Just so you know, Ravus, what you have committed is a forum offense called the "grammar Nazi." I got warned for it; therefore, I suggest that you refrain from it in the future. We know that "irregardless" is not a real word. However, the audience is not demanding formal English writing, so the object becomes communicating rather than being the most correct.
Are you serious? You can get warned for that? In the Izzet, we strive to maintain order and high intellectual levels. I would even go so far as to say that I take pride in my grammatical-nazi'ing! But then, we're the IZZET! Oh well, I was just pointing out what I had found to be entertaining. Sucks though, if one can get warned on that!

Basically:

I would just like to mention that I have been here the last couple days and reading the posts but I have had nothing to say. So I did not drop off the edge of the world.

To achieve victory one must be in a "constant state" where they are continually checking to make sure that they are making the "decision to net at least two of your opponent's cards for every one of your cards and / or be able to draw more cards than your opponent" ... because doing this invites you to an opportunity to achieve the victory condition.
This statement directs us to choose a method of playing that can move a player towards the conditions that will hopefully lead up to a victory, but in and of itself will never absolutely gaurantee that victory. This is because there exists times when the best mathematical decision of play using 'Card Advantage' as a guide does not get a player closer to victory. And in some cases can lead to an 'absolute victory lost' condition.
This is largely true for control decks, but combo, aggro, and especially straight burn decks often play cards that cause the caster to lost card advantage but put him or her a step closer to victory, either by finding a combo piece, beating your opponent in the face, or scorching your way to victory.

I read an article about it. Virtual card advantage... I think, is when you have card advantage by virtue of your opponent's cards being useless. Thus destroying all of your opponent's lands would be virtual card advantage.

Not really. Because you're going straight across in terms of card advantage: you cast Molten Rain, she loses a land: that's a one-for-one trade. But if you keep doing that, she might be sitting on three cards in her hand that she can't play. That's the concept of virtual card advantage.
Help has come in the form of a bit of basic algebra. I feel that it'll shed some light on your problem here.

I read an article about it. Virtual card advantage... I think, is when you have card advantage by virtue of your opponent's cards being useless. Thus destroying all of your opponent's lands would be virtual card advantage.
Virtual Card Advantage - VCA - Card theory where one card has an effect that is equal to more than a 2 for 1 effect. Some good examples are: you Mind Sludge for six cards and your opponent happens to have five cards in hand, or better yet you cast a Magus of the moat in Time Spiral Block format and your opponent is playing monoGreen with no creature removal and no flyers, the moat = removal of your opponent's 60 cards... that is unless they have a way to make you mill yourself to death. So virtually that Magus is equal to about 60 cards if that deck has no reasonable responce to the moat.
You gave an example of Molten Rain destroying a land your opponent desperately needed as a means for Virtual Card Advantage, while it is a 1 for 1 exchange it does not totally negate the fact that they could possibly draw and play something under that mana strain. While unless the monoGreen player in the above example has a specific responce to the Magus of the moat they will lose the game and those specific responces were: 1. Destroy the Magus of the Moat (Not possible) 2. Have flying creature(s) & deal lethal damage (Not possible).
It is interesting to note that just now the metagame is moving the UB teferi decks of Time Spiral Block from a splash of red to now the future standard of white, lets examine why. The most controversial move for UBW teferi decks are starting to include Teferi's Moat while a bad choice versus 2 color strategy decks an excellent choice against 'mono white weenie' as there is only seven cards that deal with the Teferi's Moat : 1. Disenchant 2. Cloudchaser Kestrel 3. Magus of the Disk 4. Pentarch Paladin choosing white 5. Mangara of Corondor 6. Return to Dust 7. Griffin Guide. Realistically we can expect to see a main deck Griffin Guide with possibly Disenchant and maybe Cloudchaser Kestrel to be a main deck strategy versus mirror matches against mono white weenie in TSP block.
With that being stated you would think that its futile to make the move from red to white for Teferi decks right? But what if I threw in Magus of the Moat? The Virtual Card Advantage value now goes through the roof against mono white. "How is that?" you may be thinking to yourself? Let me explain. Of the seven cards that deal with Teferi's Moat only five cards are answers to the Magus of the Moat. Cloudchaser Kestrel will have to be played before a Griffin Guide or after a Tefri's Moat, which is also one of the five answers to the Magus, so expect to deal with these threats as they seem to be main board strategy. The third answer is a Pentarch Paladin again choosing white, an un-likely serious tournament card as is the Mangara of Corondor our fourth answer to the Magus. The last threat to Magus of the Moat is the Magus of the Disk, a viable threat, but I think a mostly sideboard card for the white weenie mirror match.
Of these five threats to Magus of the Moat I believe only the Cloudchaser Kestrel and Griffin Guide will be a card youll see repeatedly and quiet possibly first match. But now this means that Teferi Decks will have to have flying creatures to deal with its own moats. I think seeing UBW teferi decks sporting 4 Magus of the Moat + 2 Teferi's Moat and X Serra Sphinx will be a force to deal with in Time Spiral Block.

This is my 5th write for someplace that doesnt exist
This has nothing to do with the above post. I made a new deck and I was hoping someone could rate it and help me fix it. I would like to mention that I have somewhat limited resources as far as cards go so don't tell me I need 60 Blood Crypts or somethin' like that but if you tell me it could use an extra copy of a card or one copy of a card that I may be able to manage.
2 Avalanche Riders as the only LD seems random, and you'll almost never pay echo because there'll be better stuff worth playing.
I personally dislike Keldon Marauders, as 5 damage for 1R sounds good until you realize that a single Blood Knight can win you the game sometimes just because it sticks around, is good in combat, and dodges a nice chunk of the removal that's out there. Fury Charm seems kinda random, too.
Also, Auras (Taste for Mayhem) are generally bad. Torchling is expensive for the deck, but it's also a pretty good finisher (it clears blockers). It's up to you, but I'd take it out.
Add some burn to replace the cards taken out.
So here are my suggestions...
-1 Torchling
-2 Avalanche Riders
-3 Keldon Marauders
-4 Fury Charm
-4 Taste for Mayhem
-1 Mountain
+3 Blood Knight
+4 Gathan Raiders
+4 Shock
+4 Volcanic Hammer
If you have Char, you might want to run that, too. (If only to bust a cap in that mofo Teferi... )
Now you have almost no answers, since I took out the only non-creature removal (Fury Charm), so if your opponent plays anything from Ensnaring Bridge to Pyroclasm, you might get PWN'd.
I have found the Avalanche Riders quite useful especially if I can get one out a turn or two early with Simian Spirit Guide, the Fury Charm is just for the trample just in case, and the Taste for Mayhem is amazing on my Skirk Shaman. The problem with blood KNight is I only have one, I only have two Gathans and I only got Future Sight on Friday. As for the Shocks and Hammers good idea to clear the way for my creatures.

once again, I haven't been around for a long time. While my activity on Salvation is slightly higher than when I was non-existant, I still don't feel the level of commitment to Dimir that I used to. I'm sad to inform you that this is my formal resignation of leader of the House. I'm happy to say that, for the most part, I did well with this clan. In my time as leader, we missed just one clan contest and managed to break away from the conventional guild clans.
As for actions from now on, I suggest you start a new thread, elect a new leader, and I wish you nothing but the best. I'll still be a friend, and I'll poke in when I can. I'm sorry that I just don't have the same dedication.
So it is saddening that PurpleD has thrown himself from power, but we need a new leader I suppose and I am willing to take the place. If someone else wishes to take control then we can have a vote.

Is this just PurpleD being repetive or am I exdperiencing DejaVu? PurpleD seems to have stepped down before and Daftmouse stepped up.
IMO, daftmouse, I think you should just usurp the throne and dare anyone to challenge you. I mean, you are the dimir after all. A secret coup is just what the doctor ordered.
Good point, I am the new leader of the Dimir. The reign of PurpleD is over! Long live the new leader of the Dimir, Trebor Lobaxl. I would like to see anyone, even the mods, try to stop me.
So... um... Just kidding about the mod part, I actually am pretty sure I need their permission to take control.
Unfortunately, it has been exactly two weeks since my last post. On the other hand, this post is on the same page as that one, meaning that our clan is very sad right now.
In any case, I traded my Underground Seas, so I no longer play UB Control. I play UWr control. I'm kinda regretting it, too, because the Landstill deck of the Roanoke Legacy tournament did well. Eh...
It's really sad to see you go, Trenton. You still on MSN?

for a very long time underground sea has been the best dual land. i still have only one - they're tough to come by. - what made you trade them and what did you get for them?
and what's in UWr control? i normally associate that combination with fish.
