@kraj: i would at least try to add remand in there because when i play with remand its always been a pretty good card for me and your deck seems pretty cool but i think adding a little bit more draw spells like compulsive reasearch would be nice as well but im a pure blue player so thats probably why. Also maybe put some terferi's moats in the sideboard would be nice as well all of these are just suggestions though. But then again i dont know the type 2 metagame that well compared to my specialty the legacy format.
See you all soon! I also hope you all had a good day or night so far. :)*hugs and blows kisses to everyone*

@Cecilia : There are 8 Draw spells in there, and they all dodge the hindrance of Enduring Renewel and Weirding. Their should be no problem drawing cards.
I'm going to see Transformers tonight. Anyone else going to see it?
I just got back from seeing it... twice in a row. I watched it the first time, and while the credits rolled, I just sort of sat there in utter disbelief - and then I said to myself, you know, that was so utterly awesome, I have to see it again. So I marched straight across the hall to the other theatre that was showing it, sat down and watched the entire thing a second time. And you know what? I STILL want to see it again. It was that good. Go and see this movie if you know what's good for ya.
Thanks for the wellwishes, everyone, and thanks to Mamelon and Photon for starting my birthday thread. You guys are awesome. Oh, and Mams, I managed to stumble across the manga in your sig, Cafe Kisshouji, while I was browsing mangavolume.com today. I started reading it, and it's pretty good. I like the little chibi parts at the end.
Also, welcome FLCL6969. Hope you enjoy it here.
And Snoop, I know dreams can be scary like that, but the way the human mind works, we tend to look for and remember any parts of dreams that come true and ignore and forget the ones that don't. I wouldn't put any stock in it having any special meaning. If anything, it's a sign that you're worried about your father, which is perfectly normal.

Well the reason why i suggested more draw spells is because courts and telling times are just card quality draw spells but not really card quantity draw spells like compulsive research and ancestral visions. Of course i always did pretty well in legacy with uw landstill and uw control because i would add a combonation of card quality spells via brainstorms and telling times while i had 2-3 fact or fictions and standstills(in landstill only) for card draw quantity. To me card draw quantity is crucial in any blue control deck since thats how control decks operate is solely through card draw tempo and what have you. Thats just some insight from me to share with you all since ive always played blue control style decks in legacy from landstill to uw control.

Once Enduring Renewel is out, Hussar is Quality AND quantity. And for this deck, Quality actually matters much more since he need specific components. Compulsive sux in this deck, if there is weirding or renewel out, there will be alot of situations where the whole hand will be ditched and Compulsive turns into card disadvantage. It turns into "reveal three cards from the top of your deck, really good chance all or most of these will be milled, then discard two cards or a land."

Yeah? Mhm, I bought the first volume out of interest and ended up loving it. The actual chapters are kind of weird at times, and the humor tends to be either subtle or just odd. But the Tiny Chapters are awesome. They're so crazy and cute.
Mangavolume.com lacks the third volume, which I have in paperback. I like that one, too. There's an adorable chibi pic with chibi kitties that I wanted to use for an icon, but ah well.
Minagawa is a hoot, but I think I tend to like Toku and Jun the best. Toku is such a cutie-pie.
I'm glad you appreciated the thread! We couldn't let your birthdays go by without congratulations.
@Starr: I'm sorry you had another bad dream. You seem to have a real problem with nightmares. That has to be rough. If you wouldn't mind, my guess would be that you have a lot of anxiety that just doesn't get dealt with during the day and it comes out in your dreams a lot, especially in dreams about separation or dying. That's no surprise, as you have a very stressful life.
Let me just say, I tend to freak out about my bad dreams coming true. It helps me to remember that much of the time, our dreams have more to do with our feelings than they do with intuitions or our real lives. Another thing that helps for me is to try to "rewrite" the dream, by reimagining myself in it after waking up, only changing key details. I dunno if that will help or not, though.
I hope you feel better.
All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.

Heh is that so? Have you even tried compulsive research ive always find compulsive research to be relevant in acontrol deck and enduring and hussar is two cards while compulsive is only one. My point being is that if you want to pull of the combo with enduring renewal and court i think it brings up more consistency if you run more draw but anyhow just trying to help well excuse me but i didnt know compulsive sucks because i never even tried out the deck just trying to give input and I thought that was a little harsh of you to say that a card that i suggested sucks that actually kind of hurt my feelings.
The problem is that once you get Weirding or Renewel into play, Research is a dead card...and since the whole point of the deck is to get those cards into play that is a bad thing. Cards which use the actual "draw" mechanic are bad synergy for this deck. Compulsive is 4 cards, Renewel/Weirding is 6-8 cards depending on how many are played in the deck. This means you are more likely to draw a card which makes Research useless than the actual Research.
Was not meaning to hurt your feelings. Research is an awesome card, it just serves no purpose in this deck. The only benifet is filling your graveyard, and this is not even that important to the deck overall, and has 6-8 cards which do that already.

Okay well no problem.
You still don't get my point though and i disagree research being a dead card i mean its for to dig deep in your deck to fetch the combo pieces at a more appropiate speed and i dont think research's draw back will hurt you that much considering you run like 24 lands in your deck. Also for research being a dead card it highly depends on the game state really and since Kraj's deck is a control deck its good to draw alot of cards to either draw more answers or to win. Also just because you have 8 utility draw spells and 8 combo pieces or something that doesnt mean your going to draw them all of the time heck solidarity runs alot more draw spells then this and even when you cast a bunch of draw spells it still has a chance to fizzle out.
Well i dont really get what your comparisons are i mean of course obviously brainstorm is much better then compulsive research and you should know better then that sakura ive played legacy for more then 4 years and that comparison between compulsive research to brainstorm is not relevant since brainstorm isnt even legal for type 2.
Well if it works in your playtesting then probably shouldnt tweek the deck but all i was trying to give was suggestions to kraj's deck and thats about it. Im glad i get to catchup on some video games tonight for a long while since ive been so busy these last couple of days with work its a good thing im having tommorrow off.
Also im so happy my internet is working really good again lol.
I saw a friend of mine lose badly in a tournie because he failed to see how badly Brainstorm and Uba Mask interacted. Brainstorm is easily one of the best draw spells ever printed, especially when you can shuffle in order to increase its effectiveness. But with Uba Mask it changes too "remove the top three cards of your deck to the game, then your opponent gets a free Agonizing Memories."
This was not as bad as Compulsive research would be for this deck; A)Brainstorm actually gives him the cards, at least for that turn. B) Uba Mask isn't central to the deck
Yay got my AP Grades back (ty to ninja for the info)
5-5-4 on AP Euro, Eng, and Chinese woot!
btw/ i just watched my pirated transformers chinese Dvd, they'res this point in the middle of hte movie were some guy just jumps up and screams "zhi shi hao sa bi" with a fist pumped aka a colloqial "this movie is the siht"---- so much for their amazing editting skills
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll definitely take them into consideration.
So Transformers.... ya know? Didn't like that much. It was good, but not great. The special effects / the way they did the transformers themselves was fantastic. The plot was pretty decent. But the script was crammed with moments that made me absolutely groan at how cheesy or cliche or predictable they were. And I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to stuff like that. My impression is that they tried to be a bit campy and not take it too seriously, but it went way too far. Also, I forget who said it but recently someone commented to me about how preachy Spielberg has gotten, and oh my God does it show in this movie.
So yeah, there was a ton I didn't like about it. But if you have any interest at all you should see it. It's fun, it's cool, it's just not completely awesome.

Happy 4th of July Starr to you, and with my wish, I bestow upon you a special flag decorated cookie for the 1200th post!!
I'm working on my report.. I decided to take another tack on it, choosing the other option I had, which was:
1) Write a 1-3 page report (in proper report format as outlined in the book) on whether Bruegger's Bagel Bakery (www.brueggers.com) should expand to Seattle, WA, Dallas, TX and/or Charleston, SC. You can make up the facts of the report (e.g., why one location may be better than another), as long as they are somewhat realistic. What I'm looking for here is a correctly formatted, clearly written report.
I personally like this one a lot better.. .right now I have the ideas set up, divisions pretyt much made, but now I need to figure out how to write it.... I hate formatting/writing stuff like this... and I have another one I need to do this weekend... OY. I hate midterms... My midterm is due next Wednesday, but I want to get it DONE with tonight...But I need to finish this assignment first, which is a 1-3 page business report... followed by a at least 5 page business report on the organization of my choice (which is my midterm).. I'm going to be picking the American Library Association... at least I might have a little fun with that one....
Anyway, I need to go do that... Thanks for the tips, Kraj on the other assignment.. I took a look at the annual reports of Kodak and realized how hard it'd be to break it down.... so I decided to go with this one, cuz it seems easier... Here we go... what a 4th of July it will be for me..
But at least around 12 or 1 ish I will be able to go over to my dad's house and hang out with him for a while.... read, play games (maybe) and stuff...
Welcome to another exciting installment of the awards show people just can't seem to get enough of – Regular of the Week! And now, here's your host... Alacarrrrr Leoricarrrrr!
*chirp chirp chirp*
...Alacarrrrrr Leoricarrrrr!
*chirp chirp chirp*
Hmmm, seeing as how our resident host isn't here this week I think I'll just take over, so let's get on with the show! Cue cards please!
This week, our humble recipient is none other than Little Dragon! With the name he says he took because of it being Bruce Lee's nickname, he prefers to be called LilD, LD, or pretty much anything that isn't offensive. A very good way to be flexible!
While his origins on MTGS are somewhat of a mystery, he does say he likes to hang around in the Creativity, Rumor Mill, and Clans forums – especially the latter.
Regarding Magic itself, he says he began playing shortly after the Invasion Prerelease as the strategy involved is what draws him into the game. Under no coincidence of timing, his favorite card is Avatar of Woe. To quote his words:
...she's cheap in a aggresive deck, can kill any creature, and as a decent 6/5 body with fear, just that slightly better than Viscara the dreadful.
His favorite decks include, in particular, a life-gain/Storm Herd combo deck that he claims easily reaches a million life within a couple turns and a version of Dragonstorm. I see Johnny...
When he's not playing magic, he can be found at a few different places, in particular out with friends at the theater or small concerts, or just playin' video games with his massive collection of every console ever made and watching movies with his tons of DVD's and videos, or finally at the dojo he teaches martial arts at. He can only teach kids right now but soon should be able to teach adults as well since he's very close to receiving his master's belt. He hopes to someday start his own dojo and possibly even move to Canada in the next 10 years and travel the world from there.
His creative endeavors include being a folklore/mythology buff. He's so into it he's attempting to make a lexicon so that other people with the same interests can meet up.
And now for the sappiest portion of the show, that of the coffeehouse. He loves this place to death mainly because of the atmosphere it provides, though, admittedly, the grapefruit juice is what kicks him here to start with. His favorite people you ask? Well I'll leave that one to him:
Well I have alot of people who I admire, both Photon & ether, because they are just cool and very nice people to talk to, besides all three of us love rpgs, hunter & myta because they are very hospitible and nice to have around, finally the house would'nt be the same with out our resident kitty Shazzy, Mamelon and who very touching posts and shes just nice in general and finally Alacar, who brings alot of character to the house and is wise choice of Rotw.
And now another edition of MTGS Coffeehouse RotW is complete. A note before I leave though. Due to extenuating circumstances I'll also be handling the RotW for this week as well so look for that to be up soon!
Happy 4th of July Starr to you, and with my wish, I bestow upon you a special flag decorated cookie for the 1200th post!!

Have a great 4th of July everybody in the states!
I can help you with Brueggers. They used to have a handful of franchise stores in metro Seattle, but disappeared about 5 years ago. I never knew why, because they had quality bagels and were convenient. I guess they were competing wanly with the coffee places on every corner, some of which sold bagel sandwiches.
Dallas is a prime place to open a convenience deli, especially a drive through one that's open early. Because of the sprawl and general consumer hostility of Dallas proper, you could get a lot of business setting up drive-thru stands in the burbs. Downtown you won't make it unless you set up shop in or near a hospital.
Don't know anything about life in Charleston. My guess is NO because southeastern cities tend to have a somewhat shorter workday and more emphasis on eating a proper supper rather than grabbing a bagel. It's a cultural thing. Meals are sit-down, social events. Even see a fair amount of hit here in B'more where the workday ends an hour earlier for many, who then go out to a nice restaurant in the evening to sit down, and eat a decent meal. To balance the expense, most families I know prepare breakfast and lunch at home and pack a lunch or buy at the corporate cantina so they can spend as much time sitting and socializing as possible. This isn't a coffee town so the rationale for going out for coffee and an incidental quick bite to eat is not there.
Some of it has to do with the convenience of the commute. A longer commute especially by car means you want to spend as little time as possible looking for parking, jostling in and out of parking lots, turns, etc. Stopping for coffee means maneuvering in and out of traffic, which means your morning business will be slow and limited to people who mostly work out of their cars (transport, police, fire, truckers, etc). A shorter commute that involves some walking or bus/train service means workers may have downtime that they can use to grab a quick cuppa joe and a bagel. They don't have to worry about traffic hassles but do need to be able to see the bus stop or train platform from the cafe. Seattle is awesome for the short commuters, Dallas and Charleston are mostly car towns. However, dallas and Seattle are more Western in character and may be more friendly to early coffee and bagels than Charleston which is more modeled after the Eastern culture where these things are done differently.
So in short, car town + "eastern" food culture = not a good setup for coffee and bagels. Public transit + "western" approach to food and convenience = better setup for coffee and bagels.
Not an expert opinion, just hope it helps, and makes sense...it's long
Great job on the Regular of the Week, Crimson I know what you're all thinking: Why couldn't Alacar do it? Well, my week's consumed by work, sleep, and me trying to recover and enjoy myself. Writing up a Regular of the Week? Takes more time than you might think. I'll still do the Geek Mp3s (a double dose of them) at the end of the week.
@little dragon: congrats on getting regular of the week!
@starr: have a great july 4th as well! Also best wishes to you and your father.
Well i am going to go for awhile get some lunch and probalby play some dragon quest 7 see you all soon though. Have a great day everyone! *hugs and blows kisses*

Hey everyone. I just got back not too long ago from a day out. I headed out to a few electronics stores just to poke around and whatnot and then I saw Transformers with my brother.
I really liked the movie, and I think I enjoyed it more since the last time I got out to a movie theater, I went to see Return of the King. Yeah....
Anyway, after watching the movie, I've gained a truely deepfound respect for Hugo Weaving. I think he is such an amazing actor who is able to do a board variety of things. Simply fantastic.
While poking around the stores, I was flipping through the player's guide for Pokemon D&P, and I fear I'm being drawn back into it.
I had some pretty dang good ribs for dinner too, so right now, I'm sittin' pretty.

@Transformers: I havent seen it yet because I have no time..But I know Ill not be wasting money when I watch it.

btw/ i just watched my pirated transformers chinese Dvd, they'res this point in the middle of hte movie were some guy just jumps up and screams "zhi shi hao sa bi" with a fist pumped aka a colloqial "this movie is the siht"---- so much for their amazing editting skills

Well let's see: does it describe the project? Yep. Does it use complicated language to make it sound much more technical than it actually is? Yep. Good title!

I really liked the movie, and I think I enjoyed it more since the last time I got out to a movie theater, I went to see Return of the King. Yeah....
Anyway, after watching the movie, I've gained a truely deepfound respect for Hugo Weaving. I think he is such an amazing actor who is able to do a board variety of things. Simply fantastic.
While poking around the stores, I was flipping through the player's guide for Pokemon D&P, and I fear I'm being drawn back into it.
I had some pretty dang good ribs for dinner too, so right now, I'm sittin' pretty.
Windmills do not work that way!
