There is still some hope left and thus still has a chance to revive everything.

Anyhow, I used to be in the Coffeehouse a long time ago, but went inactive for a long time. If it's possible, I'd like to return as a casual customer for now.
Aaand, about me. Yeah. Anthony, 15 y/o. I know Myta from school, though she just graduated. Which means that I'm from the Philippines.
Wow.. sorry to hear that news, Photon.. my condolences go out to you and yours
Sorry I've been gone for a while, folks. Being alone in a house with nothing to do.. well I kinda got burnt out on MTGS for a while. I'm gonna try posting a little more.
Farewell, FL--I hope you come back soon
Oh yeah.. I lost round 6 0-2.. so I'm in a very peculiar situation--if I win round 7, I have a chance to make top 8. If I lose.. then I'm out. No what ifs now. Wish me luck folks.

I just got a bit of bad news that has me pretty upset. My younger brother is being left by his fiancee. She told him this morning she is moving out, and he's really pretty devastated by it. They have been living together since September, and had just set their wedding date for October.
Right now, it's just a "separation", but you know how those tend to work out. I'm just really afraid that if it completely falls apart, he'll be left with baggage and attachment issues for the rest of his life, because I know how he tends to work emotionally, and I can see him ending up that way.
It just really upsets me. I really don't want my little brother to get hurt, but there isn't much I can do.
Also, I feel crappy about it all because tomorrow is Josh's birthday, and every year since we've lived together some big crap has happened on his birthday and basically ruined it, and it looks like this year it is not really any different.
Im sorry to hear that Photon. I think what you should do is just stay with your brother always and make him feel comfortable. I hope he can work things out.

Sorry about your brother, Photon. I wish things could be better just for once today for him.
Big thunderstorm today, it's been stifling hot and hazy all weekend and I hope this will clear the air a bit. The lady down the street finally brought her dog in, which is good considering I was about to go down and liberate the poor mutt so he could come in out of the rain. I hate it when people tie their dogs up in the back yard like some kind of patio furniture and forget about them.

As for our brother . . . he seems to feel better than he did this morning. He and I talked for the good part of the afternoon while we were at work, and it seemed to clarify some things for him. He says he doesn't think they'll split up, but it's hard to be apart right now. I know for quite a while he'd been talking about hardly ever getting to spend time with her and being depressed about that, and she's wanting to spend less time together.
They both started in on their realtionship pretty quickly and moved in together around the same time, making an awful lot for them both to adjust to. She's saying now that she feels like they went too fast, which I'm inclined to agree with.
The only thing that worries me now is that they seem to have been having some communication problems, and I hope they can work them out. Put simply, he's felt left out and ignored by her recently, and feels like she just won't try to understand that. And she's been experiencing pressure and feeling like she isn't allowed to be around her other friends anymore, and hasn't been telling him this in full because she's afraid he won't understand or will get mad.
After today, he said he could see where she was coming from more clearly, and that he thought they could come to a resolution. They still seem to have an issue, though, with her blaming or criticizing him for getting upset about things as he tends to do, and him being a bit jealous. I think it will be fine if they just keep talking about it, listen well, and compromise. They're still seeing each other, just spending time apart in the meantime.
Frankly, I'm glad it came out in the open now before they got married and made further big decisions. The agreement between them seems to be that they don't feel like they understands each other as well as they first thought. They have a lot in common, but there are key differences, too. I hope this time will help them come to terms with that, understand each others' needs better, and slow things down enough to take a look at their relationship.
Still, I feel bad for him. I know he's at home without her right now, probably really lonely and wondering just what he can do about it all. It's a very painful situation to be in.
They both seem pretty optimistic, though, and I think there's good reason for that.
All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
Well, maybe it's not a good time to say this, but I just want to make you guys smile.
My cousin just gave birth to a healthy baby boy. They named him Daniel Thomas S. Lizares. He's 7.8 pounds and very loud, as my cousin said to me over the phone. I'm taking care of my niece and nephew, his older siblings, but I'm going to prepare to go to the hospital in a bit. I'm really excited! I'll post pictures, promise!

As promised, here are the pictures. Change that 7.8 to 7.11lbs. He looks like his father (a little Chinese-looking) and a little like my two uncles (my mom's brothers). He was born today, May 28, 2007, at 1:30 in the afternoon.
Oh yeah I'm going to add a picture of my new kitten.
Don't worry, there's nothing to be offended about. I understand completely your frustration... It is kinda weird why instead of the Polish people (and those of other nationalities) learning the language of the country they're going to work in the English have to learn their languages... I know that the knowledge of the English language among my people is quite lacking, as the public schools don't really teach on a sufficient level.
This whole migration is caused by the fact that when communism was abolished, we theoretically gained access to all the wonders of the Western world... but not really the financial means to enjoy them. Nowadays, even after graduating from a university and working for many years people here earn as little as 2000 zł a month (after counting off all the taxes)... young people straight out of school earn a lot less, seldom enough for them to buy a flat, a car, start a family... so they search for a better future in other countries.
Lol, does leaving for a few days really leave you with such a sense of guilt?
Anyway, good luck and see you soon.
Very sweet... both the boy and the kitten.
Also, congrats on RotW!
@ Photon and Mamelon: I hope that your brother and his fiancée manage to resolve their differences and that it's all going to end fine.
And... I made myself a new outfit which I'm quite happy about.
Thanks Umgenni. More pampers to buy, but it's worth having a bundle of joy around.
And let's not forget the REAL reason we celebrate Memorial Day, everyone.
Unfortunately, Josh's birthday falls on the holiday, so we can't go out for dinner anywhere too special tonight. I think we'll hit the teahouse tomorrow, but for tonight a special dinner will just have to do.
I'm not sure what to make, though, since the boy is sort of finicky at times. I'm wanting to make my almond-Parmesan chicken, but that's really more along the lines of something I like, rather than what he likes...
Anyway...

@Photon & mame: Hope he is feeling better today. It's hard enough when you aren't one of the brooding types. Worryworts are their own worst enemies and need a lot of effort to get them to focus on something positive in their lives.

@Umk: Wasn't aware of a new MM effort...he's kinda fallen off the radar recently.
Also, my neighborhood in Baltimore (technically St. Casimir's Parish) has a large Polish immigrant population, mostly second generation but there are more and more firsthand immigrants every year. Most of them are IT or medical/biotech people looking for jobs in industry. It's not as large as Chicago's community but it's reasonably well established; people still prefer to speak Polish when they get here though and so a lot of businesses have signs in Polish only and for instance my doctor is Polish and thought I was too on my first visit (I'm Polish Jew on my grandmother's side, her family fled Poznan through Riga in the early 1900's.) Our next door neighbor's granddaughter went to Katowice to teach English, and for some reason she and her friends found that amusing, that someone would actually go to Poland to try and improve their English there, rather than arranging for them to come here and learn it by immersion. It's sad, because it's a beautiful country that deserves respect.
@alacar: congrats to your parents for winning one grand.
@ether: happy birthday to you! Best wishes to you and your family ether.

Well, I turned 26 today. And, as I say every single year, I still feel like I'm only nineteen. That's a good thing, I suppose =)
Tomorrow we're going out to eat at the tea house, and ya know what that means; OMG PANINI. I can't wait.
God, you are so cute sometimes.
So, it's been really dead in here today. What the hell, people?
Meanwhile, I'm developing an unhealthy love for Jones soda. I'm not really a soda fan, but they have GREEN APPLE flavored soda! And blueberry pomegranate! It's just too damn good!

See...the concept of blueberry pomegranate soda frightens me. How much sugary flavor can you pack into one aluminum can?
It is sweet, but it's not a cloying sweetness. It's a very different flavor for a soda, though. Most sodas have a crisp flavor, but the blueberry a lot more mellow than you expect when you drink it.

I am also going to play round 7 in the standard tournament either tonight or sometime tommorrow hopefully. Looks like i dont have a chance to make top 8 though but thats okay ill try to make top 20 by winning round 7 hopefully with mga which will be pretty good. @Photon:
Sounds like it'd be pretty good then. However, orange cream soda - that's where it's at. Of course, I am fairly addicted to Dr. Pepper, so I don't really have that much room to talk on the subject. As a much wiser man than myself, a one Dr. Travis Doom, once said, "I don't drink it for the taste. I drink it for the power".
Hehe, I'm back from my three day vacation. I've got five hours of work tomorrow, and then I get yet another day off. Life is good. An hour of fighting the current to climb upstream in a shallow, rock-bottomed river with your bare hands does wonders to work off stress. Of course, we did forget to bring sleeping bags, so we had to make do with a single sheet, a single blanket, and a couple of beach towels to cover five people. We were sleeping inside a decomissioned RV, though, so it was all right.
Happy B-day, Ether, and congrats on RotW, Myta.

It is sweet, but it's not a cloying sweetness. It's a very different flavor for a soda, though. Most sodas have a crisp flavor, but the blueberry a lot more mellow than you expect when you drink it.
Love,
Cecilia
