all, i joined in on all the fun in plainshift. I love to run Aggro decks, control is no fun for me and theres only one combo deck i like and its the sunny side up deck, lol Coffeehouse + Sunnyside up, okie bad joke , but its true ive seen many combo decks played and its the only one i like. I run aggro becasue its fast and always fun, at this time im runnin a mono green arggo ( Groundbreaker, Timbermare, Forcemage....) and working on a WU aggro-control i guess you can call it, mostly aggro though. Then ill be workin on my version of the sunny side up deck.
Anyways, I play mostly Type 1 and casual. I would love to be arpart of the magic coffee house, it would be fun! and I always need my daily fix of coffee lol
Normally, I hate getting stuck on hold to people, as it's endlessly frustrating. However, when it's HP, I forgive them, because they have much better hold music than most places. I got most of the way through the legendary More Than A Feeling before they actually answered and tried to solve my problem. And then Dr Hook. Sweet.
I have three Boston LPs, including the one with More Than A Feeling on it. So good.
I have two/three more exams and I'm done with school for the term! Then I go sailing for 4 days then working at the digi printing place for a week, and then I'm on full holidays.
A hearty good morning to everyone in the coffeehouse, and a hello to fidget.
So.. after a marathon handful of hours on my DS, I managed to beat Final Fantasy II. It was actually a challenge in the last area, and I was nearly out of items to replenish my party's HP/MP; thankfully my elixirs held out. The final boss was tough, until I realized the Blood Sword's damage was based on the enemy's total HP, so I wailed on him for upwards of 7,000 damage each round.
What does this mean to you non-RPG geeks? I dunno. But it does mean I'm able to begin the far-superior Final Fantasy IV.
Well, I only have one class today, and it's at 9:35, so I'm off. Seeya later coffeegeeks.

@charlieD: Goodluck with your exams.
@nemcon: Thanks the deck has done very well against threshold I beat a administrator that manage the source of legacy 3 out of 4 games that plays alot of the deck. They weren't easy by any means but thats MWS for you.
Otherwise I haven't really tested the deck against other matchups yet. I will also show a more updated list as well but for now I gotta get ready so cya all later. have a good one

Hiya fidget! Welcome to the coffeehouse! If you like MGA that much(Well Im sensing youre the MGH archetype) then youre talkin to the green mage Hunter44. It would be a pleasure to see you and post your opinions in the standard forums, or just click the MGA link under my sig. See ya there!
Been a while since I posted so I thought I'd drop a line. Lately, I'm not finding this place interesting at all... I dunno why exactly but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
Seph: I know I can't help you much regarding that since I don't know the code to do it but I found this and thought it might work: http://www.focalmedia.net/htmlrotate.html
Barring that though I'm sure Alacar would definitely know the answer to that as he's set up rotating banners before thru his site.
Myself: The last week was one of the more boring weeks ever. And I'm finding that odd as all heck since I'm usually really busy this time of year. I'm sure it'll solve itself but until then... I'm stuck with not much to do and not much to comment about. Sorry I can't give more...
Anyway, I better go get myself some lunch then finish my FCC judgings. I'm finding myself a bit surprised with what I'm seeing in there this month.

Been a while since I posted so I thought I'd drop a line. Lately, I'm not finding this place interesting at all... I dunno why exactly but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
Seph: I know I can't help you much regarding that since I don't know the code to do it but I found this and thought it might work:

Barring that though I'm sure Alacar would definitely know the answer to that as he's set up rotating banners before thru his site.
Myself: The last week was one of the more boring weeks ever. And I'm finding that odd as all heck since I'm usually really busy this time of year. I'm sure it'll solve itself but until then... I'm stuck with not much to do and not much to comment about. Sorry I can't give more...
Anyway, I better go get myself some lunch then finish my FCC judgings. I'm finding myself a bit surprised with what I'm seeing in there this month.
In a good way or a bad way?
