Well, as for me, I'm still working this awful telemarketing job so I can keep my health insurance. I just recently put in an application at CDI in Korea to go and teach there, and got a response back surprisingly quickly - they are very interested in me. I submitted an essay as per their requirements, and am awaiting word back on that. If it works out, I will be signed up to go teach English in South Korea for a year, at which time I will either renew the contract or come back to the states. I'm applying today to two jobs that offer a similar setup in Japan, which is where I really want to teach. I haven't heard much about Aeon, but NOVA has had some troubles recently regarding work conditions and other things, so I'm a bit wary, but I'm still applying since they are the biggest language school chain in Japan. I have to write another essay, which I plan on doing today after work.
Apart from work, I've been fine, and just recently went to CollossalCon, and anime convention in Cleveland, OH.
Good to hear news back on your mother, Snoop. At least she's doing well. Maybe you can talk her through getting some of the stuff thrown out? Well, anyway, you don't have to worry so much anymore, so that's good to hear.
Snoop, I highly doubt that your mother's landlord can force you to do anything so long as you're not paying her rent. Although she has a right to want her properties kept in a certain way, and she can evict your mom, you're under no obligation to do anything you simply can't do.
An update on me? Sure.
I've been really busy lately with the Pen & Paper Inn, running two campaigns and playing in one. Pokémon Diamond claims my soul even now, when I've beaten the Elite Four a few times and clocked 144 hours. On the personal side of things, Josh and I are doing well as usual. Financial responsibilities suck, but then again they always do. Broken electronics suck, too. I've also realized that I've been a masculist since I was, oh I don't know, ten =)
And no, her landlord can't command you to do anything but they can evict her for failing to keep the apartment in proper condition. Would it be possible to contact a maid service where she lives, explain the situation, and hire them for a one-shot job?

Its possible you could talk her into holding a garage sale? Or advertise that the stuff she has is from a dead relative by holding an estates sale... people flock to both looking for deals. Otherwise if its just crap she has ask a neighbor to help by mailing her some cash to have them come in and clean it out. Do you have any friends there or a way to personally contact the next door neighbors to assist? Landlords know people that do odd jobs for cash, ask her to look into the matter as its cheaper to keep her in there than to have it vacant until someone else moves in.

In other news, I've decided to start on an autobiography. It sounds pretentious no matter who says it or how, but I've been getting such an itch to do it.
Interesting to know that the "Wanted" minigame goes up that far.. I got up to level, i think, 96... maybe past that now, I forgot exactly... I want it to be morning, so that I can get up early, have a cup of coffee with Mom, and then spend some time doing different things.... working on my thesis for one, playing videogames, reading, maybe watching a movie... I don't know, really....
EDIT: And, Buzz...a group in a game based on that book? Do tell.. I'd be interested to hear about that, providing it doesn't give away too many spoilers, as I'm only 28 pages into the book
Also about DQ8... Simpleton, yeah, I wouldn't mind but I need to go into the Abbott's chambers before Dhoulmagus kills him And I'm at Level 12, 12 and 10 I believe.. How is that level wise for the ruined abbey?
Yeah, I probably could have kept going, but I was really sleepy. For DQ8, Ether has a point. Fighting some Metal Slimes are great for xp if they don't run away.
As for the book, the game is a browser-based MMO I play, and its a bit of a time sink, personally. From what I understand, they named their characters after characters from the book, and like to role-play accordingly.
Sad to hear about the situation with your mom, snoop. I personally don't think it's right for the landlady to evict her if YOU don't go out there, but I can also understand the landlady's most obvious frustration.

In other mother related news, Ive been having to deal with a raving, crazy, menopause-afflicted mother myself lately, which doesn't help when you're still in high school and have to obey, unlike my brothers who are adults who can avoid her wrath.

Its time for a Buzz news update!
I've been working mostly, among other things. Been playing more Tales of Symphonia, got a new fridge with an Icemaker (Finally!). I've also been looking at an external hard drive since I had a virus scare about a week ago. I'm also looking into getting some more RAM for my computer. That's about all that's new with me.
I'm just testy all of a sudden and I seriously can't figure out why. So yeah, sorry.
I'm actually writing. Strange for me to feel that head rush that comes with an endless, unrelenting tapping of the keyboard, but I'm really doing it. I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but it really is for me. This is the first time I've written anything other than an RP post in about three years, and I'm literally elated. So yeah, bad mood's going away =)
I want to show it off, but it's only like four paragraphs and I'd seem like such an AP English student, heh.
Anyone else in the 'house have experience with the Personal Writing forum? I'm really considering joining, and I'm kind of crazy for not having done so yet, but I don't really know what kind of place it is.
I remember the ruined abbey being a pretty short dungeon i believe and there i think you can just walk straight to get to the end of the dungeon i would advise buying antidote and medical herbs though so you don't need to waste magic points healing since having maximize magic points can make a big difference when fighting bosses. Just a small and simple tip for you.
Orgodemir is one tough cookie though ether i thought his first form was tough but his 2nd form just seems twice as hard. Im only on level 30 on average so thats probalby why.:p

I was around level 36 when I fought Orgodemir, Kev. He was a real challenge for me, too. I think the only reason I won out over him was because I had a party of three Heroes and one Summoner; Meribel's a firecracker with those high-level attack spells and the Hero's ability to recover HP every round is invaluable. I actually found myself using Hustle Dance a lot, too O_o;;

oh wow i dont have any of the the godly classes i just tried to beat him with my regular characters i need the freaking healus spell at least though then i can conserve more mp and more time to attack him since his 2nd form is just way too strong to just keep on using healmore or healall for 3 characters.
After my final season of legacy which my career of legacy will end this coming december i have decided i am going to play extended for awhile and alot of casual of course. Oh well i played legacy for long enough anyway like 5 years after this december.

I have limited experience with the personal writing forum. The users seemed supportive while I was there. Most of the stories in it are mtg based if I remember though. They were fairly tiring to read sometimes imo ;). But, I'm not sure what you want out of the forums besides a place to post the autobiography and other writings.

I've written stuff and posted it there before... not too much tho, and that's where I got to know Shadowfox a bit... I don't know about many others who frequent the place though..... And remember, today is the Summer Solstice, which means it is the longest day of the year... so enjoy it!!!!!!!!! I'm not sure how that works for those of you in other countries... I would assume its still the first day of summer for you, but I don't know about the longest day of the year... that, with the sun's movements can be kinda tricky to figure out.. any help figuring that one out?
Oh and also concerning my skill allotment for DQ8, I'm putting my skills right now, into swords for the Hero, axes for Yangus and whips for Jessica.... I got her the thorn whip earlier.... any suggestions for that, should I be putting my skills someplace else? What bout courage for the hero and Humanity for Yangus?? Or even Sex Appeal for Jessica? I'm not sure exactly what the benefit of those 3 skills are... Any help there??
Anyway, I should be working on my senior thesis... the first segment is due on Monday... I still have time, but I was thinking of working on it today earlier... but because I went to sleep again around 4:30, (cuz i couldn't sleep at 12:30 when I actually went to bed), I ended up sleeping until 1:15... Missing Law & Order again, dammit.. I think now its time for me to start setting an alarm... my body is starting to get used to Pacific Time again...
Anyway, I'm gonna jump in the shower and figure out what to do until Mom gets home (then we're going to go out to dinner and stuff in honor of the Summer Solstice..) Anyway, I think until then, I'll probably read or play DQ8 or Kingdom Hearts..

I would honestly suggest, from whta it sounds, that you tell someone to actually put her into an extended-care home like that... It sounds like she would be much better off there.... I'd say go for it and make it happen.. This is just my impression from what I've read though...

Meh, it's not my first choice. I've seen what happens to people like her in nursing homes. The kind of behavior she displays to others will have very serious consequences for the quality of her care. Staff members don't like being yelled at, spit on, bombarded with food and nearby objects, called obscenities, threatened with any sort of violence or legal action, etc. It will definitely impact her care and she will get sick, injured, or neglected in a place like that. Not because its a bad place, but because people will avoid her or use excessive force after hours and hours of power struggles over every small detail of her care. She will push too many people's buttons, and someone will do somethng regrettable and it will result in permanent injury or grave illness.
How about a private care provider, in that case? Someone she knows or can endure? You may want to talk to Photon about this.... he seems to know about difficult patients in the health care industry....

Except for those of you in Australia, South America or southern Africa where today is the first day of WINTER! Not that many of you get snow from what I hear. But if yas do - take pictures please! I miss it already...
Also, Omna, The weapon allotment sounds about right - those other skills you mentioned give you new abilities once you reach a certain level with those skills. Of all of the ones I believe it's the Hero's custom skill that's most useful. Not that the others aren't at all (Yangus in particular has a handy skill I believe he learns) but the Hero's is almost necessary if you ask me. But then again I like to finish games underleveled.
@Snoop: Well regardless of the situation, I hope you can figure something out that will work for both you and your mother... sounds particularly rough. On a sidenote - that's how I picture both my parents to be if they were to be put in a nursing home. Rough times.
Update: Well not much has been happening here - as always. I've been helping a friend put a few of his magic cards on ebay and they've been selling at average prices. One guy's making a fuss because of no combined shipping (its costing 5 bucks just to ship this stuff out so combined shipping is a no-no for now) and he's probably not gonna pay for the three small auctions he won - but that concerns me less since he's probably gonna get banned out of it for not reading the auctions before he bid.
I've also been working on putting together a "post-10th" deck (post-10th in quotes because the set's not set yet - tho really it looks like not much of a shakeup at all)... and once I get the last few cards for it I'll get to work on the second one and an extended special. Hopefully those will go smooth.
Between that and also trying to do what I can to help out Photon and Ether for their side project it's been busy enough.

Actually, it doesn't. Companies like CDI and NOVA hire native English speakers to teach to classes that already have a moderate understanding of English - figure about a third-grade English reading level. Our job is to help them improve their already existing skills and further their English studies. Classes are conducted entirely in English.
Granted, I would be living in Korea, so having some basic language skills would be helpful in shopping, interacting with locals, and generally doing anything besides sitting at home and studying. However, these companies have been doing this for years, and I'm sure they provide some kind of assistance or training in the way of day-to-day life. Most likely I'd be paired with someone who has already been there for a while, someone to show me the ropes.

I need to start posting in there. A friend of mine has a pact with herself. She's going to write a page of any short story she's doing, or a poem, every day. I really should do that...
I know, I'm not posting a lot in here lately. I've need a hiatus from reading so much from everyone else, which is a bit hard to do lately. I'll get back in my posting habits...
I know the feeling, and Nai, I really should do the same, about writing a page or so a day... honestly, I want to get the book "No Plot, No Problem!" it was written by the guys who are in charge of NaNoWriMo... (National Novel Writing Month ... November) and the goal of it is to write so many words (forgot how many now....) in 30 days... I have a couple writing projects on the back burner as well as my typical Senior Thesis crap that i need to finish up by Monday... One story I have is kind of a personal writing fantasy story about Omna and her adventures.. nothing really relating to Arguas' campaign (tho I will most likely incorporate Arguas into the story at some point) but more talking about her life, the adventures she undergoes, and the companions she has.... I have a few ideas, but haven't gotten myself motivated enough to actually sit down and write it out.... anybody have that problem??? Most times I don't know what to actually write, and I have a feeling if I can just get myself flowing, I would actually write a lot..... but its that first few sentences that's gotta get me moving.... First things first though, I gotta finish my senior thesis before Monday... THEN when that's done (should only take a day or so of solid work to get that part of it done......) I can focus more freely on other things.. I hope to spend my time tomorrow doing that. After Law & Order, I hope I wake up early enough to catch it....
Anyway, today I went to Ashland... well first I went to the driving range, but they close early on Thursdays, apparently urgh... Then Mom said we could try for the other one in Central Point (about 10 mins away), after we came back from Ashland... and we headed out to Ashland for dinner, I had a top sirloin steak, 10 oz., and french fries, Mom had a fajita quesadilla.. Then we walked through the park a bit, then came back down to town and got a Dagoba (type o' chocolate) mousse tart..it was really gooooooooooood Then instead of going to the driving range ( we were both tired.... bah ) we stopped in at my grandma's which was good.. and we watched the last half of the first episode of Greys Anatomy on tonight, and then drove home, when Mom told me what happened in the first twenty minutes of the second episode (she's watched eveyr one of them apparently, and this one was a repeat) .. I don't know if we have any Greys Anatomy fans in here, but is it my imagination or did they switch actors for the guy who plays Dr. Burke, the one w/ the tremor in his hand???? I could have sworn the guy looks different.... Could be wrong tho..
But anyway, that's basically what's up with me, and I'm headin' out to go to bed... I'm tired, had a beer with dinner so the alcohol is working its way through my system.. gonna go to bed, hopefully I won't be wide awake like last night.. I'm tired enough so i think i'll be asleep soon... if not you'll hear about it Anyway, seriously, good night

I still have time, but I was thinking of working on it today earlier... but because I went to sleep again around 4:30, (cuz i couldn't sleep at 12:30 when I actually went to bed), I ended up sleeping until 1:15... Missing Law & Order again, dammit..
Anyway, I'm gonna jump in the shower and figure out what to do until Mom gets home (then we're going to go out to dinner and stuff in honor of the Summer Solstice..) Anyway, I think until then, I'll probably read or play DQ8 or Kingdom Hearts..

Meh, it's not my first choice. I've seen what happens to people like her in nursing homes. The kind of behavior she displays to others will have very serious consequences for the quality of her care. Staff members don't like being yelled at, spit on, bombarded with food and nearby objects, called obscenities, threatened with any sort of violence or legal action, etc. It will definitely impact her care and she will get sick, injured, or neglected in a place like that. Not because its a bad place, but because people will avoid her or use excessive force after hours and hours of power struggles over every small detail of her care. She will push too many people's buttons, and someone will do somethng regrettable and it will result in permanent injury or grave illness.

Except for those of you in Australia, South America or southern Africa where today is the first day of WINTER! Not that many of you get snow from what I hear. But if yas do - take pictures please! I miss it already...
Also, Omna, The weapon allotment sounds about right - those other skills you mentioned give you new abilities once you reach a certain level with those skills. Of all of the ones I believe it's the Hero's custom skill that's most useful. Not that the others aren't at all (Yangus in particular has a handy skill I believe he learns) but the Hero's is almost necessary if you ask me. But then again I like to finish games underleveled.
@Snoop: Well regardless of the situation, I hope you can figure something out that will work for both you and your mother... sounds particularly rough. On a sidenote - that's how I picture both my parents to be if they were to be put in a nursing home. Rough times.
Update: Well not much has been happening here - as always. I've been helping a friend put a few of his magic cards on ebay and they've been selling at average prices. One guy's making a fuss because of no combined shipping (its costing 5 bucks just to ship this stuff out so combined shipping is a no-no for now) and he's probably not gonna pay for the three small auctions he won - but that concerns me less since he's probably gonna get banned out of it for not reading the auctions before he bid.
I've also been working on putting together a "post-10th" deck (post-10th in quotes because the set's not set yet - tho really it looks like not much of a shakeup at all)... and once I get the last few cards for it I'll get to work on the second one and an extended special. Hopefully those will go smooth.
Between that and also trying to do what I can to help out Photon and Ether for their side project it's been busy enough.
Actually, it doesn't. Companies like CDI and NOVA hire native English speakers to teach to classes that already have a moderate understanding of English - figure about a third-grade English reading level. Our job is to help them improve their already existing skills and further their English studies. Classes are conducted entirely in English.
Granted, I would be living in Korea, so having some basic language skills would be helpful in shopping, interacting with locals, and generally doing anything besides sitting at home and studying. However, these companies have been doing this for years, and I'm sure they provide some kind of assistance or training in the way of day-to-day life. Most likely I'd be paired with someone who has already been there for a while, someone to show me the ropes.
