@Smoking and drinking: No for both. It's just not worth it. I might do some casual drinking once I get to college, just to experiment, but I definitely will at least try not to ever get wasted. I would hate that feeling of not knowing what I am doing and being vulnurable.
@my shoulder: Well I say an orthopedist today, and he says there is nothing seriously wrong with my shoulder. He says it is just a muscle strain or something, which seems weird considering the pain I'm in, but whatever, he's the doctor. And the best news is that he said I could run tomorrow, and he gave me a cortisone shot to help with the pain. I'm still skeptical, though, because as I am right now, there is no way I could run well. I just have to hope that it feels a little better tomorrow.
So I'm pretty happy with the FCC so far. I'm third right now after 3 judgings, and I feel fairly confident with my card. Hopefully I'll get a couple really high scores; it would be great to get another trophy under my name.
I don't smoke or drink. I can't smoke because I have a bit of a lung condition - it doesn't affect my life, but I have somewhat less usable lung than most people, so smoking would affect me much more markedly than it does most people. I also can't live with a smoker. I don't drink because I make enough poor decisions without any help.

Well congrats on the FCC i know i could play in legacy tournaments pretty well but i probably would be horrible at FCC of course i never tried it before. Well im glad you got your shoulder checked out and yes i hope your shoulder feels better as well.
Wow the house has been pretty slow today of course its been slow recently. Well anyway see you all soon! *hugs and blows kisses to everyone*
So I'm sure at least some of you were wonder where I've been the past 8 days. Well my computer broke. The heat sink burnt off so if I even tried to run my compture the motherboard would melt. That was bad news. The good news is that I am working from a brand new computer, thats right Brand New G5 for Evan.
How has everyone here been the past few days.
Oh and tomorrow is my birthday. I'm very exicted for that.
I do not drink, and none of my close friends drink. I generally tell people my personal preference, and maybe explain my preference a bit. After that, I tell them that it's how I do things, and i refuse to discuss the matter.
I dont' smoke, either. I ask people I know to try to be careful with their smoke around me. Those who refuse, especially those who see nothing with my objection, aren't my friends for very long. I will not, however go out with a girl who smokes, I refuse.
I cannot conceive of how someone can consider it essential to drink as a means of having fun.
I drank once, and only once, last year with my cousins. It was one of my cousin's wedding anniversary, and only the aunts and uncles and cousins were invited. While the old people were talking about whatever (like politics), we younger guys and gals were drinking wine and champagne and a little vodka and loads of beer in the master bedroom.
I drank wine, champagne and beer in one glass and wooo... I was so drunk.
Never wanted to drink again after that.
@Smoking. Bad. Very bad. People die because of smoking. Smoking is one of the causes of separation. Bad. Smoking bad. Now why am I speaking in fragments?

I don't drink because I make enough poor decisions without any help.
QFT. Humorous, yet true (for myself as well) at the same time.
Good lord this Anime of the Week is complicated, long, and involved. It's taking quite a while. I've gotten my Idol watching in for the night (go Melinda!) and gotten a good chunk of this huge freakin' AotW done, and I'm very tired, so I think I'll go to bed early tonight. I'll get the AotW finished and put up tomorrow.

A rotator cuff injury can look like this. No fracture, no obvious dislocation, but moving the shoulder especially raising your arm up away from your body, will cause exquisite grinding pain down yor upper arm. It's from a torn or partially torn ligament up under the shoulder cup. This sort of thing doesn't show up on x-rays.
it's caused by much the same sort of injury you described - landing hard on your side with your arm outstretched or turned inward or outward.
If it's still bugging you get a second opinion is all I can say. Dunno for sure, but this sounds a lot like an injury I got in a bike accident where I was thrown from my bike and landed/skidded with my left arm extended way away from my body. The x-rays showed no disloation or fracture, but the pattern of pain on different shoulder movements indicated the torn rotator cuff. it healed slowly by passive range of motion and protecting the joint from hyperextension. It took me a couple weeks to be able to do most things I used to. I remember running was difficult because swinging your arms at the shoulder is painful.

I been there before. My last comp heat sink and fan broke. Lucky me I got them fixed. Anyway Glad to hear ya got a new comp:)
Hrmmm... A rotor cuff injury sounds like it would prohibit running at the meet then. I hope you're able to run, SB, although things aren't sounding too good. Such a thing must be really disappointing.
One last thing before I go - here is the banner I am thinking of entering for the weekly contest - the same one Fox is entering with the Batman banner. I'm not sure what I could improve on it, other than scrapping it and starting with a new one, or just re-doing all the brushwork. I think it looks pretty good.

good stuff. Even though I feel Blood the last vampire was a poor movie. Looked good but just didn't hold my attention well enough. Always felt the 2 Vamp hunter D movies were better.
@Strongbad - Man, after reading snoops post, I would be hesatant to run. If you give yourself time to heal, it means you will be at good running shape sooner, but if you stress it overly at the meet, then it may take even longer for you to recover.
As far as things go in my little corner of the wood. Apparently some of the working crew will be by tomorow and start working in the kitchen. I really hope so.
I'm also trying to decide if I should pre-order a playset of River of tears.
@MrStuff - Nice! Very good job at capturing Saya's dark side.

Wow, that sounds exactly like what I have. Nothing showed up on the x-ray, there is no obvious dislocation, and it hurts severely when I move my arm up and away from me.
Actually, now that I think of it, the doctor did say that it had to do with my rotator cuff. I can't believe I forgot that. But he said that it wasn't a tear, but just a strain or something like that. I can't quite remember. Do you know how to tell between a tear and something less extreme? Not that I don't believe him, but the pain is just so severe that I still can't help but think that it is something more.
Anyway, hopefully the cortisone will make the pain go away, at least for tomorrow. I really want to be able to at least make the district finals, but I'm going to have to run pretty fast for that. Who knows, maybe I'll actually get a PR tomorrow?

I'd still try to run, but definitely if it's hurting worse than you can bear, don't force it. (I was able to ride my bike up a hill to the hospital to get x-rays after the accident, so it's not an absolute thing...also, everybody is different)
It might be worth seeing if you can get it splinted and try running anyway.

One problem: Tomorrow is the last meet of the season, unless I make finals. If I don't run tomorrow, I can't race until cross-country in the fall. According to the doctor, the cortisone should take away a lot of the pain, and running won't injure me any further, so I think I will try. Hopefully it won't be too painful.
@Alacar: Lol, wow, everyone is going to hate you for the FCC. I don't, but everyone else will :p, except for ME and Kraj.
Hey folks. I've got an english final tomorrow morning, wish me luck. I've been stressed out so much recently, the latest debacle on the FCC has been ticking me off.
Also, I've been posting a lot less on the House. I need to start doing that again. Expect a lot of posts tomorrow--after my final I'll be stuck on campus until work, so I'll be on here all day.
Good afternoon everyone! I've just come home from watching Spiderman 3 and boy was it such a tear jerker! I was crying from middle to ending (No one would cry at the opening credits... except my mom)!
I noticed something... Doesn't James Franco look like James Dean?
Hey Sephi... I'm doing fine. Kinda full from dinner... and that was just a salad. Must be the quail eggs. I'm kinda stressed out with my work, that's why I'm online right now. Non-stop bug-fest from the boss in Vancouver. Nothing too serious though.
My best friend who's serving in the army right now has just informed me that he'll be in the frontline in tomorrow's .... thing... I didn't know there was a war in the south. Anyway I'm feeling anxious right now about that.
@Fox: Fortunately for us here, yes, we do get Pirates, Harry Potter, Spiderman, ... any movie... in advance. And * mytamaimai throws you a San Mig Light
Is it cause I shot you down.... Weakling. Take a bullet like a man...lol
LOL! Tetanus! Someone get me a tetanus shot! Oh the agony and the horror!
But seriously tho these last few days have been utter hell for me...
Same here. The pain from my surgery goes away and comes back with a vengence. Feels like someone beat me like I was bad wife...LOL
