A belated welcome to Elvenmage. We hope you like it here =)
Well, today's been a nice day so far. In between spurts of playing Kuzunoha Raidou (to get back into the Wasted City mood, no less), I went out with Josh for a little while. We had some lunch and he put money down on my other birthday present: Odin Sphere, an intriguiing action RPG by Atlus. I was originally going to get Seiken Densetsu 4/Dawn of Mana, but I heard so many awful things about it from so many different sources that I figured I might as well wait on it. If it's that bad it'll be twenty bucks by the end of June, so I can pick it up then.
@J-music: I've been getting back into it myself, actually. I realized earlier that Josh left all his ZWEI on this computer, so I've been listening to that, and getting back into Pierrot and Merry. I highly recommend both. Actually, I lent Josh's little sister Emily a large portion of my J-rock collection over the last two weeks and it seems we have frighteningly similar tastes. She took some select stuff from Luna Sea and TRAX, but literally devoured all my Pierrot music. Last Friday when we were out there, she wasn't without her Mp3 player all night; I could hear "Paradox" everywhere I went O_o;;
Of all of the seiken densetsu games i like Secret of Evermore the best. considering at that time i thought it was a really cool game and i rented it for like a whole week so i could finish it. I thought the music in there was pretty intrigueing and the places that you go to were pretty innovative in their own ways.
Also the best dragon quest game i think is probably the 6th one since that game had 2 worlds the dream world and the reality world. The game actually fooled me the first time since i thought i was at the end of the game but it turned out it was only half way through the game.
Love,
Cecilia

@ Buzz and Photon, an anime similar to sailor moon, well that sounds like a worthy watch, must find me a copy, hehehe .
I can get you about 10 off the top of my head... or don't you like the genre? Some of my favorite shows are Mahou Shoujo. Mermaid Melody being the best, of course, simply for the music.
Oh, and Elvemage, I knew you from the Weekly Contest when you were PsionicBlast, so good to meet you... again. It's always good to see new people take an interest in the Coffeehouse.

Ah, Secret of Evermore. Unfortunately, it isn't an actual part of the Seiken Densetsu series, but it really is a good game in its own rite. A lot of people get down on it for being too simplistic or contrived, but I really don't see it. I think they should've named it something other than "Secret of X" because it made people think it was another Mana game and they were really expecting that, remaining unwilling to see the good in Evermore. I loved the game, though. as for the music, Ivor Tower and Ebon Keep all the way! =)
DQ6 is one of my absokute faorites, yeah. The dual-worlds thing was done so well and in such a twisted faerie tale kind of way, I was hooked. Memorable characters plus a really refined job class system kept me playing forever. It's one of the few emulated games I've played all the way through; usually I lose patience with games I have to play in front of the computer monitor, but that one really got me.
I'm really glad that DQMonsters: Joker and DQ9 will be coming out soon. I really can't wait ^___^;;

My favorite Seiken Densetsu game is easily Secret of Mana (SD2). It was actually my first RPG, I got it 11 years ago when I was only 7. I think I've completed it 40-50 times, it's awesome. But you can easily ruin it by staying and level up all the time, which removes the difficulty.
And then you have Seiken Densetsu 3, which is the follow-up which never reached United States or Europe (shame!). It's an incredible game also, because of it's replay value, and because it's harder than Secret of Mana. There are a lot of stuff I like about those games... They are tremendous.
Yeah, next monday is the big day. If only Persona 3 were out by then I'd probably be getting that, heh. Odin Sphere looks to be very different from other RPGs this year. Also, the soundtrack is done by Hitoshi Sakimoto, one of my absolute favorites, so I can't pass up the opportunity to hear that! I've already had the Dawn of Mana soundtrack for some time and, though it is amazing, I'm itching for some more Sakimoto =)
One thing I really want to do in this playthrough of Raidou is get Alice. Although I really don't relish having to level grind that much before the end of episode 8...ye Gods ~_~;;
@Sene: I absolutely adore Seiken Densetsu 3. It's easily in my top five must-play games of all time, just because it's so fun to play and so immersive. It's really a pity the game never made it to the US, because it's the best in the series I think, and would've really catapulted the Seiken Densetsu name in this country. Of course, with all the spastic mechanical choices Koishi Ishii has made since Legend of Mana was birthed unholy in this world, that good name would still be ruined. *Sobs quietly in a corner*
I have no idea why they haven't relesed Secret of Mana and/or Seiken Densetsu on the GBA (they did release SD1, Sword of Mana). I haven't tried the new games, and I have to know they are good before and try them. I don't want to destroy my high thoughts about the series by playing a mediocre game, you see...
Well, I thought Sword of Mana was okay except for the magic and class systems. For some reason they just rubbed me the wrong way.
As for Legend of Mana...it can be good if you have the patience, and maybe a strategy guide to go with it. You have to build the whole world of Fa'diel yourself, and if you do it the wrong way you miss out on all the interesting stuff. Plus, it just doesn't feel like a Seiken Densetsu game.
Children of Mana is one big dungeon crawl with no real RPG elements to it, so I kind of avoided that one. And from what I hear, even though the visual and aural elements of Dawn of Mana are spectacular, it's basically the same as Children. That disappoints me, since it's the first real canon game since SD3 and we've all been waiting a long while for that =(
I'm not really sure about Heroes of Mana, the tactical RPG that LD mentioned, because not a lot of information is available for it yet, but I really hope it's good.
@ Mr. Stuff, nope I ain't being sarcastic, I do like the whole sailor moon thing going on there, so I'd much appreciate a list of anime's in the same style, as for the reason why I like them, can't say for this being a site aimed at all ages, if you know what I mean :o...
'Fox I'm totally digging that deck. I'm not sure what format you're focusing on, though I'd assume Legacy, but it seems little unfair to run 3 Entombs when it's banned in Legacy and restricted in Vintage. I'm not sure what a good replacement would be since comparable cards are so much more expensive... FoF (like Kev said) or Gifts Ungiven.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
My favorite Seiken Densetsu game is easily Secret of Mana (SD2).
Heh, that was actually the one Squaresoft game that I disliked. The whole "working up each weapon with each character" thing gets immensely annoying very fast. I almost didn't finish the game out of sheer boredom.
Secret of Evermore, on the other hand, was VERY cool. In fact, the first part of the game is one of my main inspirations for my next homemade block, which will feature a pre-historic setting.
The best Squaresoft title hands down, however, is Chrono Trigger. And this is coming from a guy that usually despises time-meddlings, because they rarely ever make any sense. Come to think of it, I think the whole Lavos deal was an inspiration for the creators of Heroes. Only replace "Lavos" with "nuclear explosion in New York".

You don't have to do that Just play through the game, don't put very much time into levelling up weapons or magic (just let each character have 1 weapon each). That said, I admit it probably wouldn't have been my favorite hadn't it been my first. Nostalgia counts a lot, you know. I wasted so much of my childhood playing that game.

*Twitch* There's only ONE Square game you dislike? How do these people do it? Maybe you've just never played Parasite Eve 2 or something >_>;;
I...don't have the opinion of Chrono Trigger that I used to, frankly. And this is strange, considering the legendary Yuji Horii worked on it. I think they did New Game+ all wrong, but that can't really be held against the game because it was one of the first to do that.
You don't hear this often from gamers, but I really liked Chrono Cross a lot more. I'm not really sure why, except for the vastly superior soundtrack, but it just hooked me in a bigger way. And I'm being serious here; I don't know what way that was O_o;;

Errata: add "out of the ones I played" at the end of my sentence.
Let me see if I can name them all... Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IV, Breath of Fire (possibly 1 & 2... I can't remember exactly), Evermore, Secret of Mana. I think those were the only ones. ALso, the SNES was the last video game I got really into before I moved on to computers, so I'm not sure if Square did awful games after that for other consoles.

Everyone, thanks for all the welcoming, and Mr.Stuff I remember you too from the Weeklys.
Also, you were the one who partially encouraged me to come, I always say your link for here in your sig whenever you posted. (and I saw your posts alot in the weeklys)
It's extremely sided towards a very specific meta with lot's of nonbasics, because you copy say stone rain, or boom onto the volute and keep killing their lands along with Detri to get a huge Detrivore, but you can still kill a lot of vital lands anyway.

Oh, okay. No worries there, then.
The Breath of Fire games were translated by Square, but not produced by them. That series was all Capcom =)
Square really went downhill during the Playstation era, to be honest. They produced some good things like Chrono Cross and Vagrant Story, but other than that it was all ubermarketed stuff, so yeah. Although they did redeem themselves to an extent during the Ps2 age (which is still going on?) with stuff like Unlimited: SaGa and FF12.

This one of my fav games ever. Very underrated game. Beautiful sound, graphics. Cool story. Awesome magic system. Fun dog.
I hate the games to be honest. Only played until the end the gameboy one and only because my friends wanted to play it while they were here
Yup my fiance seemed kinda perfect thats why I decided that she'll be the one I'll marry someday. I kinda met her in the school library, had some talk with her and after two weeks, she became my girfriend, we get along so well easily. Today was sort of a mixed day. It wasn't so bad during most parts, despite how tired I was. But there were a few problems that came up.
I went to work today and found that the boss had issued a warning to all of us, saying that we'd received far to many complaint calls this year, and that if we got any more, people would start getting fired. She went on to complain about some of our behavior and demand we show a better performance.
Apparently, we not only failed some of recent tests and examinations as a store, but the owner was made aware of a very recent complaint call by a woman whose grievance could easily have been averted. The owner was quite angry with her (the manager) and that led to her being inflamed.
I was upset by it, because it really made me afraid of losing my job. It seemed that she was willing fire people just at the drop of a hat the way her paper was written, though I do understand it was written in anger. The assisstant manager said it was more likely that people might be fired if a customer complained about that person specifically.
Additionally, my mother, who used to be an employee at that same store and who is still acquainted with the manegerial staff, called the assistant manager and talked to her about it. According to her, I personally am not in danger, because I guess they are quite happy with my work, and the manager just wanted to make a strong, generalized mandate to motivate people. The way she put it, I have nothing to worry about, because if anyone were to be fired, it wouldn't be me.
Also, my mother called their customer service number and gave a high review, including comments of praise for me in particular. That's so sweet.
I'm still a bit anxious about it, because this job is important to me. But that made me feel a lot better.
Otherwise, it was kind of an emotional day, probably not least owed to my fatigue. But it wasn't all bad. I felt in a pretty good mood other than my concerns. And I finally got my tax refund, which is nice to see. We could really use the money.
@Games: I really enjoyed Secret of Evermore as well. The alchemy system was fun to play around with. It obviously played similarly to Seiken Densetsu games, which is a plus.
I want to see another SaGa game! Perhaps Romancing SaGa 2 ported over, or even a whole new title.
@LittleDragon: Nice new Osaka avvie. By the by, I like mahou shoujo anime, too. Longtime fan of Sailor Moon. Then there's Revolutionary Girl Utena . . . which is another story . . .
All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
You got your return today too, huh? Good for you. I just got mine, and now my ailing bank account has some spring back in its step. Enough for me to splurge on some accessories for my car, anyway. I'll have to order all that stuff tomorrow.
I hope you stay secure in your income, although it sounds like you don't have a lot to worry about. A lot of times the managerial team just uses scare tactics to keep the employees on their toes. It's not the nicest thing, but I think sometimes from their point of view it becomes necessary, unfortunate though that is.
Regarding mahou shoujo - two of my favorite anime (Mermaid Melody and Tokyo Mew Mew) are mahou shoujo. I couldn't say why, other than they are both also romantic comedies, and I like romantic comedies. It's the cuteness, I think.
Speaking of which, I sat down and looked through some old Animerica magazines today and made a list of shows I wanted to get that I don't have yet... and I came up with more than 15 by the end of two magazines. Gah. I have so many things that I want to see, and it seems like never enough time to see them. My eyes are bigger than my proverbial stomach, as it were. Part of it is that I'm a collector, though. Sometimes I'll get shows just for the sake of having them. I'm a lot like the chubby guy from Otaku no Video, who recorded hundreds of shows not for the pleasure of watching them, but for the sake of having the "perfect" collection. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, nor do I mind it. It's just frustrating sometimes when I realize there's really too much out there to have or even know about everything that I would like to. I try my darndest though.
Mornin COffeehouse. Just woke up.. yey we have Connection!

Hey hunter looks like im about 41st place out of 94 players right now for the standard tournament with your MGA deck.

Yes Welcome elvemage and now we have like 5 people that play legacy in here. lol
@ether: yeah secret of evermore wasnt part of the series but i really liked the game because it was such a creative game.
@elvemage: Welcome to the house and i hope you will enjoy yourself here because your always welcome.
Well just wanted to drop by and say hello. See you all soon though and i hope everyone had a good day or night. *hugs and blows kisses*
I have been doing pretty well. thanks how about you hunter?
Hey hunter looks like im about 41st place out of 94 players right now for the standard tournament with your MGA deck.
Im fine. Im just gettin all dizzy about our internet connection, its like on and off kind of thing.
Hey 41st place isnt so bad. Maybe MGA kinda doesnt suit your skills since youre alot more experienced in better decks like control or somethin. Many people think MGA is not competative, but I ignore them. But anyway im glad the yoda of legacy used the deck of my choice. Thanks kev.
I cant seem to complete the goblin list. Its very hard to find goblin warchief here in our place.:)
*CUrrently listenin to: Weird Al yankovic - the saga begins*
After a three day vacation and one week training in badminton, I have come back from work.
I had a medical examination earlier today, then spent the afternoon with my High School friends; we watched Pirates 3. Then we went to this shop, People are People, and they were pushing me to buy a necklace, which I bought. It's a leather necklace with an eagle as a pendant. As Hunter would know the eagle is the mascot of the Ateneo.
Now at work, but not so busy. Just stopped by to say hi. Will watch American Idol in the office TV.
@Hunter: I miss you too. Your fiance is nice and I would like to meet her. BTW, it's nice to tease the Lasalistas that their school starts tomorrow hahahahaha~
@Cec: I miss you too. I miss everyone here, actually, but I've spent so much time with my friends lately that it's hard to go online when my friends always call me to go out with them.
@LittleDragon: Don't be jealous of me; nothing to be jealous of.
Im fine. Im just gettin all dizzy about our internet connection, its like on and off kind of thing.

Good to see your doing well hunter.
hopefully you will be able to get it fixed soon.
Yeah your probably right since i used to play my UW control deck a whole lot in standard during the mirrodin/onslaught days and i played a UW control deck in Legacy for about a year and for mono green aggro ive only played it casually and once at that one semi legacy tournament i told you about.
But im trying to adjust my skills so i can play mono green aggro better i bet if I had a somewhat more rethinkable build i wouldve had a better chance against narcodredge in round 3. Yeah i would probably ignore those people as well i usually like playing decks that people think that are not competitive anyway since its alot more challenging. The funny thing im doing better then half of the standard players there and i bet at least half of those players were playing with competitive standard decks so to me decks don't matter its the player that matters the most.
@myta: how sweet have a good night!
Well just wanted to say good morning to you all im going to eat breakfast in like 8 or 9 minutes and then get ready for work. Ill post later tonight in the coffeehouse after i come back from my 7.5 hour shift at work though. See you all then and have a good day or night everyone! *hugs and blows kisses to everyone*

That disappoints me, since it's the first real canon game since SD3 and we've all been waiting a long while for that =(
I'm not really sure about Heroes of Mana, the tactical RPG that LD mentioned, because not a lot of information is available for it yet, but I really hope it's good.

*Twitch* There's only ONE Square game you dislike? How do these people do it? Maybe you've just never played Parasite Eve 2 or something >_>;;
I...don't have the opinion of Chrono Trigger that I used to, frankly. And this is strange, considering the legendary Yuji Horii worked on it. I think they did New Game+ all wrong, but that can't really be held against the game because it was one of the first to do that.
You don't hear this often from gamers, but I really liked Chrono Cross a lot more. I'm not really sure why, except for the vastly superior soundtrack, but it just hooked me in a bigger way. And I'm being serious here; I don't know what way that was O_o;;

Also, here is my version of the deck:
4 Steam Vents
4 Shivan Reef
4 Toalaria West
4 Island
5 Mountain
2 Izzet Boilerworks
4 Dertrivore
2 Teferi
Other Spells
4 Spellweaver Volute
4 Stone Rain
4 Boom // Bust
4 Forsee
4 Remand
4 Delay
2 Rewind
If needed I could workout a real viable volute deck actually, that has some sense into it..
This one of my fav games ever. Very underrated game. Beautiful sound, graphics. Cool story. Awesome magic system. Fun dog.
And thanks for belated welcome Shadow. Don't feel guilty. Just give me a cookie, and I'll be fine. =)
However, I do play Runescape. That game has mage in it. Level 60 mage I got - for anyone else that plays if wondering..
Yup my fiance seemed kinda perfect thats why I decided that she'll be the one I'll marry someday. I kinda met her in the school library, had some talk with her and after two weeks, she became my girfriend, we get along so well easily. And after a year of relationship, we decided to have some agreement and be engaged kinda..and yes, she's perfect for me.^_^
What about Narutimate games from PS2?? that rocked!! I have mastered every single one of them. Naruto Narutimate hero 1-3 and Shippuudden Accel. They were so good games!
geez being Ateneo girl seems hard. Well anyway goodluck on everything and miss ya myts.^_^
Ahhw dont be jealous LD, im sure someday you will find yours. My fiance loves me very much thats why she does everything she can to make us happy.^_^

Then there's Revolutionary Girl Utena . . . which is another story . . .
Welcome Elvemage!
